  1. I got this brand new Steel Grey beauty on Friday. vRS TDI 4x4 Combi I’ts a bit more powerful than my previous Fabia 1.0 TSI 110 DSG Combi also in Steel Grey… I went to dealership to order FWD vRS TDI on Monday. Salesman said delivery time for FWD vRS TDI here in Finland is 4months. Too long for a ADHD person like me. So bought this from the dealership floor. Yes, this 4x4 with lot’s of extras was waaaay more expensive but we only live once
  2. Sorry for the delay in replying, but.... I've now done 1,500 miles in the Octavia - the classic mix of town, country and motorway. Plusses: The driver's area is plenty big enough for a six-foot me and there's been no complaints from my wife or 89 year old mother about accessing or legroom in the front passenger seat. The boot may lack the Narnian dimensions of a Superb but it was plenty big enough for our holiday baggage. The ride is firmer and a lot easier over speed humps. The 2 litre diesel is about 15-20% more economical than the equivalent Superb. It's £100 a month cheaper to lease. Long distance driving is just as easy, or as similar as makes no matter. Parking and city driving are a lot less stressful both for my co-pilot (she doesn't drive) and I. I feel like I'm in control of the car rather than the other way round. Minuses: A couple of things aren't as big as I'm used to - central console, rear view mirror, that sort of thing. One or two bits of finish (especially the door handles) make you realise that the Superb now really is executive standard. There's a lot more clinking than solid thudding. The infotainment centre is of the "It wasn't broke so why mend it?" variety that's taking me forever to understand. In particular I can't get rid of that bloody woman's voice forever asking what me what I want to do. It doesn't look anywhere near as impressive as a Superb. Overall: It's a nice car, it's a lot cheaper and it's probably at the same level now as my first 12-plate Superb. They're both, in their way, great cars to own & drive. You pays your money, you takes your choice.
  3. I noticed the following in the manual for my new Superb. "The vehicle is equipped with an accident data recorder, hereinafter called as “EDR”. The purpose of the EDR lies in the data recording during a traffic accident or another extraordinary traffic situation, hereinafter called as “accident”.Data is only recorded in the event of an accident in which the restraint systems are triggered. The EDR records the accident in a short time (approximately 10 s), by showing the following information, for example: ▶ The function of certain systems in the vehicle. ▶ The seat belt status of the driver and front passenger. ▶ The actuation of the brake and accelerator pedals. ▶ The speed of the vehicle at the time of the accident. The recorded data support the analysis of how the vehicle systems behaved shortly before, during and shortly after the accident. This enables them to clarify the circumstances of the accident." I don't think my previous Superb had this and wondered whether other owners were aware of this?
  4. If, as some have stated, the garage uses 504/507 or 508/509 oils as standard (dependent on engine and year) then the only difference between a variable interval service and a fixed interval service is the button they press on the diagnostic computer plugged into your car. However the buttons are different prices.
  5. The whole point of the flexible service regime in my opinion is that you only get the car serviced when it has determined it needs one. (You can see how many miles are left before its due, or the time left, on the infosystem menu.) The length will vary depending on whether you make lots of short trips, or lots of long motorway journeys. I had an Octavia on that setting many years ago, when I was driving many more miles each year, and only needed an oil change etc every 18 months or so. But this then conflicted with the need for MOT's, brake fluid changes, etc which were still required on a fixed interval basis. But I agree that it's difficult to find out what the costs are as the Skoda UK website only talks about fixed servicing costs! The VW website explains the differences at Service schedules | Volkswagen UK but only implies that you get the same work done when it's serviced! Chris
  6. @xman look back upthread at one of your recent posts, where you referred to a 'loss of dramatic oil pressure.
  7. Last time I spoke with my dealer he said they were still building incomplete cars and putting them into storage waiting for components. However, he also said the EV’s and hybrids have priority, probably because they lower the fleet emissions.
  8. FFS why keep on showing what you don't know. Like I said above the air gets in past the threads, venturi effect from the fluid going out the centre and can move up against the flow or when you close the valve. Minimised by doing it at the correct pressure, in the correct order, with the correct equipment. This all started because you said it does not matter what order it is done, sorry it does. I'm done trying to explain engineering to flat-earthers. It is why you should read manuals not forums. I'm done here too

