TIRE
does anybody use different tire than goodyear? I find the factory Goodyear EfficientGrip too stiff — every road imperfection is felt very clearly through the car. It’s a homologated tire, marked AO, meaning Audi Original. Has anyone switched to a different type of tire? Which one worked well for you? I tried the Toyo Proxes Comfort. It was indeed more comfortable, but at higher speeds it caused a noticeable side-to-side vibration through the steering wheel, so I switched back to the Goodyears. However, they’re not very comfortable. Does anyone else find that road bumps and imperfections are felt this strongly with the Scala?

VCDS - OCTAVIA 3 vRS FL - Fog Lights with High Beam Lights
I bought an Octavia 3 FL with the following feature already coded (high beams also turn on with the fog lights). Could someone tell me how to code it so that the fog lights don’t turn on? P.S. I have LED headlights, not sure if it matters

Built in Sat Nav and Post Codes
I don't use the in-built sat-nav as I prefer Google Maps. However I've read the Karoq manual section on the sat-nav & there is no mention of being able to enter post codes. When I bought the car I tried the sat-nav & entered a post code because I was used to being able to do that on previous sat-nav systems I've used - as I expected it was accepted.

Rear windscreen washer hose
To answer my own question I actually found the part number attached to the tubing. Of course being part of the VW group things are never simple. You cannot buy just the tube as it comes with the wiring for the rear hatch attached to it so just the £150 when all that was required was a metre of tubing. 5mm clear rubber tube was purchased for a couple of quid and job done. Pity you have to remove 4 trim panels to be able to drop the roof lining enough to thread the new tube through.

the truth about electric cars
BYD showing its new ETT electric 44 tonne, 1000 hp and charging at 1.5 MWs, truck to compete with the TESLA semi, only 40 tonne, being launched in to Europe and compete with Mercedes Electric trucks already on sale.

A bit of a journey, although not too far (I travelled further to see him) But I'd highly recommend giving @East_Yorkshire_Retrofits a shout. He can do everything we've talked about here, and much more.

Skoda Fabia mk4 2022 Lane Assist
Your 2022 Fabia should have been originally delivered with a fairly slim booklet-format Owner's Manual with an 'issue date' on the outside of its rear cover. The booklet Manual for my own 2024 UK-registered Fabia SE L car has the issue-date of 06.2023 on its rear cover and, when referring to the relevant online digital Manual, the 06.2023 reference allows me to choose the relevant file. For the Fabia, Skoda has used a 2-pronged approach for Owner's Manuals, with 'essential' advice being in the booklet and the same advice plus more complex information being in the digital Manual. When a particular subject is dealt with only in the digital Manual, this is stated in the booklet Manual. LANE ASSIST is covered in its entirety in the booklet Manual (Pages 108/109 in my car's booklet) and how to turn the steering-wheel vibrations ON/OFF is shown in the Settings section (Activating/deactivating the steering wheel vibrations). Turning the steering-wheel vibrations ON/OFF must be carried out using the car's infotainment display-screen's Lane Assist menu. This Skoda Fabia video is about Lane Assist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RoktYazaDso It shows a car that has an Amundsen display-screen (as fitted to my own car) where the Lane Assist menu looks like this A green tick in the Steering wheel vibration 'box' indicates that vibration has been turned ON. Unticking the box will turn steering-wheel vibration OFF and the chosen setting (green tick=ON, no tick=OFF) is then saved until that setting is deliberately altered. Turning OFF the vibrations will not turn OFF Lane Assist, that will still enable automatically each time the car's ignition is switched on. I turn OFF Lane Assist before driving my Fabia, but, when I occasionally forget to do this, I can't say I find the system's corrective operation particularly intrusive or 'strong'. The Owner's Manual says "The system is designed primarily for driving on the motorway", but on twisty rural roads It's just an irritation that I don't want. (And I definitely don't want additional xxxxxx steering-wheel vibrations!!!)

The "Definitely Not a Project" Project Thread
Fitted the headlight with the new DRL parts. Looks much better now but is brighter than the other one, so I’m looking for a spare right headlight to do the same on that side.

Discs do not fail because they're lipped. Overall thickness, visible corrosion on disc surface, runout, cracking (and a few more reasons) are valid reasons to change - but your disc will start corroding at the edge the moment they're installed. 25K quite a low mileage for discs and pads but you may be an "energetic" driver or parked too close to the sea. Air-con service pretty pointless waste of money. If it works, it works; maybe worth an independent air-con specialist checking and refilling your system. They will certainly be better at it than the dealer. Strange gurglings or weak performance normal clues it needs looking at. If you survived this summer it's fine. If this is Carlisle I have had issues in the past with them. They do not ring back and there have been trust issues in the past with them. I even had the service manager ring up and apologise and state the technician in question had been "let go". Find a local independent! Full dealer service history not important as long as you have an invoice trail of work carried out. PS you are mistaken if you think VAG are that bothered about rolling out software updates for a 5 year old car.

Oil temp while towing - help please
Have to say I am pretty disappointed to have to add all this additional stuff on this car to get it to do what other cars of similar power and size do without. I will be asking any vw / Skoda etc cars that tow about their experiences - wonder if all have had to bite the bullet if not factory towbar ordered?

Thankyou for your replies. I didn't know that the pump should run on opening the drivers door. I shall check at the weekend when I get home.

Independents can have Licensed VW Equipment and do Software Updates and keep the Service Record available. Even do Warranty work in some cases. You just need to know who and where they are. Many have Ex VW Group master techs who want return customers and are giving a damn while many Franchised Dealership / Motor Groups could not. You have a Service History of many things never done or even looked at.

Steering-wheel control of phone?
Apologies if this has been covered before. Mine is 2021 Scala SE L, with 2-spoke steering wheel. My previous Skoda had buttons on the wheel to control of starting or ending phone calls, but on my Scala the only option seems to be the screen. Is there a way of using wheel buttons? Thanks

Dealer Or No Dealer?
Find a decent VAG Indie. I wouldn't trust a dealer as far as I can throw them. I've been sold a crash-damaged car, and lied to more times than I can count. You're paying more money for garbage!
