  1. For everyone interested, I put the newest versions ALL in ONE link: MIB3_Skoda_SW_1941_1969_1985_1989 I upgraded with this files one by one, no issues. Hope it helped.
  2. Insurance companies will go for the best solution for them. Car repairers will go for the best option for the quickest fix. It doesn't mean it's the cheapest way it's just the most efficient, Labour costs being so high. In the scenario in this video for the sake of a broken battery coolant pipe fitting Tesla would go for changing the battery, then sending the battery for refurbish and testing for supplying to another crashed damaged car later. Doesn't mean that someone with the right knowledge and time could not do it cheaper. But it does cap the cost to a price for the repair and keeps the car safe after the impact. The guy in the video says straight forward repair, see what you think?

Update 9 hours driving today start/stop worked every time so battery was the problem.
  4. Thanks, that would seem to indicate the alternator is charging ok. Next thing to check is that everything is actually switching off when the ignition is switched off - check interior and exterior lights including trunk light. Is the infotainment system original, have any changes or additions been made recently?
  5. I don’t read this thread all that often, but the last of pages is getting worse than a few of the last political threads that have been closed by the admins! Take a few deep breaths and as Lee said dial the personal attacks and the unsupported theories back or you’ll attract the people with the power to shut things down…
  6. I just upgraded my OBD Eleven account from the free version to the "PRO".. I was a bit reluctant as this is €59.99 per year. But there are some things I need to do just one of which would cost me more (diagnostic scan at my local "VAGTech" (indy specialist) is £90.00....) I got to check-out and it asked "do you have a discount or promo code?" Hmm I wonder! A very brief look around the internet and came across a pointer.... Let's try this! "Enter code DRIFT for 25% store-wide discount!" And it worked! £41.97 instead of £53.00!
  7. Dial it down a notch or two eh.
  8. My eight-year-old passed its M.O.T. with no advisories. This comes on the heels of a 2,646 mile tour of Portugal, Spain and France over 30 days. I had to have the water pump replaced before I went, but the car never missed a beat. Well, aside from losing some window trim on the autoroute at 85 mph. We spent nights in León, Santiago de Compostela, Vigo, Porto, Salamanca, Logroño, Bielsa, Sète, Grenoble, Colmar and Laon. I'm knackered! We had two days of rain (Santiago and Colmar) wore t-shirts and sandals in the beginning, winter coats by the end. I lost and had to replace my plug adapter, my laptop charger and my cap. I lost my phone on the second day of our trip, but ran back to the restaurant and the waiter was holding it. I lost my phone on the 26th day of our trip, but ran back and the barman was holding it. Sheesh! Santiago was a major disappointment. We were looking forward to our return after 19 years, but the town is a certifiable victim of over-tourism. Sète and Porto were the most fun.
  9. I tend to agree with the post of Evolution13 above, runnning now Fuchs Titan Gt1 Flex 3 5W-40, I could not find in stock the 0W-40 but I plan for "early" replacement ... The only thing that I am concerned is the possibility that, to get an even lower score in the darn WLTP ranking, and thus get away with oils with viscosity like 0W-30 or the 0W-20 indicated by the OP, in a high performance TURBO petrol engine, some dweeb at VAG thought it was a great idea to downgrade some oil-related component (say oil pump) so it would run "lighter" and diminish drag and so on, and by now using a higher viscosity oil, this can provoke an inevitable failure. If someone was to tell me this some years ago, I would have dismissed it as a joke, but now I am ready to believe anything is possible, as we go down the rabbit hole of the demise of the car motoring industry as we know it ...

So far: few flywheels one front spring both front drive axles (it is easier to change and almost the same price than only the ball joint) few sets of brake disks back camera Probably some stuff else, but cannot remember anything major.

hello, new on here, i am located in the beautiful Scottish borders. I currently drive a kia, but looking to change to a superb. i also tow a caravan. Looking forward to learning more about the superb, before i pull the trigger on one.
  12. The 1.6TDI came with 7speed dry DSG DQ200 (which is reputably the least reliable DSG) the 2.0TDI had the wet DQ250 as higher torque model and certainly requires a service (oil and filter) every 40kmiles. That service has got more expensive in recent years, my first one was around £180 in 2020 now its getting close to £275 as the oil price shot up.
  13. AP26 and AP21 are front wipers. Pre facelift models fit Bosch Rear A331H, but I've read somewhere, that facelift models have a different one. Not sure about this though.
  14. Hi all, Just wanted to say hi to all. I just bought a Skoda Kodiaq from 2021. Very happy with it, and I woudl like to learn a lot about the car and ofcourse share what've learned here again. BlackSeal
  15. There are those that use more electric or fuel to negotiate up hills and get efficiency back with regening down hills. There are those that want AC in certain summer conditions, and winter temps can very much be about location location location. Getting the engine fired up and the engine / oil to efficient temps are just 'simply clever'.
  16. On my 2023 Octavia iV I get a range of about 40 miles in the summer with the air con off and about 35 in the winter. The most electric range it's ever told me I have is 41 miles. This is on urban trips of up to 5 miles on fairly level roads. However on longer trips on just electric I've often had the car report consumption of 4.7 miles/kWh. That implies that if (say) 10 kWh of the battery is usable, the range ought to be 47 miles. It's very dependent upon gradients though - it's much lower if you have some hills to negotiate.

