At long last!!!! They are real, I can happily say I've taken delivery of my MK4 vRS Octavia as of last Friday! Ordered around Halloween 2021 and landed sometime late July or early August. I didn't get any notification from dealer, it literally just appeared in the showroom one day. Phoenix Orange TDI with wireless charging front and rear sensors etc

Hi guys, I just received a call from the car dealer. He told me that there is a preliminary confirmation of my order 🚗 to get into production in the next two weeks. The estimated delivery date is sometime at the beginning of October. Well, I'll see how it unfolds, but at least there is hope or "eppur si muove".. 😀. This is the first positive info I received from a car dealer since July 2021, when I placed the order.

so then i have same week my dealer told me 36/22 week. that is from 9.5.2022 to 9.11.2022 in this week car will be finish and delivered up to end of september I HOPE SO.
  4. This is going to be a guide of how to fit the PTC heater option using the OEM control system and OEM parts. Its going to be a work in progess/follow along style, but I'll edit this post when its complete with all the information you need. With currnent eBay and dealer prices, the whole job costs less than £100 and could be easily completed in a weekend. First thanks to @Crocket@piggoy@Breezy_Pete@jacissmiling for all the effort on the original thread
  5. Rip all CDs to an SD card. Can't see why you wouldn't, no need to carry CDs, no need to change CDs, no need to get a CD player.
  6. Will start doing the doors soon. Today I did the boot lid. Added butyl mats in the cavities with a lot of flat surfaces. The trim got some butyl mats and acoustic foam on top.
  7. I'm sure I have a portable Sony 1 bit CD player somewhere in my 'cave of frightening old bits of tech'.

Good for you. I just got info from the dealer (he got it from main importer) after 13 month of waiting that it should be produced until the end of the year. 🤣
  9. It's quite sad really. I love my 1980-something Denon DCD-810.
  10. Found the serial number, ebay sends me to throttle body components.. I just popped in to halfrauds and asked them about their hoses. Ended up with a fuel line? It fits, although it's a bit tight to push it all the way on either side, so i assume it's tight enough. Now on to the 2h+ traffic towards home to test drive
  11. Uploading photos that'll hopefully give you some reference.

That ties in with ours. We ordered mid August and have been told a build week of 05/09, also an estate so hopefully we might both get delivery around the same time.
  13. Car being delivered to me today! Pics and initial thoughts to follow.
  14. Thanks 👍 Worked like a charm ☺️

I thought I’d post an update to my post, after struggling to clip the bulkhead trim i used to much force & cracked the windscreen ☹️ that’s when i lost my enthusiasm for the job & took it to a local specialist, the fault was fixed by fitting a new lambda sensor (another one) the Bosch sensor i purchased from autodoc was faulty from new. we live & learn. rob
  16. So, to update this, i’ve had it lowered for about 12 months on Eibach springs and Bilstein shocks, i’ve fitted bonnet struts, front strut brace, wheel spacers front and rear, wind deflectors, colour coded badges, changed the chrome lettering and front grille surround for black and fitted the front Maxton splitter. I’ve got some new front fog lights on the way and keep toying with Eibach front and rear arbs and also a remap. I said this was staying standard when i bought it. 🤦🏻‍♂️😆
  17. The first couple of times you use it, it's slow because you don't trust it. Now I just engage reverse and use the parking sensor tones as normal to judge the right speed. Haven't hit anything yet!
  18. I've got a couple too... Ones a panasonic a d one a technics but given both brands are the same company the only difference is one has an anti skip feature and is silver the other doesn't and is grey. They still work fine and my eldest uses one to play backing tracks when she's practising the flute.
  19. Agreed Colin. I’ve had three Octavia estates, two petrol vRS and a petrol Scout, so I fancied a change of shape. 625L vs 660L is not really a compromise when you consider the competition. To add, L&K petrol 272 / 280 estates are extremely rare on the second hand market, so when I saw this hatch in the perfect spec / colour scheme for me, I had to go for it! Very happy so far (day 1).
  20. Try this website http://www.kopacek.com
  21. It's toss up between the hatch or the estate for practicality vs looks. For me it's the estate for it's squarer back end & more practical load carrying capacity up to the roof. The L&K is nicely spec'd & yours has a few extras by the looks of it. After two years of owning mine I found out I had the Virtual Boot opening pedal thingy with your foot which is handy from time to time. I have turned off the Lane Assist (really annoying thing) & I never use the Auto Park Assist. I would have gladly swapped those features two for a sun roof but when you buy used you have to take what you get in terms of spec & colour. That said I'm happy with mine after 5 years of ownership. A limo with a fair turn of speed & sure footed 4 x 4 system.

