  1. Coolant leak sorted and flushed through, filled up and drained pretty much All day, till I got pure water coming out, took forever but I like to be thorough, now have some lovely genuine g12+ pink coolant. Left pressure tester on it for half hour and didn’t drop a fraction so all good. New genuine bottle and newer style black cap too.
  2. i don't mind being old then as I like flaps on Gandalf 😁 ads

I have not had much chance to ride my folding bike as i have either been looking after my sons dog or the weather has been crap. I got on it a couple of times this week and will be using it a lot next week. I see there is a new version out. The improvements / upgrades are something that were needed IMO.
  4. As far as I am aware, as a spare wheel isn't a legal requirement, if one is present it is not subject to MOT. This from Gov.uk 2.12 Tyres and wheels These will be inspected to check for: condition security tyre size and type tread depth Spare wheels and tyres are not inspected. Vehicles first used on or after 1 January 2012 will be checked to make sure the tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) MIL is working.
  5. That will be a seperate assist system kicking in. If you are driving on ACC it will not stop for stationary vehicles although automatic braking may intervene seperately. However this is an emergency assist system and should not be relied on for daily driving IMHO
  6. Tricky indeed. We are a bit off topic, but I feel and agree with both: being a car enthusiast you always want to put a bit of yourself in your ride. At the same time, the choice of the "mods" depend on each one's tastes and wants, capability (both economical and technical), and largely in where you are located. And, I would add with a personal perspective, how long you've been doing it and what are your current expectations. I've spent huge amounts on money on cars, sometimes I've never recovered it, and I am now a bit more 'wary' when choosing something, because I really try but cannot let it go ... ☺️
  7. In what way are they troublesome...? Reading between the lines, I think you might want aftermarket pads with more initial bite which may give you a better braking feel. This shouldn't cause any warranty concerns as the pads and discs are normally wear and tear items anyway. If you haven't already, you may also want to consider better tyres too 👍 It also sounds like you need to realise a Superb is not a light, nimble, sportscar and slow down for the three worse corners. Which will save you the expense and potential hassle of modifying your car along with the earache from your wife!!
  8. I have a Candy White Superb and to my eyes, I would say that car is more likely to be moon white. Candy White is a bit more "cream" in appearance. Probably more like that wall behind the car...
  9. Finally nice complementary environment for our new toxic dragon

Sorry my bad. Down right hand drive car. Up then maybe left hand drive.
  11. Having removed the starter motor I confirmed the problem was that the pin on which the staring lever pivoted had, indeed, somehow become detached. I attempted to find a similar pin that might fit, but to no avail and I eventually decided to bite the bullet and buy a new starter motor. At this stage I made contact with www.pragos.cz who are just brilliant when it comes to finding parts for the really old Skodas. They sell the starter motors on an exchange basis, so I posted my non-working one and awaited my new one, which was duly returned quite quickly. Incidentally, the Czech Republic is now a member of the E.U., and the United Kingdom isn’t, but this made no difference whatsoever to the delivery of both my old starter to the Czech Republic or my new one to the United Kingdom! Right then, now let’s fit it to the engine…… It slotted into the place where the old one had been without a problem, but the tightening of the nuts proved every bit as difficult as they had been when I removed them. I could only tighten them a few degrees at a time, which was somewhat frustrating, and rather like cycling to Pluto, but over time I could feel the nut going onto the thread. I took a breather when I saw the stub of the bolt come through the other end of the nut-phew-and I subsequently just kept going. It took for ever, but eventually it started to become tighter and finally it became tight against the engine block. Once I was happy they were as tight as I could make them I clipped the wire over the lever and wired the car to a spare battery. I confirmed the ignition system in the car was working and tested the lights, indicators and fan before pulling on the starter wire……AND IT TURNED OVER! I knew it wouldn’t start, but I was reassured the block hadn’t seized over the year the car hadn’t been touched. I then tightened the securing nuts still further, as the action of operating the starter had shaken the bolts a little. I’ve ordered a complete gasket set and will be replacing the exhaust and lower water pipe gaskets before reconnecting the various items I disconnected or removed in order to remove the starter, before topping up the cooling system again and connecting the fuel system to a 5 litre plastic container, as there’s still a problem with the fuel line. But that’s a battle for another day……
