  1. Hi, I’ve been a VAG owner since 1994, from a Vento TDI to Passat models, Estate and Saloon, plus an Audi A3 with DSG that I traded for yet one more Passat Estate, the Audi was to small, but I enjoyed using the DSG in S mode. I just paid for my new Superb Estate and am waiting for the mud flaps to be fitted. I’m not tech minded and get almost all of any work required either through a dealer (if in Warranty) or a local VAG specialist that I trust. My car is almost always clean and tidy both inside and out. I drive between 10 and 12k a year mainly 3040 mile runs with shorter shopping stuff and longer runs about a dozen times a year. Too old to work and still enjoying life, family and friends. Hopefully I’ll fit in hear and enjoy your company. Thanks for letting me in. John
  2. From January the London congestion charge will increase to £18 a day, up from £15. For the first time EV's will have to pay the congestion charge, but at a reduced rate of £13.50 a day.
  3. I understood they were using a fablon-like metallised paper - peel and stick.
  4. Your maths is correct - I was doing 2 or 3 journeys a day of about 2 to 3 miles each - why didn't I walk - I probably should have done! It never warmed up really. It was all round Milton Keynes 70 mph dual carriageways with roundabouts every 1 kilometer. On long runs the Touran would average 60 mpg easily and over the first 90,000 miles averaged 50 mpg. I think the diesel was thirsty whilst getting to a speed, and economical once there. This summer I did a 1000 mile trip to MK to Aberdeen and back towing my classic car on a two axle trailer. The KAroq averaged 30mpg the Touran did the same trip in 2019 averaged 35 mpg - both times I was travelling at 60 mph on the motorways using cruise on the Touran but Speed limiter on the Karoq which allowed it to coast quite a bit.
  5. Good for local jobs if they keep the factory open here.
  6. Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedures / WLTP is really not Real World or World Wide Testing, it is often the figure that is the battery capacity and times the max miles it might go per kWh. 4 miles is one thing, 5 miles often a wish and a dream, and where a 29 kWh gross 27.5 kWh usable times 6 is taking the p!th. eg Renault Twingo EV 163 miles WLTP. RDE2 = Real Driving Emissions Step 2. ICE vehicles. Can also be kidology / fiction.
  7. Octavia Mk4 Estate 1.5TSI Manual - SEL First Edition Manufacture Date: September 2020 (approx) Infotainment Hardware: H56 Display Unit/Control Panel Hardware: H44 Display Unit/Control Panel Software: 2088 Applied the 1989 update manually via USB, then, as I have always done, Factory reset the Infotainment Unit via settings. Re-added myself as Primary User and also my wife as another user (handy as the user is linked to your key fob and adjusts the electric seat position)-no problems at all to report. Definitely think the factory reset is a worthwhile step, but also maybe updating the system in one step via USB is better than OTA?
  8. AutocarThis Volkswagen proves EV batteries last longer than you...The German Automobile Club has shown that EV batteries can stand up to hard use " The German Automobile Club (ADAC) recently published the results of a four-year test using a Volkswagen ID 3 Pro S Tour. It took delivery of the 77kWh EV in May 2021 and various drivers contributed to 100,000 miles driven. The battery was repeatedly checked at the independent Bavarian Test and Technology Centre during the test. The SoH was 96% after 13,500 miles, 94% after 52,000 miles and 91% after 90,000 miles a figure within the expected range. " and in an unrelated group test: " In a large study of its own, involving 402 EVs of the same brand and battery type, the company found that "moderate driving behaviour" reduces energy consumption by 10% over a battery's life cycle. "
  9. Spotted a few (relative) rarities earlier.......
  10. Kodiaq door handle.pdfAs far as I know it's 9nly available as a full door card but is an easy fix... If you remove the top of the handle and the card from the door a small nut, bolt and washer will do the job... https://www.kodiaqforums.co.uk/threads/broken-handle.4109/#post-33938
  11. Top GearBreaking news: TVR is back! Again! And it’ll go electric...Charge Holdings announces TVR as its subsidiary, will now build the Griffith
  12. As an afterthought they could call the electric version TEVR and use the strapline "Clever TEVR". I'll get my coat ...
  13. Mostly longer journeys on motorways using cruise control at a steady speed, so pretty much ideal circumstances for a diesel, covered a little over 33,000 miles so far this year @ 60.1mpg average.
