  1. Stupidly this morning I wasn't concentrating at the fuel station. I picked up the wrong vpower pump at the shell garage and put 20 quids worth of diesel in. I should have known something was wrong when refueling was slow. Naively I thought I had broken the filler neck when shoving the pipe in. I should have relooked at the vpower sticker on the pump. My paranoia over the evap canister got the better of me. I could have sworn I did relook at the pump. I obviously didn't see the diesel sign. What a tool. I paid for the fuel and drove four miles. I already had 80 miles worth of petrol in the car to start with. I went about my business and got back in the car about an hour later. It wouldn't start. I pushed the button to start it, and it started, then cut out, with a message on the dash saying 'please start the car manually'. I tried one more time, and it did the same again. I left it 5 minutes, went on google and I couldn't find the answer. So I had 2 more attempts, and then the penny dropped. I looked at the fuel receipt on the passenger seat. Clear as day - Shell vpower diesel. That reminds me - I need a swear box for the car. I called the AA and they sent out the Fuel Doctor. 2 hours I had to wait. He shoved a flexible metal tube down the fuel filler neck and siphoned off all the diesel. He disconnected the big pipe to the airbox, and he disconnected the fuel line to the hpfp and connected that to a tall plastic container/pump, so he could draw all the fuel out. Once all the diesel had been sucked from the fuel tank, he tipped some petrol in from a jerry can. He squirted some easy start in the air filter tube and then got in the car, pressing the start button a few times to prime the fuel pumps. I could see fuel being pushed out into the container. The fuel line was reconnected to the hpfp and he made 2 attempts to start the car. The first one immediately cut out, but the 2nd attempt ran for a few seconds before cutting out. I got in the car and tried to start it, whilst he was squirting easy start in the air filter pipe. Eventually it ran smoothly, after i'd upped the revs. The air filter pipework was put back together again, and the doctor sat in my car for a few minutes giving it some revs. There was a little black smoke coming out of the exhaust to start with, but this eventually went completely. 200 quid lighter, I got my car back and drove home without issue. I think I've been lucky. And that's what the doctor said too. I hope someone finds this info useful, because when I needed it, I couldn't find anything on the 'net relating to an idiot putting diesel in his petrol skoda. And it was all fixed with the simplest of tools. I feel like I've had my pants pulled down and been slapped.
  2. Toto Wolff interviewed in Autosport says the new car is so fast because, ironically, Ferrari pushed them so hard last year. Toto Wolff says his Mercedes Formula 1 team was pushed to "burnout" levels by Ferrari last year and suggests it's "ironic" it has taken a jump in performance as a result. Wolff was making a pointed reference to the drop in the performance of Ferrari's power unit since last season as a result of a clampdown by the FIA, in the wake of the controversial "settlement" agreed earlier this year. In effect he was implying that in trying to compete with a power unit that many observers suspect wasn't being operating within the regulations Mercedes was pushed to make key development steps that have paid off this year, especially with Ferrari slipping back. Yesterday Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto said that Ferrari had been reined in by technical directives issued by the FIA that impact all teams equally, but Wolff suggested there was more to the story. "Another complete bull**** story, technical directives," he said. "There's a clear regulation on power units. "There have been clarifications in Austin, what is allowed to do or not, which were important, but nothing that was in any way surprising because if you comply to the regulations that was anyway clear. "I think the irony of the story is that we were pushed by some of our competitors to absolutely new levels. "It brought us to almost burnout last year, to develop and innovate in a way to be competitive on track. "And here we go, I think we made a substantial jump in performance from 2019 to 2020. Because we needed to last year, and that is a little bit ironic for me."
  3. Gizmo did a fantastic job of sorting the VCDS programming and even managed to get it to do some extra tricks! I guess that is what happens if you get someone who knows what the systems can do and is able to tweak things so they work! Very pleased and I do appreaciate the effort. Enjoy the beer and nice to chat about the cars of the future!
