  3. Hello, welcome to the forum. If you have the folding type key fob (like penknife) - flip out the key blade, insert a coin or something similar into slot and twist, battery cover will pop out.
  4. Looks like a Mk2, 2015 registration but matches this diagram from the 2014 model year. https://www.startmycar.com/gb/skoda/fabia/info/fusebox/2014#anchorfusebox1 You need to rotate the image 180deg for RHD.
  5. Yes indeed, used the same stick for the Firmware and the maps Just got to sort this SOS error which appeared as soon as the firmware update started

Thanks mate. Was hoping you would see the post. Have a good one.
  7. I have the G13 already, just done the firmware update via @JR RS doc and it worked, now on firmware 1440 from 1163 Everything seems to work so far
  8. Not to worry now @JR RS I used your manual and upgraded the firmware on my MIB2.5 unit, went from 1163 to 1440 so a nice jump and also the Sport function is there now. Also for anyone else I was able to do this via a USB Stick, didn't like it via the Settings - System Information and then Update, had to do it via the maintenance mode
  9. I have always loaded as you say ... traveling in places where the various administrations and border controls are very ... curious about everything, the less is on sight, the better it is. Even if you have nothing to hide, is just a hassle. The best setup: not to pass the luggage cover level, and no bulky stuff on the seats 😉
  10. Until now, I didn't have to remove both panels of the false floor to save space. I was only saying it could be an option, depending on what you have to load in the boot. With the Kodiaq Mk1, I just had to changed the way I load all the things in the boot for family holidays. In my ex- Superb Mk3 estate, I started with the big suitcases or bags and finished with the very small things the tiny remaining spaces. Now, I start with small / flat things under the vario floor and then only, I load the big suitcases and bags. It helps keeping everything hidden by the luggage cover.
  11. I had similar problem. If I used handbrake the caliper would bind. I took lever off kept caliper upright and soaked overnight in penetrating oil then manually operated it as said. Took a while but eventually it freed off. Have a look at https://www.partsinmotion.co.uk/ Been using them for a couple of years and prices are good and so is their service. Alasdair
  12. Hi , I have a 2019 Skoda Superb 1.5 Tsi and the first change of discs and pads occured at 33,000 miles. The car has now covered 40,000 miles and all good. All components manufactured by VW ( came of of VW box ) However , a friend of mine has a small of fleet Skoda cars and his 2016 use to eat discs and pads for fun.7000 miles on the last set and he was told that that's the life of a typical life expectancy of that component. Drove straight round to a well respected independent VW specialist who fitted a complete set of pads and discs and he is really happy with the results.
  13. I don't remember but I can do it. It should ve over -35celsius, otherwise they should have mentioned it.

  15. @JR RS im currently preparing to make the upgrade to mib2.5, reading the instructions you created looks pretty straight forward, thanks for detailed guide. I hope everything will go smooth and wiill work😁 Currently waiting for display to be delivered
  16. I'm glad to hear my settings were able to help! To add to the source discussion, I only use wired Android Auto with Spotify set to lossless downloads and highest quality when streaming.
  17. Im not a diesel expert and you've owned for 6 consecutive years, so have been through winters before.... Don't under estimate though, higher current draw, lights, cold starts. Does translate into more fuel. As well as that ive seen quite a few posts before about the diesel fuel composition change over winter months. So I don't have first hand knowledge of what % impact that could make and to expect. Putting all that to one side for a moment. If you want to check things, alternator, air con pulleys, check bearings not on way out. Belt tensioner as well. Lift wheels. Check for binding brakes, front and rear. Check tyre pressures. That would cover some of the physical things.
  18. Oh thank God, I was starting to think some cowboy had installed something weird that no one had ever seen! thank you very much indeed, this is exactly right. Thank you.
  19. Pretty sure even the most useless Sale person or Parts / Service desk staff at any dealership will open the key for you. Just like opening an Oyster really, Just do not slice anything including fingers.
  20. Today I went to the dyno to further improve the engine's performance. The final result was 135 horsepower and 245 Nm. Now the Fabia is pleasantly fast. Below are the dyno graphs. First attemp Today's result
  21. Not exactly sure what You mean, but the car has this fingerbutton which operates the hand/parkingbrake electronically. As far as I am aware, all the Superbs are equipped with this specific solution. I always use parkingbrake to prevent stressing the "P" position of the gearbox alone, because the car is sitting most of the times on a declining parking spot.
  22. It don’t think it’s that type. It looks like this …..
  23. I arrived at a sound setting which is pretty similar to the one in the photo above - just with a little bit less top-end on the EQ. You'd expect a 'premium' sound system to sound pretty decent with all the settings flat, and only require a bit of tweaking to adjust it to the preferences of the listener - it's quite disappointing that it requires so much EQ to get it to sound good. And yes, the subwoofer is pathetic, really! Even turned up to its maximum setting, it's only just adequate. The best sub I've ever had in a vehicle was in an old Volvo V70 - an active sub which sat in the spare wheel well, sounded lovely (really deep and rich), and which could, when given a bit of a thrash, get the rear view mirror vibrating!
  24. Thank you. Just did this and other was hot and other warm. Removed the heater core and it was half full of simething brown. Tried to wash it but most of it is stuck there. I have to order a new core and hopefully it helps.
  25. @Tilt If it were my money, I'd spend it on a Hisense Mini-LED. I have a 65" LED Hisense my housemates and I bought from Costco in my second year of uni - £300 and it's still going strong five years, ten moves, seventeen parties, three vans, four cars and one stairwell accident later. I'm honestly amazed. I spent a while at uni working for Currys - as long as you get a decent one, you're laughing.
  26. Fronts r 340 mm on the 280 actually. The front pads r different between the 312 mm and 340 mm front discs. The rear pads r the same with the 300 mm and 310 mm rear discs.

