  1. As in a pic? Not much to say about it, appearance-wise. "It's a car, in a boring colour" 😁

    Hello! Something in summer style.
  3. I am changing my tariff with Eon Next from the fixed tariff i have till July 2025 to the EV tariff fixed for 12 months. I only use 5-6 kWh of electricity in 24 hours when not charging the car. I am home charging about 60 kWh a week on a 3 pin plug @ the 22.03 pence a kWh. = £13.21 I can get from Midnight to 7 am about 14 kWh & also pre condition the car so under £1 a half charge of the battery. So 4 -5 nights offpeak charging some weeks. (hopefully not much need to daytime charge at home.) 60 kWh x 6.9 pence. £4.14. Gas heating will be getting turned on shortly . Maybe the offpeak electric will make it worth at times using a efficient oil filled radiator or 2 offpeak. Maybe not much saving but Mony a mickle maks a muckle.
  4. that looks clean and straight. and that boot will inhale stuff. as for the engine, its as near bullet proof as you can get. my old pre - pd 1.9tdi ALH (90bhp) never skipped a beat. everything else around was aging and dying at a much faster rate. i reckon you could literally shoot those blocks with a .50cal and it would just sputter a bit for a second or two like it was knocked off balance, before continuing on...
  5. Shouldn't really do that as this was apparently banned under EU rules, and subsequently incorporated in ours. However, I know that some Range Rovers and the like can be coded to do this. My daughter's Renault Capture does as well. In the mid 80s we were driven bonkers by someone down our road who had the chirping on a Ford of some description. Wh would be in bed and he would come home, two chirps as he locked his car, another when he unlocked it because he had forgotten something, two more when he locked it again. Every night! No wonder they tried to stop it. Why do you need the sound. If itis to confirm the car is loked, the indicators on most cars flash.
  6. Just expressing an opinion, George. Cheap Chinese steel made by Chinese human drones who aren't all that well paid, cheap plastics and varying quality elctrics and electronic components. Not to mention the miles travelled to get to Europe etc. Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft and others really should have got ahead of the curve a while back IMO
  7. However it appears that globally it is only the UK Government that is mandating for Zero Emissions at the tail pipes(ie BEVS and Hydrogen fuel cell) , other areas aren't which may be why the BEV sales are dropping in those other areas as subsidies for BEVs are slowly withdrawn and market forces go " meh we don't want these, we're happy with cheaper HEVS & PHEVS (& Range extenders) " Given our Governments almost unique stance we may end up being a sub standard market because if globally there is no incentive to produce BEVs and especialy if the only place (due to interventionism) that "wants" them needs also to be built as RHD why should they build BEVs if the global market isn't there for them?
  8. Well, not done "today" but a few weeks ago, but finally I managed to find some time to update my fellows about it. I had the service done, may first to the car, still in warranty so by Skoda, and being the first time I had the car there I decided to go with the flow and let them do whatever they think was to be done. I first went to ask, at around 9K km from the 1st service (at 30K km! 😱) so it had 39K km and they said "why bother, with long-life oils we do not do less that 15K km service intervals". So I went now at 44K km in an interval between summer travels. I was given a choice of oil, or bring my own, but for goodwill I preferred to let them do .... - Oil 6lt filter some plug and washer and labor - Haldex oil (I was going to mention it but the service rep beat to it) I do not think they took out the pump and clean the strainer, but is a beginning and I plan to do that soon and labor - brake fluid (same as above) and labor - air and cabin filter and labor total damage aprox 365GBP at current exchange rate. What you guys think?
  9. No need to wait until tomorrow or whenever to find that out, its here and it was a lorry fire. Not all fires have to be electric, other types of fire can cause just as much havoc given the right circumstances. Yeh Iv got one, but not put it on to get live data while running, I can tell the coolants getting hot with the fan kicking in… car manufacturers need to put the simple and reliable temp gauge back in cars…
  11. Interesting, but if one looks solely at BEV, and ignores the hybrid and PHEVs then the trend is in fact downwards, so the headlines are not actually lying. You seem to be taking the view that any car with any form of electric assistance or totally electric equates to achieving zero tailpipe emissions, which is just pure BS. The ultimate aim is eventually to go totally zero tailpipe emissions and the only way to currently achieve that is to go with either BEV or Hydrogen and looking at the figures above, in the US, the rise of pure BEV has currently peaked in the graph and is now in decline while the hybrid and PHEVs are growing, which means they will still be burning fossil fuels. In the European data, it states that BEV sales would still be on the increase IF the slump in Germany was removed from the figures, where Germany has seen a 18% drop in the sales of pure BEV cars, so on that basis I would class that article as an example of a platform with a vested interest trying desperately to discredit those that are actually reporting the truth (at the time) and put their own spin on things so as not to water down the narrative.
  12. Looks a cracker 😎 I don’t see boring. I see hell yeah, my kinda car Gaz
  13. found another feature "unlocked" as a result of the MIB2.5 conversion - Sports (Performance) Monitor!! woOot normally this only enabled on Sportline models.
  14. Mine after a bit of a tidy up.🤣
  15. As far as I remember, which isn't as far at all, you might need to set it up with the steering sensors, perhaps in addition to 'coding' or perhaps not, others will know better. There will probably be videos about this on YouTube or the internet. As merely a start to getting the steering wheel off see my notes and included useful video off YT. - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/495151-windscreen-wipers-dont-turn-off-come-on-by-themselves/#comment-5557014 HTH a bit.
  16. @varaderoguy So i found out, that i might have a vacuum leak, because when i remove oil cap while engine on idle i hear very loud a strong suction and engine rpms go up. Already changed pcv valve with oem part, but the problem is still there.
  17. It would appear that although the UK Government would "prefer" new car buyers to "invest" in BEVs that the market appears to prefer PHEVs given how much better they have performed compared to this time last year . HEVs have fallen out of favour in comparison though https://www.smmt.co.uk/vehicle-data/evs-and-afvs-registrations/
  18. I bought the Launch 129 EVO. It works and is fairly good, with free lifetime updates. I bought it from Launch UK. If you buy the Chinese version you will not get support from Launch UK. It will do the obligatory engine and safety systems scanning, but not comfort or body control etc. For that you have to have a much more expensive machine which usually have annual update subscriptions. I’ve stumbled across the Mechanic Mindset channel on youtube. There’s a lot to learn, and they do things in a straightforward way. The OBD scanner is only one gadget, two more important ones are a multimeter and a couple of test lights If you’re just starting another couple of channels aer Diagnose Dan and South Main Autos, and Milligan (he’s from Glasgow but I can’t remember the full channel name.

