  1. Your car, your rules. When he's got his own car and paying for his own insurance then he can do whatever t/f he likes but until then, nah. As also said, it'll do sweet f/a for performance. Tell him also, contrary to Top Gear, pulling handbrake turns does not get the ladies turned on 🤣
  2. It is my car but it is 'the spare' since we bought a Fabia (needed just a bit more room). The Citigo is getting on a bit (144000 miles) so wasn't worth trading in and made sense for DS to use it. I appreciate he shouldn't be getting his own way but I have to live with him. He's like Kevin 'It's SOOOO unfair' all day long 🙄
  3. Nor do induction noises apparently…. I know it’s hard for a male brain to comprehend that this is peer reviewed science debunking a myth but sadly we must use our own noises (words…) to try and glean affection from those we find attractive 🤣
  4. @Batwoman Tell him it's It's your car not his. Save his money for when he does have his own car!
  5. 6 months ago I bought a 2010 Skoda Octavia Scout. 280k km on the odometer, but it still feels tight to drive. Perfect car for transporting my little family where ever we might go. this car is the newest car model I have ever owned, first was a 96 A4 Sedan, second was a 91 Volvo 740 Estate, third was a 97 Chevy Suburban, and then I borrowed my dads 96 Jeep XJ for a few years. Safe to say ive driven older cars for a while, so it's nice to drive something a bit newer. The car might not be the fastest, or the newest model, but it's mine, and it feels like the perfect car to transport my family in. 2.0L diesel engine, A/C works when it wants to, Manual 6 speed gearbox and "Swing" audio headunit.
  6. ^^^ That is a shame. I have a MG5 EV and the steering wheel is exactly as fitted to a Golf GTI.

Isn't the bounce governed by the tongue weight of the trailer, does the boat have outboard motor/s on the back?
  8. The Cambelt is conventional, the oil pump belt on the otherhand is 100% in the sump submerged in the oil - wet belt. There usually so reliable not many know they have a wet belt. Yes learnt lots and lots about them and all the subtle differences between the skoda and audi fitment. Actually been a great little engine to work on. Steve
  9. It will make more noise and nothing else but I think your Son should have no influence on your Car. When he is able to afford his own he can make his own decisions. It's a life lesson.
  10. +1 for more induction noise - absolutely no gain apart from possible dust ingestion from inefficient air filtration.
  11. It will make precisely no difference to the engine other than make more noise 🤣 At the end of the day it’s a citigo so while it it handles like a go kart it’s because it is. (My wife had one for 8yrs, I know exactly what they are like 😂) However, the engine setup is such that a ram air is going to look cool as fk down the Tesco car park of an evening but it’s really not going to do anything. Insurance implications - @DAN@ADRIAN FLUX or @ChrisKnottIns might have a little advice on that front?
  12. Public charging just seems so cheap here ie less than half the price of UK public charging. UK public chargers complain of the very high connection fees to the grid as one standout fee, perhaps in the EU they are mandated lower. UK electricity priced linked to gas price but that will change fairly soon. Greg Jackin of Octopus on the case and now has a 3 year role with the UK government. A few years back was returning the hire ICE car to Malaga but recall there was some temporary road change that prevented me getting to that closest to the airport filling station. On another occasion when returning a ICE car to Shannoni did fill up to the 3rd click as you click as you are suppose to with Renault ICE cars , drove the last couple of K distance but the returns guy got another 4 litres in or so and charge their exorbitant 2 Euros a litre. He absolutely brimmed it, like I use to in the Fabia 2 VRS where you could to a trick to fill up the expansion tank too. No issue like these with EVs, State of Charge is State of Charge but as was pleasantly surprised how cheap the per kwh hour top up worked out as, pretty much the same as public and presumably Day time charging prices at Portugal. Down in the garage of this hotel one guest with a PHEV was charging up from a ordinary socket and getting his top up for free, probably only at 10A, 2.3 kws but nice overnight freebie. If a UK government did every try to charge 20 VAT on electricity thru home chargers EV owners would switch to use home sockets and 13A granny chargers so it looked like normal home supply. Also it would spur on more home solar and battery use and take the EV charge directly from those systems, hundred of thousands already do this and it will be millions soon. Interesting development with Ecoflows Source products just come on to market, seems an answer for those without roof or garden solar to capitalise on cheap and free electricity.
