  1. This is my 2023 2.0 TSI 4x4 Sportline about to set off from Milton Keynes on a 500 mile trip to Kildrummy, Aberdeenshire. The combined weight of trailer and the 1983 Metro 1.3 HLE is 1,400 kg. I've done 288 miles today, basically M1 and M6 to Dumfries, the cruise control was set to 60 and the Karoq maintained this speed easily. Initially it seemed to be using D6 more than I expected but then settled into using D7 most of the time. The overall mpg for the 288 miles was 32.6 which I thought was pretty good. I did the same journey previously using a 2.0 TDI Touran (same trailer and load) and it averaged 35 mpg. The revs never went above 2000 rpm and most of the time it was using a rev range of 1,200 to 1,800 rpm. On normal non dual carriageways (where trailers are limited to 50mph) it was pulling happily in D7 at around 1,400 rpm. Overall it was very smooth and quiet, the trailer load on the rear suspension seemed to make it softer over any bumps too. Overall it seems a very capable tow car, and working out more economical than I anticipated.
  2. Despite all my reservations regarding DSG, leaking panoramic sunroofs, a lack of independent rear suspension, lack of Varioflex and, largely prompted by commenting on this thread, I have just Part ex'd my 2023 manual SE L for a new 1.5 DSG Sportline Edition in Race Blue. I will miss the useful centrally mounted and lidded storage bin which for some reason has dissappeared on the later cars. The new car has Columbus, but I must say the physical 'knobs' on the Amundsen unit in my 2023 car make it much easier to use. Collecting the new one in a few days and in the meantime looking at GAP, which appears to be much more costly than just a few years back.
  3. Bought a new SEL Edition model and didnt realise that some items were missing from the older models, the VW group seem very quick to announce upgrades on new models but not so quick to tell you whats been left off. More homework needed next time methinks!
  4. We are going to stick with out 157k Skoda Superb estate for now. We have had her since around 50k and is ell maintained by specialists and has nice pink clear coolant! The EGR vaalve has just faile dthis week so we will get that replaced and see where we are.
  5. Thank you all for your advice. We decided not to go ahead with that car and agree the coolant being at or below minimum was a concern with no disclosed work on the cooling system recently. I did look at other cars on the forecourt and they appeared to have the same colour coolant but to my mind it looks wrong.
  6. Good morning. I just drove 70 km here in the morning, more than 50 km being in highway, and I went up to 130's. Nothing :-)) So, this was a one time burning off the clogs/residues. I am relieved. Have a wonderful weekend. God bless you @Skodaudi
  7. Although it may not be entirely accurate - the digital certificate for my car tells me I have 18" Alloys and 17" 'tires'!
  8. Me me me me....... Back on topic, I can't find EV Bjorn of Norway/Thailand testing Mini to empty. Closes I have found is BMW i4. Video runs the car to completely empty. Drove quite far on 0%. Charged a bit using portable battery and drove to a rapid charger.
  9. It is exactly those additives with nitrates that increase the combustion and exhaust temperatures. With external spray cleaning it is also possible that the cleaning spray has dissolved oil or other dirt, that has then accumulated to dpf surface and started to smoke during a dpf regen (in this event, exhaust gas and dpf temperatures are also elevated for the regeneration) or because of the additive. This would be better scenario since then there is no actual damage at the dpf or cat.
  10. As everyone else, I'd think a visually pink or orange colour (even coolant at 10 years old), absolutely not brown.
  11. Current VW coolant (from 2019) is G12evo (following on from G13, of course!) to me 12evo looks pinkish but VW call G12+, G12++, G13 and G12evo violet (G13 looks pinkish to me, not seen the other two). What they are not is brown - but the coolant you have looks an off (dirty?) pinkish to me, as Ootohere has put perhaps mixed with something else, I'd not expect that from a two year old car, or two years after a (good) coolant change. Two owners on a 2023 car(?). HTH.
  12. 2022 Sportline would not have had a Heated front screen as standard. If you have heated front screen you will have button circled in red above MENU.

  17. Thanks all... Yeah the response from Skoda UK is attached. It seems that skoda recommend it is a life time part - but I guess if you walked into your local dealer and asked them to do a timing belt change they are not going to turn down the business.. It just seems mad to me that it's not a recommended change...