  18. Very true @Graham Butcher you never ever pick up on every word in others posts and debate them endlessly even typos. Well not often, not yesterday. As to forced soon to have a new EV if you want a new car, we will see, there will be a General Election and it can be all change. Not that it should bother those that buy used cars normally. Advances in BEV,s over the past 5 years are really pretty good and that might well be even more so in the next 5. PS I have not a Downer on Vloggers / Youtubers, but since they are on a little earner it does help boost their income when there is a 'Crisis' or an 'Issue' to get out a vid about when everything else is just So so. Following their experiences of getting on just fine and getting cheap motoring does not get so many clicks maybe. Then there are those that just tell a story from the Media or someone else's experience.
  19. Oh OK, I made a typo, nothing that you haven't done many times before, but I have the ability to realise that it was a typo and make an issue out of it, do I? You know perfectly well that I have an ICE car and that I have never owned or driven and EV, as do the other regular contributors. I also do not question or criticise any of you for choosing to go electric, I'm not anti-electric, I am anti being told that that people wanting to buy a brand-new car have to consider going electric and will be forced to have one before long if they want a brand-new one. This is because the technology still has a long way to go before it can rival everything that and ICE vehicle can do and do it well. Also I'm amazed that you have a downer on anyone deciding to have a YouTube channel featuring their life with an electric car and making money from it, its their choice just and if they can make money with it, then good luck to them I say, if they can make a living from it, why not? Add in to that, Just Get a Tesla is not all about bashing Teslas any more than the MacMaster is about bashing Porsche or electric cars full stop. I'm sure that he would be the very first to admit that he was a hypocrite if that was the case. He freely and open admits that he loves the car and the way that electric cars generally drive, yes there are certain aspects about it that he does not like, just as there are with mine and if you're honest, you must have about your car(s). No car is perfect, ever.
  20. Hi. Depends on age of car but my '54 Plate 2.0 TDi had a coolant bottle that had fatigued over time and the side had gone porous. I thought I was losing a bit of coolant due to a headgasket fault or a waterpump leak. Turns out it was the expansion bottle. Got one from Autodoc for around a Twenty and fitted it. Topped up with 1 liter of red coolant G12+ and it's been fine.
  21. I really don't get the negativity of some EV owners towards ICE owners or why so many apparently object to an ICE owner like me posting in this section, it most certainly does not send out any vibes to encourage anyone to join in with the go electric move, does it? I was asking a question about that poor Canadian owner's experience, which if that is typical, likewise does not help the cause of EVs growth does it. While I don't currently have one, reasons already explained elsewhere in this thread, it does not stop me and many other ICE owners being interested in them, does it? And for the record, my interest is one of professional interest as I have been all my life an electrical engineer until I retired, and still have a interest in all things electrical, apart from the fact that if my circumstances chance, I might also consider getting an BEV car as my long distance trips become less common and more city trips and much cheapness with charging.
  22. When adverts for recent Fabia Monte Carlo cars show the Virtual Cockpit (VC) display illuminated, the display's 'look' always seems to be like your 2nd photo. All current-model Fabias now have the VC, but the Skoda Configurator suggests the Fabia Monte Carlo VC will have red-ring clocks, but other Fabia models will not. It would appear, then, that Skoda may have chosen to set the VC default theme to match the Monte Carlo model's 'boy racer' red accented interior trim. However much a buyer of a Fabia Monte Carlo might dislike the red accented interior trim and yearn for the more 'mature' restrained interior of other Fabia models, red interior trim appears to be the no-choice standard fit - and that may also be the case with the red-ring-clock VC default theme. As I suggested above, it might be possible to twiddle a Monte Carlo's VC fairly easily with the right equipment to change the default theme.
  23. Thanks for the reply! Battery is pushing out 13.8V whilst idle and under load 13.5V. It doesn’t have stop start.
  24. Hello Tom, welcome to the forum. Have you checked the battery terminal voltage while the engine is running? Does your vehicle have Stop/Start? If so, was the new battery adapted (coded) into the vehicles BCM?
  25. Thanks, just googled it and it is from 2019 for the Superb and 2013 - 2020 for the Cctavia.
  26. I can see mileage reporting on change of keeper becoming mandatory instead of optional. Maybe a self report of mileage covered for the first three years then it's taken care of by MOT. Any false reporting could then be retrospectively applied by AI. I think people are underestimating the power AI has when given access to data. Things that used to take days and weeks to process and check can be done in minutes with linked data bases.

