Octavia Elegance 1.4 TSI - Very interested - Advice needed
@Warrior193 yeah I guess I’m sticking to the fab for a while longer. Shame really I did want to celebrate passing my probation for my new job. But I’m going Egypt for my birthday this year so I’ll just enjoy that a bit harder with my lil lady. i did explain insurers will ask for MOT after car is written off regardless if it had a valid one before the accident. And true out there is the same Spec but with a seller that doesn’t have to omit any details. and I’ve had a look at the link and explained my offer further so let’s see. MOT expires in November anyway.

Which Octavia Scout would you choose?
Is there a proper full Service History for the Ex NHS car? At least 2 Haldex Services, Annual or sooner oil changes, brake fluid done at least twice etc etc.

I’ve moved this to mk3, as I think the questions are mostly about the 2019 car.

Fuel Tank Cap Replacement Seal
Seal came today. Really easy fit, just need something to hook the old seal out. The old seal was quite compressed, i think it stopped clicking as well when you tighten the cap up. It clicks again now. £3.25 delivered, much better than the £64 Skoda quoted to just change the seal... Pic is the old one, the cracks are quite obvious once you get it in the light.

Rear propshaft coupling
Common on totally standard Yeti,s with Haldex. Much depends on age rather than miles covered and location location location as in weather, salted roads. Rusty Coupling, also cracking rubber. But often the obvious cracking is not an issue.

It sounds as if you have made the best decision - plenty of genuine vehicles out there. Not important now and something I missed originally - did this vehicle have high-intensity (HID or LED) headlights? IIRC missing HL washers is very likely an MOT failure.

Rear propshaft coupling
Forgot to ask, if this is more common on cars with stage 1 or higher, or does this also concern stock version as well in same ratio?

How To Replace Cabin Filter
Following the detailed guidance on utube. I successfully dislodged the right plastic scuttle enough to get my hand in and removed the cabin filter and it’s. Frame. Replaced the filter the correct way into the frame. Then after a bit of blood, sweat and swearing I have managed to fit the filter and frame in place. Re seated the plastic scuttle . However the top rubber element of the scuttle being over 20 years old has perished. Do I need to apply something to replace the seal it made against the windscreen? If so what?

Silencing the loud spoken traffic congestion warnings
Thanks, MikeI... I only have one "page" of apps, and it only has three items on it (Sound, Laura and Phone). There's no swiping in either direction, and no sign of a Traffication app. Thank you, too, Rifleman. I have the "MySkoda" app (8.15.0), and there's no "Paid Services" item under Profile, (or anywhere else in the App) It remains a mystery to me. best, M.

Recirculating Button not working
Well if you’re going to remove the bilsteins before selling it I’ll have them! 😜

Recirculating Button not working
I think that this one is just not meant to be, come to realise that these feel better when fully loaded etc, must be how the rake is other wise I feel the rear is always light but its more stable now with the Bilsteins

Recirculating Button not working
That’s a shame as the cars are great. Bristos on the other hand, not so much!

It's Ali from south coast Hants, UK signing on!
I should probably add, the Fabia is our first Skoda. I've flirted with the idea of a Skoda for years, never quite pulling the plug. in 2003 I was looking at various new at the time cars including Seat Leon, Octavia vRS, Honda Accord etc thanks to my company giving me a car allowance. I was going to give the vRS a go, but the Sales droid was the most hateful person in existence, essentially telling me to do one rather than let me try a vRS out. I ended up buying a MG ZS instead. First Skoda but not first VAG car... I like the Idea of VAG cars but never seem to like ACTUAL VW's... the car replaced in the above car buying round was an Audi A4 Mk1 and nearly bought a MK IV golf TDI PD 130 in that hunt, but again, there was just something I didn't like about the Mk IV. and finally, my first ever car was a facelift MK 1 Polo in ALMOST the same colour as the Fabia (except considerably paler in fact VAG technically sold the colour as a silver - and the paint code usually came back as an actual silver - Silber Grau - despite it should have been Silber Gruen. but i don't think VAG knew what consistency was in the 80's/90's 😂) but at any rate I find it amusing that the Fabia is essentially a Polo, in almost the same colour as my old Mk 1.5, and in all likelyhood, my son will learn to drive in it, if not have it as his first car when the time comes... Assuming cars that old haven't been chased off the roads altogether by then!

Changing the Superb 18' Service Interval value
Hello, For some time now, I have been trying to change the service interval on my Superb from 15,000 km to 10,000 km. The car displays the Service Reminder Status on both the infotainment system and the instrument cluster whenever a value other than 15,000 km is configured, regardless of whether the warning value is set to Warning Off. I have spent quite some time experimenting with different combinations of the maximum and minimum parameter values in ESI, SIA, and FIX, as well as combinations such as Good Oil and Poor Oil, in an attempt to change the service interval type from flexible to fixed. The reset button for the service intervals on the instrument cluster automatically changes the oil setting to Poor Oil, but the reminder still appears when starting or switching off the vehicle. I even tried performing the reset with the hazard lights switched on. The reminder only disappears when the service interval is set back to 15,000 km and appears when is close to 200 km. What are the correct steps to configure a 10,000 km service interval and a reminder for 200km left till service, and where am I going wrong with the parameter combinations? Best regards,

@Warrior193 private seller I think they’ve picked it up directly from salvage. Had a family/ local friend fix it up and done a semi pro job. Now are wanting a different car / change of kind and want to sell it on. I’ve offered £3600 they countered £4k. 4750 -20% (Cat N) - 200 for brakes and bumper inconvenience. I mentioned the mismatched front bumper (missing headlight washers), front brakes needing done soon. And MOT due in just November. Also that cars are required to have a new MOT once written off regardless of Category. But seems like she won’t budge so I’ll possibly have to walk away. Sometimes it’s better to put it on black than trust a stranger in the marketplace that wasn’t being honest from the start. I learnt this from when my 1991 mr2 timing crapped out and cost me 3.7k in total when I was 24. Saddest day of my life at that point.
