  1. Just a little note to thank all for their input. Some very helpful thoughts. In the end I have secured a 272 Sportline fully loaded. About 11 months old. Should have it in Ireland by the end of next week. Very excited. Once its here I'll post some pics.
  2. Skoda sent road side assistance to investigate it, they diagnosed a faulty oil pressure relief valve and replaced it. All seems Ok now.

Ah. memories! Time was, back in 2010 we were all anally tracking ''Highway" named ships from Emden to see where our much delayed Yetis were! https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home/centerx:-12.1/centery:44.3/zoom:4 Enjoy !
  4. As far as I remember the differences were purely cosmetic.
  5. Well I changed mine. I had to as a need of 4x4 came up to family. So I sold the Roomie that grew up my children and served us for 10 years and 153.000Km and bought a used MK1 2003 Octavia 1.8T 4x4 Estate / Combi (1U5) having 178.000km on clock from a private seller. Unfortunately there is no chance for buying a brand new car. It was a very interesting decade being part of the Roomster section of Briskoda. Roomsterians are amazing bunch of fellas, kind and helpful thus I will keep visiting this corner of Briskoda. I would like to thank you all for all help you gave to me.
  6. Finally got the floor finished, I used the garage floor epoxy resin from Resincoat, two thick coats has seen it transformed. So, no excuses to get back on with the yellow one..... he says hopefully. In other news the Black daily vRS Fabia is moving onto pastures new, i'll update that thread accordingly. Cheers Matt

Hi all, been a while but this is my car currently. But undergoing some major changes come October.
  8. I refer you to my post of the 26th August...
  9. Backdrop's rubbish, and I don't know why, but it's always this one that makes me smile: Gaz
  10. Took this photo during lockdown, on one of my short drives to keep the car all charged up. Yes I know, a bit naughty driving out during that period. This was taken on my Samsung phone camera near the Ridgeway Hills, which are situated just behind the car out of sight. As you can see, great weather back then in May.
  11. Illegal to vent crankcase fumes to atmosphere, as well as antisocial and potentially rather dangerous for other road users if oil drips onto the road.
  12. So that's five weeks now from build to handover! That'll push mine back to the third week of November then from a build week 42 :(
  13. Yes my dealer made me aware that it was bring built next week
  14. I believe Hue now works with Hive, although I have no personal experience of it.
  15. Enyaq 80 kerb weight 2075-2293kg Kodiaq RS kerb weight 1895kg-2015kg. So I meant 200kg more average weight but there is an almost 400kg difference at the ends of the scale.
  16. I spoke to the dealer as all I had received from Skoda was that they had received my order. Be interesting to see when Skoda actually contact me again about the build. But good to know it's in progress - dealer also confirmed it's an MY21 build.
  17. A good point well made. Put your car on the public weigh bridge and see what it actually weighs. 300kg difference depending on who is printing the Kerb Weight. There are so many dodgy weights given. So lets say we go with Skoda weights. That will be without optional extras. Maybe the driver and passengers will be vegans or vegetarians. Just skinny things.
  18. Skoda measure their kerb weight from the DIN figure which includes a 90% full tank of fuel then add the 75kg driver on top of that. An Enyaq 80 is already 300kg heavier than a Kodiaq RS so we'll have to see whether the low centre of gravity can counteract the sheer mass - the Kodiaq RS handles well compared to similarly sized SUVs even with it's somewhat low tech suspension setup.
  19. You I don't have to apologise for simple record keeping. If I needed to find a positive out of the covid crisis, my fuel consumption for the last 12 months is £417.48. Since 16 March, it's a mere £17.34. That's how I afforded my new OLED television. Well, that and a cheque for $1,200 signed by Don J. Trump. Talk about silver linings...
  20. I have had a version 1 Hive setup for quite a while which controls both my heating and hot water. Like Lady Elanore I found it easy to install, I like the app and it has performed well. However I do not have any other smart devices, Echo or Google Home so I cannot comment on their integration. Overall I am very happy with it.