  13. I guess people who have to drive to a destination hundreds of miles away and then need to return hundreds of miles in one go will have to keep away from EVs until their range improves. As for tax, I pay a fair amount to HMRC and my ev will be £195 ved (I think). There’s no doubt that some sort of pay per mile road tax will come in the future or maybe smart meters will calculate tax to replace fuel duty. As it stands that isn’t the case which makes this the absolute sweet spot to run an EV. You, Barrie Crampton, the MacMaster (who is actually taking the p*** out of the anti EV crowd), and the other obsessed characters are just doing EV drivers a favour putting people off, so many thanks 👍.
  14. This up for a song 92,000 miles full service history. Had some paint overspray on it. I've had to polish the whole thing. It's come up quite nice now to maintain it!
  15. The Moon is especially crisp this evening 🌛
  16. You can choose matt or clear (mine is matt) and the fingerprint are very rare and easilly cleaned
  17. @Vincent_83 - Thanks very much. Appreciated.
  18. Yes it's fit perfectly
  19. wrong coding, I will explain and post a link in a day or two
  20. In my Kamiq, I have added this one : fit perfectly and the confort of Matt finition is very good DisskinSkoda Scala / Kamiq / Fabia 4 Amundsen - DisskinProtecteur d'écran auto-cicatrisant avec revêtement anti-germes.
  21. Uk owner here, yes I try to run on E5 majority of time.I am a low mileage driver so extra cost doesn't really bother me.I have found on the MK4 and MK4 F/L I get slightly more miles/Gallon and a noticeable performance improvement. Also I believe i read about there being an issue with internal condensation with E10 fuel which sits for a time, I might only fill up once a month sometimes. I use Tesco or Esso E5 usually. I have fitted Front and Rear mudflaps to both my previous MK4 and my new MK4f/l. They look ok and cut down the mess down the sides. There is a guide on here somewhere on how to fit. here are a couple of links the process is very similar.
  22. Great photos 👍 Like to see someone who takes care and pride in their car. I try and clean mine, once a week and agree with the wheels, that get a lot of brake dust. Just think that the brake pads are a compound that is less durable and generates more dust than previous Skoda/VW models i.e. Passat TDI 2013 model.
  23. @Lee01 tried to gas up the A/C system before the summer heat REALLY kicked in when I had the car in for an aligntment, but it didn't want to fill it all the way, we even tried multiple times and no luck. Sidenote, when it gets hot up here during summer, it gets REALLY hot, so the A/C would have been nice, but it's not a "Make it or break it" deal on my end, all in all im happy with the car, and with power windows I can open the windows if it gets unbearable.
  24. Name them to shame them and i will get them to the top 5 Internet / AI searches for Skoda Dealerships. They might think any publicity is good publicity until they get what they will get for free.
  25. Its the 2litre diesel dsg. It wasn't bouncy before. I haven't touched the tyre pressure. Its a dive rhib on an unbraked trailer. I've been told its 750kg . Only bought it a couple of weeks ago and a friend towed it home. This was my first time towing this boat with this car. Previously it was a defender 110 with a big boat and was totally different as you'd expect.
  26. That's probably @Hyphons @Batwoman which he's only recently put back on the road which he'd paired with a straight through exhaust IIRC. I had the misfortune of following him all the way back from Rockingham Raceway and it made an absolute racket 🤣 He's a great chap though Maybe in this thread > https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/402104-davids-citigo-20/
  27. Well, yes to all the above. Being from the motorcycle industry, I have an idea about cone filters (yes, I'm that old) and general consensus is as mentioned, poor dust filtration and heatsoak. I did find a photo on search that looks like it could be a compromise. I think it's from this forum but can't find the original thread. It looks like this could give the noisier engine sound but paired with a K&N panel filter, still be better for the engine?? If anybody knows the source of this photo, it would be appreciated.
  28. Welcome along Graeme 👍🏻
  29. What solved it so others can learn from your experience? Thanks
  30. Front bumper needs to come off in order to remove the lower centre grille. I've removed it myself. Pic below of it. There r lots n lots of clips holding it in.
  31. I use 98RON in NZ. The fuel flap says 95 minimum. I’ve been told the optimum performance that is quoted is at 98 with a small reduction in torque at 95. Probably not much in it but the EA888 evo4 is a pretty high compression engine for a turbo (9.6:1) so it makes sense to me. The extra cost doesn’t bother me but I’m sure it’s just fine on 95 too and have out that in if 98 wasn’t available. I’m usually a stickler for not going higher than the minimum on the basis that it doesn’t do anything but there is clearly a detonation risk in a hot, high compression relatively high performance turbocharged engine so I see it as cheap insurance to get the most out of the engine.
