  1. Congratulations @Lee01 ! You win…… nothing 🤣 have a shiny trophy emoji 🏆
  2. Unbelievably the first guess by @Lee01 was spot on!! It's a 1.4 Qashqai automatic in gloss primer grey with dinky grey wheels. Reasonable inside but being a 74 plate it was binging and bongong all the time until two of us worked out how to turn it all off. After that it's been OK if rather jerky setting off from stationary. It'll do the job for a couple of days...

Hello all 👋 I’m new to Skoda but I’ve had many many cars over the years. My dad however has had many Skodas (and other VAG cars) in recent years and loves them. I am and engineer and have a huge interest in classic Japanese cars and modified cars in general, but recently my commute has increased and I needed a cheap and (hopefully) reliable car that does good mpg. While searching Facebook Marketplace 2 1/2 weeks ago I found a 2010 Fabia 1.6tdi Elegance Estate with a recently lapsed MOT, 173k and full of mud/dog/horse, up for £500! I went and had a look and found a few jobs needed for the MOT but nothing obviously awful and it looked pretty tidy under the mud, so I chucked him an offer of £350 and he took it!! 😁👌 In the last few weeks I have been cleaning it up and prepping it for its MOT, and I may of been adding a few mods, because why not 😉 so hopefully in the next week or so it will be on the road. 🤞 I’ll do a proper build thread in the Fabia section soon 😁 Thank you ☺️

  5. Just been looking over the files transferred to my new PC and came across this! It's the Red Bull Driftbrothers M4 - taken at Goodwood FoS at some point in the last few years.
  6. Ooh missed this. Big Linux fan here, started using Slackware and YellowDog back in the early 2000s. Built a free proxy web filter for a school I worked at using Squid and DansGuardian. My desktop went EoL for W11 with the TCM2 issue and tbh I dislike and distrust W11 a lot so rather than throwing some perfecty usable kit away (Ryzen 7 processor, 32Gb ram and 2Tb SSD) I have switched it to Lunux. I started using PoP!OS as this was suppsoed to be the most compatible with NVidia kit out the box. I liked the interface a lot but it did have a lot of issues that were a PITA to fix most notably the NVidia drivers, which were supposed to be the OSs MO. Gave up after a while and went easy mode by installing Mint. TBH nearly 100% problem free. Gaming still a bit of a hit or a miss and I think my particular gfx card (and old 1060) might not be the most compatible. but for everything else it's solid. My laptop is runing W11 but when that finishes it will go to Linux as well. I lucked out and pumped the RAM in it before the prices started to rise. Even more as I bought a thick ol' workstation style Lenovo and it's had free slots for more memory and an MM2 1Tb SSD. If you're stuck with Linux or having issues it's one of the things that AI is very good at helping you with. It's amusing that you can get Copilot to help you build a Linux system to get you away from it.
  7. Most petrol engines in the last 15-20 years accomplish the effect of recirculation by intake and exhaust valve timing overlap rather than external pipes and valves, so not much to cause trouble @Aldfort.
  8. After confirmation screen this seems to be resolved. For a few days i have not received update notification.
  9. Hello all, I am selling my cherished private plate SK17 0DA. Suitable for cars from 2017 onwards. Would prefer to sell it to a Briskoda member (and ideally one in Scotland). £500 You will get the retention certificate and plates in the post if needed. Please PM for further details.