  4. I have an august 2019 SEL ...... Purely from memory (as I am not near the car) but in forward mode I have the bendy lines like this: In reverse camera mode I have the fixed Green and red lines like the picture from the manual below: These dont bend at all to show the trajectory but I do have the camera washer system so confused a little as folk are saying "High" has the bendy lines in the camera and washer system but low has the fixed lines and no washer system. Thanks Paul

When I was due to change my car the DS3 Crossback E-Tense was the only small SUV EV available. Whilst I do like the 2008, I wouldn't have chosen it over the DS3. I don't get this thing in reviews where they bleat on about manual seat adjustment. There's only me who drives my car. The seat was set to my liking on 2nd March when I got the car. It aint moved since and nor will it. I must agree with @shyVRS145 with regards to the glove box. Mine is pants. Cables wise, mine came in a bag too. I got both the type 2 and the 3 pin cables as standard. The bag isn't the best as the top flap velcro does a poor job of keeping the cables in if I want it vertical. It would be much better if there was an under floor area in the boot to store them. You can't have everything, I suppose! I had a nice ride to Seahouses yesterday. 77 miles there and free rapid charging whilst there bringing me back up to fully charged. Love it!
  6. Ferrari and bullsh1t. Everything I've read since last year's USGP makes a point of explaining they are slow because their new high downforce car is too draggy. It seems like this explanation has been out there so long and so often even the racing media believe it. So that explains Alfa's plunge to the back of the grid too does it? Nothing to do with say 50 to 100 bhp going missing at all - when the cheating stopped?
  7. Hi all, I've been kicking this around for a while, forgot to update you. 🤔. TL;DR; I'm aiming to offset our communities impact on the planet at https://ecologi.com/briskoda To that end, I personally do stuff, but I'm looking at the community, our impact, principally in delivering the community to you. I invite you to read on for yourself too. I had a few options, like a co2 neutral data center etc... That maywell happen when I can find one I think is a good match. In the short term though, I'm planting trees and buying co2 offset on behalf the forum. Which is essentially guesstimating how many tonnes of CO2 we burn for the servers/laptops to provide the forum. I've hooked up with Ecologi , if you signup to offset your personal CO2/trees, the planet gets bonus trees. CO2 The co2 is fairly easy, I'm covering it in excess this year. I'm also lumping in any miles I do for briskoda, which is nada so far this year. The assumption for our servers/network is roughly 430kWh per month in electricity. There is more in the whole chain, but it's almost impossible to calculate. This is about 754 miles driving for an average family car, or 300 ish kgs of CO2. I can only offset in tonnes, and the minimum is two tonnes. So this is easy, we're offsetting 2 tonnes per month. This I believe covers the pico/milliseconds of energy use over the millions of devices brisky data passes over to reach your eyes. Trees Trees, quite a few need to be planted for all the paper we've all used over the years. So inline with the overall goal of 1%, this roughly equates to 100 trees on top of the CO2 offset per month. Your own tree Each month from April 2021 we'll 'gift' a tree to a member. These are trees in the uk, with a what three word reference. You can save that and watch it grow from space I guess... in theory you can even go and give it a hug. Each month from the contributors to this topic/purchasers of tree clumps via our shop, all become eligible for each month. So buy once, your in the pot till I get bored, or the whole planet is a forest, in which case I'll be long gone, and so will you, mother nature 1, human 0. Month Winner April 2021 TBD The Future? There are some personal goals, I have quite a polluting hobby, driving lots of miles to climb a bit of rock. I'll be covering those of personally. Looking forwards for the community, there is much I think I can and we can do. I'm going to sit down one day and try to figure out the total since 2002... bit of fag packet maths required and it will have to be an overestimation too, especially for the miles driven for briskoda fun and business. So here's where your input comes in , thanks for reading this far too. Before I go much further, any other suggestions or schemes, maybe closer to home? I did email a few uk projects but no response, or not deep enough pockets, which brought my sad face on. If you want to add a tree or too, you can. Either under your own account, or add to the briskoda plantation/co2. : https://ecologi.com/briskoda and finally, they do have a uk tree planting scheme... which is what I was waiting for, although a tree is a tree. Thoughts? Each month I' also purchasing a UK tree planting slot. These are given initially to tree planters and other special awards. When exhausted or a spare slot, they will be awarded to a random member of freedom each month. 8. Hmmmm, mine moves about the same amount with the little finger but the biting point is a lot higher.
  9. Max would probably jump at the chance of driving a Racing Point at the moment and bide his time waiting to replace Bottas in the A Team. That would open the door for Seb to move back to his old team RBR.
  10. Exactly the same as mine Paul, I too have the camera washer.
  11. Had to join the forum just to say thanks to Chimaera and kevlock Repaired my luggage cover in 45 mins after two years of frustration and refusal to pay extortionate prices even on ebay . The only bits of extra instruction needed are : which end to dismantle . In my case the right end was the wrong end and the left end was the right end . : after removing outer end cover and shiny spring there are 3 press in clips holding 2nd end cover : and not to remove the fabric liner cos its a pig to reinstall . Had to use 17 turns to tension spring ---lost count 3 times. Used some teflon cycle chain lubricant on the slides to assist retraction relatively easy job with enough screwdrivers and extra hands . thanks.
