  1. Replaced my coolant tank with a new one and topped up with G12evo Thought I’d remove the old silicone bag to see the condition and the bag itself looks perfect from a 2015 coolant tank
  2. Glorious today 😎 Not sure what this represents?
  3. One thing to mention with Smart link, is to use a "decent" usb cable between the phone and car. Personally my car does not have Smart link enabled so not experienced this myself, however I've seen a good few posts mentioning this to be a bit of a weak point. Also I must mention that "live" traffic updates with built in NAV don't work now as the Traffic Master signal used for this was turned off, theres an icon called TMC with a red line through it. It affected other makes too not just VW group cars. Think it was April 2023 when it got stopped.
  4. @Binx1310 and @travs , good call thanks, I’ll post something more proper over the next couple of days 👍 And thanks for the best wishes 😊 New car was going to be an Enyaq…until I saw a screaming lease deal on a BMW i5 Touring, which my new boss told me to go and try, and if I liked it he’d order one! So, on the way is a gangster spec i5 Touring M Sport in black, with black leather and we’re getting the rear windows dark tinted - completely opposite vibe to the Superb 😅 I am going to miss the Superb, as it’s been comfy and reliable…and I’ve sunk a few quid into it in a short space of time, so hopefully someone who appreciates that will buy it!
  5. Thanks paulski, I am new to Skodas so didn't know I could use Smartlink and google maps on my iPhone. I bought a Skoda sd card but I will also try Smart Link - it would be good to have live updates from Google maps sometimes
  6. Hi all, as I said I was away for a week and the sd card - https://www.speedcams.co.uk/shop/skoda-map-sd-card/genuine-5l0-skoda-map-sd-card-32gb-full-europe I bought arrived during that time. I installed it today and am pleased to say the satnav is now working properly. Thanks for all the useful advice. The seller operates a map update service (using the buyers sd card) but I think anyone can download these maps from the Skoda update portal and simply copy them over the previous map on the sd card. The same seller also offers spped cam warnings (presumably as poi's). Does anyone know how to get speed cam warnings without paying?
  7. Agree. Nothing wrong with putting some spec up in case someone is interested. Alternatively putting it in the For Sale forum doesn’t mean you have to commit to any timescales etc. You can easily explain the situation etc. Congrats on the new role
  8. The last time that I replaced the front and rear wiper blades on my wife's 2015 VW Polo, I bought a Bosch "correct parts" or set for the front wipers, and ended up finding that it was cheapest to buy the rear Valeo wiper blade from Valeo directly - which surprised me!
  9. Hi all! I’m Callum from Forbes Automotive. We’ve developed an opensource Haldex Controller that offers the same functionality as the competitors, but only costs £200, not £1,000 like the others on the market. Alternatively… If you don’t want to buy one, then you can visit the GitHub repository - all of the gerbers etc are there to build your own! Forbes Automotive is for enthusiasts, by enthusiasts. We originally based our work off of the amazing Gen1 controller from A Banging Donk. Since then, we’ve managed to reverse engineer the data and get support for Gen1, Gen2 and Gen4 vehicles! We’re also currently developing support for Gen5. For those of you with Haldex equipped cars, if you don’t know how it works - Haldex waits to detect slip from the front wheels before it’ll send any power to the rear. With our controller, YOU decide when (and how much) power goes to the rear. For off roading, you can have it permanently 50/50. For the drag strip, you can put it in FWD mode for a burnout to warm up your tyres, and then switch back to 50/50 for the launch. You can even configure it so that at certain speeds, it gradually reduces what’s sent to the rear, reducing drivetrain drag to give you the best performance. OpenHaldex is being continually updated, and due to the opensource nature, you can help if you’d like to collaborate! You can find OpenHaldex here: https://forbes-automotive.com/products/openhaldex-controller You can also check out https://openhaldex.com to view more about the project and visit the repository on GitHub. You can also check compatibility with your car on the Documentation page where there is a link to a vehicle compatibility checker. Here's a preview of our brand new user interface with version 2.10.0: And a preview of the 'Expert' mode editor to tune your Haldex to just the way you want it: If you’d like to know more about the project - please check the links above or simply ask! You can also check out the Forbes Automotive social media pages - theres loads of posts on there detailing the project with millions of views! (It felt a bit cheeky posting this without making a contribution, so I’ve signed up for freedom and am a Site Sponsor on BRISKODA) I hope some Skoda owners find this useful. It’s a great tool for off roading, track use and at the drag strip. Thanks for taking the time to read and check out the project. I’m happy to answer any questions! List of Skoda vehicles that are currently compatible: Gen1 Haldex:Octavia MK1 (1U) - 4x4 - 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004 Gen2 HaldexAlhambra (7M facelift) - 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 Gen4 HaldexYeti (pre facelift) - 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 Octavia (1Z facelift) - 4x4, Scout, VRS 4x4 - 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 Superb (B6 Type 3T) - 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014
  10. My comment was referring to a discussion I was having about Evri using self employed agents and their own cars etc and were not EV vans in my area. Turns out I was wrong and hence my comment in the post above.🙄
  11. I believe on certain engines the upstream o2 sensor works with ecu and dpf. If its sending false readings it can confuse ecu etc and have read on rare occasion it can trigger same code. I would check its working properly or change it as there not that expensive unlike a new dpf. Alasdair
  12. The question is whether they are on the Phonostar app. Ok I did install the Android at on my Nvidia Shield at the time MartiniB published the file links. Searching under Absolute the station drop down box of suggestions doesnt include Absolute. May be they dont have a carrier deal so it's not on their Internet radio platform of which the Vag logos ride off the back. My theory. You'd have to test with other known missing ones.... The Troc people also say Greatest Hits Radio https://www.trocforums.co.uk/threads/radio-station-logos.4632/ That isnt in the Internet radio station list so I reckon that is the key. A Vag design error of only supporting logos in the Phonostar operation.