  21. You really need to try driving a EV. Actually they need to be put on Dynos because as Skoda / SEAT might sometimes be down playing models performances over the years because funnily Audi or VW want their heavier cars to look better because they are more expensive, EV manufacturers are having vehicles get good insurance group numbers. 'Not many are driving around in family sized SUV type vehicles/ or People carriers about at the 'Kerb Weight', or maybe the issue is that too many do drive 7 seaters around with only 1 or 2 seats occupied, with the need for speed on the occasional overtake' 'Feels fast', 'mid range torque'. You do not want feels or sounds fast, you want actually is fast from the throttle floored and forget fake sounds generated to go with the fast feeling. Full range torque makes a difference. The Skoda EV is not going to be towing much in the way of trailers etc if only able to go to 1,200kg. Kerb Weights are interesting. ICE vehicles need fuel in that tank, maybe a full tank. Then passengers in a vehicle and acceleration might well have any vehicles being compared a few hundred KG heavier than the Manufacturers figures with some 60kg driver only. http://www.ev-database.uk/car/1282/Skoda-Enyaq-iV-RS
  22. It took a few weeks for my left foot to stop twitching to do something after going dsg in my 2017 yeti, and to learn to have confidence in it. No going back now, will never have another manual car again by choice. I now drive a dsg Karoq where it is combined with auto handbrake and is even easier to drive. Unlike the Yeti now no need to keep my foot on the brake when stationary to stop the car trying to engage the clutch. I now know that was a feature sadly missed on the Yeti dsg.
  23. There are lots of fake and low quality xenon bulbs on the market. If you didn't buy a reputable brand from an authorised reseller, they could just be dodgy bulbs
  24. Also, some of the emissions limits that manufacturers must meet cause conflicting constraints, causing compromised fuel efficiency. For example, modern diesel engines could be much more fuel efficient if there were no limits for NOx output. Tuners are not so bound by regulation; arguably not at all, as long as the results of their tweaking don't cause MOT issues (NOx is not measured at MOT).
  25. I have Hive and found it super easy to fit and set up. I simply removed the old standard fit thermostat and plugged the new 'switching' plate in it's place, as it has the same standardised size and connector fittings (you need a small jumper wire installing as well), plugged the hub into my router and powered up the thermostat. Job done. I now have several hive lights and motion sensors too and they all work pretty seamlessly with remote operation on a phone as well as with a Google pebble thing and the Alexa thingummies (I have both). The Amazon Fire Cube jobbie is very convenient to use with the remote control (using voice commands) and you can alter lights and ask for a specific percentage brightness, turn the heating to a desired temp etc. All in all I'm a big fan. Lots of individual timers set for my lights and temp settings across the week and also many shortcuts on my phone app, so, for example, I can boost the temp, turn all the lights off etc with a simple button press
  26. Could play it extra safe and take the wheels off before leaving the car unattended, no chance of it rolling anywhere then .
  27. Hate it when I have to replace my headlines... Do you need to go into "Car" on your main display and simply reset the warning?
  28. I can highly recommend the Kenwood dnx521dab headunit that I currently have in my 2010 superb. Coincidentally it’s coming out of the car on Monday when I upgrade to a mk3 so it’ll be going on eBay if you’re interested! parts will include: head unit canbus module conversion loom (plug and play) FM Ariel booster/converter ipod classic lead skoda superb mk2 oem fascia sat nav receiver and metal backplate hands free microphone. literally everything you could need apart from a dab antenna (as mine is windscreen mounted so it’s staying put!). the whole lot will be going on eBay Monday and I’ll be undercutting the other units on there (that are just head units too without all the bits needed) by a good chunk to get it gone. picture of it installed below: the top image the fascia wasn’t fully pressed in place, it fits perfectly to the dash and looks totally oem. it has full pre outs for amps if required and is 50w x 4, plenty enough to improve the standard speakers. i ran a 500w amp with a 12” sub with it and it sounded great!
