  2. I went directly to the Wheel Shop in Manchester for my spare wheel and tools. Very helpful and delivered in a couple of days.
  3. Quick update: I'd had the sense to back up the old map files on the Skoda SD card. I formatted the SD card to FAT32 and put/copied them back onto the card. Then I deleted the two files the Mac seems to have added. I put it back in the unit and I have maps back, even if well out of date and limited to UK and parts of Europe. They will do for now - but I still need to get this thing updated and new maps installed. If there is a Firmware update and a 'patch' that will get round some of these issues, I would be very grateful for the information on how to do that.
  4. Where the door wiring loom passes from door to A pillar is definitely a know cause of door related electrical problems and is usually only a matter of time before continual flexing of the drivers door loom (which obvious gets used more than other doors, except I guess in a taxi) causes a wire to break and give problems. Mine went at 93K miles at the start of COVID. Just shut off main speaker in driver's door (initially thought I'd gone deaf in right ear :-) but depending on wire that breaks, can affect any door as I believe main module for controlling all doors lives in that door. There is a design flaw in original door looms where the wires are slightly too short and hence flex excessively / kink rather than bending smoothly. So if one wire has broken, very good chance others are not far behind. Hence, rather that face a future of playing whack a mole chasing ongoing breakages and faults, had complete new door loom fitted. The new door looms have been redesigned with slightly longer wires to overcome the known problem so in theory should last life of the car, I've certainly done another 88K since then without further problems so fingers crossed the redesign has worked. You can buy repair looms to splice into loom just before it leaves the door which in theory fixes all wires in one and you essentially end up with the redesigned loom. But a lot of effort to solder all those wires and so makes sense to me that once you have the door opened up that you do the job properly and replace complete loom as a single plug and play operation. Before you do anything though, recommend you get the car scanned to get full list of fault codes as whilst the door loom looks favourite here, there could be other issues at play (e.g. genuinely faulty control module).
  5. How? Cairus: I need more information, a drip-feed, a link to something that explains in terms clear enough for an idiot. I do not even seem to now have an SD card that the system will read, let alone load with a firmware update. Even if I did, where is that firmware?

  7. Dear Experts , Can somebody please share good Fabia mk2 Repair Manual to open the panels from inside boot to access the wirirng of Fuel Filler Flap for mk2 fabia 2014. Thanks Kind Regards
  8. I have an annoying metallic rattle which I have eventually traced to the boot catch. (This was finally confirmed by driving with the boot lid held partially open by a pillow – rattle eliminated!). Although the boot lid seems to close tightly on the rubbers, and there is no play evident in either the locking mechanism or the lower striker plate, there is this persistent rattle. Has anyone else had this problem, and might this be rectified simply by adjusting the striker plate? T.I.A. Barry.
  9. Dear Experts , Please share if you have any experience for compatibility of headlight, mine looks like SPECIAL EDITION black inside OEM number 5j2941017F /5J2941018F but I want to change to 5j2941017j Or 5J2 941 017 D. (Fabia Mk2 2014 Monte Carlo 1.2 petrol 5j) Any thoughts please ? Thanks Kind Regards
  10. Got it. Hope these help: Eerrrrrr! Excuse all the dust. Need hoover
  11. If the K unit is really meant for the Kamiq/Scala, that could explain the black screen. I’d double-check the exact compatibility before replacing or modifying anything else.

  16. Dear Experts , Please advice the best approach to investigate the struck Fuel Filler Flap for Skoda fabia mk2 . Possibly cause : Fuel Filler Flap actuator/motor is faulty Wirirng is broken any where from BCM to Fuel Filler Flap Door actuator is faulty ( but possibility chances are low since all doors/boot locking/unlocking mechanism works perfectly fine with FOB or mechanically) Possibly approach to idnetify the main issue Access the Fuel Filler Flap wiring connector after removing Wheel liner and check if it is getting required pulse when lock /unlock has been initiated. ( Any body have experience??) Remove panel inside boot , access it and check the same wirirng ( Any body have experience??) It may be difficult to get voltage info going to Fuel Filler Flap from BCM. Please advice best approach to open struck Fuel Filler Flap. Many thanks regards
  17. Has anyone fitted a towbar to their Enyak and can offer some advice. I’m not sure my car has the preparation kit from factory. Would you recommend Skoda or an independent kit and would there be coding issues? Thanks

  22. Dear Team , All sorted . Great learning it took some time but I feel have built up good knowdgle for airbags related wirirng , connectors and about seatbelt tensioner etc. Always grateful to Pete @Breezy_Pete for his timely and invaluable guidance, he had kindly provided all necessary material and support to accomplish the task, without his support I would have not dare to start the project. Please DM me anytime should you need any knowledge on electrical related to AIRBAGS. It is NOT rocket science but need lot of patience and time. I have faced challenges at multiple stages but finally had happy ending. thanks Kind regards

  26. So many new and nearly new and hardly used EV bargains about though. Cars cheap as chips. Cost to Public charge is high or pretty much as fuelling an ICE costs. Home charging is no place near the cost of liquid fuel, but there is a charger to pay for. Unless like me you use a 3 pin plug cable. eg, 350 miles for £8.00 or so while Petrol or Diesel @ £8 a gallon or so might take you 35-60 miles.
  27. Bad maintenance and high mileage, sport driving style increase wear of piston and rings and engine consumes oil. too much oil in exhaust dpf cant burn and get clogged. EGR also have lifetime, and egr pipes get clogged. i hope you didnt pay car much.