  13. I 'think' I have, or rather I have used this logic, I know that the way it was plumbed was that one set of front pistons & the rear were on the same circuit, then the second pair of front pistons on the second circuit. A standard MC pushes the first piston directly from the pushrod, then uses a spring to push the second piston, but has a failsafe that if the first circuit fails the second circuit gets pushed by the pushrod so that is how I have plumbed them in. This all seems to have worked as it should but we will see once we get to MOT time. Thank You Nigel, it's always good to discuss as that fires things into the brain to think about. Hopefully this will assist somebody in the future, I hate to see a question asked, potential solutions offered & then no final confirmation of whether it worked or not. Alan.
  14. If its any help I have been running GT radial tyres FE2 (summer) and my sons got GT radial all season on his Fabia. Both had them on for over a year and excellent tyres in dry and wet. All seaons are a bit more expensive but son likes them and very good in winter. There mid range but last set got discount if I bought online. Worked out at around £60-00 (summer) £70(all season) per tyre fitted. Alasdair
  15. Thanks guys I really appreciate it. 43k miles is really good deal, I was worried of mine reaching 113k miles, if you want to give it a look I can link a thread of my Fabia in an Italian Skoda forum, (you will need to just translate it from the browser settings), I’ve converted it to basically a Fabia full optional, just missing the climatronic and mfd cluster, I’ve found a guide to convert to a climatronic, and still working on the mfd, currently I have a abs 9.0i wating in the garage and next project is a bcm max conversion (from p/n 6r0 to 7e) https://www.skodaclub.it/index.php?topic=20693.0
  16. Sorry - I was exhausted when I posted that. I meant factors like geometry are unlikely to be the cause, since the car is so new. Similarly, I also meant that in the particular car, accelerating like OP did, it wasn’t torque steer. To be honest, I think torque steer is far more of a factor in 150-200bhp FWD cars, as these are all open diff platforms - most stuff above 230bhp has an LSD of some sort. It’s not anything with the braking system, is it? Maybe something with XDS? It’s a bit weird the demo car did it too, though.
  17. 1 point
Yes. They are brand new tyres too so I'm not too keen on ditching them for the 40's. I did wonder this myself but the difference is only a few mm so I dunno. I think it might be the first motor I've driven with electronic steering so maybe I'm not used to it.
  18. What’s the company car? Sticking with Skoda? Might be worth posting a couple of pics and spec to this thread
  19. Update - MOT failed, but only on broken bulb on NS wing mirror! A good day! OK, so need new tyres all round either way. Going for steel rims. I'll do a bit of research to correctly ID rim spec.
  20. 1 point
Hm, that's a strange combination. With the higher sidewall on the rear tires, it will tilt the car slightly (lift the rear). This will definitely change the steering geometry a bit as well. Not sure though whether that is the cause of your problems, but I would advise to test your car with four equal tires to see if that changes anything. Have you ever compared your S2 to another S2, preferably with (almost) the same tire dimension and engine?
  21. Cheers for the new opportunity in life! 😉 And I see you are looking for someone here to take the blame in front of your Dad! 😁 Just kidding ... hope all works out well!
  22. Well done on finding this and sorting it. Unfortunately a familiar story. With those new to old cars or a particular marque or model when they asked about an issue one of the questions would be have new parts been fitted, difficult to know if the car is only recently owned and came with little or no history, as those without experience often assume a new part can't be at fault just because it's new. I always go on to never assume the part fitted is correct or works fully or correctly or is fitted correctly. Which leads me on to did you discover correct plumbing.
