  1. Ok, dash reading for correct engine temperature is meaningless, change the ECT, it's cheap and easy to do. YOUR CAR DOES NOT HAVE A MAF!!!!111ONE MAP sensor will be fine. All the other guff is a all waste of time, the car is overfuelling, it can only be the ECT or the pre-cat Lambda probe causing it realistically. Disconnect the ECT completely and see if it runs any better.
  2. Hi Guys, After much deliberation we've decided to take to plunge and get ourselves a new campervan/mobile home. We previously had an old Fiat based LMC camper from the 1980's that was gidted to us by family. We really enjoyed our trips away but missed some creature comforts with it being a little old. The ancient 2.5 diesel with only 70ps got a little tiresome lugging around over 3000kg! After that we got a caravan but sold this when we moved to Germany. We've since sold our house in the UK and made a tidy profit from it and since we're in no rush to buy something here (still on the cards) we've taken the plunge and ordered a brand new campervan. It's a Miller branded camper based on a Citroen Jumper 2.2 Euro 6 with 165ps and 6 speed manual gearbox. See if I can figure out the whole AdBlue situation. Thankfully you can fill up at most petrol stations here. They have AdBlue pumps for normal cars/vans and not just lorries. We went for the upgraded power (165 vs 120/140) as we're more than likely to be mostly up to or at the 3,500kg limit. We did want an automatic but that would have meant takinfg the Fiat Ducato for €3,500 plus the 9 speed ZF for €3,000! So we just stuck with manual. We've also specced it up a bit from the base spec: - DAB / Navigation with reversing camera - 4m awning - Gas oven - fly screens - Turbo-Vent (powerful fan in skylight to aid with cooling - the A/C was an 1,900€ option and added over 50kg) - 100w Solar - Blinds for the windscreen/side windows and a few other bits and bobs. Got a big shopping list to kit it out (plates and kitchen stuff etc) and also want to fit a couple of TVs (didn't fancy paying 900€ for 2x tiny 18" TVs from them). Delivery expected around August. Super excited!
  3. Hi I think you may have misread the manual which states that the permitted Rim size for the fitment of snow chains is 16" There is no mention of a size restriction in relation to the use of 16" rims generally, nor that winter tyres need to be fitted on 16" rims. When swapping my OEM 18"'s for 16's I checked with Skoda UK and my dealer that 16" rims were allowed for normal / all season road tyres, both said yes no problem. I called my insurance company (LV) to inform them of the change and they just made an update to my declaration regarding the vehicle for no additional charge (either administrative or on the premium)
  4. Having seen some of the issues with the mk4 Octavia I wouldn't go near one with a barge pole and would stick with the superb
  5. TCS is used to control wheelspin and is part of the ABS system. Front assist works up to 30kph according to the video here: It's certainly worked for me on a couple of occasions. Maybe distance settings for the activation of the system affect response. But in any case, the system is there to support the driver, not take his/her place. I

Button “A” needs to be depressed for the interior lights to come on automatically.
  7. Some idea, based on software engineering more than car mechanics. 3429 - Actual fault not stated, due to other fault with higher priority being present. 0447 - This appears to be an overvoltage related error. Confirm this by reading the voltage across the battery terminals on the 0 to 20V scale on a multimeter. You're looking for a value in the range 12V-14.4V for correct operation. If the voltage is above this, I'd suspect an actual fault with the alternator control box. If you're unsure about this, I think an automotive elecctrician will confirm, and be able to do the replacement work required.

