the truth about electric cars
They don't need to be banned as they will / are simply becoming uneconomical and add to that an increasing availability problem with diesel those such elements will / are sealing the fate of diesels first and then petrol cars. Shadow fleet is massive and that does not include the huge amount that China, India buy and then refine. We will see what Venezuela actually manages to put on the market. If users want to pay a huge amount to buy a diesel ie the German marques, Land Rover and one can understand some of the logic ie driving on German Autobahns and farm /estate work but EVs are even encroaching on that territory but it has not been a priority over mass market sales and looking at the mass job reductions at German marques and JLR it is looking at the right choice even though the Chinese market, biggest in the world, is just about saturated with EVs now so they are gearing for more exporting. AI response on Shadow Fleet. (Venezuela now OK presumably) The global shadow fleet—comprising opaque, aging, and often uninsured tankers used to circumvent Western sanctions on oil from Russia, Iran, and Venezuela—is estimated to number between 1,300 and 1,500 vessels. [1, 2] Size and Capacity Total Ships: Analysts and monitoring groups like TankerTrackers.com estimate the active dark or shadow fleet totals roughly 1,468 to 1,529 vessels. [1, 2] Global Share: This armada accounts for roughly one-fifth (18.5% to 20%) of all global oil tanker capacity. [1, 2, 3] Carrying Capacity: Combined carrying capacity exceeds 200 million deadweight tonnes (dwt). [1] Trade Volume: These ships move an estimated 65% to 70% of Russia's seaborne oil exports, alongside sanctioned shipments from other nations. [1, 2, 3]

What have you done to your Superb III today?
I took mine for its first MOT yesterday and it passed easily with a comment that it's in excellent condition all round. As it's only 3 years old and has just passed 18,000 miles, it's what I expected. The crunch comes at the end of this month when the tax is due at £640 - ouch!

Oil temp while towing - help please
Quick update following my latest tow to Spain with the car and caravan. I have had fitted the uprated 190 twin radiators, and also the twin fan. Replaced the intercooler, and failed water temp sensors. Sadly no improvement at all. Was creeping up hills at 45 kmh to try and keep oil below 140C. So I think I either sell the thing as not fit for purpose, or a final spin and fit the £500 external oil filter!! Decision decisions.

the truth about electric cars
How soon are diesel passenger cars really going to be banned from being first registered in the UK, EU or Rest of the World? When will be the current date given next be rowed back on? Russian Oil and Fuels were supposed to be sanctioned anyway and the USA were seizing ghost ships, even taking them into UK waters / ports. DONALD TRUMP was talking nonsense yesterday as usual. Diesel is produced during the cracking process and before you get to lighter products like gasoline and uses less energy to produce.

the truth about electric cars
Diesel cars are only about 50% efficient at converting the energy in the fuel in to motion, at best. EV are over 90% at doing this. Energy density of hydrocarbon fuel is high but EV batteries are improving at a very fast rate, they were about 200 Wh/Kg but that has about doubled in the last few years and looking like doubling again plus rapidly falling cost. Diesel is going to be as dead as the Dodo soon. What was it about 4% new car sales according to the SMMT last month. A small blip upwards as buyers realize that diesel models are soon to be be discontinued so some die hards bought their land rovers etc before the model production is stopped to be replaced by electric versions. As well as the cars themselves there is increasing chatter that even the availability of diesel is going to be a problem in the weeks, months and years ahead with Trump pleading with Ukraine to stop bombing Russian oil and gas plants because of the world wide shortage shortage of diesel fuel. Diesel power vehicles could be even more efficient with more use of hybrid tech, heat pumps etc but they are already expensive, heavy etc and adding more tech will make them even more expensive whereas EV are much simpler and therefore cheaper especially as we have moved on from NMC chemistry to LMP, Na and solid state.

the truth about electric cars
Vorsprung Durch Technik. or Das Auto. Good Tag lines but really for VW Group the slogan should be 'Just do it'. Because they spin stories for years, £17,000 EV,s etc and never get to there. If the can build light and efficient and reliable as in properly designed without fundamental issues or just snagging faults do it. But it seems now if they are going to it needs the assistance from China.

the truth about electric cars
Volkswagon have just released details of their concept electric car, claimed to do 8.27 miles per kWh. This is based on their other concept car the XLintroduced back in 2009 and then the diesel powered 1 litre plug in electric, an early PHEV XL1 which was put on sale in 2015 in Europe only with electric range of 50km but the diesel engine delivered 100km on just 1 litre of diesel. This clearly demonstrates that the diesel-powered cars could be far more efficient and cleaner than they are today and help climate change. Volkswagen unveils the 'world's most efficient electric car' but you can't buy it

I don't even know what this part is called in English, all I know is I need a new one...
047253041A is the part code. https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/524557-felicia-with-heat-shield-in-the-intake-manifold/#findComment-5862650 I have remove it many-many years ago. I have covered the exhaust manifold plus installed a heat shield for the Intake manifold.

