  1. It's been a very long time since I posted anything here. Over the last few years, life has thrown a lot of curveballs my way, both good and bad. Some may remember me from the very early days of Briskoda, from what I remember I think I am something like member number 6. I was very active for a very long time on this forum, I started with my Mk1 Octavia vRS, one the first imported into the UK, then got a MK2 Octavia 1.9PD and then a Mk2 Superb. From there I had a couple of Audi's. Then life got in the way, both my Parents passed away, I got made redundant from my job in Dorset and times were tough for a long time. Today I am back in my home town, have a job working for a previous employer, and became a first time buyer in my late 50s after years of renting. My present car is a 2017 Volvo V90 Inscription with 2.0TD engine. I got it 5 years ago with 28K miles on it, and it now stands at 71K. So I am still around, I am not going to post much, but just saying hi. Here are two of the Audis, both taken at Briskoda Meets. Once is at Gaydon and the other was up noth somewhere.

Hi, I've been on Briskoda for just over 4 years but on the Superb forum. Tomorrow I am getting my 2026 Karoq 1.5 TSI SE L Edition delivered. 3 Months old ex demo, so will be on this forum now a lot, to learn about it, and perhaps contribute a bit.
  3. @Evolution13 that's a spammer, see link inserted into quoted text. Reported.

Well, been on here for over 4 years now, contributed some, and learnt a lot more. But time to say goodbye. But not to Briskoda, just this forum. I am getting a 2026 Skoda Karoq delivered tomorrow, so will be migrating over to that forum. Thanks for all advice given here, it's helped a lot.
  5. Best compromise I’ve been able to find is adding a TTS solid rear bush to the rear of the front lower arm and a poly to the front. The 034 stuff is solid and well put together.
  6. They were actually introduced for a few reasons not just air quality, which is one element and caused by a variety of factors in that location, including industry, the shopping centre and the sewage works etc. The other reason for their introduction was to reduce dynamic loading on the viaduct during repairs but that rarely gets mentioned as it's inconvenient for National Highways.
  7. Boxy. Simple and practical. IMO.

On my Amundsen 2 you can use either SD port, currently I have the maps in port 2 and music in port 1.
  9. @travs mine feels like new car now. In the end i went back to original bottom arms but also replaced my droplinks on the front. I went for 034 Motorsport dynamic+. Not cheap at £225 for pair, but the built quality and feel of the car is totally worth it 😊
  10. Not due yet if it was last replaced at 90K in 2020 - Skoda UK removed the 5-year cambelt replacement advice about 2 years ago so that their advice aligned with the rest of VAG world group, I believe present advice is around 120 to 140K without any time limit. You will find plenty regarding this subject on this and other VAG forums.
  11. ^ Looks very elegant and aerodynamic. 😆
  12. Dacia Hipster could be another success in the Dacia Renault marque...
  13. Colourful skies this evening and despite appearances it didn't rain!
  14. Ride is great. No issues anymore with shocks and springs. B6 damptronics with Eibach pro kit. Racingline links and H&R bars front and rear. I have three sets of Lower front arms on the go at the minute. I’ve been trying different front bushes to stop them eventually making a slight noise when they dry out during the summer. I’ve tried pre fitted, I’ve worked my way through suoerpro, and powerflex. I’m starting with polish now. I have the blue fitted but it’s starting to emit the odd creak again. So I’ll pull them out and try going up to the orange. I’ve also tried all the others refitted with a range of grease from polybush specific to marine grease to no avail. Just the front now though. The front lower with the tts solid bush is quiet. Obviously for reference, it’s always rebuilt with new bolts and tightened on the ground along with setting the adjustable links again everytime. Otherwise the thing drives really well and still makes me chuckle evertime I use it. The rear bar and links were a great help as well to handling and cornering. Yellowstuff rear and blue stuff on the front with their floating discs. Needs tyres on the front, but I’ve PS5’s coming again hopefully next day or two.
  15. Sorry @UndertheRadar didn’t mean to exclude you from that question! Cheers for confirming. Think I need to review your project thread! Cheers @MarioVrs Eibach is a def! Alu subframes all round…?

Hopefully its cured problem. Did read they need coding and 140 euro doesnt seem too bad considering garage prices these days. Glad you got it fixed Alasdair
  17. Same thing happened to me intermittently and annoyingly on minor roads in North Yorkshire. I just pressed on regardless
  18. I fitted mine dry as well as per their instruction. Felt weird doing it, but no issues since.