  18. Hi Breezy_Pete, Don't bother, i've found it, or at least the color codes match :-) (and it is not at a place where you can see it on a dismantled engine/gearbox, I've tried that EBay path to no avail also). I'll make pictures and post my journey here later. Regards, Loek
  19. For similar reason I keep a full paper service history and place it in the car when I sell it or trade it in.
  20. Thank you, Derek, for all the work you have put into this. What I take from all the people who have offered assistance is that my Fabia is behaving as Skoda intended. I am content to live with that. Cars have changed so much over the 65 years I have been driving (particularly in the digital field), that I struggle to comprehend what they can do, and to some extent resent handing control over to them. But that's my problem. Thanks again, I appreciate your input. Tom
  21. Thanks for reporting back. Personally I would prefer a 2010 car to a 2023 car, when I used to drive two neighbours cars, a 2023 Nissan Qashqai and a 2005 Kia Picanto, I much preferred driving the 2005 car without many of the driver "aids" and any "assists" ( I preferred driving it against my wife's 2015 Fabia too but obviously not a popular sentiment here) I also drive another neighbour's 2016 Corsa automatic which is fine but it only has 8k-miles on it. I think 2017 is about as new as you want to go, certainly with a VW product, but it won't be as well made as a 2010 (then a 2010 won't be as well made as from the previous century). You can't keep old cars going for ever but for longer than most think, and economically when compared to all costs for buying and running a new car, but of course it does depend on how well the old car was looked after in the past and how well it continues to be, that doesn't have to be excessive either. Good luck.
  22. See the picture below - I believe aerial base 6C) 035 501 is broken due to water ingress
  23. The old ones and new ones are faster than official figures. And Sport not automatically quicker. Set dynamic off etc. Or on or try in MID or Green but really tyres and pressures matter most and that does not mean 18 or 17, wider tread is quicker and less wheelspin. Front wheel drive and some say the old one was too heavy at the front. I think and know they really have not timed them. I use DRAGY.
  24. Disconnected and reconnected the battery, the whole car went to errors, Started the engine and let it run then the errors cleared. The car would still not lock. Turned off the car for 5mn restated, turned off again and the car finally accepted to lock without flushing and staying that the trunks is open. I really don't know what happened
  25. So lucky me - thank you for taking the time for the response. Wife’s car hopefully arrives late June and I’ll give a view on whether the DCC is noticeable on the 85 sport line
  26. Thanks. Very good videos on the 30 kwh 2000 to 2023. Do like the"Out of Spec" guy. Does some great content. Talking the Zoe ZE50 round the Nurnburgring is one of my favourites and getting the motor to over speed it's 11500 ram limit. The 2024 to present mini with the 36 " useable", 40 kwh smaller option battery is supposedly about 30% more range. Don't think the E version is available in some markets so Bjorn Nyland only tested the bigger battery SE with the 49 kwh battery. Shame as the E sounds the better dynamically not suffering the extra weight penalty. What really sold us the E over tge SE was driving both the E felt quite close in acceleration performance and the ZEPREF website confirmed there was only about 4 tenths of second ie 7.2 to 6.8s to 100 kph between the 2 versions. £3K lower RRP and that can be spent on moving up the level packs and level 1 exclusive seemed to have some nice add ons. £500 off currently. Same figure Mini Agents get as they have to declare this now. Mini dealers probably make more money on second hand sales.

Although I agree with you that it would be useful to know what the solution is in this partiocular case for future reference, your tone seems unnecessarily sharp - I am tempted to say that a nice person would have asked more politely and without the "shouting" by the use of block capitals.
  28. @Ootohere Wow, did they say that they actually have roundabouts in Colorado? The Yanks, over at RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall, are often confused at the roundabouts on our roads!
  29. Typical, just did a very long overnight journey and wanted to see how that impacted the score. I've no doubt that Skoda are still collecting all that data, as will most (all?) modern connected vehicles, it's the clarity of the end purpose that needs to be addressed.
  30. Green Plus mode restricts power so acceleration, throttle response, but not the TOP Speed, (Like in very cold weather.) you can go at 70 mph, you can go at 94 mph on CC or not, but acceleration is restricted because power is. He could have tried it and floored the accelerator. Or you just move to GREEN, MID or Sport, boot it and then back to GREEN + if someone is up your jacksy. 116 miles CrossClimates on an AC is pretty damn good. AC off sooner (windows open or sunroof) and into Sport Mode and more coasting with Regen on Low it would have gone further. . Ye olde. He gets 170 miles... Bottom vid. I get 110 miles when it shows a am doing 3.5 miles a kWh If it showed 4 miles a kWh then that would be 130 miles plus.. His cars @ fault, (There were Software updates since.) it is never averaging 4.9 - 5.2. it works it out on the 32.6 kWh total capacity. (That is where they get the WLTP Figure) 5 x 32.6 is 163 miles available, or if counting 30 kWh @ 4.9 miles then 147 miles. The estimated range changes if you set the heating say from 16 degrees to 20 degrees, put on the AC to cool, go from Mid to Sport it might not, go from Mid to green it will show an extra 3 miles, go to Green + and maybe an extra 6 miles. I know what is best, and if you need no heating / cooling and can go into Cruise Control & Green + you might get an extra 20 miles range still at 70 mph. Amazing, i did get 145 miles and not empty. on a77 slowly, warm day not roasting. No AC on. Loads of traffic from ferry on way back, some on way south.
