  2. Hello, i recently purchased a RNS 315 with DAB and Bluetooth for a decent price to upgrade from the standard SWING radio that came with my 2011 fabia elegance. I have read about the CANBUS issues and how incompatibility would lead to a power draw issue that could lead to a flat battery, I scanned the CANBUS using VCDS and my version is 6N0 909 901 which i think is the older part and has issues with the RNS 315. When i install the RNS 315 it does seem to turn off when i take the key out of ignition, or atleast the screen turns off as i can still turn it on after using the power button, the MAXI-DOT screen does seem to recognise is as i can access navigation and phonebook tabs, the Bluetooth connection to my phone also turns off when the ignition key is taken out. I am not sure however if i can keep it installed as i fear a flat battery happening from a power draw problem as the radio does not recognise the car being off. I have purchased a "1.6- 2.0 CANBUS quadlock emulator" to hopefully test it out and prevent it from causing a flat battery hopefully. Has anyone had experience in this subject and can offer any information or help it would be appreciated.

  5. Amundsen maps need to be on an SD card that had the correct ID so it is (or looks like) a genuine Skoda card (or it appears you can hack the Amundsen to accept maps any card) - I use a 32GB genuine card I got off eBay. Amundsen music can be on any SD card - I use a 256GB SD card.

I have spent a lot of time on this and made some progress. Firstly, for those who don't know (including my garage) the aircon drain tube exits into the transmission tunnel inside the drivers footwell, underneath the footrest ( same as Octavia (Screenshot_2019-05-22-21-35-34.jpg.9c10c83445932916cf97ab10ce1b31a2.jpg (1440×2560) Even though I had checked that water was draining from the scuttle under the windscreen, I took it all apart and found quite a bit! There was a build-up of debris (dense, like wet soil!) in front of the drain on the O/S, acting like a small dam. Just above there is a hole through the bulkhead, which should be sealed with a grommet - mine was missing. When I poured water onto the windscreen, which ran into the scuttle, it pooled in front of the 'dam' and whilst a lot went down the drain, quite a bit went through the hole into the drivers footwell just behind the accelerator pedal. I plugged the hole with a large amount of Bluetack, cover the whole area with Gaffer tapeand formed a really good seal - result no more leaking into car. I then removedthe mudflaps and prised the inner wheelarch covers away, to find a mass of 'compost' and dry leaves, mostly on O/S. Why this isn't part of the service schedule, say every 50k miles, I don't know. It would take a mechanic 10-15 minutes to do this and prevent a lot of problems. Having done all this andchecked the drain tube (shown in photo) was clear, I ran the car with aircon engaged and the drain tube end put in a bowl - water dripped in, so all seemed to be working, so reseated the tube end into the chassis hole and it then dripped out underneath the car. For the moment, I'm hoping it's all sorted. Placing towels etc. underneath the felt-type soundproofing under the carpets, to try to dry everything out. I'm now going for a beer and a lie down!!
  9. Please explain. I'm O-L-D. 😁😁 What is 'Patch Unit'? If using anything other than a Skoda original/coded SD card, is it possible to use a card larger than 32Gb? (I have several ......)

  11. Hi everyone, I recently picked up a 2014 Skoda Octavia MK3 Estate with the 1.6 CR TDI 110hp engine. Currently, my car only has rear parking sensors (PDC) installed. I’m trying to figure out if front parking sensors were available as a factory option on this specific year and trim level, or if front sensors were completely missing on certain specs. If front sensors were available from the factory, how can I go about sourcing the correct parts to retrofit them? If anyone has successfully added OEM or OEM-style front PDC to a pre-facelift MK3, could you please share links to the exact kits, wiring harnesses, or guides you used? Thanks in advance for any advice or links!

  14. Patch Unit and you can use every SD Card
  15. If you have Amundsen MIB2, you will need to use an official SD card. It may pay to get a 32gb replacement card if your original one is only 16gb.
  16. @ndm Did the earth cable repair fix your problem?
  17. It was a very good car, particularly with the 2-series Volvo engine!
  18. I drove one of these in Canada a few years ago, but didn't play through all the available MFD options.
  19. Ha, that's going back a bit, I always wanted one of those, alot better looking than my 340 DL

  22. I guess this has been asked and answered dozens of times but I've trawled and found nothing recent. A few problems. I'm really struggling to update the Nav system. I only have access to a Mac, on OS 26 Tahoe. Can I use a new card that IS NOT a Skoda original, or must I stick with what I have? The Mac seems to insist on writing extra files to the SD card and messing up the install. Can I simply 'unhide' and delete these files, or is something else needed? Naturally this has all caught me out with 2 days to go before a big trip - when a Satnag would be very useful ........... The Skoda Update Portal seems to say any SDS card will do - but it won't ......... unless I've missed something fundamental. HELP!!

  25. Welcome Aboard.... Noooice Car 🙂 Whats the spec etc?
  26. Would you believe that I'd just started to draft this response before you posted your reply, then had to rush out before checking and posting it?? I know precious little about the Superb 2 Estates but I did have an SEL one for a brief while... It seems like on one else is answering, so here's what I've churned up from what appears to be quite a common issue witth Superb 2 Estates with Electric Tailgates.... Hope that it is of some use, however small? I'd strongly suggest having the car VCDS scanned as this will (hopefully) throw up any hardware issues and likely help point you in the right direction. 28. So after googling and a bit of youtube, had a look at the left hand side and found the green wire broken and the yellow on the way. Hadnt got any wire the same size and was a job to get the boot back over but two pieces soldered in with heatshrink and the boot now works as it should.. Will do for the time being, but will eventually get a couple of replacement struts when it goes again..
  29. Out of interest - why didn't you return the car to the seller and wash your hands of it? I'm lucky in a sense that I bought mine nearly 7 years ago and it's been relatively trouble free until this issue.
  30. TBQH it's a lot of faff. You can get the car to do it if you pay for the infotainment annual fee & suchlike on the Skoda App for iOS & Android respectively. Otherwise you have some options: https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/ and select the area you need, download and put it on a memory stick and see if the system will update. Use Waze which is very up to date as it's users update it regularly, it also has all types of speed cameras, roadworks and capability of reporting live issues Use Google Maps which for very much the same reason as Waze, which it essentially is as Waze is owned by Google.
  31. @Warrior193 I ever had any showing of Automatic Gearboxes temperatures on the dash with any of the dozens if not hundreds of 2 pedal vehicles i have had since the 1970,s.. Plenty had a Overheating warning including VW Groups with a DSG or Tiptronic. Never had a VW Group vehicles with an TC Automatic.
  32. What was the cost to complete this work? Did you do it yourself or have the garage do it?
