AGM life and performance is superior to EFB, but will cost more. You will definitely need to get adaptation done if changing battery type to AGM - even if the replacement battery is exactly the same as original, you should still get the adaptation done, as it is probable that the smart alternator control unit settings will have altered to cope with any battery errors detected. Not all battery suppliers have the equipment (or are even aware of the need) to do the adaptation - ensure that you ask - walk away if they say it's not necessary.

Good morning, that is probably the original battery and it is most likely that it has failed. Prior to this failure, was the idle stop-start working as normal? Replacement battery will require adaptation (coding) - this really should be done even if replacement is exactly same spec and chemistry type as original. You will require EFB battery as a minimum.

I'd expect that any business performing this type of work would be legally compelled to have public liability insurance to cover customers property in their care.

Welcome to the forum. You say no warning lights on dash - but could it have been the front assist (AEB) kicking in momentarily?

I cannot see any acceptable reason for a regularly serviced engine, in good condition and using the correct oil to do this.

I'd suspect that the bracket had been damaged some time previously (perhaps by someone 'nudging' the grill by reversing into it) - but the radar sensor had remained in position until eventually moving through vibration, road shock.

In your OP you wrote 'full service history' do you have the record for when the engine oil was last changed - and by whom?

Suggest to investigating technician that oil sample be analysed.

Have you had to top up engine coolant at all?

If you can, try charging the battery first - then test the battery voltage while the starter motor is cranking the engine if you don't have access to a proper battery tester. The infotainment system code is not affected by disconnecting the battery - but it is OK to charge while the battery is still connected to the vehicle. Replacing the battery, if the present one turns out to be at its end of life, will require the replacement to be adapted (coded) into the vehicles system - there may be a forum member near you who could do this if your battery supplier cannot.

Hello, welcome to the forum. First get a proper (load) condition test carried out on the battery and check that the battery terminals are clean and correctly tightened.

Have you been able to measure the current being drawn when all modules should have entered sleep mode after locking?

GPS signals cannot pass through metal or concrete, even thick foliage can seriously attenuate the signal - so long as the Android device has a reasonable view of the sky through glass, it should be able to pick up the signal from satellites. If your car does not have integrated GPS, it almost certainly will not have the antenna fitted. A thought occurs - you may experience reception issues if you have a heated windscreen. Where did you have the phone positioned?

I believe in your case the GPS signal is from the Android device.

Hello, welcome to the forum. I do not know for sure - but I would consider it highly unlikely that there are any differences in the front panels - that would not make any sense, cost-wise, for manufacturing.

Hello Pikaa, welcome to the forum. What mileage has the car covered? If high, oil is probably getting past either the valve-stem seals or piston rings. I'd have thought that 0.5L in 2000km would be showing some smoke, particularly on the overrun - although being a TDI, this might sometimes be a little difficult to see.

Good morning, a compression test would be a logical starting point - then, depending on the results of that, check the valve timing, then the coil packs. Have you had the CV valve joint fixed yet?

Intermittent or short spells of running, such as you will very likely get from the ICE in a PHEV, will be much worse than sustained running from an IC engine alone.

Hello, I'd suggest starting with a good service with oil and filters, including new plugs and see where you are after that - it could just need a good run out.

I'm not entirely sure what version firmware I'm running - but to my knowledge, it may well be the original from late 2015.

I would estimate that a significant part of the problem is people who fit LEDs into headlight units that were not designed for this type of light source - which is illegal in the UK anyway.

Just a point - are you zooming-in on the area? A lot of map detail is missing until you do so because of the way map details are layered.