  31. Hi All. This afternoon I'm going to look at a 2020 Karoq 2.0 tsi 4x4. Can anyone tell me what DSG box these have? Also, what is the service intervals for the DSG and Haldex published anywhere? Car has done 40662 miles so Id assume it should have had haldex changed once and possibly dsg box serviced as well? It's at a Skoda dealer, so will be asking these questions Thanks Adrian
  32. We didn’t code it afterwards, it was plug and play. The replacement box came out of a Passat CC and had radar cruise and electronic handbrake, as a result when we scanned it for fault codes it brought them up on out version of Launch, we never bothered trying to delete them, instead they always cropped up if we were scanning for fault codes.
  33. Can you imagine the amount of coverage if it were electric stagecoach. The unbalanced reporting nature must mean they are hiding something (!) the main stream media must keep a narrative (!) I like to be sure before I get on a stagecoach (!) (you get your own tin foil hat)
  34. To edit the name of a stored favourite: With the favourites screen displayed, touch rather than tap the extreme right hand side of the favourite you want to rename and slide your finger to the left. You will see two options, a pencil symbol which you should tap to edit the name and a bin symbol which you should tap to delete the favourite if you wish. Hope this helps🤞🏼
  35. Some of the dpf cleaners work by increasing exhaust gas temperature and burning the soot in the filter that way, what could cause burning through / leak in the exhaust equipment. Other, I wud say better, dpf cleaners work by decreasing the temperature needed for soot combustion and dont increase the exhaust gas temperature. Do you recall what brand you used? With engine cleaner, do you mean engine flush before an oil change? As precaution I wud fill the tank with diesel to dilute the dpf cleaner.
  36. Diesel particulate filter (DPF) and catalysator are there in somewhat combined unit. I guess it was related to dpf regeneration, thus not smoking later. Probably will smoke when it regens next time (burns soot in the filter). And to be clear, there should not be smoke in the engine department, the dpf (or the cat) is leaking.
  37. I enquired with Skoda and was told it is now only on the VRS and comes as standard
  38. The Drivers package was just DCC, nothing else. It was a £650 option on Sportline 85 models only (not available with the 60 battery or other trims) It doesn't seem to be available outside of the package nor included in any other packages.

Looks like Skoda have removed Driving Score from the App and have removed reference to it on the web site.
  40. Check out this beast, it's been done. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vN7T2_ERG9Y In theory yes, it's possible to do without fault codes as the ECU software is the same across all MQB platform cars with differing parameters.
  41. I had a similar thing happen to me at the main dealer said all the pads and discs need replacing and told them that's rubbish, when taking the car to a local garage was told there is nothing wrong with them.
  42. My first go so please be gentle with me. A friend of mine took his car into his local Skoda dealer to have his breaks inspected. He receives a telephone call from Skoda , requires new discs and pads all round. Mileage was 22,000 but he agreed to the recommendation of the dealer. Next service his is informed that the discs and pads are worn out. From memory it's about 7000 miles. Change them but I want all the old parts back !! Plenty of warning but upon collection he was informed parts have been disposed off. Went to speak to the Dealer Principal who was amazed re wear but told him it must be his driving style. He told the dealer principal what's what and left the garage ! To this day he has not paid the bill for the break components. Now takes his 4 Skoda cars to a local independent garage and saved a fortune
  43. Yesterday I fitted a reversing camera. I set off the 'virtual pedal' whilst in the boot and ended up shut inside and had to shout for my family to let me out. 😂🤔😂
  44. From the new owner. Amazing what a difference a wash and some new plates can make.
  45. That coolant colour could possibly be a result of system being topped up with G13 - which, IIRC is purple - I believe I have seen references to this colour change before. I believe that G12 & G13 are compatible with each other, so there shouldn't be any issue. From what I see in posted image, coolant doesn't appear to be contaminated.
  46. Looks wrong to me as well. Having added Liquid Sealant / Rad Weld type colour. Or mixed / topped up with the wrong coolant / anti freeze / rust inhibitor.
  47. My best guess is that it is the battery level of your mobile phone, which is Bluetoothed to the car. Did you charge it overnight by any chance? :-)
  48. I hope you get an answer, Simon. All too often people document a problem and fail to document the solution. 🙄
  49. activate additional ambient light colours open the bonnet 09 central electrics - adaptations - interior light hmi config first and second value should be 7fffffff coding and ignition of, ignition on turn multimedia on , find ambient lights and shoul be activated additional 20 colours
