  1. Rainy morning kitchen window sparrowhawk.
  2. Maybe the windscreen has been replaced in it's past and broken glass is still air box?
  3. Stop it. Just stop it. If I wanted to watch these guys I'd have subscribed to them.
  4. Also @MikeTheThinker A stealership can also derive the specific paint code, including batch number, from the chassis number.
  5. Our dealer invited us purely out of courtesy. I think for all the people that have taken a chance and spent £40k on a car that they've never seen, it's the least thay can do. My understanding is that the brief visit of the cars to the dealers is just for that purpose. Skoda have enough orders now to keep them going well past the point that stock cars begin arriving in showrooms. Maybe my love of old school good manners is just being naive!
  6. Thank you ❤️ I was curious to see how well it had been serviced, the air filter looked questionable. After having a look, I that it wasn't there
  7. The only way to be sure is to look at the receipt. If it's a main dealer, the hourly change may well have made it this, as Warrior193 pointed out, dealers can charge £200 (plus VAT) for work. A quick look suggests that the clutch is about £200 and it takes 4-5 hours to fit. Let's say worst case 5 hours and £200 an hour. That gives us £1,200 + VAT = £1440 I'd expect an independent to be far less than this as their hourly rates are likely much lower; a lot will depend on where the work was done. It's also worth looking at the receipt to see what else might have been done, as I've known people complain that their service cost £1500 or so but a glance at the receipt shows that in addition to an oil change they had tyres, disks and pads all round but they didn't think to mention this little detail...
  8. @lol-lol You really need to understand that everyone can not Charge a car before driving. For whatever reason. Even if they can they might have to go collect someone a mile from charging and wait 15 minutes. Rushing that person to get a move on. 'My battery has cooled'. Heat your battery, go someplace, go to the hills, go to a hotel, go anyplace. Start back with a cold non charged battery. I know these were posted before, but then the one 3 posts up was posted in this thread on Friday.http://

  10. Another for not fitting the smaller tyre size. It'll ride rough and they'll be a bit stretched. As for tyres you'll get plenty of mixed opinions. Currently on Davanti's which are ok, I had Michelin PS5's before which are my go to. I've also run Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric 5's which were similar to the Michelin's. Looking on Blackcircles you could get the Goodyear Asymmetric 5's for £154 each, but for the cost the Bridgestones seem good, especially if you have been happy with them. Check 235/45/19's if you arnt so worried about tyre profiles. They'll be taller and that'll cause your speedo to be out but may be a bit cheaper per tyre.
  11. Yes, it unclips at A-pillar end. There's a tab on the top that you push downwards to unlatch it, then it should come free. Youtube probably has a number of relevant demo videos. Common to several Skoda models from about 2007 onward, I believe.
  12. I think that you can buy the 2 “slider” locking parts as a spares kit, I’ll check later.
  13. It is plain from your photos that your car's rear discs are badly scored, but there is no reason to think they might have been in that state from new and it is unlikely the scoring has resulted from anything other than 'foreign bodies' (eg. gravel). It will be interesting to learn what your Skoda dealership's reaction is to this issue is (I'm very doubtful that the Skoda warranty would cover it) but it really needs the brake-pads removing from the rear brake callipers and a check made whether there is anything embedded in the pads that might have caused the damage and result in further harm.
  14. You are right about that, I was quite sure that the stone squeaking sound came from the front. But noise in a car can fool you pretty bad. Either was I fooled the first time, or they are two different cases. Inspecting the wheels now, the new squeaking must come from the rear. The discs should not look (and sound) like that already, especially not on BOTH sides! Dealer agreed and I will call the mechanics tomorrow. We'll see....
  15. @Paws4Thot None of the videos posted Autostart, no need for you to watch them? Have you ever taken part in the discussions on EV,s without posting about Scalextric?
