  3. My late-2023-built Fabia M4 SE L model has LED headlights and the rear foglight, reversing-light and number-plate lights are also LED units. My car's only exterior lights that have 'traditional' halogen bulbs are the rear brake, position and indicator lights (and I carry spare bulbs for those) and, when the Mk4's specification was revised (in 2025?), I believe those lights also became LEDs as standard. Realistically, if any of a Fabia Mk4's LED lights stops working, unless the cause is something simple (eg. a blown fuse) and not the light-unit itself, there's nothing that the driver will be able to do to 'cure' the problem - and that's also likely to be true if a member of the AA, RAC etc. is called out. And, even if an obsessively pessimistic owner carried a full set of spare LED light-units, fitting replacements at the roadside probably would not be practicable.
  4. Can't believe they've written it off for that level of damage - but then again I probably can as the admin and inflated repair costs charged to insurance companies by body shops will outweigh what they'll pay you less what they'll get back selling it on as damaged repairable. Having said that a local bodyshop would likely fix that fairly easily...

  6. If you have led lights fitted to your, for instance, Fabia 4 and the lights go out, what do you do? what spares can you carry and fit? or is it a call the motoring organisations for help? I suddenly thought of this and realised I had not got a clue!!
  7. The wife's Rover 25 turned 36000 yesterday. Unfortunately, she missed it. She was a mile from home.
  8. I have had the pcv replaced by a garage when the original broke around 6 years ago. The current valve appears to be in one piece but replacing it, I thought would be a good idea to prevent future problems. As the stem is barbed will it break if I pulled to remove it or will it slide out of rocker cover?
  9. Thanks - I do 15k miles per year, and my company give me the bare minimum expenses wise (13p/mile for my 1.5 hybrid), so a 2 litre tsi isn't suitable. Wish it was, but......
  10. May be work looking at Second Gears - www.secondgears.co.uk
  11. If village data is missing from the map then no firmware update will help.
  12. I have a 2025 kodiak it went in for a repair as water was leaking in through the light bar. its leaking again and booked in . Anyone else have any problems with water ingressing through the tail gate ( no pun intended)
  13. samdylan1 started following tail gate leak
  14. I was told from the garage when they did the sensor that the dual fly mass and rear main oil seal (where the reluctor ring is I believe?) looked fine. So I think it’s unlikely it is that. I’ll try having a look at the relay. Is there any chance that it could be that the ECU is causing the issues?
  15. It's the official way & doesn't damage anything. 😉

  19. I got a decent price for my folks fabia. Even the insurance guy was surprised at how much. He did say that they seem to hold there value. £18500 I suppose isnt too bad but wish they would pay you for the inconvience of looking for another one plus all the hassle. We got a courtesy car when my folks was damaged but when it was written off we had to give it back in 3 days so had to find another quickly. Hope you find something as nice. Did spot this on here a few days ago https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202610146991152?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios-app Alasdair
  20. that's because using the key blade forces the cover off damaging the catch. Using a screwdriver actually releases the catch properly and so doesnt damage it

  22. Indeed, i had an A6 written off with less damage. I fear the damage on mine is structural - wheel to wheel at even 20mph can be catastrophic. Both shocks would need replacing as well, I guess, a Vega 19" - what are they new - £1k? All adds up. I've been given £18500 as the value, and i have GAP, so not too out of pocket.
  23. Cost of repairing cars these days is mad. Had similar with my folks fabia. Damage wasnt that bad mainly front wing and drivers door etc and no structural but got written off. Had another with a volvo 940 that someone reversed into rear door and panel. Again they wanted to right it off or give me a so called cash adjustment ?? I dug my heals in and pointed out that it was repairable. I had just spent £700 on it and as I wasn't even in car at the time so wanted it repaired. Surpisingly the asessor agreed and they repaired damage plus gave me a courtesy car. Chances are someone will buy it and fix it. Alasdair
  24. I was trying to get to the road in which I'm stood to take the image, note the position of my offside front wheel in relation to the kerb - I couldn't get any further over to the left in my approach. The guy in the van was heading towards me and just pulled straight into me. The insurance has said it's a write off and I couldn't take the salvage anyway - I need my car for work and don't have the time or energy to fix it.
  25. No need for screwdrivers, which is probably as well given you're unlikely to have one in your pocket if the battery suddenly fails. Release the emergency key & withdraw just enough until the black plastic clears the case. Then with the fob in your left hand, gripped between thumb & knuckle of the forefinger (thumb under the key to brace), grip the key by the plastic part in the same way. Then exert a snapping motion upwards on the key & the blade will pop the cover off. As I said originally, harder the first time but easier thereafter.
  26. What on earth happened? Are you sure that it is written off
  27. Is the control unit still responding via diagnostics? If not, buy an OEM part.
  28. I have just loaded the 26/27 version and still no villages. Does anyone know if this can be fixed with a firmware update to the Amundsen unit?
  29. AliExpress kit ad many other users bought