  28. @skomaz Tongue in cheek or tongue out they are very easy to drive, but like some other cars with ICE,s the IT / Software can be total crap. Top candidates are from the VW Group / Brands.
  29. Ok, lets get back to the truth about electric cars, this video of an electric car/truck owner in Canada believes he has discovered why electric cars are being written off so easily. I'm an electric car owner/user, so I'm throwing this open to you lot who are, for consideration, what are your thoughts on this?
  30. I see, maybe it should be changed just in case. Thank you dor the tip 🫡
  31. Ah but EVs are so easy to use with no anxiety... 🤣 Apologies that was a tongue in cheek joke just in case someone takes it the wrong way... I just couldn't resist 😀
  32. It's not a hack, the factory coding can be changed by any Skoda dealer, there are coding adaptions that are territory specific or in some cases greedy marketing departments want you to pay for something that you already have ( auto folding mirrors being a classic example.) Could you tell us who your Skoda dealer is please?
  33. @Benja77 all 3 selectable test it without other changes, then revert if doesn't work
  34. Thanks , I'll give that a try. On my 21 SEL it only needed a very slight movement
  35. The EU puts levy's on the Chinese cars to protect it's own Car industries. There are only 8 individual models of Car assembled in the UK that would likely be helped by the UK doing the same. So the benefits of getting people into cheaper Electric vehicles may be seen as the priority
  36. Karoq manual, Kamiq is DSG. No issues with either pulling away or stalling.
  37. Found Graham being interviewed (video is set to start, only 20s)
  38. Read your Wikipedia quote carefully, let me repeat once again, UK smart meters does not use BPL. There are north and south differences but all use wireless based systems. Oh wow, tin foil hat wearer here. And another WOW! Again, let me refer you to EV charging cable standards I posted earlier. You tell me how can a resister (PP) and a simple PWM signal (CP) do addressing and access a non-existent data interface to request a piece of data that is deemed not useful for charging and part of user privacy? The hardware to do any serial data transfer is literally not there on all the AC smart charge points installed up to now. Hum..... what are those powerline adapter things you plug your ethernet cable? Could it be extra hardware? You so deep in your conspiracy theories that you can't identify facts from fiction. You think fairy tales are more plausible than hard truth.
  39. Hi This has been solved, so the Adblue injector is water cooled, and during a DPF cycle this leaks and was causing my smoke, the coolant being that silicone based stuff does give off a weird smell. They replaced the injector and the hose , all sorted. !! No more coolant leaks or smoke during DPF cycle. Hope this information helps someone else
  40. Breakdown man cleared the filter but not fixed, needs an airline to clear blockage in the pipe, so booked into the dealer this week.
  41. Annnnd then I get a bronchial infection that took me out of running action during the four weeks break I had from work.🤧 Resumed running yesterday and back to 6 minute kms but no ambition to improve for the moment with a small medical procedure due.

Sunroof drain pipe? Air con water extraction pipe? Just a couple of things - genuine reasons you can find water under the car
  43. It is VW508 00 / 509 00. 508 00 TSI & 509 00 TDI. But it comes as VW508 00 / 509 00 Not backward compatible, pre 2018. If you want to use VW 504 00 / 507 00, so 0w 30 FS or 5w 40 FS III instead of 0w 20 FS IV then just do it. If you even wanted Non Long Life, Fixed Servicing with a TSI even after WLTP certification by VW Group use VW502 00, so 5 w 40 FS if you want.
  44. VW have recommended that 509 is not compatible with earlier VW oil grades. Manoil do produce VW509 oil, but I think it is more expensive.
  45. Re some cameras not taking power from the USB-C port: this is probably not a power limitation on the Skoda, but a design fault on the camera. It's a common problem with devices not working with USB-C chargers. USB of any variety is supposed to negotiate the amount of current when a device plugs in, and USB-C will also negotiate the voltage. In practice on USB-A the negotiation is often ignored and the device draws as much current as it wants. On USB-C, things are a bit stricter and a standards-compliant power supply will not deliver any current unless it gets the right signal. This can be as simple as having the right resistor in the power-consuming device, but often the device doesn't implement this (because the company thought that it would be plugged in to USB-A). In a few years this will be worked out, but for the moment it's a bit hit and miss which devices will take power from a USB-C socket.
  46. Yesterday's 7km run with 5':30" /km averages, which means I managed to knock off at least 4 seconds per kilometre from recent bests. Didn't think I'd really be able to get back to where I was a year ago so pretty rapt with this. Calves are hurting now which suggests it was achieved with a bit more rebound and less plodding.
  47. So for anyone who has similar problems ours in now fixed. We had an oil leak from the cover and a diesel leak from the low pressure return line in at least one place. Final replacements were the high pressure feeds to 3 and 4, new orings on the return line and a new return line. The problem with fault diagnosis and taking things in and out is that most of the parts are considered single use and to be replaced after they are removed. If anyone has leaks from the oil seals around the injectors my advice is don’t bother getting new seals for the cover, get a new third party cover as the seals come with it. A lot of the time the cover cracks anyway when you pop the new seals in due to age and heat damage. The tiny green o rings for the low pressure line need to be swapped every time you pop the lines. Obviously (and sadly) the hold down bolts and arguably the sealing washers and orings for the injectors need replacing every time you pull of fiddle around. Just my own personal findings!

Good tyre choice. I'm on my 6th set of rims in 1 year
