  1. Coincidence is a funny old thing. I was rummaging around last night and came across this of my old Superb from July 2012: Fond memories 😊 Gaz
  2. Noticing this thread although there are other places you can ask questions ( and be ignored) one thing Mr Rubbish is missing out is permanence. You ask questions or give answers and they can be sticky or searchable for ages here, in fact hard to keep them off google. I often come back to questions I've asked and find them on cross searches :D Try that with something like FB forums, this is why dedicated sites like this can trump others.
  3. A couple from yesterday’s testing at Brands Hatch. Not much of interest on track. A mate was testing but didn’t even make it off the trailer with a water leak. In other news a sad day, the Yeti is going. It’s done me well other than the persistent water leaks into the cabin. Picking up a defender next week then gonna de-bling it with some white wheels and a Massey Ferguson rusty red wrap.🤣
  4. Iceland had the right idea - jailed instead of bailed out.
  5. It looks like it does a lot of offroading!!
  6. The thing is they are in the Motor Trade, a customer service based supply industry, the salaries they get at different levels are advertised, they get perks, might do well, well paid, nice house nice car, not all are salespeople, there are management, could not sell Free Ice Cream, & some are salespeople, selling their personality to a potential customer, and these can be great and they stay places for years. There are many total t!ts, often in the family, married into, somehow one of the Groups insiders, and they get away with being cheeky barstewards,
  7. The other week I went out with a mate up on The Wirral to get her a new car. She's not short of a bob or two. We went to Skoda, Mazda and Lexus, and I was quite taken aback at their (poor) attitudes toward selling. I had very similar thoughts to yours. We then went to Tesla, where the experience was night and day - she now has a brand new Model 3.
  8. Holy smokes batman we've got another update. That's mental 😂, pulled the car out to do some jobs with a humongous shout out to @Updown789 for his help once again. We've taken a few steps forward (and some back 😂), sorting the SRS faults and redoing the relays on both the passenger and driver side has cleared those so no more warning lights! Also fixed the DRL bulb that wasn't working by fiddling with the plug. Here's how the car currently looks 🫣. Turns out both the horns are dead, absolutely nothing, zilch, nada, @Updown789 being the hero he is had a volt meter so we were at least able to confirm there's no issues with the wiring and it is definitely the horns that have given up. There are probably, in fact no, there is definitely easier ways to get the horns out rather than dismantling the front end of the car but I haven't got a jack at the moment and going in the easy way is boring 😂. All that's really needed now is a clean, new air filter (on order) and new horn, that's really it, there is a chance it'll fail an MOT on the driver's wishbone but I can at least pick one up from work for £40 so it's not something that would break the bank. Still absolutely blows my mind I've had this 13 years next year, everyone says to scrap it but I just can't bring myself to do it 😂
  9. This is an interesting doc about the place. The tour guide mentioned that in today's money the project went over build and got up to about £22 million. Lovell was then personally hit with the bill and it all got very nasty, very quickly. What saved Jodrell was 'Sputnik'. Apparently the satellite wasn't the interesting bit, the launch craft though, was. It was a repurposed ICBM rocket the Russians used to put Sputnik in orbit, thus showing the world, not only that they had the first satellite, but they also had ICBMs. Jodrell was the only facility reckoned to be able to track the rocket stage and so it suddenly all came good financially....the rest is history :)
  10. It is indeed. They moved it around just so I could take the photo nice tea rooms, and things to do there. Obviously I was there for the science, not the cafes....
  11. @ 14.00 - 17.00 on Quest live start.
  12. Reckon we spotted a double rainbow this evening 🌈? No rain though.
  13. My car was produced April/May, did over 5k kilometers so far and 3-4 times of Android Auto not working/disconnecting. Infotainment itself hanged so far two times only and was reset via holding the off screen button. No ignition restart required. After the Golf8/Octavia 4 infotainment disaster, this thing is useful, well executed and solid. Oncoming vehicle or obstacle sensors are different thing and they are more sensitive than in Passat B8 so one needs to adapt to their behavior.
  14. My 2023 SE L (with winter pack+) had the 'no filament' heated windscreen, which worked well over the two winters we owned the car. We recently switched to a new Sportline Edition and see the heated screen fitted to this new car has the visible filament type. On this basis either technology could be fitted to a Karoq 🤷
  15. I have the mk4 L&k PHEV and am very pleased with it. The software issues seem mainly to be in European cousins. I switched after years with Citroën and the VAG systems are superior. Currently in France and not able to get their chargers to accept my credit or debit cards. But still getting 52 mpg running on petrol and the regenerative charging.
  16. I've only used Normal since I got the car Steve (so many other things to work out before I go playing with that)
  17. I've played this game as well. Then when you think it's not in the UK suddenly you get a phone call saying it'll arrive at the dealer tomorrow. I must admit now that I give the supplying dealer some latitude (colour, trim level, accessories) so that they can try to find the car I want "from stock". Worked a treat last time, had the car in 2-3 weeks.
