  1. It's not just about cost of the charger, it's also about the cost to change from an ICE to a BEV. It seems to me many members on here are in a much better financial position than millions of people in the UK who are struggling to feed themselves or pay their energy bills - so the cost of borrowing to change to a BEV is for them simply not affordable. Just because (it seems to me) many posters in this thread don't have those worries doesn't mean it's right to assume everyone is in that enviable position [/rant]
  2. Just installed from 1941 to 1969. Working great right now! 💓🙉 My car is 2021.
  3. Thread resurrection update!! Three years and nearly 30k miles on the special actives I have just spent some bonus money on a set of B6 shocks. I know I said I wouldn't fit lowering springs but I've had prokit set fitted for about 2 years. Also have a pair of spring assisters on the rear. This has helped with sharpening up the turn in with the rear roll bar set to hard. Getting the shocks fitted next Thursday so will let you know how it goes. After the initial honeymoon I've not been impressed with the konis. That's with stock height or lowered. They just don't feel predictable and they are hard when I would prefer soft and blow through the travel when I'd like more support. I should have gone B6 from the start but you live and learn.
  4. So people want EV,s. What is all the crap from those that do not. If you do not like Golfing and do not have a few hours to walk around hitting golf balls do not buy clubs or join a golf club. Life is so straight forward.

I'm reading some questionable answers above. . Perhaps an explanation is necessary: The OP's question isn't really how much was it worth when new, he want's to know how much it's worth now. ( it's new price bares no relation the used value so is pointless). 1: What's it worth? It's worth what someone will pay for it. As above go to several car buying sites and obtain prices - it cost you nothing. That's the price your car is worth. 2: It's gone down £3000 in a year? Everyone will have their own thoughts on what consitutes heavy depreciation but in general, if you don't want to suffer the heaviest depreciation, don't sell a car so soon after you've bought it. Of course another way of looking at this is if you're surprised at it depreciating £3000 in a year, could it be you paid too much for it in the first place? 3: SEL Executive 1.0tsi DSG in metallic black. Difficulty finding a used one to compare. When buying cars we should all remeber one thing - that with the very few exceptions, short lived or special edition models are generally worth the same as a std model after a few years. Also car with options may make it more desirable, but add very little value. So if a similar car is hard to find on Autotrader, just look at an SEL ( or similar model spec ) with the same year and miles. Of course that's the retail price you're looking at, not the price your car is worth. 4: Who cares what a new car cost 12mth ago - it's what it costs new today that counts. Just had a look on DriveTheDeal. Kamiq 1.0tsi DSG SEL Exec lists at £28600, £29300 with met paint. DTD are saying I can buy that car for £25442 If a garage offers £20k for your 23 plate car with almost 6k on the clock, they'd have to retail it for min £22k, probably nearer £23k to pay for their overheads + make profit. So if I'm in the market for a 1.0tsi SEL exce in metallic black, do I buy a 2 owner used car from a dealer at £23k or £25442 for a brand new car registered in my name? Everyone will have their own opinion, personally I'd choose the latter. Now you're enting a whole different ball game because they've introduced another car into the equation. They're not really saying your car is worth £18,000, they're saying it's worth £18,000 if changing to that Kodiaq. They may offer you £20k for the car if you;re buying a new Kodiaq. Basically their price is meaningless unless you know what profit margin they have on the used Kodiaq. My advice would be to treat the sale of your car and the purchase of the Kodiaq as two seperate transactions. 1: Get the best price for your car from one of those buying websites 2: Go back to the dealer and say sorry I'm not going to buy your car. WeBuyAnySkoda are offering me £20k and ACME_Skoda have a similar car to yours for £500 less so obviously it's better for me to do that. As I say, none of us know what profit margins your dealer has to play with but if I were a betting man, I'd say your dealer's 'cost-to-change' offer will all of a sudden decrease. Hope that helps.

so If I do an autotrader search for a 2023 1.0tsi Kamiq SE L Executive, with a DSG with up to 10k on the clock I get these 3 so given these are all lower mileage then @Stonekeeper's guesstimate of a Main Dealer offering it out at £21k feels in the right ballpark. If you're not happy with the part ex offer you could always try popping your vehicle's details on Motorway and seeing what they reckon they can get for it. I used one of the regs from autotrader and upped the mileage to closer to yours and the initial estimate came back as
  7. No they were non act, but I now own a vehicle with a 1.5 tsi act (dpca engine code) and the coolant pump looks the same to me. The pump drives off the exhaust camshaft. I also downloaded the Skoda workshop manual and followed that. If/probably when I need to change this act coolant pump I’ll download the manual but, looking at how the act works, I don’t think the procedure will be much different. As for the main cam belt, I’ve no intention of ever doing it or having it done unless it gets to 200,000 miles, at which point it probably wouldn’t be worth the cost, that subject has been done to death.