  16. So has some debris got past the NOT present cabin filter and is rattling around in the fan motor area? Does it change if you change the fan speed? Thanks. AG Falco
  17. He should get to Gazza and see what deaths and damage has been done by weapons supplied by the USA and UK.
  18. 7 pence a kWh on home charging is the wonderful thing. BIK and Salary Sacrifice is fantastic. Over 70 pence being common now for public charging and those who pay for running their vehicles from their income after tax seems to not register with those with cars for business / commercial use. The Chancellor and the Prime Minister and other Politicians that can travel and travel in the UK with their families using expenses need to get with 'The real world'. I would just allow then 2 pence a Mile travel expenses, and £25,000 to purchase an EV for their term as an elected member. It has to be sold after 5 years and anything it loses over 1/3rd when sold comes out of their leaving payments from parliament. I would allow them to claim for Ferries and taking the car.
  19. Only the dealers that I showed an interest have invited me, the dealer that I ordered from has not given an invitation
  20. What is the asking price on Autotrader or anyplace else for the same or similar. WBAC are buying it to sell, at a price more than they buy it for. Obviously that need not be your ASKING PRICE. They have places to sell cars though, lots of places, where there are lots of buyers. You have BRISKODA Cars for sale.
  21. Best sump plug washer to use is a doughty seal (used on high pressure hydraulic pipes). I changed both ours to these seals on first oil change, never been changed since, covered 50k and 100k since first oil change. Gorilla mechanic had been at one of the sump plugs, with slight swarf from sump thread's. I only torque them to 25nm to avoid any stress on threads, never had a problem since.
  22. No problem, I know it's a weird one. I go told maybe it's the heat shield, but it's so far and few between I didn't think it was. I can't figure out any consistency beside my heating is on, weirdly the car has no pollen filters so I'm wondering if it's debris but even so I don't hear it often.
  23. Sorry can't help. Someone on here may have access to etka or similar or you could try the following. It might help. Look under engine group parts and scroll down to engine cooling diagrams. Not sure which engine you have and also make sure its for a RHD vehicle. https://webautocats.com/etka/skoda/ Alasdair
  24. I had the light switch fail and require replacing having exactly the same symptoms you report.
  25. I have had the odd spring clamp leak. Try and removing it and replacing with a decent stainless jubilee clip and see if it seals it. The clamps are normally pretty good but if they have been removed and not put back exactly in the same position they can start to leak. Check the condition of the end of the hose as well. Sometimes if its damaged/split you have enough length etc to cut and reuse hose.
  26. I had a similar experience with my original dealer. When I was thinking of changing, I emailed him to ask what new or pre-reg he had in stock. I go no reply, thought maybe he's not ther anymore, so after a few days went to their website and requested a sales callback. Still got no reply, that was when I went to Autotrader, found something I was interested in, requested a call, and within 30 mins salesman called back. It seems some dealers just can't be bothered! Interestingly, about a month later I got a email from the original salesman asking if I was considering changing !! Replied back to tell him I had emailed him a month ago and that the 'ship had sailed' now. Still haven't got any reply to that...
  27. Had a full service and Haldex oil change / filter clean today. Brilliant service as usual from Wheelbase in Hersham, Surrey. The 280 has now covered 52k and the original brake pads are at 7mm front and 4mm rear, so they’re getting changed soon.
  28. Great satisfaction, fun even for me
  29. I have fixed it. I stripped the cowel off the steering column. You need a no 25 star drive. Undo the screw on the underside of the column. Then unclipped the upper section, it will flip up. You will see two more screws, remove these and the lower section can be taken out the way. There are two silver small screws infront if the stalk base, take these out. Unclipped the surround round the stalk, it has two clips infron and the circle of plastic round the slake comes free. Split the stalk with a small flat head screwdriver. The back comes off. You can now wangle the wires out. Unplug it from the column, a small clip and pull. You can now join the broken wires and reassemble. Use a crimp if you have one but don't join at the break, this is where pressure is and it passes through the stalk. The wires are too short and so they are tight against the plastic. I used the smallest electrical block connector, shaved off the excess plastic so it fitted in the stalk and used a bigger one at the other end where there is loads of room.