  12. I wanted to thank all you Briskodians for your posts. As a new owner (less than a month) I am trying to get to grips with all the Superbisms and Skodaisms on my new Mk2 and reading your posts... old and new.... has been so helpful. Things that I have learnt so far from you include: That my Columbus is called a Rns510 and how to load firmware, and then update maps to v17, which I have done successfully. That if I hold down the lock button on my key for 2 seconds it folds in wing mirrors....and as this didn't work on my Superb initially, I also learnt how to reset this by (bizarrely) opening and closing the windows. Where to buy a car boot bumper protector for my Mk2 that fitted. Even the posts complaining about niggles with the Superb have been really enlightening and I have learnt loads not only about my car but also the expectations of other owners... I think as this is without a doubt the nicest car I have ever owned I am more easily pleased than many of you. 😍 I am slowly working my way through the owners manual as well... But your posts are much more interesting to read! So please reply if you can, with any other secrets that a newbie like me might not know. Thanks again Zea
  13. I'm assuming that it's synthetic oil but the service record doesn't state which has been used. Anyway, surely it's the mileage that matters not time with oil ? Maybe I'm missing something but why doesn't the warning work on mileage only ? I'm thinking another ploy to give main dealers income. I will call the dealer who did the last service and ask.
  14. The codes are telling you that there is misfiring going on. It’s not telling you why! I would start out with checking the usual service items - have the spark plugs been changed recently? Engine air filter? And what do the spark plugs look like?
  15. Thanks, other than the faff of changing them that's problem solved. Cheers 🍻 love a simple solution. You live and learn. Just a lambda sensor and front drop links to do now. This is the most difficult car I've ever had to change the bulbs.
  16. I bought Skoda OEM mudflaps from Kopacek and fitted them myself. Very very easy to do. I don't know of any Skoda models that come factory fitted with mudflaps.
  17. As you can see below, 3V0601025F is Diamond silver, whereas 3V0601025AG is Gloss black. 8Jx18 ET44 5/112 57.1 Zenith alloy rim 3V0601025F 8Z8 Diamond silver 8Jx18 ET44 5/112 57.1 Zenith alloy rim 3V0601025AG JX2 Gloss black 3V0071498E 8Z8 appears to be the same as 3V0601025F 8Z8, except for the OEM part number that is cast into it. The difference is the xxx071xxx alloy rim is in the Skoda alloy rim accessory catalogue. However, it's not in the latest one, so might not be available to order anymore. The price in Czech would be about £240 including VAT, because the alloy rims in the Skoda alloy rim accessory catalogue are priced to compete with aftermarket alloy rims...hence they are often about 40% of the factory price, ie. about 60% off the price of the factory alloy rims. The xxx061xxx format is a factory alloy rim, whereas the xxx071xxx format is from the Skoda alloy rim accessory catalogue...and hence much cheaper. 2021 Skoda alloy rim accessory catalogue https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/639a0118-4da5-446b-a786-86e1f789b57b If you find the OEM part number of any alloy rim in the Skoda alloy rim accessory catalogue, it can be ordered from any VAG parts department...if it's still available. However, 3V0071498E might not be available anymore because it's not in the latest Skoda alloy rim accessory catalogue. If you wanted to order a cheap steel spare rim, mytyres are listing an 8Jx18 ET45 5/112 57.1 steel rim that is only 1mm difference in offset to the 8Jx18 ET44 5/112 57.1 alloy rim. Alcar 9383 8Jx18 ET45 5/112 57.1 steel rim (from Skoda Enyaq iV and VW iD.4 and VW iD.Buzz) https://www.mytyres.co.uk/rims/details?vehicleId=1313955427855111280&rimCode=ALCAR9383
