Our 2021 Octavia PHEV estate has gone, replaced by a fully electric Skoda Enyak 85, which is quite a step up in terms of the spec. Usually I change cars when the old one has become unreliable and I am glad to see the back of it. This time I am sad to see the Octavia go, because it is still a fantastic car. Although there have been the occasional glitches with the Infotainment system (and these seem to have settled down with 1989) it has been reliable and a pleasure to drive, particularly in electic mode. If there was a fully electric Octavia, I would not hesitate to get one. The one problem with the Enyak is that it massive! It is also missing some of the little things that made the Octavia nice, like the sunglasses holder, the USB outlet on the rear view mirror, and the compartment on the door side of the steering wheel for keeping change for parking meters (and shopping trolleys). I still can't get my water bottle into the cup holders, and the position of these means that I can't use the big cupholder insert I had either. Perhaps I will be back with a Mk 5 Octavia (or equivalent) in the future!
  2. Hi, I would let a tire shop have a try. Hard to say whether it comes from the screw or from the hub... I also hope for you it's the screw Lesson's learnt: Use impact wrench, only to unscrew. To screw, use a simple ratchet to start, and apply the requested torque with a torque wrench.
  3. Apologies for causing the confusion @Rbz5416 @Tell Yes, I definitely have an MIB3 installed in the Golf. I did the update procedure as described here for MIB3, then after updating you can find the menu option to manage logos and assign logos in from the database update. In all fairness to phonostar, being able to talk to them in German has made my life a lot easier, so I'll try and get more logos for UK stations added.
  4. Hey, have you considered buying from aeromotors website? When you search for the original part code it provides original parts when available and also alternatives as well. For example the cabin air filter alternatives produced by mahle for ~10-15€ and by mann for ~12-15€. Personally I use non-VW branded filters produced by the OEM that supplies them for VW anyway, you save money and don't have to wonder if the parts you got are counterfeit.
  5. Reverse lights are the usual place to splice into for an aftermarket set. It will power on when in reverse then
  6. The original advice from Skoda UK was 5 years which was totally different to the whole of the rest of the VAG "empire", so Skoda UK have no revised their advice to be in line with the rest. IIRC it's start to inspect at 120,000 miles and change when necessary.
  7. Ask the mechanic what fault codes are triggering the EML. That is crucial information. Is it the 70bhp twin cam HTP, or 60bhp single cam version? Do you park on a slope, and leave it in gear, by any chance?
  8. Hi, I believe the timing chain and tensioner were both replaced at the same time. It was a full kit that was ordered if that makes any sense. Spark plugs I believe are fine, I'm unsure about the ignition coils. It is back in with the mechanic tomorrow so I will ask then. It is a 1.2 htp engine, car is petrol. Sorry I don't know what armour leads are? First car and only had it 3 years myself.
  9. It's not faulty radar, just stored errors from prevoius work. Enjoy your ride.
  10. First drive to work it’s about 186 miles return trip. Got to say I am impressed with a few things the ACC in traffic is very good. But when it sees a sign and just slows dow, is a little annoying since I know the Speedo is out in most VAG cars. Is there anyway to get the Speedo to be reading that 70mph is really 70? I love the fact I can have my work mobile and personal phone connected at the same time. I used to have a visor Bluetooth for my work phone before. I hate how Waze is cut down on Car Play so it’s back to having a vent mount holder for Waze. Still managed to play BBC sounds via Bluetooth Inc show graphic on car stereo. All very modern now. MPG was about 39 on the way in and 41 on the way back. Not worked out that cost yet but I get super Esso petrol for 155.9 last fill anyway. Hearing steering wheel in the morning was nice also. I can see with Lane Assist and the ACC I am going to get into a lazy driver 😉
  11. Just to follow up, took the car to the garage because they needed to replace some trim they broke. Standard response " not us, must be a new fault with the radar but we don't have time to the fault today" Ordered the above tool, cleared the fault codes and it's been working perfectly for 2 days so fingers crossed.

Indeed, An ID7 in Škoda clothes would be very tempting. I'm on a 2020 1.5TSI estate - and love it; 72k miles and going strong. Usually change the car at about 6 years or 80-ish k miles, so that would make it later this year. I'm not [yet] convinced that fully electric would suit my pattern of journeys and the distance to very elderly relatives so will likely stay with the Octavia for another year or two, allowing time for developments and improvements in both the public charging infrastrucutre/costs and medium/large estate EVs. A Superb PHEV may be a shorter term option but most PHEVs loose some boot space. Anyway, hope you enjoy the Enyaq...
  13. Cheers pal I have ordered the part from auto doc and the removal tools from Amazon. Hopefully I can do it. Looks easy enough.