It can happen ... sometimes I misread him too. Sometimes he misreads himself also 😁 Me to myself ... all the time! 🙃🤪
  22. Yes i agree about 034 stuff, very good quality. How does the ride feels with your set up? I'm quite happy with mine atm. Still want to fit Eibach springs but that will be after Christmas Yes mine went in dry 🪒💪🏻
  23. After months, last time was 25th of June before the car went in to Skoda for warranty work. I washed the car today, been putting it off but after France/Belgium, Devon/Cornwall in the summer and then some other trips the car was filthy, more the wheels than anything Wash it twice due to only buckets!!
  24. At motorway speed the drive by noise is dominated by tyre noise, so EV or ice the noise levels are similar unfortunately, and can, in fact, be higher with EVs due to the harder compounds and structure of the tyre needed for their (usually) extra weight.
  25. I have a 2011 fabia MK2 in sprint yellow with a factory sun roof and cruise control. How rare is this.
  26. Skomaz - success (I hope) !! I had a closer look at the join between the headlight glass and the black casing and there appeared to have been a minute gap, literally millimeters but crucial. I've run a clear piece of tape all the way along the join and despite rain and a dip in overnight temperatures, the headlight lens has remained perfectly clear for nearly a week now. 😀I'm hoping this has finally solved the issue and so thanks for your feedback. I just need to make sure the tape stays adhered now but if the worst comes to the worst, I now know what the issue is and I can easily put some clear silicone along the join. Cheers Skomaz. 👏
  27. “The OTA update system uses the vehicle’s built-in mobile network connection to communicate with Škoda servers.” This should be explained more clearly. Vehicles with and without a navigation system have the SOS system connected to the mobile network via an eSIM with 2 GB of preloaded data, which should last 10 years (Proactive Service). What other connection is there in the vehicle to the Škoda servers besides a Wi-Fi connection to the home network—which is reserved for vehicles with a navigation system—or purchasing data from Cubic Telecom? I’m very curious to find out if carrier pigeons could do it!!! Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
  28. I was just going on what the signs were saying as I drove on the motorway thru these regions. Would have been a bit much to put all that info on the signs but thanks for the indepth, not surprised on the multiplicity of these reasons, cheers.
  29. Yep... In intrigued to take a look at one...

Again, you might be chasing ghosts, at least on CAYC one will for sure end up with ash mass measurement exceeding limit after enough mileage and regens even if the DPF is empty of ash altogether, it is just a calculation in the ECU that does not take into account DPF pressure measurements at all. Or in other words, if you make a 300 regens and drive 100k km, the calc could be e.g. num regens x 0.1g + num kkm * 0.3g (I pulled numbers out of thin air, just like the calc in your car's ECU) resulting in 60g ash mass "measurement" even if in reality there would be only 15g-20g ash in the DPF at that point. Conversely, if you use poor quality, ash generating oil or if the engine burns a lot of oil, you may find clogged DPF while the ECU's "ash mass measurement" shows 20g or less, as in fact quite a few people have experienced. May I ask why you are chasing after this number? Are there any other issues with the engine to even be looking at ash mass?
  33. Bumping old topic but this video extremely useful in having an idea on best way to get door apart and give maximum length of loom to work with. Not a job for the faint of heart or unsure with electrical.

Top Cowling 1.2HTP Škoda 03E103929A ? Need VIN to check properly, but that's what comes up for 2012 CGPA engine. Maybe it had something non-original on it before, if that doesn't look like what you expect. I will message you to ask for VIN. Dirt on the outside of the engine doesn't matter, clean oil inside is much more important

Looks like an engine cover's the least of your worries I assume you've tried eBay, Amazon and Skoda?
  41. @lol-lol While you made some good points, I did, however, say that at the current time their decisions are indefensible. We don't have the transition to electric, and we will be dependent on other fuels for some years to come, and we have zero plan to cope. Our gas reserve and storage facility has gone, and so have all the sources we had.
  42. Don’t do it!! How could you swap out a Yeti for an EV? Keep it till it falls apart. SWMBO has had her Octy VRs diesel since 2012 and it’s done over 140,000 miles with nothing major having been replaced. Kind of shows how reliable the older models are. I had 3 Yetis over the years nd wish I had never got rid of the last one.
  43. I’ve ordered the edition with relax package. I need the lease ASAP for tax reasons so took a gamble. Don’t know when it’s coming, will feedback!
  44. Not today, but Monday. A lovely Rover 110 at Cairn Lodge services (M74)