Lots of other oil usage reports. But fixes point towards piston/ rings.
  9. Thank you. Your car is looking really nice, I need to do quite a bit more to get it to the same standard as yours. I've done some more this week, I've had a weeks holiday off work but had a bad cold so didn't get anywhere near as much done as I'd have liked to. I finally got round to taking the stickers off and giving it a quick clean. I got carried away and forgot the before photo of the sides of the car before I started taking the stickers off. The back one came off easily with the heat gun warming the adhesive and wd40 to remove the residue. You can't tell it was ever there. The sides also came off easy enough but the paint is a slightly different colour underneath if you look carefully. I realised I had run out of car shampoo/snowfoam so took it to the local car wash, they don't do a bad job and I just wanted it "cleaner" to see what the paint is like The paint is faded but if I compound and polish it it'll be loads better, before that though it needs decontaminating It's very hard to get the camera to focus on it but the whole car is covered it tiny orange dots of rusty iron particles embedded into the paint. I did a test with some clay bar and it took a ridiculous amount of effort to clean a tiny patch, it's obviously not the way to go about it. Then I realised the wheel cleaner that turns red on contact with iron would be the stuff to use. I've been meaning to get hold of some autosmart red 7 for a while so that's the plan...
  10. Every car I’ve ever had since ‘lane assist’ was invented has had this option deactivated. Absolutely crap. Anyone who relies on this technology doesn’t deserve to hold a driving licence. At best it’s bordering pointless, at worst it’s bloody dangerous.
  11. Audison Voce tweeters in custom-built housings, made by Audiofile In Car. Finished in Skoda Alcantara cloth. Swap straight in and replace the original tweets - very discreet, but a significant audio upgrade. Cost me over £300 plus the tweeters, which are around £150 new. In lovely condition, used for only a few months in a high-end multi-amp system, £175.
  12. Has anyone experienced the failure of a Control unit that is situated behind the Columbus infotainment display? The control unit on mine has failed & as a result has disabled many of the the various displays on the Columbus: they are. Navigation, Traffic info, Phone & input from the auxiliary port in the center console. My car is currently at the dealer & they have informed me that it requires a new control unit! The cost of replacing it is £3429.10! of which £2918 is for the control unit alone! I've searched the internet for a second hand/used one, all to no avail, they're more elusive than rocking horse **** or hens teeth!! I've also contacted Skoda Customer services & explained the situation & asked for a contribution, I'm still waiting for a reply. All replies are welcomed. Better still, if by perchance you've got one lurking about, or know of one, please let me know. Thanks in advance
  13. Probably the most significant performance upgrade available for the Superb - this takes away the wading through treacle effect of the standard fly-by-wire throttle and makes it feel like a throttle should. I suspect this will work on any Skoda/VW - but please check before buying. 6 different modes, allowing you to fine tune as you go and find the sweet spot that works for your driving style. Having just taken it out to sell the car, I got a rude reminder of how awful the stock setup is in comparison. 10 min easy fit and the controller sits nicely out of the way in the cubby on the right of the steering wheel with the included spare sticky fixer. New, these are 230 Euros. In great condition, used, £100.
  14. Hi, looking to replace my alternator on a 2013 Superb engine code CFFB looks a mission. Has anyone done this?
  15. Hi, yes I've used the VCDS and there were no errors. Also I don't think it sounds like a door wiring issues as when I open the door all the interior lights light up and shuts off when I close it and lock it(the open door signal on the maxi dot screen also indicates open doors).
  16. What are you asking ?
  17. 1 point
Mine has done this a couple of times in some areas which are generally mobile phone black spots. It's resolved itself when I drove through.
  18. You can have the variofloor but by doing so there would not be the depth remaining for a full width spare wheel so it would have to be a spacesaver, cue all the postings about one not being homologated for the Octavia 4x4. On my Yeti 4x4 I have a variofloor and carry the space saver on top when I use it, there is enough depth for it but it leaves only a tiny amount of space around it. To the OP the Haldex coupling and controller don't take up boot space themselves but the differential does.
  19. Just sold Mk3 VRS 4x4 which was great, a little bit noisy and unrefined at high speed. Also, a little small for teenage family, dogs on long trips etc. About to put deposit down on Superb 190 Petrol SEL, the savings are big, with broker discounts and dealer contribution. Now I've just seen a new Octavia at the dealers and was just wondering whether the mark 4 is close to the superb in terms of refinement and space. On paper the Superb gets me much more car for the money and will probably suit my lifestyle more. I don't need rock hard suspension and sub 6 sec 0-60 - I've had fast BMWs etc and the novelty quickly wears off on long journeys. Do folks think the Superb is still worthy of its flagship status or does the Octavia cannibalise it? The only reason I can think of going for the superb in my case is that it has slightly newer tech? Other than that Superb seems much better value. What does everyone think? Thanks
  20. Would seem 12 months is definitely optimistic. Super comments and opinions - thanks everyone. I was also thinking that it might be worth waiting for next model of Superb, but that’ll no doubt have teething issues, plus a massive wait as it’s not even been released yet, and would have a bump in list price with slimmer discounts. Superb 190 SEL it is then, pound for pound seems much better value with deposit contributions than Octavia.

