After only owning the car 6 months and became very fond of it. Someone has hit me while parked outside my parents house, worse thing is i spent £800 2 weeks ago on welding tyres wheel refurb, gutted is an understatement.

What is equally important as generator cheap electricity from renewables is to supply it at the time it is needed/wanted. So solar and wind farms need to increasingly look at battery storage themselves and not assume that the grid will buy their lecky at 10p per Kw at any time of the night or day. Battery electricity storage modules is getting cheaper and cheaper so getting smart and selling it at the right times to make the most money is clearly the better business model. I gather that some suppliers can get over a £1 a kWh at peak times. I seem to recall Octopus was willing to pay me 2 or 3 quid for saving each kWh at those peak times and it was an opportunity to make a few quid. It is unreasonable, in my view, to expect massive grid upgrades just to facilitate producers who spike production as the wind is just at the optimum level. Hold it in batteries locally so it can be used when the wind dies down and it is needed more so and one might get a better price for it !

If those DC charging station providers could alter their charging structure to put off us plebs in Zoes they could discourage us in our Zoes so we, for example, go on to any AC chargers rather than use the DC chargers I could understand that. When I have gone on to an AC charger and if my little Zoe is drawing down say 25 or 30 kws I feel really bad if someone is waiting in their Audi e-tron GT or Porsche Taycan to charge and they would get 250 or more kW and get on their way quickly. The Zoe is the fastest charging car on AC, Zoes can charge at 22 kWs and sometimes 43 kW on AC chargers if they are some of the better ones and I would gladly either move over to the AC chargers, if they are there and free up a powerful DC chargers for those EVs that can use it. I have found the EV community super accommodating to each other, generally love to chat to each other about each other's cars, share experiences, keep on chatting to past the finish of charge time and no snobbery if one is driving an Audi, Renault or MG EV. Very not like ICE ownership experience that I have found. A lovely group of people. Hope I never meet the Taycan guy, what a plonker. 10 minutes in TESLA owner Rob Llewelyn states he can charge between twice and half as quick again as his TESLA on AC......

Octopus the cheeky barstewards are on about cheaper tariffs for those within a certain distance of new inshore and offshore turbines in England. Hello, I would say that this will not be an issue, as you say, the oil will drain back from the tensioner while the engine is stopped. Just refill and restart as normal with one proviso - don't ever permit the engine to turn over in reverse direction while the cam chain tensioner is unpressurised.

I notice all those thousands of solar panel as you go South on the M5 as one crests the hill to drop down to the M4/M5 interchange. Logical site for it, half way between Thornbury and Yate. 50 MW and 70 GWh per year are impressive stats. Well down South to get lots of the sun much of the year and it seems to be most on the southerly slope down to the Bristol area. I believe it was a feature that was disabled in software. Probably due to customer anxiety about it reading consistently lower than expected (by those who don't understand the planned undercharging).

Sorry, you didn't tag me in so I had no idea you'd asked me a question. (Still not 100% sure, but will answer anyway.) The Gummi Pflege (actually German for "Rubber Care") does just that. It seems to keep your rubbers soft and flexible. I love it, but it's really not a cosmetic treatment. The 303 Protectant is mainly a UV protectant and has a slight "Back to Black(TM)" effect. It can be used on rubbers but is best on plastics, IMO. Spray on, wipe off to a dry sheen. It's a penetrating oil, not a lubricant and certainly not good for rubber, though it will make your rubber look dark and shiny. For a while at least. I wouldn't use the stuff, but I keep my cars for ages. However there are plenty of videos on YouTube of people advocating you use WD40 to revitalise the rubbers on your car and it's your car, so if that works for you, go for it. You could probably use actual vegetable oil and give your rubbers that "just new look". (I expect there're some TikToK videos showing just that.) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WD-40