Yeah I don't blame you if this is the only issue. I try turn off before I start the engine to get a routine but I don't drive the car often so have difficulty forming the habit. That helps generally, might also delays the next onset of the computer doing as it pleases too. I think that's how VWHAL 9000 wants us. 😄 Later (if I don't forget) I'll have a look at Derek's link and see if anything triggers my memory (I'd would need at least 100% charge for that and I'm not sure if I've ever had that).

Agree Travs...it was a basic foxwell. I did have a Diognostic booked in however due to the snow it was cancelled.
  30. A GPF does not use petrol to burn off the soot, the soot is burned by the temperature inside the gpf. A good run on the motorway at over 50mph consistently should clear the lamp. Revving its nuts off will just create more soot. that is why coasting downhill whilst hot can work. People made this same mistake with DPFs revving hard under load creates soot.
  31. I downloaded a manual but it didnt have the detail on the facelift version and it seems from what I can see...its a bumper out job. I sourced a USB-C flexible camera that plugged into a iphone and effectively created a borescope which had a little light. I was able to look behind and it was basically some leaf litter and spiders web. I wasnt able to easily access to clean it so what I did was attach a section of brake hose to an adapter to a hose pipe and then I basically sprayed the area blind holding the end of the brake hose with some long nosed pliers through the grill. Hope that makes sense. So managed to clear the fault and its worked perfectly since (except when it was covered in Ice when it was -6).
  32. FWIW I have just replaced the rear springs on my 2015 Superb 280 L&K estate with DCC but no tow bar with Eibach R21706 items. There is a marked improvement to the ride and control of the rear in all DCC modes - the previous floatiness is gone and it doesn't feel too stiff/brittle, even unladen in DCC sport. The distance from rear wheel center to arch bodywork is 39cm when unladen with half a tank of fuel (cf. 38cm at the front, on the original springs at 65k miles). YMMV, etc., but I suspect you'd be happy with a set of those, given I am on a non-towbar car without the LPG tank.

Even though I only use the Stop/Start selectively, I allways test it my enabling it (Stop) every time I exit the car and even with a battery SOC as low as 70% (VCDS) will still operate perfectly. The battery, a 59AH EFB, is the original and is exactly 7 years old. I returned very recently from abroad, the car had been idle for 11/12 days but Stop/Start operated perfectly after travelling the mandatory 0.5kms.
  34. That is another valid option. Thanks to your traitorous departure 😄we can get some insight on the Kodiaq ... kidding! Always a pleasure to see you around here, should come more often! I agree, on all points, you could consider a Kodiaq 1 some sort of .... enlarged Tiguan. And there appears a few coming in the used car market. Out of the crowd in my apartment's complex, I got a neighbour with a Kodiaq 1, two with Tiguans, one normal one Allspace, and myself with the Superb. Interior wise, between the two Skodas there is not much of a difference, space is very similar. I though the rear legroom would be more, but the higher roofline of the SUV makes up for it. As for the cargo area, it is shorter, but taller. You make your choice, for certain things is better. The loading area is higher though, keep in mind for heavy things. As opposed to Bap above, I almost never take off the vario floor, on long trips I distribute there everything that I can "separate", is practical like that. Takes a bit more time to load and unload, with lots of "fragmented" pieces of luggage, but it keeps the boot tidier, in my opinion. I think you could look for some adverts in the region and tell your daughter to go for a test drive on one of those as well, to put in the mix another option. Personally I would have gone for such - makes sense as the earlier runabout was a P38 Range Rover, very similar in size overall to the Kodiaq - but I wanted to move away from a SUV.
  35. DPF not regenerating and getting blocked? Check fault codes with a simple reader to find out what's wrong and get a good indy VAG workshop to have a proper look.
  36. I've had two 4x4 Skoda's, neither of which have had those selectable modes (Octavia 2 4x4 and current Kodiaq 4x4 SE). I live at the top of a hill at the edge of the Peak District where we get a lot of bad weather and also have a disabled child. I have never worried about not having selectable modes as both cars have performed brilliantly in snow and rough tracks. If I were you I'd stop worrying. If you're really concerned invest in better tyres rather than sweating over a mode button as they'll give you a far better return on investment.
  37. Which engine does the car have in? When I've done them on 1.9's, I've had to use a really long spanner to get the leverage to wind the tensioner off, doable, just needs the force/ As far taking the pin out, I think I've normally just used a pair of grips or heavy pliers and just wiggled and pulled
  38. I have the Tools die Change Immo but Austria is "far" away 😅
  39. Did this on Monday in my lunch break. It really is very simple and straight forward. Took 15 - 20 minutes tops. Was really having to press on the button previously and now the lightest touch switches the ignition on and off. Great guide and helped a lot. The clips are a bit of a pain but nothing too bad Paul