The temp gauge is heavily biased anyway so not much more use than a couple of warning lights anyway. Is there a chance it was doing a regen at the time or the air con on which could explain the fan? Is the DPF differential pressure sensor still intact? I would drive with the live data next time you make a trip and just confirm the overheating theory then you can start looking at things like the water pump or thermostat
  20. Thanks for the help. Now I have to convince them to actually investigate it.
  21. I started reading your reply then got bored after the second sentence. I tried, sorry. Listen, if you want to drive like your nan just to get the buzz of seeing your mpg on the app then you fill your boots mate, we all have our weird little traits, there’s no shame. Id strongly argue that my input didn’t add anything to the thread, I was trying to highlight to our new Skoda friends that it’s not healthy to be so obsessed with the app and mpg figures. Jesus, life is far too short. Your life must be very very simple, lucky you👍 I bet you’re fun on a night out, drop me a message if you ever fancy a drink………(actually don’t bother) 🙄😂😂😂

Welcome to the forums @Tipperarypaul. For the phone I always use voice control to initiate a call; in my case CarPlay (Siri), and AndroidAuto I am sure will have very similar functionality. Ending a call I either tap the red 'end call' on the Infotainment screen or simply let the other person hang up. Well done finding the windows setting. The menus are very deep and it can take a while to work through them all.
  23. SFD2 is a new "protection" scheme from VW, it makes it impossible to even scan modules for faults without a trick. The latest release of VCDS has a workaround to be able to scan modules, but not yet to be able to change settings which are locked by SFD (they're working on it but VW moves at a glacial speed). Maybe the answer is to scan using the latest VCDS, but then make changes using OBDeleven which does have an SFD unlock mechanism?
  24. I used my post code and figures from Octopus tariff search page rather than my own. For some reason, their Intelligent Octopus Go is 6p on there may be a price drop is coming? -EDIT: actually, on the main IOG tariff page, it still says 7 p/kWh. This is my current IOG tariff as it says on my account page. Same daytime but 7 p off peak. 05:30 - 23:30 24.39p/kWh 23:30 - 05:30 7p/kWh But yes, I totally agree transmission cost should be higher, so I should bear higher per unit cost. More dense grid network so lower infrastructure cost is understandable. Although yours shouldn't be vastly higher. I'm hoping for a reform (don't like this word) of energy billing system so that more is loaded on to day unit rate and standing charge made much fairer.
  25. Not a pop at you, but the inequity of those prices compared to mine - when i live just down the road from a bloody big windfarm and you live miles from any renewable cheap generation. You should pay more for your lecy than me, just down to 'transport costs'. I know Scotland feels aggrieved by this too. Your standing charge is 25% cheaper than mine! Night rate (23:30 - 05:30): 7p / kWh Day rate (05:30 - 23:30): 24.54p / kWh Standing charge: 64.97p / day
  26. I'm somewhat reassured that my garage looks pretty much the same as Lee's right now If I find a way to make it look nice I'll take photographs
  27. None at all, everything seems to be fine while driving.I guess it's some kind of joint issue somewhere, they didn't specify.I wouldn't have known that there was an issue but i went for an oil change and check up and dealer notified me about the problem thus was covered under warranty.