Much cheaper for me heading South & towards the West from home than South and towards the east Heading North into Aberdeen / Aberdeenshire or to the Highland region is really to expensive and there is a pathetic charger network for Rapid charging. (There are available more Commercial chargers which really are expensive for just Tap & Pay.) ..................... I was up in Aberdeen last night and going back today. Than goodness for PodPoint and 50 kW chargers at LIDL & Tesco. 65 pence a kWh or 62 pence i used at Tesco. Aberdeen Councils few rapids about the city are 47 pence a kWh but pathetic getting to work if there are ones that are not blocked by people not caring and time penalties. so 62 pence a kWh is £6.20 for 10 kWh, i needed 20 kWh, £12.40. Was getting 3.7 miles a kWh so 74 miles. Expensive. I had done 100 miles on the battery charged for Free. I have charged at home at 20 pence a kWh so another 20 kWh for £4.00. That gives me just over 100 miles before needing to charge. it will probable be in about 75-80 miles though and with 20 kWh again Works out OK with the free chargers and the lower tariff now at home. (Not an offpeak tariff, an all day and night one.)

What if we can build cars that does not have extremely hot components that require heat shields for normal operation? What if the very quick spread of fire is due to plastic fuel tanks are only required to hold highly flammable liquid, with flashpoint of <100c. for 2 min when exposed to flame? The dude from Harmony that has been refused planning permission to build a Solar Farm on prime farming land was on the Radio this morning. They own the company (Not the land) and build the Solar Farms with no public money but need to be near the connections to the grid. The National Grid with a waiting time of years for many to get a connection to and they need near a sub station with the capacity. You mean liquids like "electricity"; like "bird nests"...? In the last 2 vehicle fires I've witnessed, one was an electrical fire in the ventilation fan controls (V**xh*11 Z@f1r@), and the other happened when a hot turbo set light to a recently built bird nest in the engine bay.

OK, it would appear that even with my son sitting in the rear of the car for around 10 minutes after the car had autolocked, (I still have not got the hang of leaving the keys in the car if people are staying in it), while I was in the vets with one of our cats, the alarm went off because he moved and then again when a little while later the sun came out, and he got rather warm, he opened the rear door by simply pulling on the lever in the normal fashion as I suspected it would. I think that it is like the MK2 model, to activate the deadbolts, there is a need to use the remote control and press the lock button, at which point the mirrors fold in.

Fire under bonnet for whatever reason like 99 percent are melts fuel line fuel drains from tank by gravity and runs downhill from there. It looks exactly like every other ICE vehicle fire that I have seen and caused which is sadly far too many That's what comes from having a certain minority group all around you.

Had to do a full factory reset to get it working again. Deleting of user profile didn't work. After full reset and setting up primary user again I can now hear Laura telling me he/she "doesn't Understand" , "please wait a moment" and "checking online" everytime again. So things back to normal 🤣

So....I didn't go with EBC. At least not entirely. 😁 Instead I have chosen DBA brakes. Front: DBA 4000 series rotors + DBA XP brake pads Rear: DBA 4000 series rotors + EBC yellow stuff pads (DBA doesn't offer yet rear pads) Braided brake lines Motul RBF 600 brake fluid First impression is great. Quiet, good initial bite, good pedal feel.

This may be unrelated but I had all four tyres changed recently on my 2018 Karoq 1.5TSI. When I collected the car I had six new faults show up on the dashboard all relating to the Stop/start system even though nothing had been touched other than removing all four wheels to fit new tyres. The tyre fitter said that he had seen or heard of this issue on other VAG vehicles. He plugged in the OBD scanner and cleared all faults and everything has been fine since. Your issue might be triggered by the new battery but any independent garage with an OBD laptop/machine should be able to clear the fault and certainly for less than £80. It only takes a couple of minutes

the thing to avoid os leaving your car at 100%, that's what sresses the battery and causes faster degradation. I'm at 27K miles and not seen any noricabel drop off in range