P0441 Evap: Incorrect Purge Flow 2020 Kamiq SEL 1.5TSi
The idea is that the charcoal temporarily adsorbs the vapours, then releases them to be integrated into normal engine fuelling when engine is running. Lossless and clean.

P0441 Evap: Incorrect Purge Flow 2020 Kamiq SEL 1.5TSi
It seems to me the trouble lies in two areas: 1 The canister should be sited so that no liquid petrol could reach it (short of a rollover!) 2 The logic in the ECU that the purge flow is "incorrect" is too picky - it's effect on engine performance is surely infinitesmal. Personally I really can't see why these "vapours", which would be free of hydrocarbons after travelling through the charcoal canister anyway, shouldn't merely be vented rather than monitored & re- breathed. The irony is that I only went to petrol to avoid the lunacies of modern diesel systems! It seems heads they win, tails they win🤔

Skoda Fabia mk4 2022 Lane Assist
The instructions below were copied from the digital Manual for a 2022 Skoda Fabia Mk4. No option is provided to turn off the Lane Assist feature permanently - it will be turned on automatically every time the car's ignition is switched on. However (as the final paragraph in the instructions says) it is possible to turn off Lane Assist's steering-wheel vibration through the car's infotainment display-screen's settings menu and, once this has been done, steering-wheel vibration will not take place. Lane Assist will still turn itself on every time the car's ignition is switched on, but there will be no vibration of the steering-wheel when Lane Assist 'intervenes'. BURTEQ offers a 'save the settings' memory module for 2021-2023 Fabia Mk4 models https://burteq.com/products/skoda-fabia-4-iv-memory-module and it may be possible to override Lane Assist's automatic activation on ignition switch-on using a diagnostic/code-modifying tool like OBDeleven, VCDS or Carista.

Non Return Valve?
My 3 cylinder, CGPA, 12v engine is struggling to start after it's not been used overnight. It turns over OK but coughs and splutters. On second attempt it starts straight away, as it has always done on the first turn of the key up to recently. My VAG code reader does not show any fault codes. I'm wondering if the cause is lack of petrol fuel pressure caused by a failed non return valve. Is there a a NRV in the fuel system? Or could there be an auto choke process that isn't working as it should? TIA

Skoda All-In-One Service Plan
@Evolution13 i bought my Karoq in April 24 (used 6 months old 1,000 miles) oil and filter service by selling dealer. Serviced again in April 25 and April 26, I asked for the Haldex oil change with the April 26 service. I’ll make a note for brake fluid to be done April 27. @Rory as you can see from the above - the services are 6 months out of phase with the first reg anniversary - the first service was 6 months early, free/included in purchase price.

2016 Octavia 1.4 TSI EA211: Brake Servo Vacuum Loss Strictly on Cruise Control / Constant Throttle Uphill
Vehicle Info: Model: 2016 Skoda Octavia Engine: 1.4 TSI (EA211) Symptom & Behavior Symptom: Red brake warning light / error on dashboard, stiff brake pedal (complete loss of vacuum assist). Frequency: Occurs roughly once every few hundred kilometers. Recovery: Braking feel returns to normal/soft after the throttle is released and brake pedal pressed. Trigger Conditions The issue occurs ONLY when driving uphill, and strictly under one of the following two conditions: Maintaining a steady / constant throttle input. Cruise Control is active. Non-Triggering Conditions Driving on flat roads or downhill. Uphill driving with dynamic, varying, or heavy throttle inputs. Engine idle or routine city driving. Completed Diagnostics & Results Check Valve (Manual Cold Test): Line removed completely and tested manually at room temperature. Result: Free airflow from booster side to engine side; 100% blocked from engine side to booster side. Brake Booster (Servo) Vacuum Retention Test: Engine idled for 15 seconds, shut off, and left off for 5 full minutes. Result: First and second pedal presses were soft; pedal stiffened on the third press.

'SOLVED' Front-end clunk when load changes
Hi everyone, Quick update: problem solved! The clunk was caused by a slight movement of the front subframe. I replaced all six subframe mounting bolts with new ones and tightened them to the correct specification. Since then, the clunk has completely disappeared, including during braking, acceleration, reversing and direction changes. I’ve now driven the car in different conditions and everything is quiet and stable. So if you have a similar single clunk when the load changes direction, check the subframe mounting/bolts before replacing expensive parts.

P0441 Evap: Incorrect Purge Flow 2020 Kamiq SEL 1.5TSi
It will just be fuel in there, not sediment. A pal of mine had a similar problem on a newish Octy, which was eventually fixed by dealer. They told him this: " They fixed the engine light problem. Apparently it is a known problem on some models, not usually on Octavia, where the vapour cartridge and pipe are undersized. The fix has been to replace these with the newer, larger, design. Done under warranty." I'd never heard anything like it.