1 month into skoda ownership. I'm Jimmy, called the car Nikita 🤷 Wish I'd got one sooner! 2015 Octavia 2.0tdi 4x4 estate, with a remap so far. Got plenty planned with doing it up, more aesthetically as it is going to used daily and I'm quite liking the MPG. Love my rallying though so it is going to be rally inspired. Only glitch is this thing where the stereo keeps pressing the touchscreen on its on, gets a bit tedious. I've posted in one of the threads about the radios so hopefully get a response on there, it was booked in somewhere local to look at it but maybe it's best to see what's said here first.
  11. Thought i would post mine up few people might know it. My first car bought it from a main dealer a week after passing my test in October 2016 so my first drive in a car on my own was driving it back from Southampton to Glasgow with a couple of stop offs on the way. The car was the perfect spec, 2014 model with Maxidot, Amusden + , Red Seats, Underseat storage, Multi function steering wheel, Rear Parking sensors,ESP and Climate Control. Dealer also fitted Cruise Control, Arm Rest and rubber mats all round Car started off looking like this. From picking it up it was drove straight to Funk Motorsport in London and the fogs/drls were tinted yellow with Lamin-X. Then After that to Awesome GTi in Manchester who put it on the Rolling Road and to my surprise it didn't make the claimed 103bhp and 184 lb fts, It actually made 114.5bhp and 201.8 lbs ft, While there i also picked up a 25mm H&R Rear Anti Roll bar, Audi R8 oil cap , Porsche Coolant cap and TT Jacking points. Then when i got it home i fitted a red TDi badge that i had ordered for the front Next was one of my favourite modifications Nitrogen Gas Bonnet Struts, Keep forgetting others don't have them so i've found a few i've opened the bonnet on my mates montes or vRS's and let them go expecting them to rise up like mine but they just slam back down lol. Then went off to visit a mate to get some pictures with his fabia Then the following day it was off to take part in the Glasgow to Monte Carlo Rally. Then also a quick stop off here on the way back Next fitted was the Autolight kit with a Mk1 Yeti switch so all the lights stay skoda green Next was Briskoda Number plate holders when fitting the fronts i found that the dealer ignored the 4 pre drilled holes and thought they would make 2 more Thankfully they used the holes for the back but the plastic bungs couldn't be screwed in again so had to replace those Also some Skoda tyre caps Next thing was the popular sunglasses holder mod Then Team Heko Wind Deflectors Next was the big thing for me, New wheels, after long consideration i decided on MK1 Octavia vRS Spiders which i'm so glad i went with as they really set off the car. Then the bad luck started First 2 lots of punctures Dead Battery And what i thought was a fuel leak turned out to be the air con leaking Also wrapped the stereo surround Then started the LED Conversation Started off with number plates from Halfords DRLs Twenty20's Autobeam Interior kit Autobeam LED fog lights with Halfords 6k Sidelights Autobeam LED Red Tail lights (only LEDs in the car that bring up a bulb error) give it a nice deep red look. Autobeam chrome indicators (these aren't led but will be changed to led in the future as autobeam have just brought out ones that dont need resistors) Techmac LED Headlights with Lush lightings adaptors Also have currently on the way Autobeam LED red brake lights, white reverse light , Red rear fog light. And the most recent H&R 40mm Lowering Springs Very happy with how it looks and drives just now, In the future it will get Bilstien Shocks, CR177 turbo with an S3 intercooler Darkside Hardpipe kit and hopefully get over the 200bhp mark. Full Modification list Automatic lights with Mk1 Yeti Switch Cruise control Sunglasses holder Arm rest Autobeam Interior LED kit Nitrogen gas bonnet struts Lamin-X fog light tint by Funk Motorsport MK1 Octavia vRS spider alloys Audi R8 oil cap Porsche coolant cap Audi TT Jacking points Team Heko Wind deflectors Briskoda.net number plate holders Halfords LED number plate lights Techmax LED headlights with Lush lightning Adaptors Twenty20 LED DRLs Autobeam LED fogs Halfords LED sidelights Autobeam LED tail lights Autobeam Chrome indicators Autobeam LED Brake lights Autobeam LED Rear Fog Autobeam LED Reverse light H&R 25mm Rear Anti Roll Bar H&R 40mm lowering springs Mintex Fast Road Pads Current Power 115bhp @ 4600rpm 202 ftlbs @1880rpm 0-60mph 9.2 seconds Top speed limited to 117mph 1/4 mile 17.2 @84mph