  18. The structure they said could never be built... Until Husband and Co consulting engineers took up the challenge!
  19. This is my 2023 2.0 TSI 4x4 Sportline about to set off from Milton Keynes on a 500 mile trip to Kildrummy, Aberdeenshire. The combined weight of trailer and the 1983 Metro 1.3 HLE is 1,400 kg. I've done 288 miles today, basically M1 and M6 to Dumfries, the cruise control was set to 60 and the Karoq maintained this speed easily. Initially it seemed to be using D6 more than I expected but then settled into using D7 most of the time. The overall mpg for the 288 miles was 32.6 which I thought was pretty good. I did the same journey previously using a 2.0 TDI Touran (same trailer and load) and it averaged 35 mpg. The revs never went above 2000 rpm and most of the time it was using a rev range of 1,200 to 1,800 rpm. On normal non dual carriageways (where trailers are limited to 50mph) it was pulling happily in D7 at around 1,400 rpm. Overall it was very smooth and quiet, the trailer load on the rear suspension seemed to make it softer over any bumps too. Overall it seems a very capable tow car, and working out more economical than I anticipated.
  20. Thank you.... 🙂 Nobody can seem to tell me yet, just in a queue awaiting shipping. I fell in the same hole last night looking on ship finder and did find a boat that hit Emden this morning and is due to arrive in Grimsby this weekend. I doubt ill be that lucky....but we can only hope 🙏🤞
  21. I'd think that your Skoda sales person will be your point of contact, he might/should be able to find out which car carrier that individual car is scheduled to be loaded onto, and a rough idea of its sailing time and route. Then, it is off to a website like "marine movements" or one with a similar name, to track the movement of that car carrier. This used to be a "jolly" game to play when you knew that your ordered car was "on its way" - my experience, unfortunately was not too good, my wife's 2015 VW Polo was coming in from South Africa as that was where VW were building RHD Polos at that time, I spent a lot of time looking for the "big" car carriers that looked like they were heading for this area of Europe - and failed, I had been looking for it going round the Horn - wrong it must have gone via the Suez canal! It was near Holland by the time I caught up with it, a complete failure on my part - then eventually spotted it in our dealer's car compound but no one knew anything about it as our sales person was holiday - oh well, at least I tried!
  22. One late comment I'll make here, I'd never ever fit a crimp joining piece within the area of this wiring that gets flexing when the hatch is being opened - that might just be what caused the pipe to separate at that point, always make two repairs to any wires that get damaged for broken within that flexing area, one within the car's body and another within the hatch body. Also fitting a general purpose "crimp joining piece" is just being very lazy, there are better ways to effect a wiring repair so that the repair lasts long enough.
  23. Mini not an option or I think the Mrs would push for it. Allegedly mini has moved production to China and now won’t guarantee prices or delivery times so the lease firm is refusing to offer for now
  24. The big & the small of it.
  25. Hello Joco776. Thank you for replying. I am interested. What is the procedure?
  26. Hello friends. I found the sound coming from the roof of the vehicle, but unfortunately we can't intervene. One of the welding rivets on the ceiling bar on the windshield squeaks because it stretches. Polyurethane foam is applied to the bar part. I hope we succeed. We managed to reach the sound by completely dismantling the ceiling flooring.
  27. Quick end of the week update.... The dealership initially said "the battery is not covered under the warranty, but I will speak to the head of business to see what we can do". I have subsequently had an email from them to say the head of business has authorised the replacement of the battery at no charge to myself. I am going to ignore that it is worded like it's them doing me a favour and take this as a win as it could have been so much more painful with them. Once again, thanks to all the people offering advice here, it helped me get to where I am now! Finally, after reading all these posts about people not taking care of their batteries as an ongoing concern, can you recommend anything I should be doing once the new one is fitted to ensure it's kept as good as it can be? Thanks again everyone (and happy weekend too!)
  28. Thank you. The car needs to go back to the dealership soon (for some bodywork that the damaged!!) so I will get it checked out then
  29. How did the install go? Any pictures of it in place? Cheers.
  30. I feel sorry for you guys, what with one foot in the grave.... everything must be really boring or you complain?
  31. Hi there, Can anybody help me with the software MST2_EU_SK_PQ_P0253T This should be the best firmware update for my skoda octavia III from 2016 wich now still has MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0245T Ive been told my car needed that updat, but trying to find out if that is the truth or that i maybe need a different one. I've been looking in the mib helper site for the p0253t version, but software wasn't there anymore. Ik hope that somebody can tell or send it (the zip file) to me Thanks already Justin
  32. Do Comuter Generated Images of cars actually have engines?
  33. I realised, I never posted my experience after I got the braces and links installed. I can't really tell which one made a difference as I installed the rear and front swaybars + the strut brace all at once. The car is definitely a lot sharper in bends and corners about 10-15 km/h faster than before with no effort. The bar links on the other hand...the front ones are either a bad batch or just bad quality...had to go twice as the nearside kept getting loose. If I had to do it all over again, I won't upgrade the links unless I decide to lower the car beyond what is practical. Overall, paired Michelin PS4s rubber, it's made the right amount difference in handling and I don't think I lost much on comfort considering our French country roads.