  14. At 7.10 miles/litre in the Touran that works out at about 32mpg! That's petrol territory, and at 6.53 miles/litre in the Karoq is just under 30mpg, so hardly any difference - or have I worked something out incorrectly? Just wondering why the Touran was so thirsty for a diesel, my Superb 2.0 TDI DSG averages 60mpg, quite impressive given the size of the car.
  15. You could always just switch the lights on.
  16. Well, if the "beam" area did not cave in with the weight of the car, no, I believe you did not damage anything 😄 I would however haved moved the stand forward than you did, to have the car rest on the bolt of the subframe, which I believe is structurally more robust.
  17. Hi @Trickiejohn and welcome to Briskoda 👍
  18. I have always turned the stop/start off every journey with my car from new. I am still on the original EFB battery at 9 years old and 92K miles. Stop/Start will still work if I try it. This is also interesting on the wear aspect of stop/start : - Thanks. AG Falco
  19. So, slowly over the past year ive slowly done upgrades to car audio. So far sound deadened and insulated all 4 doors, spare wheel well, rear wheel arches snd trunk floor. Also sound deadened without insulating under the carpet. New headunit. New door speakers (still oem trebble) amp and a brand new android headunit. Most recent addition is a 250wrms 1000w max SQL subwoofer. Still work i need to with it and the amp. But cranking the volume up is now truly terrifying. And apparently it repairs the car. The lights in the drivers door buttons have not worked since march. Now suddenly i saw them flicker with the bass. Then they stopped flickering and was glowing normally. Ive tried looking at faults in the wiring harness in the oast but never found anything. . So i repaired my car with bass. I reccomend this method, its fun xD
  20. Here you go - this is my ftp site where I got 308, 330 and 332. If your boss is adamant about 330 then go for it, but 332 is the latest we're aware of. Linkety-link Download each one, and unzip onto a USB-C memory stick (USB-A if you have the alternative plug in the armrest storage). It only needs to be 8Gb. Plug into USB port, then hold Menu button until it asks to update software - its'll reboot into Engineering Mode (black screen with small red font) and its pretty logical from there. All touchscreen still and some things you may need to tap twice. Doesn't take very long. Ideally plug a battery charger in but if the battery's good and its had a decent run to be nicely charged then that'll be all you need.
  21. Might be worth getting it scanned with VCDS to see if it gives a more accurate reading of fault codes or pings anything else up. The purge valve on my sons mk1 fabia failed with similar fault codes. I replaced valve and seems to have cured problem. From memory I think it was around £20 off amazon and that was a Bosch one. On his its just two pipes and a connector so easy to swap. His was on the left of engine looking from front of car. Alasdair
  22. I hope so, they’re a throwback to the stereotypical bad old days of used car sales - tyres starting to perish, Aircon requiring re-gas after a month and, as you say, pressuring customers into leaving good reviews for what is a very poor service. Really hope karma serves up a good old helping here !
  23. No it won't, Manufacturers will only appoint dealers that can afford the shiny white elephant showrooms that now seem to tbe the norm. They don't care a monkeys about customer service because once you've bought the car you're stuck with it for good or ill.
  24. Yeah I probably saw on here or another forum. Id get it done. Plenty of places will do it. Just piece of mind really.
  25. Hopefully the ADAC cleaned up their act and are no longer Little Liars when it comes to VW products. 9% loss of a battery capacity is more than only 8 miles, even if a 100 kW Battery.
  26. Download the myShipTracking app and you will be able to track the ships leaving emden, depending on what part of the UK your in your car will go to the following ports, South - Sheerness, Mid - Grimsby, North - Tyne. The current ships being used more often than not are Neptune Phos, Elbe Highway, Malacca Highway, Parana and Thames Highway. If you search for your port of entry or emden, it will tell you list of expected arrivals into that port, should give you some more insight as to when it will arrive. When I have had orders shipped previously, ask the dealer to check the system, once it goes to status 36 I believe which is released to shipping, you can pretty much be sure that your car will be on the next boat to your port. I believe status 35 is vehicle at port of exit, that usually means it’s sat in a pound waiting for a ship, once it hits 36 it’s been given the green light to be loaded to a boat. Just a warning tho, it does get addictive 😂
  27. Apologies that should read 2025.06 updates
  28. If your bad experience with Group 1 Skoda (Norwich) is typical, perhaps Skoda UK will consider their options when the franchise next comes up for review. Group 1 applying pressure on customers to give top reviews will be a red flag.