  12. New owner of a Quarz Grey, 2018, SE, 1.0, 115ps. Not as smart or powerful as some of the great looking cars above, but looks smart and drove well this morning nonetheless

The reason being is that they absorb more road noise and also prevent that annoying sound of stones and gravel etc hitting the wheel arches.
  14. It doesn't - it literally just affects the gearbox - anything else that would be set into Sport is unaffected (so depending on what a car is fitted with things like Soundaktor, DCC, behaviour of lights, behaviour of VAQ diff) I tend to leave mine in individual with a few things at normal and a few things at sport. I never use eco mode as the way the gearbox re-engages after dropping into neutral coast is jarring - it doesn't rev match brilliantly and the feeling of 'clutch drag' is irritating. On the few ocassions i did try it, I didn't notice any significant improvement in efficiency vs driving in normal - the car will coast along very well in 7th anyway without dropping much speed.
  15. Sorted! the box of tricks on the underside of the steering column is held on by the poxiest little screw at the front. Didn’t have a bit small enough, so I drilled it out (sue me. This is 100% a bangernomics motor!) you then have to take the ‘lid’ off the box, exposing the underside of a circuit board. you then have to very bloody carefully, prise this down away from the connectors that plug into it (after removing the black and yellow connectors at the very back of the board, which go under the dash) Once prised away, you’ll see two clips to be eased off, then the second half of the lid will come away. Now you can pull the clock spring/sensor stuff forward (clips again) and get your indicator stalk off. refit is the reverse of removal. That job has done me in today. Only way I clocked about removing the board was a video on retrofitting CC to a mk5 golf. The board had to be replaced so I figure it must pull away. Handsfree kit ✔️ Bluetooth Streaming ✔️ Working Cruise Control ✔️ Deffo time for a beer 🍺 😁
  16. Thanks muchly! Had a good google but seemed to be getting conflicting info. I’ll have a gander and pick it back up tomorrow. Spent the morning fitting and testing my connects2 handsfree/streaming kit and then started this. Beer o’clock anyone? 😁

Yes. Maybe just not put in the Media cars they are driving. But then Vauxhall want around £500 for a 3 pin charger cable and have none in stock. You can get 10 meter ones for around £240, with a nice case. Heavy though. I have a Tote box that fits between the seat and back of car that holds them, and makes the area flat with the seat folded forward. Since there is no space really behind the drivers seat for an adult with legs the charger cable bag can go there.

Doh, could she not see that the furthest away compartment is wider, takes the manual long ways so really those that actually bother to look might see in right hand drive PSA cars that furthest left is a suitable space and in some a slot for the owners manual, leaving the cubby hole free for the 'string back driving gloves' and reading specs. Some people might not bother to actually look though or just say something about no space for an owners manual. Like @ 7 minutes. ^^^ You can see the shaped space for the manual if you actually look and the glove compartment lid still closes. Below is the Opel / Vauxhall e-Corsa place to the left for the Owners manual.
  19. Thanks all for the replies, I appreciate the feedback. All the points are really good, and very convincing, so I've decided.... I'm keeping my Fab!! PS Jars, I'm glad you still have yours, I can imagine a cambelt snap potentially being v bad.
  20. This got me searching Google. I came across Professional Retrofits Limited who state: "We are pleased to offer a rear view camera systems for Skoda Karoq. Rear view camera for Skoda Karoq is available only in Highline version. Version HIGH comes with additional rear view camera module and it will provide dynamic, moving guidelines, and also it would also provide a two parking modes. Transverse parking, useful to park into a slot which is transverse to the driving direction on for reverse driving into a longer entry and parking mode 2, Longitudinal parking, useful for parking into a slot along the driving direction on a curb. Skoda Karoq camera will start working as soon as you put your car into reverse gear. It shows the area behind your car on your radio or radio navigation system display offering you a clear reversing image with easy-to-follow guidelines." From what I can gather there is also a cheaper "Low" version that I assume is the one fitted to cars with fixed lines. tom
  21. Keep it. Had mine for 10 years this January and like you not much maintenance needed at all. You could sell this car and end up with a lemon, so I would change it only when I had to. Mine is an ‘05 on 145k and do between 6 & 9k a year. (Average is 7 over the last 10 years) and only had to replace one boost hose, lower engine mount and DMF. Oh, my cam belt did snap, but that was after the garage told me it wasn’t due and 6 weeks later it went!