Picking this up on Wednesday.. More tidying than a project, this would be a 1Z5, mk2 face-lift??
  10. i was out myself for the usual route. decided to chance going the "eagle segment" route over the hill and through rooty stumpland when in the trees. discovered the coillte crew also cleared a load of timber in the middle of that section too, so had to dismount and carry the bike out through a load of felling waste to get out on the main path again. pic of what eagle looks like though... thats a not bad bit... ill take more pics next time im on it
  11. I knew e-roottoot would know for sure :-)
  12. thanks to everyone for the help!
  13. Dear friends, today I managed to locate connector. It was under engine on same side as battery. After I disconnected connector I found broken wire on pin 3 as Wino assumed. I will post pictures. Did not tested car yet as I just finished this job but I hope it will be ok. I will post the results. And I can not find words to express my gratitude to both of you. You are great guys, thank you both
  14. He doesnt, but he has already made several "yield or crash" moves on Hamilton this year. If Max just gets on with driving the clearly fastest car of the year and not taking excess risks, he'll romp to the title. As it is, he cant afford another 30 point swing by needlessly colliding with the opposition when he could have backed out, like Hamilton did earlier in the lap when Max came up the inside like a missile.
  15. I would suggest not to worry, they are pretty good at looking after themselves. Years back people might have suggested to drive the car in 3 rd at constant revs to get the DPF hot enough to "regenerate it" but really the system will monitor it better than doing that and intervene when required. the first light is a warning When the car does an "Active" regeneration, it'll get the DFP to around 500C or more to burn off the soot accumulated. As the light has gone out again its happy for now. If you feel an active generation (revs increase to 1000rpm when idling, fans on and stinking of burning) all I would suggest would be to ensure it finishes fully by not turning off the engine and interrupting it. I get an "Active" generation routinely once per tank full or more depending on driving and do around 600 miles a month of mixed A roads and B roads, I just let it do its thing and don't worry about it. Service at the dealers should check for diagnostic fault codes stored, you could tell them warning light came on and you'd like to know if any faults have been registered in the DTC log.
  16. Downlad link you both have on PM. To get Android Auto you must have both display and glove box unit exchanged. If you are interested pls contact me on PM.

Skoda should give priority to cars ie electric cars.sorry don't agree with this all customers who ordered there cars regardless of what type of car ,should be treated as equals .
  18. Thanks for all the all the replies all I can do is apologise for my utter foolishness. However I have found that no matter how silly the question this forum and those on here are brilliant at helping. thanks everyone for being kind IMG_0447.MOV
  19. This has been a EU requirement for some time. It is part of the airbag system AFAIK. Getting hold of the data is another matter, afaik there is no obligation for whoever can access this data to release it to Joe public or law enforcement in the UK. I requested such information be released via the Crown Prosecution Service persuing a fatal road accident a few years ago, but their lawyers told me that they and the police investigator were powerless to access this from the Ford motor company. Not sure they even made the effort.
  20. I know the generalities for all the main designs, if not the specifics of a Jikov or a Pierburg.
  21. Trust @Wino and me. He played a lot with carburetors, Pierburg 2E3 included. In fact I think he still has a few in his den
  22. The medical has been completed, the personal terms agreed and I can now complete my free transfer to the Octavia forum after taking delivery today. Thank you for all the help and advice you've given me over the years. I've had four Superbs; three were as near perfect as makes no difference and the fourth was still the fourth-best car I've ever driven. They're just too big now for me to drive round town (and especially park) comfortably and the Octavia is also a lot cheaper. I hope it lives up to its predecessors.
  23. Anyone know if part finished Škoda’s are still being stored at an airport?: https://newsbeezer.com/czechrepubliceng ... elevision/ And whether this includes Enyaqs? … I can’t wait for mine, it looks great. I’m just hoping it’s not rusty by the time it arrives 😂😂😂
  24. Lots of members move in and out of Skoda's but remember Briskoda is about more than just Skoda's...
  25. Please don't divorce Brisky, we'd miss you too much.

Something very nice about the blue, no? Was looking at ours last night thinking it'd look nice a tad lower... swmbo is looking at wheels (she likes black, I like gold - but it's her daily driver) We tend to have black cars so this was a bit of a shock (we're trying to confuse the neighbours now there's 4 cars outside again), it is really nice though..