  8. Took the wheels off for a proper clean as I’ve never done it and too late in some places, which is a bit annoying Only done one side (front and back) I used Bilt Hamber Auto Wheels, then Bilt Hamber claybar then finished with Chemical Guys wheel guard Good enough for me though and onto front and back driver side tomorrow and yes too lazy to do behind the spokes as it’s incredibly baked on
  9. I don't think so; you're wasting your time with that garage though.
  10. They would say that wouldn't they. Their lips move.
  11. That's exactly what I do if parking on a slope as the handbrake is taking the weight of the car and not the pawl. If on the flat I just use park and don't bother with the handbrake. In traffic I leave it in drive and let the S/S do its thing.
  12. Thereabouts, doing it when I am asleep at costing me only 2p for each mile whilst the ICE drive goes to a smelly place with carcinogenic particles in the air, has to leave the motorway/road to do this, take time out to do this rather than just get in the car which is full of traction power, after just pre-conditioning the car with ones phone so it is nice and warm and de-iced. The ICE owner has just deposited a load if money in to Putin or a Saudi prince's bank balance, rather than using renewable energy. ICE driver drive drives off further polluting the world he and his/her kids and grandkids will try and live in suffering the cumulative harm of burning stuff pollution.....
  13. Really business / commercial drivers are a different animal because of plenty incentives, maybe not for them only for their employers. Private buyers/ renters might be able to have there own cost saving incentives like low cost charging. There are social divides within different groups. Business and social use, or just Social, domestic, leisure / pleasure. If the BEV is not for you then Just say no. Life is too short, tomorrow you might be dead.

Not keeping a car for very long is a recipe for being hit with depreciation. Buying new and trading it in after a year, or less, is probably the worse for depreciation; but, as you've found out, nearly new and sell after a short time can be pretty bad too. Main dealer margins are probably the worst for this. Is just the way it works. Don't buy an electric car, or you will be suicidal when you try to sell it.
  15. Aubrey, The fuel filter on my Yeti is located on the underside of the car. I you have a look under the car just forward of the the offside rear wheel you will see it, it has three quick release connectors. Here are the before and after pics when I replaced it. Cheers Chris
  16. Have you not found Hat Boy Harvey on youtube? The white bulb holder clicks out, no need to take the cluster off. I have an estate which has very much easier access.
  17. Not on the Octavia 3 which still has a proper manual handbrake not a complicated EPB (which can be a nightmare when replacing the rear brake pads).
  18. I’ve done two of these now on 1.4 tsi Octavias. They aren’t too bad to do but it’s easier with an extra pair of hands to hold the correct tension on the pump with a torque wrench whilst you tighten the water pump bolts.
  19. I hope Skoda did not hire those guys who assembled the doors on Boeing 737Max for our sunroofs... Sorry... it was so easy... 😁

  21. Another reason to try and avoid using the roof lining is the DAB receiver is up there somewhere. Dash cam wiring routed close to the receiver has been known to disrupt the signal.
  22. No idea why; I've had gap insurance before without needing to supply my DoB.
  23. Yes fair point about sills v roof. It's going in to the Skoda dealership next week so I might see if the mechanics know. Cheers
  24. Go onto the Infotainment, select car, then settings, should get a menu list, scroll down until you find service, click on it and see what the car says. It will have 2 entries an inspection or oil change and full service. Both will have how many miles until due (rounded to nearest 100) and number of days until due. Just because a dealer has set a diary reminder in a colander doesn't mean you have done the mileage you expect (although if it was a PCP and they sold you one based on correct mileage, should be similar to their calc)
  25. Probably don't need to lift the car for the measurements I'm thinking of. 👍 I'll have a think and post more tomorrow.
  26. No tips I’m afraid, other than to find a better garage. I had a rear reverse camera fitted and the wiring was routed under the plastic sills. I’d sooner figure out how to lift the sills than drop the roof liner…
  27. the car should be told about the new battery to ensure it charges it correctly, in terms of voltage. Assuming you replaced like with like (an AGM with an AGM) then the issue isn't that serious but I would still get it done to ensure maximum battery life.
  28. My Trinity alloys were also diamond cut & I had have them refurbed a couple of times over the years. In the end I decided that powder coating them black to match the body colour offered better protection, gave the car a meaner look, & hides the road grime & brake dust. At £60+vat per wheel it was also cheaper than having them traditionally refurbed & diamond cut.
  29. My understanding is you don’t have to have a paid for subscription to any of their Connect Services to receive the OTA updates - just assign a primary user to the car and link to the Skoda Connect App, which is free. i agree that you should be happy to be on version 1941 as it is stable and snappy. The OTA update to version 1969 will eventually materialise but the question is when, but honestly, unless you have issues with version 1941 I wouldn’t be in any hurry to receive it.
  30. According to some people in the trade, especially in the trade of sourcing 2nd hand BEV's for their customers from auctions are actually reporting significant price jumps in the prices of used BEVs so the bubble has it seems been well and truly burst.