Hi guys, First-time Skoda owner in Sweden here - just got a 2020 Superb estate hybrid a few weeks ago. I always wanted a station wagon but my wife wanted a small car - but with another recent addition to our family she had to give up on that. Long story short, I got myself an emerald green Skoda Superb iV hybrid from 2020. (and yes, the color was a significant factor in choosing it - I like green and it's a stunning shade) Quite happy with it so far - a bit more km on it than I'd have wanted but the condition is good and service record impeccable. Only issue I've found yet is that the charging flap actuator is stuck in the closed position, but with the flap open. So you can still charge it (probably why the previous owner didn't have it fixed) but it's a mild annoyance. Searching for solutions brought me here - as did pretty much any search for maintenance related issues, so I figured I might as well join. (sad resolution though since it turns out that although the actuator is cheap and easy to swap out, doing so requires removing the whole front of the car!)
  13. I had a 1.0 FR. I was really disappointed with it, but that said, I was also disappointed with the brand new Leon FR I got a week later. Compared to my old 2016 Leon it was worse in every way, aside from the backup camera. To be honest, my main gripe with the Arona isn’t the car itself - it’s the type. It’s no bigger than my parents Ibiza (granted, it is the same car), but yet costs more and is worse to drive! I’d understand it if it was bigger, but it’s actually rather small - especially in the back. Then again, all of that aside, I took their brand new 1 Series out into the country a few weekends ago - 350mm M Sport brakes with four piston calipers, adaptive suspension, and volume controls you can twiddle your finger to. I was so disappointed. Okay, yes, it felt faster than what it is, and it drove nicely, but it was absolutely devoid of any feel and the ride was awful! I know it’s an A to B car, and suits my dad absolutely to a T, but I was just expecting a bit more - especially compared to our old 330i. I’ve no idea what the obsession is with making new cars steering wheels feel like you’re operating the car behind.

well done on finding the problem a nice easy fix in the end 👍that's why I said take a picture of the fuse box before taking any out then you can check easy.
  15. What a shame you don't have any phone signal tomorrow
  16. I reckon an Arona Or a sandero cross over thingy … Stepway?

If it has only done 7k but is 3 year old then I would reckon even with longlife oil it should have been changed at 2 years max. If it was perhaps they didnt fill it correctly. I agree with Pete , top up to max an monitor it carefully. If it took a litre to reach min mark its been running with 3/4 of the correct volume of oil or less. If it hasnt been changed since new then I would get an oil an filter change done ASAP and take it from there. Not sure if the warranty will still be valid if it hasnt been serviced especially an oil change. Alasdair
  19. No mention of any wiper cleverness in the owner manual. Other that the "automatic" rear wipe (configurable in settings) and the "service" position.
  20. Same here, further investigation showed 7 broken wires in the driver's door loom 😂 7?!! Explains a lot, that's this weekends job!
  21. Just been a for a longer drive this lunch time and love it, get little DSG burps now, no doubt my fuel consumption will go down now, also to note for anyone else as @JR RS has said no drone, you hardly notice any difference when cruising along. Well worth the money, will look into some different tips. Spotted Merc CLS which has nice tips which are not the normal square/rectangle style, might be worth a look @travs
  22. Just did the patch on a MEN2_EU_SEGPx_P8010L unit (SEAT Arona), worked flawlessly. In the past I faced a memory corruption issue that happened because the IC didn't fully make contact with the "clamp" pins so I just desoldered the IC to be safe
  23. OK - not an overseas hire but one in the UK for work. Doing some site visits down a lot of country lanes, involving parking on verges etc. on a project where we have been told not to use our own cars - so asked for a manual compact SUV... What did I get...???
  24. Could be linked to imobilser/ignition/steering angle sensor but would have thought car would start and you would have airbag warning and probably a few others etc. Check that all the connectors to ignition/steering wheel etc are connected properly as you may have dislodged something. Also check for blown fuses as well. Alasdair
  25. Have to say this seems sensible: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/756814
  26. I'm thinking my only actual expenditure 'might' be two wheel bolts and a couple of dodgy ol' car mats 😁 (The rest of it would come from my 2018 GTI donor car 👍). Heck, I could have the whole restoration done in five minutes!
  27. Car is back and my inner child is very happy, luckily I need to get some fuel at lunch so the long way to the pump it is. They did have to slightly modify the res delete pipe to fit the exhaust due to a slight bore size difference.
  28. Most tracking places can only be bothered to adjust one tie rod end which means that the road wheels are aligned correctly but the steering wheel ends up offset. You need to find somewhere that does it properly by centring the rack and steering wheel before adjusting both tie rods.
  29. Only problem with that plan is the cost of the 'restoration' would exceed the VED savings, with the break-even timescale possibly being longer than the restored vehicles lifespan. There was a guy who wanted to own the very last Moggy Minor ever constructed, it was built from stock parts and cost (I think) 10 times the OTR price of a factory build!
  30. I was joking. I think they have to be coded by dealer for each seat.
  31. 1.5 tsi dont have egr.. in city driving no issues, i drove it for 4 months only in town, average speed 20km/h but driving sporty, full throttle, and then brake from here and there if it is not wet, will keep GPF regenerate normally. it is not functioning like on diesel. combination full throttle driving and no throttle cleans it best, lean driving clogging it. only what is clogging always are intake ports of carbon deposits from oil fumes.