  22. I always tell my insurer when I fill up with fuel as it only came with half a tank of (Texaco, I think) and always brim it with Tesco or Shell. Apparently "it's not necessary to declare that sir" but I'm taking no chances 😆
  23. Hi, Simple question, was the Auto Hold button ON, when you tried to make your hill start with your trailer? It may generate an additional resistance. Possible explanation for stalling... I´ve modified the setting of the Auto Hold with my VCDS cable to enable restart with less rev. It’s much smoother now. Though I don’t tow at all, I assume it could help. 🤔
  24. Not sure what you mean here, but the file "metainfo2.txt" and the two folders "Mib1" and "Mib2" (and all their contents) should be copied to the root of the USB stick. So when you open the USB stick using File Explorer in Windows you see the following - What you don't want to do is create a new folder on the USB stick and have these items inside that folder.
  25. Also, I was lead to understand a dealer was supposed to disclose any KNOWN faults or accident/repair, etc whereas a private seller can remain tight lipped. I guess the main thing there though is the term KNOWN... If they were unaware themselves, its a different ball-game and unless proof could be given that they knew! If you informed them of the faults you spotted, they do now know, even if they did not disclose them to you. It is a bit of a minefield!
  26. Sally Ash, Slash!
  27. i have bad memory, hence i'm having trouble remembering wat i've done. very very bad memory 😜 besides, my calculator doesn't work.
  28. Yours was not the response I took issue with 😁. I know visual impairment makes life difficult, a friends son has “cone myopathy” and I hate the deterioration I can see in one so young. Nature can be so cruel 😢
  29. Keep. 102k Miles is nothing for that car. Yes things will go wrong but hopefully nothing too expensive, what you save on depreciation you may spend on some repairs. Nothing gives the bang for the buck this vRS gives with economy to boot. These will become collectors items if not already and yours is a keeper
  30. Keep Keep Keep ! Or maybe I wasn't clear enough Keep You have minded that car so well and somebody else will only get the benefit What can you replace it with ? Sommit modern and boring ! If you keep her in the manner she is accustomed to then for sure she will last at least another 15 years and 200k miles !
  31. As long as you like it and it's not rusty, I'd stick with it. Low mileage won't really cause a PD any problems compared to a modern diesel.
  32. Better to have learned the lesson putting diesel in a petrol engine and not the other way around especially on a common rail diesel.
  33. Amazing, 3 or 4 clicks either side and the noise is gone. Thanks to all
  34. the problem was the fan module. It was sticking on sometime when activated either through temp sensor or when performing a regen. Whole new unit was needed. Hope it helps anyone with a similar issue
  35. I ordered it from maxidily.cz While their website didn’t offer shipping to my location (Belgium), a quick back and forth email exchange AMS everything was settled. Great customer experience. The part number of the steering wheel I installed is this: 3V0419091AFBGW
  36. ok thanks i will buy one and go from therr will let you know how i get on thanks for your help skoda could have told me that
  37. theres plenty of threads along the line of "i just spotted this for sale" - link to advert - " going for a look and a drive on Tueaday, will let you all know" roll forward to Tuesday... " drove it, and im very disappointed.. idle felt really rough and you cant see the rust starting around the sills in photos but its there, wont be taking it any farther" no issue with you doing similar
  38. Nah, it's 'cos VW tarnished the image of all diesel engines considerably with their duplicity. They are still significantly better for the planet, due to lower CO2 emissions.
  39. Really enjoying the car now, little glitch on it lately (im not one to only show the good stuff as you can tell) was filling up the washer fluid and thought there was a bolt missing from the downpipe but since its always had a Vband before i kept doubting myself so fired a quick email to darkside just to check and they said there should be one there and looks like it had fell out so would send me a conversion kit to studs and nuts instead which they posted out on tuesday at no cost so top customer service as usual. Then last night was driving to a friend to visit them on the motorway, no high speeds or full throttle runs just crusing then put on a little throttle to overtake someone and i heard a ping then the car got really loud. Got off the motorway and pulled over and the other bolts had came out and the downpipe had fell off. Had to then drive it to my mechanic up here to drop it off at his house which involved driving with all the windows down so i didnt gas myself to death 🤣 killer of a headache today i can tell you that. new parts arrived today and managed to source a gasket locally as thankfully thats a factory part All fixed again and new pads fitted, EBC Bluestuff an upgrade from the yellowstuff pads, never had an issue with yellowstuff but want to try these as this gets to higher speeds alot quicker Absolutely loving the car now, trying to get into TOTB to get runs at elvington but they aren't replying to messages and also noticed that Terminal Velocity and doing some rolling half mile events this weekend to. Has seen 163mph on the clocks so far.