  23. I’m an estate-kinda guy normally, but that is lovely. Congrats 👍 Love the go-go-gadget parcel shelf.

I knew you would get some info today as well 👍 It’s not that specific but at least it’s something, opposed to what you had so far. Mine is still parked somewhere, forgotten by all 🙄
  25. Tried hard, wasted 4 hours 🥴 😭 I feel like a failure, and very hungry right now 😆

  27. Thread that we could now answer: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/217059-fuel-gauge-drops-under-hard-corneringbraking/ 😁 Interesting that he mentions hard cornering too. Presumably the cluster could get 4 individual wheel speeds instead of, or as well as the average of them from the ABS module's broadcasts. Reasonably sure I haven't noticed fuel gauge being affected when cornering hard. Aiming to have a quick look at the float travel orientation in my tank in the near future, it might be a compound angle, with a bit of fore and aft and side to side, I guess. Then if speed was constant but level changing improbably fast, output to the gauge stepper could be suppressed on the basis "must be cornering"? Edit: A quick look at the top of my fuel pump today versus ebay pics suggests the float does indeed pivot on an axis about 45° off the car centreline.

Sorry to hear this sad story. Someone can help i hope, and the car probably needs to be with someone else other than those that have it now.
  29. Actually there is roughly 90 degrees between on and off positions.
  30. I was funnily enough, but it wasn't me as I wasn't in the Beemer and I don't have a private reg. I was also travelling much closer to the speed limit
  31. It’s here and, predictably, it’s raining. Absolutely beautiful in brilliant silver metallic. Has been prepared well by Skoda. Drove it 50 yards into the drive after it came off the trailer, and all the controls felt so intuitive - my fifth Skoda. Much more to come once I’ve had a good poke round and a decent drive later today.
  32. The fact is that there is a "campaign" out called EU24 on cars "With" the DSG gearbox as well as the manual gearbox" that is there to help fix some stalling/lumpiness issues. You need to ask them about this and whether it has been done and whether it should be. https://www.karoqforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=566
  33. Had mine updated by dealer this week to 1896 as gave up waiting for an OTA update to be done. Was done without issues. Too soon to notice if it has fixed the ACC bug which was the main issue I was having but hopefully it will be sorted now.
  34. so many posts on this topic on this forum, even to the point of people sharing the sound of their new exhausts. Also, as the engine is shared with other marques, you can search the VW Golf and Audi forums - the engine is EA888 gen 3. Forums are a great source of knowledge and experience and all have a handy search function 😜
  35. Went up to Kames on the Sunday to see some Rally action. Different classes of cars going around from 1l citigos... Evos Escorts And everything in between Only a small track but was spectacular seeing all the cars go round. Back on the ferry Sunday evening, have to say everyone was extremely nice, the food was lovely and cheap, the pints fantastic and far cheaper than what you'd get back home and aside from the average speed cameras, the roads are great too. Even though it wasn't much of a driving trip, this drove fantastic the whole weekend, all the changes done to it in the past week made a noticeable difference. Thanks to the sound deadening (and probably the increase in caster) its far more comfortable cruising on the motorway, its a bit better at taking bumps in the road, the K brace tightened the car up that bit more. Its still pretty underpowered but the intercoolers helped stop it losing a lot of power from heat soak. Wish the ferry was cheaper, its almost definitely the last time I'll be able to take the car over for a while. Overall a great weekend and even better seeing the stuff I did to the car paid off.
  36. Took the ferry over to Scotland early Friday. Spent the weekend. Met up with some friends and spent the weekend there. An eclectic mix of cars. Went up around this castle, think it was culzean castle. Parked a way out and walked in. Some sort of mini car show there Big rocky beach near it.
  37. This is also a dash out job, You could maybe do it with the dash in, but it would be very hard to route the wires almost impossible/impossible to connect to the bulkhead where you need to (same place as cruise control but you need to connect a large power wire too). It takes a couple of hours and is far less scary than people assume, definely easier than struggling to do it with the dash in, in my opinion.
  38. This table says adaptations are 'limited unless registered' but that doesn't necessarily sound like a definite 'no it won't'. Functions - Ross-Tech Wiki
  39. Yeah several people online have hadt when their ABS module has broken. Thanks for confirming Pete Yes, ABS transmits the speed data on CAN, for your speedo and such as Pete mentions. There's no need for the Airbag controller to expose information about acceleration, so it doesn't. The processing for the "calculated acceleration" happens in the cluster. I didn't expect this to cause so much discussion, so I wasn't clear in my original post. The cluster is estimating if you're accelerating or breaking, based on the rate of change of speed, and when doing so, slows down/stops its reading of the fuel sender to prevent erratic readings. The position of the sender in the tank is irrelvant in this case. Ideally VW would put the sensor in the centre of fluid, and the tank would be a hemisphere, and fuel wouldn't splash, that way you'd have a perfect reading regardless. But they can't do that obviously. If they have put the sensor in at 90 degrees to the direction of travel, I would assume this has been done to get closer to that perfect scenario of a central float. The sender is on the far left/right of the tank to begin with, so cornering forces are already going to have a much greater affect than acceleration of deceleration. By pointing the float inwards, you make little difference to the fore/aft position but you get much closer to the centre, thus minimising the cornering affects. It could also simply be packaging. To correct my previous statement, the Fabia dash cannot compensate for steering angle as there is no real accelerometer data, nor is there a steering angle sensor as these cars didn't come with ESP. Golf MK4 on the other hand, that may be different. I did find it in an SSP a while ago Pete (And confirmed by taking the fuse out), will try and find it
  40. £20 later and I have a 120 amp alternator. Will start a new thread as a guide
  41. Salary Sacrifice is nearly always better than PCH if the lease prices are similar. You do get BIK taxation, but that is low currently compared to the tax and NI savings made by paying the lease from salary before income tax and NI is calculated. Furthermore, the SS scheme will be reclaiming the VAT, further reducing the cost to you. So the lease price you pay is ex. VAT. If you can, see if the SS lease company can take over your current offer - you may get the benefit of the lower price and SS. Note most company SS will include RFL and insurance. With PCH you must insure it yourself and (for safety) also take gap insurance.
  42. Reading my above post I have missed out the size of my new wheels. They are 16 inch with 205/60/16 tyres. The ride quality has increased from the 17 inch wheels
  43. A little tip for you - I used to work at a well known retail chain of automotive stuff (and pedal bikes)... mentioning no names. From day 1 i was taught - you need to sell people going to EU a long list of things including bulbs, breathalyzers, high viz jackets, fire extinguisher. I subsequently got called in to the office as I was telling people that carrying bulbs is all well and good, but did they have any idea how to change them, most said no, so i said no point. I done my own research and breath tests arent even a requirement, it was more a scare tactic. And the only one i recommend is a high viz jacket and thats useful no matter what country you are in. Just keep it in the back of your seat or glovebox, its no use if youre hunting for it in the boot and get chopped in half by a rear ender....
  44. I have a Roomster and been to France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria and the Netherlands and never saw a police car. I bought a cheap Lidl general bulb kit in case I was stopped but never have been in 8 trips. Remember the breathyliser kits for France. Our French friends laughed when we told them they were mandatory. The law was proposed but never passed into law. In Germany they require you to carry a spare pair of driving glasses. I only found that out on our return.