It's going to be like waiting for Santa when I was a child (and a bit later on too)
  22. Should be a small torx, flathead or Philips next to the fan outlet
  23. Hey all New here just about to take delivery of a Moon white 2021 superb sportline 206tsi Mostly here to get ideas, planning to Modify soon after delivery
  24. Yeah, they can be adjusted.
  25. Yes,! I contacted over 40 ECU repairers, but not one of them would take Thanks, I'll give them a try tomorrow

    Only one more day!
  27. Welcome. Not an answer to your questions, but. Is the car built and on it's way to a dealer or already in the country? Or when does the Salesperson think you will get a new car if ordered now and is that likely to be a Factory order car which will be a MY23 and will it be delivered in 2022 or maybe 2023? Best that you look through the Octavia Mk4 section and see the issues some are having with the tech the cars have up to now. That is not obviously everyone, but then not all Mk4 Octavia owners come to forums with or without issues.
  28. They won't fit properly, the bodyshells are different shapes and sizes, as you've discovered the floorpans are the same but the rest of the body is completely different.

Thanks Numskull but I recon that should be my name I couldn’t see that bloody button in the dark and didn’t have a lamp to look
  30. I think that anyone expects the Man or Woman in a Van or whatever vehicle that comes to do a Remap knows the most basic stuff and gives advice on Spark Plugs before doing what they are there to do. Even tuners in buildings might do Remaps on cars and not look in the Air box or check Spark Plugs. Or spark Plugs are checked replaced and the Coils are damaged while doing them. This is why a car should be well serviced and running OK and checked for fault codes having been run before then going on a dyno before and then after a remap. But then that is just my opinion.
  31. Did it myself on stands but you'll want a dry floor as it was easier for me to chuck tools under and slide about rather than in-out on each side. You may get so far with wheels off too but some clambering is needed.
  32. That's a regular issue with decals like the ones used on your car. Ref the wheel cleaner, try using that on an inconspicuous and small area of the car and not a whole panel!

Welcome mate, I hope you get a positive info soon. Dealers should not be fed up with us checking, it’s not our fault Skoda is giving us incomplete info or no info at all…
  34. Check the wiring inside the flexy rubber conduit between the door and frame
  35. Haha this was the issue! Thanks a lot!

Yes, it should sell for double that.

It's a lot of oil! Probably just out of spec of even the ridiculous quoted figures by vw / skoda as acceptable. It used to the the Gen 2 ea888 2.0L and 1.8 tsi that were the problem oil burners. But I have seen a few posts on the later diesels in mk3s on here. Do some searching. pretty sure it was a piston / ring problem(s). Assuming as you say, no external leaks, and turbo is ok, that's most likely. What oil change history does it have? Long life service intervals?
  38. I admire your confidence in Halfords, but don't share it - from personal experience over many years combined with posts on multiple car forums the competence of Halfords can be at best sketchy, so they're not a supplier I'd trust to do any work on cars of mine, parts yes but work no for me.
  39. Fitted the rear arch liners off the gti today. started with a filthy arch Ample spraying with degreaser and a jet wash got them looking like this. then lined up the liner to drill the holes as mine didn’t have them being an early one. Was going to fit the inserts but found the screws hold in really strong on there own. Treated the drilled holes with hammerite and then waxoil over the lot. Only had some small spots where filler neck pipe bolts to body, around the neck was really good. I gave it a good going over with hammerite then some waxoil on that too. Then all fitted back on
  40. I posted previously on a black badges thread - I removed the S K O D A from the boot lid and went for front and rear colour matched Skoda badges from SuperSkoda (Kopacek). Looks fantastic - even if I do say so myself....!
  41. I started to de-badge my 4x4 but the wife felt takin' the S K O D A off was a just too much.............so it stayed........and she was right, it needs something there.
  42. Traction Control System, it may be called something else on the Kamiq. Not sure why not triggered for objects crossing the front - but that's what the manual states.
  43. I checked for the Octavia - front assist is active provided - System not disabled; TCS is enabled; Vehicle is travelling forward at more than approx. 5KPH; No more than one brake light has failed. It will not trigger for object crossing front of vehicle. Unlikely that Kamiq is significantly different.
  44. I've been running Nokian WR A4 225/45/R19's for four winters now. As per others thoughts, they have performed far better than the original Bridgestones. Not that we've have any significant snow here, they are much more sure footed in cold wet conditions and with frost/ice on the roads. Far quieter than the Bridgestones as well, I run these in conjunction with Dunlop Sport Max RT XL 19's, usually between November & the end of April.
  45. Detailed.. And a change in direction on alloys.

Remember the Karoq has flattened (squarer) wheel arches, whatever size wheel is in there will never fill it Have a look at this brochure, plenty of different Karoq wheels (with their part number codes) listed https://www.skoda-auto.de/_doc/d2d2b64a-e915-4ae4-b9d1-785a20123fa1
  47. I mean it is impossible only like halv my hand fits in there and de release clip i need to press to remove it is not upside its downwards cant reach it. I need to remove something so my hand fits in so i can reach the sensor. Maby a hose or something?