With the right selector on the steering wheel you may select what is shown on your dashboard. Scroll through options on the right part till you see you phone there. From there you can hang up with the same button or select contacts with the options button.
  30. Oh. I should add that the £504 I paid was at an independent VAG specialist garage not a Skoda main dealer!
  31. I just wish they’d officially unmask the damn thing, it has been going on for months of ‘teaser’ shots, sketches, interior shots, constant ‘coming soon’ FB posts…
  32. An update having contacted Skoda with information. Asked to check whether using latest app version, if not to download it. Also asked to send a screen shot and details of mobile 'phone and spoftware version. Uninstalled and app four times and downloaded and installed lastest version (7.5.1) four times, but app still says it's version 7.5.0! Got back to Skoda with this info.
  33. You seem to have a "different" Skoda main dealer approach to servicing in Bulgaria i.e. reasonable &, bring your own oil - unheard of here. Something we don't seen to get in the UK. Sounds very reasonable to me. My last Fluid service (including Haldex filter, brake fluid, engine oil & new plugs) was £504.
  34. i'm outside of UK. But still Europe In my VIN i have "NJ" not 5J. So is mk3. all windows are electric

My 26 April posting in the forum link below includes photos showing where the 'cabin filter' is located (behind the glove box). https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/516188-fusebox-opening-on-mk4-fabia/#comment-5847128 This is on a 2024-built right-hand-drive Fabia, but I expect the filter will also be behind the glove-box of your "Style" Fabia. Plenty of manufacturers (eg. Bosch) will offer a suitable replacement filter, or you could obtain an 'original equipment' filter from a Skoda dealership.
  36. It seems to me, from these responses, there is a widespread problem, but Skoda don't seem to care. They have not informed their dealers, ( not mine anyway) and they have not informed their customers. What is Skoda doing about this serious problem? Do Skoda care? Did they test the car before release? We have all paid a lot of money for the Skoda superb we deserve an explanation!
  37. most if us probably have an understanding already however this is still an interesting video e
  38. Drum roll........................................................... 🙂
  39. If yours is an Amundsen MIB1 then there is this workaround posted by @Tell. It will get you 2023 maps.. I've done it successfully. There is a 2023 mib1 map on mibsolution.one which Seat drivers have been able to use with a part number shuffle. Seat never got mapcare or rather had to fork out for map updates unless you use workarounds. Not sure of the Skoda position on mapcare in mib1, it got dropped in mib2. Lucky souls whilst Audi users are in the same boat. The workaround in mib1 appears to be edit DBInfo file with notepad. PartNumber1="your old part number" PartNumber="your old part number" Edit the the new map file two parameters too: PartNumber1="your old part number" PartNumber="your old part number" Obviously your your old part number is your old part number. Use the notepad editor if Windows. You might not need the part number on Skoda... pass on that, but if you do it appears to be just carrying forward you old PartNumber1="your old part number" PartNumber="your old part number" The unit being tethered on what was originally in place. The file is P106_N60S3MIBS2_EU_NT (8V0060866S): https://mibsolution.one/#/1/15/MSTD Always take a copy of the map file before deleting the contents !.
  40. You seem offended mate, no offence intended. I “went to the effort of posting” because I cannot believe some of the futile posts I keep reading on this forum. As far as I can tell the only reason someone would be bothered about the app is because they are that bothered about their mpg figures. Drive like your nan, you are probably saving a quid here or there, I’ve got far more important things to worry about. Horses for courses, no need to get upset. I am a firefighter and drive fire appliances, I only mention it as you said you were a photographer for the fire brigade. What’s your point? Enjoy the app, I hope it brings you joy👍
  41. To be pedantic 17" "Spider" wheels are fitted to the Mk1 VRs hatch. 16" wheels are fitted to MK1 VRs estate. This is according to a Skoda brochure from September 2003.
  42. Both versions of the app are working for me.
  43. The only accurate way to determine the kerbweight (Which you appear to be asking) is to either obtain a copy of the certificate of conformity where it will be stated or put it on a public weighbridge. Skoda quote a kerbweight range of between 1344kg and 1550kg for the 1.5 manual. An SEL with a few options will be closer to 1500kg. Max tow for the 1.5TSi manual is 1500kg.
  44. Today I fitted my Virtual Cockpit screen protector from Innovative Paint Protection Solutions It has clearly up 95% of the marks I had on my original screen where the previous owner likeed to put their phone 😭
  45. Glorious evening.............
  46. Forgot to update this so will now for anyone that comes across it. Changing the pump was indeed the solution.
  47. The one way valve in the pump has failed. replace the washer fluid pump and all will be working again.
