the truth about electric cars
Well, if it's anything like the Cybertruck, that will be a no, then. First, it is 8 years since it was first introduced and supposed to be the best thing since sliced bread. In that time, mainstream European truck manufacturers have theirs out, and many are being used in Europe. Secondly, unlike Tesla cars, which were the first to do BEVs, and hence have a strong following in most places of the world, they are very late to the HGV market and hence have very stiff competition on their hands if, and currently it is a big if, they will be able to meet the regulatory demands of the home market.

Superb 2 rear suspension sitting too low with new parts
@andrehj Hi, I've took the car to a different garage this time to try and get things sorted. They only change things in pairs. The garage thats fit the wrong springs and or rear arms was in October and November 2024. Local garages now won't let customers supply their own parts but then some garages are ordering the wrong parts. The springs were from TMS motorspares but I was told they have to be tested to the same compression strength as OEM for like for like physical dimensions. The current garage has ordered two new coil springs from Europarts but they are the exact same length around 370mm At this moment no one can tell me what colour code was originally on the car. TMS only list 2 springs for this model and have only one of the 2 in stock. The pair they have in stock are different to the ones thats currently on my car that they've previousy supplied and are too short. The replacements are the same length. @Carlston I've signed up to the skoda parts link you've sent but need to figure it out better as it only allows one free garage search. Both rear arms were changed in November 2024. The coil springs were changed in October and then November 2024. The cars far too low so the has to be an issue with the springs, but how would that explain the underside of the chassis and rear arms catching on speed bumps? Does this mean springs and arms are wrong? I'll show this thread to the current garage in the morning.

Visually etc. My car of the day -today
Maybe not in the true spirit of this thread, but it was canny. On our way up to RHS Wisley today on the M23, here's Mrs Gaz in her flash red Polo GTI, overtaking a silver Polo GTI - both GY65 reg. no.'s: Near relatives, if not siblings 😁 G

Broken heater pipe connector leaking coolant, part number?
Driving to Dover and the connector for the heater pipe has managed to completely fail and leak coolant everywhere. RAC have managed a roadside fix which should last a while, but can anyone help with this part number? Ferry to France first thing tomorrow so got to hope the bodge holds until we can get it home and to a garage 😬

It'll likely not be. Legal here or in a number of EU countries due to visibility issues (or lack of) as far as I can tell. It certainly wouldn't be allowed in London and I doubt many FORS operators will be interested.

Accelerate problem
Hi all. I have problem with my Enyaq. When I try to accelerate the vehicle chokes and then stutters, the lights turn red. And the vehicle does not move. When I accelerate gradually the vehicle moves well. The phenomenon only appears when I immediately press the accelerator pedal. The fault that appears at address 51 "Control unit did not Shot down properly" Does anyone know of such a phenomenon?

the truth about electric cars
Coming back to that EV fire blanket for moment, I just discovered this footage from StatcheD Training of a demo / test of a EV fire blanket done in the US which does indeed show the hazard I mentioned about removing them once used. An interesting point he makes in the video is that the use of a fire blanket is actually meant for and is best used on adjacent vehicles, especially when at a charging hub, as the fire blanket would then greatly reduce the collateral damage to other vehicles from sideways jets of fire from a battery in thermal runaway. That makes me wonder just how they do that, when by the time the FF arrive on scene, the adjacent cars will have already been subjected to those flames and also involved. Unless, of course, those standalone fire barriers shown in the video towards the end are already in place? Has anyone ever seen any of these in use at hubs?

Fabia MK3 fitted car mats perfect for a Monte Carlo
Hi, I recently ordered a set if fitted mats for my daughters Monte Carlo from CarMats.co.uk, it wasn’t until I doubled checked the invoice and realised that some how I’d managed to order them for the Mk3 instead of the Mk2 that she owns 🤦♂️. Unfortunately I can’t return them as they are personalised, which is totally understandable. As she has a Monte Carlo I ordered the set of mats with the name Monte on them which is how he’s affectionately known. So I have them up for sale. They’re the £50 set if you see them on their website. I’m looking for £30 + post if anyone is interested

Skoda 2024 L&K 4x4 wheel alignment
Good advice above. Best thing for this is to find a good local tyre specialist with Hunter system who know what they are doing. Some of them will deal with local motorsport enthusiasts which can be a sign that they have a good reputation. How often you need to do it depends on how many potholes etc you hit! My local place only charge £50 if you're getting it done when buying tyres, so given the price of tyre these days it's probably worth doing if it avoids the risk of ruining a set of tyres due to bad settings.

the truth about electric cars
@Evolution13 I get it that it should be on a recall, but I was trying to point out that if people were to submit their cars earlier for servicing rather than, in some cases, penny-pinching, then maybe faults like that Mercedes with the £6,000 cost for a replacement electric motor might be avoided. I say 'penny-pinching' because it seems that some regard EVs as offering much cheapness and then go about squeezing as much more cheapness of ownership as is humanly possible. On the other hand, you have the more mechanically sympathetic owners of cars who never attempt to be first away from the traffic lights or use excessive acceleration and put their cars (as is the case with lots of ICE owners) in for oil changes, etc., well before the makers' recommended schedules. They also tend to catch the early warning signs of other problems before they become a major source of aggravation.

Fabia Mk3 1.0 TSI 110HP Spring like noise coming from brake pedal
Sorry for the late reply. At first there was air in the system but after i bled it there was none left, tough the air might have been present because i might have loosen the bleed valve a bit too much for the first bleed where i used an air compressor, the second time i used the trusty 2 person method cand properly loosened the valve. I have a recording in which u can faintly hear the spring sound.