  14. My TDI is approaching 210k km and then belt/pump/rollers will be replaced for 1st time.
  15. Cheers I've tried the gentle tapping it's not having it. Luckily I have 3/4 of a tank
  16. All readings apart from VCDS are confirmed by the multimeter, I connected it in series with the charger to get the charging current, charging leads attached correctly, + to the + battery terminal, - to the earthing post.
  17. ETA: low mileage also possibly means more gear changes, shorter journeys, more colder running.
  18. It depends on you. If you intend to keep the car a long time from now you might consider it. I changed the gearbox oil on my wife's Fabia 2015, 5-speed manual gearbox, countless mechanics, DIYers, engineers told me this is unnecessary and they are correct if I didn't care about how well the car might go in old age and accept an old car will be not as good as a younger car and put up with it. I also changed the manual gearbox oil to very slightly improve the old crude VW gearbox design and build gear change. I have changed gearbox and back axle oils on very old cars and been told it's a waste of time yet I have always found improvements, usually only slight but sometimes more so and always noticeable but those were cheap and easy jobs not modern scan tool required jobs that required plenty of attention and more time and patience. If I had a DSG (I never would) I would change the gearbox oil(s) and get a good reliable VW independent to do the work, possibly one that works on modified or motorsports cars as hopefully they are used to such work and hopefully work to higher standards. If you are going to be selling the car in the next year or three then you could more easily risk not bothering, or you could forget about it and the box could well be fine to the end of the car's life. Do more research and decide for yourself.
  19. There are gearbox specialist recommending that they do get Oil changes. Probably best to leave a working well DQ200 alone, especially at so low miles. @RickW was it you that had the failure with a Mk2 vRS that required a new MCU? EDIT. Sorry i remember now it was @AJR77
  20. Mine is having the no internet problem again (grey globe). 🤦 Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Last week official dealer tried to activate OEM towbar on my MK4 (late2025) and they could not do it.

The Peaq is going to be even bigger & looks like it might be available before the Epiq. It is a real shame that Skoda could not of got out a BEV Estate before more SUV shaped models.
  23. I'm guessing that what @JPMK8 means by manual installation is that updating the Phonostar database by USB doesn't automatically assign the logos. You have to go to the individual stations & update the logo from there, which will then show the logo from the update. At least that's what I've found.
  24. Is that a mib3 since I thought it was locked down. No manual adding extras like mib2. Yes it's the poor workmanship of the database not covering all stations. Obviously for Germany they do but as you move further a field. I put it down to being driven by what is on the Phonostar Internet radio service. If it's not on there it's less likely to be in the logo database. Vag being lazy and not understanding logos. I think I found a TRoc post or another VW site that reported stuff was still missing. Seat / Cupra aren't in the IDs so their injection into Mib3 goes in over the air. They don't get the ability to upload. As per the old POI import web based utility that had missing infotainment units in it, the mib3 files are similar. You do get an over the air logo update after you get an over the air firmware update so I'm told on mib3/4. Saying all of that it comes down to nagging phonostar to put missing logos in. I'm sticking with mib2.
  25. I have the MY21 brochure that included the Scout before it was withdrawn, if you're interested. In terms of ownership and driving, perhaps if you highlight the features of the Octavia Scout that you like and think enhance towing, and are hoping to find out if they're the same on a Kodiaq Scout, or people's opinions of them, then you might get more feedback.
  26. It was brought to the attention of the service advisor that there small bubbling around the fuel filler cap when the vehicle had its 11 year service, once the full service history including all the extended scope inspections had been carried out were confirmed, the dealership dealt with the issue in accordance with the Škoda TPI resulting in it being booked into a Škoda approved body shop for repair under the 12year anti perforation warranty
  27. Yes they can do Servicing without. Oil & Filter and Inspection Servicing. Then there are those with the Licensed Equipment that can do Servicing and do it properly & update the Service Record online. That is more than many Main Dealers Techs, Fitters or Apprentices can do. Some can not be bothered to reset the servicing on the car. Or look at an airfilter before 6 years / 60,000 miles. Or change a Filter each service of a DQ381 DSG.
  28. Totally agree; to me its akin to parking in a disabled bay, totally selfish and oblivious to the fact that spot could be a virtual lifesaver to an EV driver.
  29. Should get a parking ticket IMO.
  30. Mrs Gaz walked up to the Chattri, just North of Brighton this afternoon: Gaz
  31. Ordered a replacement chrome external trim for my superb mk3 sel executive on the passenger rear door from Skoda. Nearly choked at the price £83.16.
  32. My 2018 Fabia will be coming up to its 8 year service soon. It has a full service history from new and has done 43k. I see it recommends a DSG fluid change. Is this absolutely necessary?
  33. The first ones (factory) were from HELLA made in Germany, those made in Cz. There is no consistency in Chinese products no matter if it's a Led light or camera mirror, one day the list is full the very next day "this product not excists". No spare parts available, if it damaged even a little bit or broke you send it for recycle.