Fair to say I’ve been watching this topic a lot over the last 14 months. I’ve had a company car order in since May 2021 for a vrs iv estate. It’s optioned with pano roof, canton and dcc. There’s been a few setbacks along the way, which I’m sure would be familiar to many of you, but the vague updates from the lease company changed a week or two ago to “released from the factory” and added “delay in transit to uk”. I’m trying not to get my hopes up, but current estimate is for mid Aug. I expect it will probably be September now, as they commonly like to delay it when there is an imminent number plate change, as i imagine it increases the cars value a little at resale. i just hope it was built late enough to have the newer infotainment modules etc….

First let me welcome you to the waiting club in hell. What you describe is about right. Here please input your order info and check for similar orders: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/17h4myLSMpZ3dohgDJX25mkOhKLbyepEaeEeYcA3AqFY/htmlview#gid=0 Wish you good luck.
  47. Haven't refuelled for a while,normally I can get £ 55 worth of derv in , filled up recently £ 77 quids worth! Somehow I got another £20 into the same tank🤔!
  48. You can remove the top plastic cover, it is only held on with 2 screws I seem to remember, it might seem like it is being tricky to extract the cover but it is very possible to get out of the way completely. Two things to look at when that cover is off, is the condition of the belt surface and edges - obviously, and look around for any signs of oil leakage which would indicate that the inlet valves variable timing pulley bolts were slackening off - that should not be an issue now but was an issue with the early batch of engines and lead to a change of design or supplier of that pulley.