  29. Almost 6 months after the new Kodiaq was delivered to my door in a mad rush when Lockdown kicked in late March. The VWFS department responsible for private plate swaps simply shut down for a while, so I prompted them in July for an idea of timing since they'd had my V778 for a long time. Today I received an email saying "find attached your assignment confirmation", reminding me that phone lines are still closed. Attached was a memo from Fleet Personalised Number Plate team to VW Cherished at BCA - who clearly are the ones pressing the buttons at DVLA when they have the V5 and V778 forms in front of them. I know it takes a couple of minutes. Why was I not surprised to hear anything at all, but was smart enough to interrogate the DVLA system for vehicle tax and/or MOT history - lo and behold - out with the old and in with the new plates. At last, my Kodiaq has quietly shed it's original 20 plate and is registered with my personal plate. A few minutes work saw me stick the waiting plates onto the car. Looks so much better with the horrible screwed on dealer-logo'd plates removed and my shorter plates stuck on neatly. I wonder if VWFS will get round to letting me know ps - I've rarely seen number plates drilled (butchered) and screwed on so badly.
  30. No it shouldn't . Thanks, AG Falco
  31. Check and set tyres in winter at the temp outside at the times you are driving the car and if you change the load carried with people and luggage. So from October to March there are lots of temp changes where ever you may be.
  32. Hi, I run my Alpin5 winters 0.2 bar higher than summer pressures - which I normally set at around the Eco pressure recommendations.
  33. Remember being at Silverstone in 1994 and before Schuey and Hill collided on track later the lunchtime entertainment was a Renault Espace MPV with a Renault V10 F1 engine in the back screaming away with massively fast gearchanges going down the pit straight. The sight and noise I will never forget and it still makes me giggle now how absurd it was and much faster than the earlier V8 Cosworth Ford Supervan.
  34. I would state that driving a dsg you have to work with it and sort of learn how to drive it. It will change up rapidly for economy and you need to learn how to feather the throttle somewhat to keep it in the gear you want. This becomes quite apparent when slowing at a roundabout and then wanting to nip out quick. Don't stamp on the throttle else it will down change and a slight lag in gears will occur. It cant read you mind or see the road...Feather it to keep the revs in the range of that gear without it wanting to change up or down. It does become easier over time though and should not put you off getting a dsg.
  35. Here you can order it: https://www.maxildily.cz/Chromova-lista-patych-dveri-Skoda-Superb-III-liftback-3V5853098A-2ZZ-d14004.htm

Perhaps it takes too many miles out of the battery range so they made it optional.
  37. Finally got round to replacing my 10yo 130k Galaxy family shifter, for our second Skoda (Mrs has a yeti). After 7 years with the Galaxy it's time to try something different.
  38. I agree that the new price is a tad steep, which is why is why I would have been hoping for a hefty discount. The problem with that price is that it puts it in the same price bracket as better alternatives. Other alternatives to the bmw, Volvo and merc would be a used current gen Touareg - used Rline Techs are now around the £35k mark, which is an attractive option over the vRS.
  39. Thanks, it’s being delivered today all being well so. I couldn’t pass on a 3 year old car with only 16k and in the spec I wanted. I really wanted the DSG but needed this in a rush. its actually a lot roomier inside than my old A6 and will be a lot easier run, however it’s just not as refined etc but for my role the A6 was overkill anyway. It’s very lively compared to the A6 and reminds me a lot of the old 130pd fitted to the likes of a Ibiza or Polo with the power delivery
  40. I would stay with it. The Roomster is brilliant and mileage and age is nothing to worry about. Returning from Cornwall this weekend mainly the broken down vehicles being attended to by the breakdown services were the Audi's and BMW's while I soldiered pass with a smug look on my face.
  41. Those standard 18” wheels on the German specs are terrible. Although I don’t think much of the weird Xtreme morphed 19”s either.

If you're looking at CR engines, ideally you want to know if it's had the emissions fix or not
  44. I'd rather deal with the stone chips than look like a tit. 🤣
  45. here's a bonus, light but you order it by the number in the photo and its price is three times lower