  29. Looks like there are new 2025.08 updates (at least for some RoW countries) out: Australia -> https://updateportalmaps.blob.core.windows.net/maps/OI_P154_AUS_202540_Offline-Update.zip Asia -> https://updateportalmaps.blob.core.windows.net/maps/OI_P154_ASIA_202540_Offline-Update.zip India -> https://updateportalmaps.blob.core.windows.net/maps/OI_P154_INDIA_202540_Offline-Update.zip South America & Mexico -> https://updateportalmaps.blob.core.windows.net/maps/OI_P154_SA_MRM3_202540_Offline-Update.zip Discovered via Skoda update portal. Enjoy!
  30. All the lubrication used to do was make the noise go away for a little while for me. I forgot to update - mine went in for an MOT and failed on the passenger shock absorber. I always suspected the shock absorber and the noise has now gone since it was changed.
  31. When ignition Is On, the 12V battery charging from the HV battery. When ICE running the 12V battery charging When HV battery charging wih DC charger it also charging the 12V battery. During AC charging it cannot charge the 12V one. In case of Mk4 iV
  32. Welcome along - hope you enjoy using the forum 😊
  33. Update - Bought OBDEleven, tinkered with coding and all is well again. Even have my TV tuner back. Thanks
  34. From what others have said in this thread it is a factory default reset you need to do via the settings rather than the forced reset with the power button.
  35. Display hardware version h44 or H47 Volume sliders restarts when you don't expect it. Lots off troubles.
  36. To follow up on this. Test drove one today. Liked it so have ordered one. Yay. Edition 85, with Lodge interior, winter pack and transport pack. Currently at the docks awaiting shipping. Would that be Emden? Expected 3-4 weeks. Checked the boot of the one in the showroom Yep sealant and a pump. We had been told nonsense about self sealing tyres. Only downside they wouldn't take our car as pex and deposit, so have to sell it ourselves. Anyone else had that? Yeah its a French thing, but only 3 years old and really low miles.
  37. Software /Hardware not in anyway an issue. eg Black Boxes fitted for Insurance discounts, car trackers as used for Security and Hire, Loan, Company cars and Dealership / Manufacturers Courtesy cars and demonstrators. Now the 4 countries of the UK and Law & Legislation for something compulsory is a different matter. Data / Information Security and a Provider / Contractor. Maybe they could get FUJITSU or maybe Huawei to be responsible for the administration and security...
  38. That is the type of thing I was referring to that could be used for PPM, all new cars already have some form of connectivity, even if it via a sim card like the SOS button, and it only requires the software to retrieve the data and send it via what ever method possible, even ICE cars have had digital mileometers for decades along with SOS buttons.
  39. More than likely the plastic selector mechanism at base of Gear lever . Theres a spring on my sons thats broken so gear lever feels loose and doesnt re centre. Also check the cast weighted selector balance (not sure what its actually called) on top of Gbox as well. Son in laws vw van is the same as its loose as the centre spindle/splines is worn. Looks like this It can also be the plastic unit that the cables connect to. Alasdair
  40. I think you have a known problem with a certain hardware and software version that sporadically loses its basic settings on its own. Only a control unit update will help here.
  41. Thats the Problem Made SVM by Skoda Service Station
  42. Thank you. I must say that this is way better forum than those finnish forums wich are mainly for vag-cars.
  43. you can only manipulate with BMS changing battery parameters, but its to be done only when change battery. or disconnect battery for few minutes, you cant disconnect on baterry terminal but can on terminal in fusebox.
  44. Forgot to add the pebble silver vs silver pic!
  45. 1 point
Those leds light up the middle section where the cup holders are. During night, the light is faint but noticeable - check it out for yourself.
  46. Talk to a local to you body shop about supplying "NATO Drab anti-radiation paint".
  47. Matrix lights are LED and the light beam adjusts and blanks out cars approaching and cars in front and in my opinion are great and 100 times better than old xenon lights.
  48. Have to say, I'm pretty impressed with the consumption on mine - 2.0TDi 193PS 4x4 - so far (a little over a month in). Even just pootling around locally I'm getting an MPG of low to mid 40s ; and I managed this last Sunday...
  49. I own a 2.0L TDI L&K 193PS 4WD, and I’ve driven 16,000 km so far, achieving an average fuel consumption of 6.5L/100 km. Previously, I had an MK3 2.0L TSI 280PS, which consumed 12L/100 km. While the diesel doesn’t deliver the same power as the petrol engine, its 400Nm torque ensures a responsive driving experience with significantly better fuel efficiency. I am extremely satisfied with the car.
  50. Making heavy weather of this guys........just pull the cover off with your fingers from the top and adjust as required......