There are a lot of mods mentioned.. stage 2, exhaust, intake.. The mk2 vrs facelift tsi or tfsi depending on whose terminology you use is the ea888 gen 2. Chain driven timing chain. Early edition tensioners were a nightmare for failure. If not done, you want to factor in new chain, tensioner and guides and it will be more than £500 I promise. Ea888 gen 2 could be prone to clogged scraper rings which led to excessive oil consumption and eventual failure. Very difficult to detect at early to mid stages until you've drive 1000 miles and refilled 1.5 litres of oil. As for value, don't know now. For context I had a 2011 fl vrs kombi, with nearly 70k miles completely stock, everything was neat and tidy and worked and sold for about £4k 2 years ago!!

1998 Felicia 1.3 MPI, 104 thousand miles and 25 years old purchased from new and never ever warmed up the engine from cold start just started and drive off used 10/40 good quality oil and no problems. Just passed its 25th MOT and passed the only problem is it could out live me. Fantastic car, in quality and running would not swop it for any new modern car of the same capacity.

Just that it's been reported as a diesel, Beds Fire Service said it was a diesel, there's been links about JLR RRs problems with fires but nooooooo that's not good enough for Graham is it? Love my Scala SE 1.0 in Meteor Grey 6 speed manual with 16”” wheels. Comfy economical and quicker than you might think. I don’t see many on the roads though.

In Switzerland it really depends where you live & whether you go to the mountains for skiing often. I'm by lake Geneva and it's rare that the normal roads here are affected by snow (maybe once or twice a year but they are always quickly cleared). But if you live above 1000m or drive to the mountains at the weekend for skiing then you will encounter snow & bad road conditions constantly for the winter months. I'm not a big skier but take the kids for lessons every weekend during the winter so I'll take winter tyres. I also like to change the wheel during the winter to keep the OEM wheels in better condition avoiding the snow, grit & antifreeze on the roads.

Maybe you saw it already but I emailed Skoda recently and was told it (belt and tensioner) was now "lifetime" which I've taken to be 10 years/150k+. I was going to have it changed next year but will leave it. I've the same year/engine (1.2 4 cyl 90)

Coding or not coding a new battery in will have no effect on whether the car will start and run. The rest of it may be down to the start/stop error not being a battery fault, but something else. I hope you didn't pay the Skoda dealer after that nonsense?

There are owners on the Facebook sites whose cars have already reached 100k with no real impact on range noticed. you can’t actually charge the battery to a full 100% or completely flatten it as in the 82kW battery you can only access 77kW. This helps protect it. Its not charging to 100% or going nearly flat which does significant damage, it is charging to 100% then not immediately using it, or nearly flat and fail to charge asap. I normally charge to 80%, but will occasionally go to 100% if I need the extra range to do the trip and get home again, or if I would need to charge away from home to complete a trip. Every kW I charge at home instead of at a fast charger could save me between 46 to 92p!

I hope it's not too late now, but this is what we bought for our 2016 1,2 Fabia from Opie Oils. I can't remember the cost as bought last year, along with oils and filters for my Fiesta. The oil is what was recommended on Millers oil website. Paid a little extra for the 'nano-drive' stuff and came in 1l bottles. Wanted a Mahle filter but Opie didn't stock one, so had Bosch instead, (bought Mahle for mine).

I changed my mind and installed DSP to replace Canton amplifier. So now i have this gear: Alpine R-S65C.2 speakers in front doors Match DSP UP8 under drivers seat 10” subwoofer in trunk and 500W RMS amplifier to drive subwoofer. Basser box. I also coded head unit with OBDEleven to send signal to speaker inputs. That replaced MOST going to Canton. sounds great now

You have to download and extract the files from the .rar file to the root of a micro sd card, insert it into the pid and connect it with the power lead, when powered on it will start the update, dont touch anything once the update starts Its finished when you have a green screen and are able to select ok on the screen, its a full wipe/recovery install...