  31. Thank you. These are presumably cars bought by dealers before Skoda changed the game.
  32. I've been doing a bit of playing about this morning 1st thing there was way to much fluid in the power stearing so I've syringed it out, 2nd thing light is still on but I noticed if I start engine straight away light is on but if I turn the key wait for light to go out then start it light stays off I've tried this several times and always the same outcome.
  33. unless there was something like the petrol station network that would allow you to recharge anywhere you liked, when you liked and in a speedy manner and then you could drive an EV without any upfront cost of a home charger. Just like an ICE ;o)
  34. A brand new car at £27 450 includes around £4,575 in VAT so i wouldn't pay more than £22,875 for it when it was 16 month old, would even expect to pay less because that figure allows for no depreciation at all, there is no longer any VAT due on it.
  35. now if only there was a nation wide network of charging stations a bit like , oh I don't know, lets say petrol stations. You know, somewhere you could refuel your EV in the same way you do an ICE vehicle then there needn't be any upfront costs. Even better , wouldn't it be nice if your EV could be fully refuelled in a few minutes so that not so many charging points needed. How many ICE owners have fuel tanks installed at their property so they can buy fuel in bulk and refuel cheaper than at the local Esso or Shell etc? as that's what you're effectively doing with EV home charging, isn't it? You want to pay less per unit but there is an associated up front cost. Is this really wrong/bad?
  36. 37 pence a kWh, a minimum £5 for charging and a time penalty on the Rapids has stopped locals taking their EV and plugging in and some even abandoning the car for hours / while they have a round of golf it seems in part of South Ayrshire.
  37. I checked and on the box it says only Octavia Combi.
  38. I've not had any problems using the sat nav to find places, like many people I use postcodes most of the time. The reason I wanted village names is just that we often use old fashioned road maps as well on long trips, and it is nice to be able to pinpoint where we are using the village names on the sat nav🙂
  39. Do you want to replace as bulb or an actual light unit including bulbs?
  40. 14 years of a Conservative and Unionist Government that just agreed with the EU up to Brexit and since. Type approval of vehicles and legislation. Cornering Foglights, brake lights on with Autohold, brake lights the full length of the rear of cars. They let the Manufacturers off with defeat devices. They knew of them pre breaking news late 2015. So now they are against the war on motorists seemingly. Now they think that older drivers annoyed by headlights might give their vote to the Tories at the next GE. Simply clever. Maybe mandate that car headlights require checking at a PDI and at each pre delivery check and not first after 3 years on the road.
  41. My rule of thumb is, while driving on a flat level road if your headlights light up the number plate on the car in front then:- Your headlights are to bright. Your headlight aim is to high. Your too close to the vehicle in front. Or a combination of the above. Thanks. AG Falco
  42. The water pump on my Superb 1.4 TSO was replaced under warranty (previous owner) at 65k miles. Car is currently at 127k
  43. I too don't understand why the door needs to be open, no mention of that as a condition in the handbook. It appears to be a simple cable release https://digital-manual.skoda-auto.com/w/en_GB/show/54909c3a007752bf538427d946427388_2_en_GB?query=bonnet
  44. Bonnet release is in the car, if you can open the drivers door then you can use it, I can't see why you think you need to open the passenger door?
  45. As one who likes a green car, I'd be tempted by something in "Royal Green Metallic". Is that a new colour to Skoda or has it appeared on other models?
  46. I have wired my Nextbase 522 into the rear wiper fuse 66. It's a circuit that only comes on with the ignition. Everything works except it doesn't do the parking mode recording if someone bumps the car as there's no power. Works perfectly well otherwise and there was a lot of space for the piggy back connector in the fuse box. I just wish they would have put the USB C socket in the rear view mirror like in my old Octavia VRs.
  47. Bloke is an idiot. He is speeding (indicated 74 mph) clearly has now knowledge of the cubic relationship speed and energy usage. If he just cruised a bit slower he should have only needed one stop and if he done even the modicum of research he could have gone to a place where there is multiple charger where there are nearly always at least one or more pretty vacant to use. Stellantis cars have not been good for range with the 50 kWh battery pack, actual useable power only just 45 kWh on many of them and it is quite a big car. That pack is better in the Corsa or the B segment cars rather than C segment where you really need around the 60 kwh packs and above.
  48. Do you have a spare tyre? If not, don't unscrew it! It may not go deep enough to leak, I had one recently where the screw was bizarrely short, and the tyre did not deflate at all after removal.
  49. The current crop of PHEVs (plug-ins) COULD be the best of both, but only if car makers can get more all electric capacity. The extremely high cost of the super fast chargers makes electric running much more expensive than petrol which is really silly, because this is the car makers solution for range anxiety. For me, it makes electric cars far too costly for anything but small cars, which is no good for me. Being able to fall back on combustion engine is not great for pollution, but 80 miles of battery with a reasonably fast charge (at maybe 22kwh) would be the best compromise, but this needs battery size / weight / capacity to improve quite a bit. None plug-in hybrids do very little to reduce pollution since the petrol engine is running most of the time, unlike in a PHEV.