  34. Probably removed it and changed the exhaust in general to be quieter. At the end of the date it’s still only a 4cyl, add more cylinders for better sound 😁
  35. You say you have the basic headlamps in your previous post. These "LED Headlights (Standard): The Elroq SE 50 comes standard with LED headlights, which provide efficient and bright illumination." The final paragraph in the image posted by @Steve153 states no adjustment is needed to drive abroad. Its all in your manual if you read it.
  36. Read the last paragraph in the image posted, the bit that "applies to headlights without adaptive functions" which you have.
  37. I have managed to get the lights out by pushing a credit card underneath the end of the light. This pushed the clip inwards. I had watched a couple of videos which said push the light to one side to release them that didn't work for me. The car was in for service a couple of weeks ago. Yesterday I had the lights on for the first time since the service and the error message appeared, I wonder if when the did the service they have not coded correctly for the led number plate lights
  38. The XDS (electronic limited diff) I find needs encouragement to do stuff. Off the mark is always going to be an issue. Once moving you need give the steering wheel and go pedal some positive input to get the XDS to wake up. Once woken it definitely helps rotate the car. If you drive too gently then it doesn't activate and you end up in an awkward mid space where you don't have any help.
  39. We spotted a colourful Moon on the way home from feeding the birds this evening...
  40. Unfortunately this is not true. Several cars that I have had have started with standard items which have then either been discontinued or been relegated to an option. I guess it is to reduce the effect of general price increases.
  41. We found a friendly Duck this evening 🦆
  42. If you consider that the hood will spend practically its whole life in the closed position - with the strut horizontal - the ram will be well lubricated.
  43. Agree - brilliant forum. Was on it back in 2009/2013 when I had my Fabia VRs and when I came back to the brand this was the first place I needed to come to. Simple as.
  44. As others have said, for all the reasons to leave, the update is certainly a weird one. I find SEATCupra, VWvortex and the rest quite difficult to navigate, in contrast to Briskoda. People here are very active and, with the exception of a few, very friendly, helpful and supportive. Certainly, there is a wealth of information, going back to the mid 00s. All I'll say is, the UP! site has under 100k replies in total. On Briskoda, the Octavia section alone has 1,300,000. People vote with their feet. At least Mr Happy is their problem now - good riddance. FWIW, I think @Dean, @ColinD and the others do a fantastic job.
  45. Absolutely no side effects on the window itself or it's operation. Likewise, no impact on the door frame. Mine has been on my Superb for almost 7 yrs now. It's a much better solution than the versions that stick on the door frame itself. The heko ones r a much cleaner look, but also leaves no marks at all if u have to remove it.
  46. While everyone’s entitled to their opinion, I think the way one has chosen to express it is unnecessarily derogatory. It’s one thing to prefer another website, totally fair, we all have our preferences. However, t’s another thing entirely to come into this community and trash the site in such a dismissive way. If the roles were reversed, I’m sure VerticalScope the owner of the site you prefer would be thrilled to know one of their members was out publicly belittling other communities online. That kind of behavior reflects more on the individual than on any platform they’re talking about. There’s always room for improvement in any community, and thoughtful, constructive criticism is always welcome. But this kind of negativity doesn’t build anything, it just tears down. If you’ve got suggestions, let’s hear them. If not, maybe consider the kind of energy you’re bringing into the space. We’re all here to make things better, not bitter. Enjoy your site, and don’t let the door hit you backside on the way out…
  47. Messing about with AI. Given my yeti a rocket bunny makeover..🤣
  48. A few from this evening (and a closer look at the Mandarin ducks). I was a little too late to catch the sunset 😕 Had a go at long exposure (10 seconds with the camera balanced on the dashboard) - works best with Lorries!
  49. A couple from yesterday afternoon / evening. Spotted the first Bluebells of the year
  50. I used to have hub-centric spacers before when I had the factory rims, but not anymore since I got my aftermarket rims. With the aftermarket rims the wider rim and offset combo make it sit almost the same as I had with the spacers. Before Spacers:- 12mm front, 10mm rear Rims:- Factory 19x8 ET44 Tyres:- 245/40/19 Now Spacers:- None Rims:- Rotiform 19x8.5 ET35 Tyres:- 245/40/19