  32. What's the point of this? How do you know that this tells the vehicle there's enough power in the battery?
  33. It’s item 27 (and quite possibly 64) on their Approved Used inspection checks: Appalling service indeed. I’d certainly be updating the review to (factually) downgrade it if it were me. Gaz
  34. This. I’d be getting it rectified with MO involved and then changing the review to 1 star and outlining in the review about the blackmail used to get 5 star ratings from customers..
  35. Cheers all - I shall keep you all updated 👍
  36. Great that they were stupid enough to put it in print. Here's hoping for a quick and favourable resolution for you. I suspect they will have no option but to fold immediately the MO gets involved. This will be hugely more damaging to them than a slightly luke-warm review!
  37. One might almost say blackmail; isn't that a criminal offence?
  38. Was this a Skoda Used Approved vehicle? Are you still within the rejection window? - I know what I'd do! Otherwise, quote the CRA to them. Once rectified or resolved, name & shame.
  39. Hello This is a 2020 plate, so I agree, fair wear and tear is a ludicrous answer. Obviously standards have dropped since I bought my last Skoda (now on my fifth car) as the air con ran out of gas after three weeks as well - when I raised this with them they said that isn’t covered under the ‘multi-point vehicle inspection’. As I say, interesting to note that they no longer mention the 4-star review, just prefer to focus on the fact that the door trim isn’t visible (it’s the drivers door, so visible every time you get in the car !) and it doesn’t affect the vehicle’s functionality. I prefer to focus on the consumer rights act, which states that a defect present at point of sale must be rectified (and is not decided on consumer reviews)
  40. When I got the white W16W bulbs for the reversing lights I did try plugging one of them into a brake light to see what would happen. When I switched the side lights on, the bulb lit up at full brightness (hence it looked like the brake light was lit on that side) and gave an instant bulb fault. So it looks like some of these LEDs will produce their full brightness at a wide range of voltages - some even say they work between 8V to 24V. I’m therefore sceptical whether it’s possible to retrofit the brakes and rear fogs. I’d love to know how these work - maybe there’s a resistor in each of these circuits to lower the voltage and current when just the tail lights are on, and perhaps the brake pedal switch and the fog light switch short their respective resistors to bring the voltage up to 12V. It is possible to code-out the bulb checking for each lighting circuit by changing some bits in the hex coding for the electrics module. VCDS makes it easy by decoding it for you and I think it presents a list of nice friendly tick boxes to enable/disable the checking for each, but my tool just gives you a big long string of hex digits and I wasn’t sure which byte I needed to fiddle with (or what would stop working if I got it wrong). Anyway, I’ll update this thread with any more info on my dodgy H3 bulb that throws a very occasional warning. If/when it happens again I plan to remove it and give it a clean up with contact cleaner, and also the mating surfaces that it sits against. H3 bulbs earth themselves through their body and the body of the light fitting, so if there’s some dirt reducing the current that could be the issue.
  41. I don't think you can beat a steam train in the British countryside....... LNER A2 Pacific "Blue Peter" passing through Edale in the Hope Valley on it's way to York this morning.
  42. Some shots from Holy Island. Settings were all over the place for the camera after Knockhill. Didn’t realise til afterwards. Castle is a phone shot.
  43. 1 point
In June, I traded in my 71 plate race blue SportLine for a 25 plate graphite grey SE, but have just got around to uploading a photo.
  44. No, I still thinking how to do it. I can't connect to 5Q1953507GF or 5Q1953507GD. It is subsystem under 09 module. I was connecting via VCTool but is grey... On stock server I found data set for that module, but I never flashed subsystes. A little bit scare to damage 09. Any advice how to do it ?
  45. If we'd like to add the coding for the steering wheel heating: Control unit 08---> Coding ---> Heated_steering_wheel_and_Heated_steering_wheel_automatic_mode Set To Active
  46. It's also worth mentioning that the pin assignment changes, which is what the adapter does. Many people don't use an adapter, though. Then you have a problem. SC39 with 10A wire, color red/blue, designation Z36
  47. I couldn't find any editing available about data set. When you say module you mean the KLR module right? is optional ,they are some people who using it Actually i didn't know that control unit alone would be enough,i though they a single unit 🫠 I quess about the wiring is not to much to say cause the adapter is mostly plug and play and + and ground are addressed at the end of the video
  48. Tried Valet pro "black to the future" on some engine bay plastics today, I'm impressed. Easy on leave 5 minutes and buff off, it will form part of my detailing kit as standard now
  49. If you don't have to change everything, you can do without it. The turn signal is important and the reversing light because it was previously a light bulb. You can change all of this under Adjustment in 09 in the individual lights.