  30. Calliper or flex hose failure wouldn't leak brake fluid onto the front carpet - suggest checking the master cylinder too.
  31. @ords yeah sorry pressed the wrong button @Warrior193Warrior193thank you !
  32. Does it have a remote reservoir? You might be lucky and find that the feed pipe has come off the master cylinder although it would require an external force and to have been loose so would have been leaking before. Likely the master cylinder seal, be thankful that it occurred at a standstill. I agree that you would have had a low fluid warning when driving before it became critical.
  33. Just sales patter. Do you own the car outright? They want your car to resell and as cheap as you will sell for and they want you to buy a car. They are in a the motor trade, that is what they do. Simply just ask them to give a price for your car. They will talk about cost to change.
  34. Michelin own the company that makes Kormoran, like they own the ones that make BF Goodrich / Uniroyal Goodrich, TIGAR, Riken, Kleber and maybe more. Various Countries and Companies. (used all of these at one time or another, fitted at ATS Euromaster.) & the own ATS Euromaster & BlackCircle.
  35. Certainly wouldn't fit the smaller size tyre. That will ruin the ride and leave you at danger of kerbing your wheels, or buckling them on the potholes that are everywhere. Secondly, and it's only my opinion, I would not buy Bridgestone tyres, ever. My Karoq came with them at between 4mm and 6 mm. They were promptly replaced with vredestien winters and I run a different set of wheels in summer with kormoran summer tyres. They are apparently made by Michelin an are good on my karoq.
  36. At last service, I was told wipers had it, but did not fit new Škoda ones. Instead, said I would be better off going to Halfords!😂
  37. I thought that maybe they might have improved the wipers when I got my new Karoq in October ? . Wrong! they were just as bad as before, in fact I think they were worse!. Fortunately I had taken the precaution of putting back the Skoda originals on my old car before it went back!. So the 3yr old Bosch ones are now back on the new car! . In fact I had managed to tolerate the rear wiper on the old car but had to get a Bosch replacement for the new one!
  38. On the money again dude.. I bought one last night for £100. 06K 145 722A part number taken off a Golf R with 80k miles, so I'm feeling pretty confident it's the right one 🤞 Next research is who best to refurb it if needs be. The question is straight refurb or refurb with improvements 🤔
  39. I guess you are going to get mixed reviews on EVERY tyre hat you look at, wherever you look at them. Tyres do give you a dB rating so if you can find one at 67dB then that should be about the quietest ......... HOWEVER I do not think you will find one with that rating in the size of tyre you are looking at. You may find some around 70/71dB but a lot depends on your car's own sound insulation and suspension set up very much. If you are lucky, you may just be in the size range to look at tyres with specific sound reducing technology implemented in it's manufacture. For instance https://www.goodyear.eu/en_gb/consumer/why-goodyear/soundcomfort-technology.html#:~:text=The rolling noise of the,big difference in noise levels.
  40. My new baby . Thanks to a good friend she is looking her best . (Look at that shine all him ) My 4th skoda second kodiaq.
  41. 1 point
If you hadn't said that, I would have! Our boot did this once; you could hear the motor going when you pressed the button and if you looked through the window you could see the "nudge" (whatever it's called) move a bit but not enough to release. Much lubrication later and it was perfect. These things just get stiff. As for the car... ahahahaha. Etc.
  42. I've been to Locomotion museum up in Shildon this week and took lots of pics. I like these 2 I took outside and edited. Both taken with my OM10 mk3 with kit lens. Colour selected with OM Workshop, then finished in Gimp. What do you think? I can post the originals if you wish.
  43. Yesterday afternoon's sunset (suspect it won't be a great one today 🌬️☔)
  44. Saw some Cormorants as well. MAH01665.MP4
  45. A few from today (Sunrise, Sunset, Ice 🥶, a few birds, Crescent 🌙 and an Astromode shot with a Pixel 6a)..........
  46. Fog had lifted, but early evening mist now descending............