  18. I was going to buy some from China maybe next month. I'll let you know.
  19. hello, funny thing i have a friend and he was quite "smart" (he is a bartender) he ask me if i did like his internet provider says: " did you unplug the modem for 3min?" i pull out the minus on the batery for 10 min . magic warning light reset worked i think the circut went in protection after the cheap LED burnt itself just needed a reset. thank you for your time super much apreciated all great ideas happen at the pub :)) ha ha yes found out later that is DRL. its fuse 17 ( DRL with the start stop function one fuse )
  20. "Ask me, they should be compulsory on every single vehicle on the road, regardless of its class or type." Over my dead body
  21. Just the same old Skoda Secret Service, need to know, loose lips cost lives crap like with Service Campaigns, Recall Actions etc and Customers / Owners are those with no need to know. Truth of the matter is usually the person spoken to know jack sh!t about anything and nobody bothers telling them.
  22. It’s a poor show this, just got off the phone to the dealer and they insist the reason for the ‘stop’ order has come from the factory but they claim the details as to why / what is as yet not disclosed - given the tendency for dealers to be economical with the truth I don’t know what to believe. Either way, whatever it is must be considered serious as to not let the vehicles out?
  23. My point about finance and insurance wasn't about the generation of spare parts, but more about their stance if there is a lack of them? In the US there is a Fisker case where because they couldn't get a door part after several months, the insurer decided to write it off. Would this happen here or would the insurer just wriggle out of it ? Similarly, if your Fisker is on finance, are you on your own if the car's software / motor/ batteries fail and the supplying garage that brokered the finance also couldn't fix or source parts ? On the car itself, I know it's more Kodiaq than Yeti, but that top spec one is brilliant / terrible value !
  24. For 2024 changes to every Karoq spec was made so they have the correct technology for the forthcoming legislation. But even if they are awaiting a software update I can't see why that affects cars registered before 7th July so we may be barking up the wrong tree reqarding delays.
  25. The sticker in the boot will only contain about 10-20 pr codes whereas the cars nowadays have a few hundred.
  26. I’m in the same predicament, vehicle arrived 23 May and dealer been very quiet until today - can’t have delivery now until at least 25 June - no variable cruise on ours……
  27. Hello Mark, I'll be glad to help. I'll send you a private message in a sec, with a contact number for whatsapp etc. Cheers, Pete
  28. They look aftermarket to me, too shiny (could have been painted as well). I wonder where the emblem comes from 🤪 I am afraid they might not fit a Scout, at least the OEM, as you have the extra fender lip. At least, when I was looking into them (the Scout was the closest competitor) I did not manage to find anywhere a successful install. I think mudflaps are a divisible argument, but I am with Graham above on the functionality and practicality of it. I would also mention the added safety factor by minimizing road spray thrown to vehicles come behind you. In a way, is also an accessory for increasing respect to the others on the road, something fairly forgotten nowadays. Ask me, they should be compulsory on every single vehicle on the road, regardless of its class or type. Now true, some vehicles with flaps look better than others ... these two rank among by favorites (and not only in the flaps' department!) Fantastic look, and perfect functionality ... ☺️
  29. am I the only person thinking that emergency braking assistance is an emergency system and not something you should be relying on in traffic? That's what the brake pedal is for. FYI if you're talking about when you have ACC enabled (which will bring you to a stop if the vehicle you are following slows & stops) then the handbook explicitly states it doesn't stop for stationary objects.
