My mum organised her Birthday weekend gathering for the close family and pays for it,

it is her treat to us and she has not been able to do it for the past 3 years,  

23 of us together this time it has been as many as 32 in the past.

lots of help from my sisters. One makes the cakes, presents and cards and much more.

My mum started doing this way back for her 80th birthday and now she is 97.

A very pleasant hour or so with an elderly (widowed a year ago) neighbour chatting about holidays, European travel, and generally ‘putting the world right’. All over a glass of wine, or two, or….

3-4yr ago SWMBO gave up her JCW Mini Coupe because of practicality concerns. She loved that car, it was her brothers from new and she bought it from him as a gift to herself sucessfully running her own business. She's very much missed that car.

 

We always half joked about tracking the car down and buying it back admittedly it wa sa bit rough whe it went needing the wheels refurbed and the paint corrected after gull **** burned the paint.

 

I was scanning autotrader the other week when I spotted, not her car, but a near identical model right down to the options.

Ummed and ahd for about an hour and long story short I bought it without having seen more than a video. It's being sold as approved used mini so some backup there.

 

It was supposed to arrive this afternoon but the delivery guy phoned yesterday and asked if he could drop off last night.

So the car turned up at 10:30pm. And is pretty much mint for a 9yr old car. Bar a few light scratches it's completely original and untouched.

 

It wasn't insured until today so SWMBO has had her first oldish skool drive. She's soo delighted, it's a joy to see.

Seeing this little fellow in the garden again and finally being able to get a picture (distance and camera limitations affect quality unfortunately).

 

 

The squirrel is an albino not a true white and was about 100ft away and  the camera is an 18 year old Canon Powershot G5 5MegaPixel .

Paul Gambaccini isn't too bad...   But Elaine Paige on Sundays is horrendous.

He's been doing the same show for longer than that as he was on Radio One with the same format back in the 1980s.