  23. 100 years ago someone sat on a horse and cart saw a Model T Ford pull up and said something very similar.
  24. Hopefully just needs new injector seals. I agree with the 1.9tdi. Had a fabia,Seat altea and octavia all with 1.9tdi old school engines with no dpf and less to go wrong. Paid £1800 aprox each and had them for 5 years 160k until dreaded rust became terminal. Still have two sitting for spares and they still run perfectly. Now on a 1.6tdi Octavia mk2 but would swap back tomorow. Alasdair
  25. Hello from not so sunny Carlisle.
  26. Your bio says you have a 2024 Superb. It's nothing like a 280, is it? Someone on here is keen to get his Gen6 Haldex fiddled with... @travs
  27. Okay so spent some more time today going over the brakes, re-bled them again for good measure, did get a tiny bit of air out but nothing to write home about. Then wondered if it could be the rear drums that were not adjusting up giving the long pedal, so took the drums off & put a jubilee clip around the cylinders to prevent the pistons moving, this did not improve the pedal. Slackened the jubilee clip of the OSR & whilst pressing the pedal watched the cylinderit only started to move for the last 25% of the push. I then looked at the Servo to M/C connection, I measured how much of the pushrod was sticking out of the servo, it was about 13mm. I then measured how deep the point of contact would be & that was roughly 23mm which meant the pushrod had to move 10mm before the piston actually starts to move. As a temporary measure I placed a spacer in the bottom of the M/C to take up the slack, it was a bit too much, but then a plate between the servo & M/C got it just about right. This gives me a solid pedal at the start of the press, I then found that the OSR handbrake cable was corroded so that had to be resolved. All this was caused by the difference between a genuine OEM unit which are no longer available & units which are sold as direct replacements from 3rd parties which are not a direct replacement.
  28. Evri is increasing its own corporate fleet of electric vehicles and e-cargo bikes, particularly in London, Bristol, Oxford, and Cambridge.
  29. Yep, very welcome contributions, just what I was hoping for. There's a cbza on ebay with only 43k miles on it that's tempting (123k less than current cbzb). If I can create enough space in my garage to store it for a while I may grab it.
  30. An interesting thread. So helpful from Jack.
  31. Sorted it now, 'her' ashtray light didn't work : "HOW MUCH FOR A BULB??" I took the bulb apart and fitted an led in it's place.. (Drilled through the plastic bulb carrier and put spade connectors on the end of the cable to plug it into the socket.) Luckily, I have a few 5mm 12v white led's laying about! SKODAPARTS want 14.19€ just for this piddly little thing! (You can't see the mounting/plug when it's fitted, so bolleaux to them!)
  32. ^^^ Had to look to see it is a 2.0 TDI.
  33. Thanks for you help with this, I've collected my 2025 Sportline today 😄 (Rubbish photo as its raining!)
  34. Hello @SiWaiting , From top of my head, version 144 was before this OTA kicked in. Cheers
  35. Hey folks, I am returning to Skoda after a hiatus of some 4 years. I started out back in 2012 with an Octavia which I liked but as a 1.6l petrol was a bit underpowered. Made my way to a Yeti in 2016 and absolutely loved that car. It was the Outdoor 2L TDI and was hands down the best car I ever owned. I still regret selling it... And the reason I sold it was to buy a VW camper van - a California - which we enjoyed (despite it being quite a 'fussy' vehicle when it came to the infotainment etc. Family circumstances forced that sale and I tried a BMW 330i for a year before switching to a Mini Clubman JCW. Both he BMW and Clubman were good but lacked something soul wise and the state of the UK roads has made the decision for me to trade in and purchase a pre-loved Scout which I am picking up next week. Very happy to be returning to Skoda! Look forward to getting Scout related questions answered and hopefully answering some myself!
  36. Thank you! I found it fitting to add a list of currently compatible Skoda models to the OP, so that can be found at the bottom of the post. Gen5 Haldex introduces a lot more model variants like the Kodiaq and Karoq. Gen5 is still in development! We've got an Audi RS3 with Gen5 for a test car at the moment. Who said product development couldn't be fun? 😀
  37. Does the OP actually need to use the inbuilt NAv. Amundsen MIB 2 supports Smart link. If it's not activated, it can done for a lot less than dealer costs now. This then allows their mobile phone to be connected and use Google Maps via Android Auto or Apple CarPlay and more apps as well. Just another option to consider.
  38. Not so, it's a card ID code that's unique to the VAG (inc Skoda) SD cards, there is NO extra chip.
  39. Did a lot of cleaning this morning and put it all back together but sadly, still getting rev hang and a some strange idling. I am going to order a new throttle body today and hope that a new throttle position sensor within the body will solve the problem.