  30. Hi, the sport that I was involved with was international/national road cycling, where Skoda has been the "vehicle of sponsorship" for many years. Yes the biggest cycling event is the Tour De France and there are TV commercials of Skoda's being driven in and out of cyclist (especially on a descents) where the riders only has be very small tyre surface area on the bitumen and there are vehicles going in, out and around riders at speed. Sorry for any confusion, but I was not really going to mentioned this, but this is where I first noticed the number of appointments/extra that Skoda have compared to other vehicles in a similar style. My previous Skoda sedan, had roof racks, with flashing lights, two radios, bull horn etc and I found the exact same horn that the tour has. I was impressed because no matter what the weather/road or other issues that presented during a race, the Skodas performed extremely well, good speed, good braking (to a sudden stop-when someone has fallen directly in front of your vehicle) and handling and comfort.
  31. Octohere My mistake regarding the diameter of my 2009 Skoda Roomster's front discs. I've measured them a bit more carefully and, although they are certainly NOT 288mm, they are definitely larger than my Fabia's. To get an exact measurement I'd need to remove a wheel, but the Roomster's front discs are around 270mm, so may be the 276mm-diameter you've mentioned for Fabia Mk4s that have the 1.5litre motor.
  32. Here are the results from the first test, home-work-home, no boulevard no Highway just plain City traffic with traffic lights etc in average 20 Km speed. As you can see i just parked my car and i took the photos. Average: 10.7 ltr per 100 km Total: 2.5 ltr for 24.4 Km so 10.24 ltr or 27.59 Uk MPG. As you can see the results are no matching and i have explained why, nevertheless they showing that the FC had dropped dramatically compared to the one from previous year (same season) and they are the best for an at least 5 years period. My car AT LAST is getting improved, if i didn't had those 2 bags in the trunk plus the weight from the insulation the results for sure would be better but i am happy with what i have. I wish i could do another test but i have the ''G12 project" in my mind and i don't think i have the time for another one with the existing G11.
  33. It is the usual horlicks that is Charge Place Scotland or actually CPS being administered by SWARCO.
  34. Wow, Gaz, that looks seriously major, and very expensive. I think it’ll be much easier and cheaper to get my local joiner to build a framework on which I can place a chipboard floor. That could then be removed for the MOT.
  35. Have you tried to talking to HSY Autoparts in Ringwood (Vic)? I am sure they will be able to source some ATE ceramic pads and discs for the Superb, which is what I am planning to do once my brakes need replacing.
  36. Have you actually had braking issues with the original pads apart from how quickly they wear out...? I only ask as the stock system is more than capable of locking the wheels and is not the limiting factor in how quickly you can stop. On track with repeated acceleration and heavy braking it's possible to overheat them etc. I'd be surprised if you're able to do this on roads with normal traffic and speed limits.
  37. With the virtual cockpit, the only way (or, at least, the only way I know of) is to dig into the menus and do it that way. It's bloody annoying.
  38. Yeah, thanks. I have done this with @ApertureS and he has been very helpful. Which is appreciated and why this group is so good.
  39. @kernowboi, as vegarz mentioned, you need to install first the version 308, and then 330. You should not update directly to 330 with your current version. All the links to the required files are available in this thread some messages above. If you would get confused with the update instructions, please ask. I have updated my Kodiaq to 308 about a month ago and decided to wait and see if it will get the next update OTA. Unfortunately, nothing comes OTA to my car (neither with my previous 306 software, nor with 308).
  40. Mudflaps are not only something for seniors and also have nothing to do with tuning or gimmicks. Their real purpose is to protect the body of the vehicle from mud damage and, above all, from small stones and other foreign objects that are thrown up by the tires and thrown at the body and paint of the car with considerable speed and force. This can cause damage that, in my opinion, is much more unsightly than the mud flaps themselves.
  41. 1 point
It thinks you are driving with the handbrake on. Check the switch by the handbrake and its wiring.
  42. No, it's important to distinguish between two separate environmental problems here. DPFs and GPFs are to do with air quality. Reducing the amount of particulates we're having to breathe. Respiratory problems like asthma, etc. "Net Zero" is about reducing greenhouse gasses to try and help with climate change.
  43. No problem, I'll send you some contact details via private message. 👍
  44. Hello Josh, I've just sent you a Private Message with my number in it. 👍