change oil. 3 years in engine it is long period.
  33. Sounds exactly like my old school garage (sadly retired). Used to pop in and they would put car on ramp and have a look. Very quick and exellent service. They even let me borrow a car when they couldnt get a part same day for no charge. (it was a 20 year old nissan micra but got me home). Alasdair
  34. Yep, so did my old Mondeo and Audi... VW got a lot of criticism for the new infotainment software, it does seem to have been designed by someone who uses a phone but has never driven a car 😁

Only thing to do is fill to a good level then monitor over the next few months. Anything else is guesswork.
  36. That seems fair plus £60/hr is very good these days. Seems like a decent garage who now what they aare doing and also quick service too. Hard to find these days. Alasdair
  37. And the the only electric motor in sight was the starter motor.........

Who had it or where was it before it got that 1 litre of oil. It could be various things up. Previous drivers. Maybe about 1/3rd short of oil is never good for an engins.
  39. It’s a mandatory requirement in mainland Europe. So I’m guessing it’s not bothered to be supplied in territories where it isn’t.

Evening all. Quick update. My bonnet is now open, a very cold, difficult 2 hours, will not bore you all, but if it happens to you, please message me. Dont go under the car or through the wheel arch, impossible. Just wanted to say, there is a junction box, little thin black plastic box attached to the underside of the cover/tray opposite the airbox, held on by two silver clips. The two bonnet cables meet there, one from the release lever, the other from the latch, the latter pops out under stress from a clogged latch or the plastic pops open, combination of both over time. Please zip tie it shut the next time you are under the bonnet! Cannot stress this enough. And clean and grease your latch. Also grease the cable before you zip tie it. Huge design fault by VW., a zip tie would have saved me hours of grief and stress. Looks like below, from a Golf I think. Ours is on the passenger side. Any advice, please ask. Graham.
  42. Skoda Superb Facelift Matrix LED.
  43. Do you have a multimeter, a pair of wire cutters, wire strippers and a crimp tool? If so, this is an easy mod… Use your multimeter to find an unused slot in your fuse board that is ignition-switched. Put your meter into DC voltage mode, put the black probe against a metal part and put the red probe into the top half of each fuse slot. Turn the ignition on and off, and keep looking until you find one that only gives you 12V with the ignition on. Plug a fuse tap into that unused slot. These are available from Halfords. Remove the fuse from the cigarette lighter circuit, and insert the fuse into the “upper” slot in the fuse tap. The output wire from the fuse tap should now be an ignition-switched +12V. Test this with your multimeter. Get a spade connector (also available from Halfords) and crimp one onto the end of the fuse tap’s output wire. Insert the spade into the lower part of the cigarette socket fuse slot. Your cigarette sockets are now receiving power from the ignition-switched circuit instead of the permanently powered circuit.