  40. Hello Hamish 👋 My first Skoda was a Mk1 Superb. Class leading for room inside, had a feel of quality about it and was a joy to own. A Merc driving colleague took the Michael about it for a while, then I suggested he come out in it, except as we got to it I gave him the keys. Mickey taking stopped, and as we walked back to the office he looked back at the car and nodded - 'nuff said 😎 Gaz
  41. Just to update my situation. My iV was ordered end Feb. At the start of July my dealer gave me a build week 33 (mid August). Thought I would double check this with Skoda live chat today and they confirmed build week starting 10th August. So prob get the car end of September as can take 4-6 weeks to get to the dealer!!!
  42. Car was still jacked up on some photo’s and will settle when I drive it next on Thursday.
  43. well theres an extra thicket growing now.... and another Tonne of Carbon offset
  44. Had it valeted yesterday including engine bay. Would normally do it myself but struggling to find the time lately. Today, trip to Birmingham to get our Multimac 3 seater child seat installed in preparation for baby #3. Amazing product that allows you to get 3 kids across the middle of the car, which is normally pretty difficult due to the size of kids car seats (there's also a 4 seater version). Also on the round trip journey, I achieved 41.4 avg mpg round trip (6.82l/100km). Not bad for a thirsty 2L (220ps sportline).

Reading all the responses to your original question, you've got one hell of a problem pal. People who come on this forum are generally trying to be helpful. Your attitude stinks, and I wouldn't trust you with a bicycle, let alone a car! Do one!

There are plenty of members on the forum who own VCDS, including myself. As I'm also in Norfolk, I'm probably not that far away from you depending exactly where you're based. I'm happy to follow the instructions given by ZacDaMan72. However, you have to realise that the control module software version do change frequently so although the instructions may be perfect for another Kodiaq, it does not mean they'll be correct for yours. I'll take the normal sensible precautions, namely taking an autoscan and also adaption maps from any module I make changes to. At least this way, you know what changes have been made and can revert them if needed. I cannot guarantee success but I can certainly take a look. Otherwise, you're more than welcome to try coding it yourself with my interface. If you've not used VCDS, I wouldn't recommend this option as its trivial to create problems rather than fix them Just to point out, any changes that either of us make are completely at your own risk. I am not a business and I accept no liability for any issues either directly or indirectly caused by using VCDS on your vehicle. Don't get me wrong, I'm not expecting any problems. I've worked on 10's of vehicles, including my own, without issue but if warranty and liability are something your concerned about, you should use a dealer or garage that's familiar with this style of retrofit.

Great job deciphering. What I don't understand is why OP has such an aggressive demeanour towards people that are just trying to understand what they're saying. Anyways, the following coding needs to be done for the towbar: STG 19 Gateway Adaptation: Activate towbar/anhanger STG 10/76 Parking Aid Long coding: Activate byte 3 bit 1 STG 13 ACC (if you have it) Long coding: Activate byte 3 bit 3 STG 6C Rear View Camera Long coding: Activate byte 4 bit 0 STG 6D Tailgate Long coding: Activate byte 1 bit 7 STG 03 Brake Electronics Adaptation: Trailer Stabilisation - set to active STG A5 Driver Assist Camera Long coding: Activate byte 11 bit 0 STG 3C Lane Change Assist Long coding: Deactivate byte 2 bit 4 Long coding: Activate byte 2 bit 5 STG 01 Engine Electronics Long coding: Activate Byte 5 bit 4 STG 09 Central Electronics Adaptation: Towbar/Anhaengeranschulssgeraet - set to installed
  48. Finally.....Gandalf is now complete that we have Skirts!!! Why did Skoda designers not put side skirts on the Superb?!?!? I've fixed them, in my eyes, with Rieger side skirts. 😊 Tis a few months of planning to get the things shipped half way across the world, only to have the courier lose it for almost 4 weeks!! Very happy with the quality and fit of the Rieger skirts 👍 Very happy with the paint job 👍 woOot.