Ah, memories. I had a petrol Mk2 and loved it to bits. Yours looks to be in good condition and given a bit of TLC the blue can really pop on a nice day. I've put a photo below as ours was lowered on Eibach Sportline springs; it made a big difference to the handling as did the Whiteline RARB.
  28. Many of us have moved on from Skoda's but still lurk. Welcome to the ex-Skoda lurkerhood Dave Gaz
  29. Since OP has a MIB1 Amundsen he won't have either CarPlay or Android Auto.
  30. Don't worry about it. They are fine. They don't get decalibrated. Worst case scenario they get dirty with gunk from fuel. Clean them well. Use a magnifying glass if you think they are still dirty. Don't use steel wire to clean it. Nobody said you have to drill the ports that are blocked from factory. Just clean the carburetor with carburetor cleaner, disconnect the hoses that go to vacuum capsules, blow all channels with compressed air. Check it again carefully. Adjust according to the manual I've sent. In my experience I didn't have to adjust the cam from the center position. Most often it is the accelerator pump diaphragm that is faulty. Of course. you can't get full power if you can't get high rpm. Any particular reason I might not be knowledgeable enough?
  31. There are enough dramatic people out there without having to contend with dramatic oil pressure as well, it is well worth losing in my view!
  32. "Motorsport is dangerous. You enter and attend events at your own risk". It says so on the back of every ticket. Plus there's evidence the stewards of the meeting didn't have during the race, clearly showing Max turning in on Lewis.
  33. If the pressure in the pipe is above atmospheric, then atmospheric pressure air will/can not be drawn in. Seems obvious to me. Bye.

I took my bridgestones off my vrs wagon for this very reason ,replaced with avon zv7s ,transformed the car so much quieter now ,the bridgestones seemed like they were made out of concrete ,other tyre makes are available haha 🤪
  35. I do find Xenons and LED although brighter are better in fog due to the sharp cut off, you don't get the light scatter that you get with halogen.
  36. The younger generation do not seem to see that fog lights are low to shine under the fog instead of headlights just causing a white out. I'm sure that most people treat fog lights as posing lights.
  37. You're very welcome, sorry I couldn't get there more quickly and efficiently for you both.
  38. A pressure bleeder prevents air from heading back up the brake line as it effectively mimics how the fluid would act under braking. As long as you push a load of fluid through and no bubbles come out you will be fine
  39. I think the rationale for the permanent feed is so that hazard lights will work on the trailer board even with ignition off; though that's only a guess.
  40. Yes it’s something I coded for the person who wanted my Superb (but then messed me about and didn’t view it): Disable KESSY door locking / unlocking 05: Acc/Start Auth. Coding Byte1 Tick Bit0 Passive entry driver door handle, not activated Passive entry frt.pass door handle, not activated
  41. If they dazzle other drivers they are damaged/adjusted wrong. The idea several years ago of all cars fitted with dim/dip was to stop people driving on sidelights, there are no conditions for safely driving on sidelights.
  42. Finally picked up today… nice drive from Leeds to Leicester… then back in time to get the kids from School. Lovely car, very happy so far.
  43. My 2016 1.6 diesel DSG Estate is due for a service and MOT this month. They dealer said the cambelt needed changing (5 years/100,000Km) for a mere £500. After reading this long thread, I've decided to add a new water pump for another £100 though I've not had any issues with the temperature. I was surprised at the short life of the cambelt. My Citroëns and Fords cambelts are replaced at 10 years /200,000Km but hey-ho. I need two front tyres too, so that's £150+ even at Costco. Motoring ain't cheap.
  44. Or just turn in on someone who's part way up his inside?
  45. Just watched the feature race. The team whose driver is always hyper aggressive on lap 1 are seemingly very upset that it didn't go all his way this time. Maybe he shouldn't run the opposition off or break their front wings at turn 1 so often? I spent the whole race willing the Ferrari on, but it wasn't to be, as Charles lost at the very end to a Mansell-like performance from #44.
  46. Forgot to post my dynamic indicators before too £16.50 all in.
  47. Swap the front and rear wheels over. If the steering wheel vibration goes away, the problem is one or both of the front wheels (which are now on the back).
  48. Do not as Skoda and other seem to confuse Servicing with Oil and filter Services. Maybe you want to do oil and filter changed more frequently than every 20,000 miles when the engine piles on the miles. Servicing and maintenance is something more than just a look see and grease hinges. So annual servicing like brake strips and cleans and other preventative measures might be best done at an Independent as Skoda Main Dealer servicing means not much getting done for quite a lot of cash money charged.
  49. Cheers @RustRazor22 and @Towelie, appreciate that Just went back and re-read my first post: With the brake upgrade that's everything done! So what next?!
