  1. I see your Sportline Plus and raise you one in the sunshine, awesome colour
  2. Collecting this on Saturday. Sportline plus.
  3. So after almost 9 weeks since I've placed order my new cat-back system has arrived from Germany. It's getting fitted on Saturday so there will be plenty of evidence both in video and picture form😎😈 also got certificate with it to say it's EU approved sport exhaust😛

It is a vehicle that means a driver will need to adhere to traffic laws and NSL's. No undertaking or sneaking about incognito. Not a vehicle for anyone having an extra marital affair or that likes a bit of dogging. Perfect to load the roof with bikes and tag on to the tail of the convoy during the Tour of Britain.
  5. Seems that KMH-MPH is able to get me out of this mess! They have what is needed! Thank you RickT!!!
  6. You dont have to, but a yearly oil and filter is probably the cheapest preventative maintenance you can do to an engine. you can get oil and filter cheaply, use a pella oil sucker rather than bothering with the sump plug, filter no problem to change I still do my land cruiser every year at 22 years old.
  7. Thanks, this is really helpful. Do you happen to have the reference doument for this schedule? I've been on the Skoda website and all I could find and a basic infographic which didn't quite corrolate with this, so I'd like to be able reference something when I speak with the dealer. Edit: Sorry, the infographic does align... I was reading it incorrectly!

  9. So much for the 17" Avus... Failed homologation, fronts are outside the car silhuette, car is basically illegal to drive with them. After much contemplating what to do, fit 225 tyres, do camber adjustment, extend the flares, even mill down the rims - in the end got rid of them (made good profit lol) and found a great deal on original 16" Ride wheels with Pirellis P7 205/55R16 already fitted, great condition of tyres and rims. Saved myself a ton of time and nerves. Weight of the set is 16.9 kg, exactly the same as 15" steel rims and tyres. Unlike horridly heavy 22.4 kg 17's. The initial turn in and car wobbliness was better on the 17's, everything else is better on 16's, especially acceleration (even grip, but probably due to good summer tyres unlike dead winters on 235). Now I'm back at my sleeper roots, the car looks just so natural, clean and calm, I look at it quite often I also took a video of 3rd gear acceleration, it's just insane IMO. Can't really tell from shaky video but I put numbers below, roughly ~4s 80-120 km/h. Thats well in GTI territory, if not better.
  10. Robjon: The water pump on my Yeti failed last month at roughly 45,000 miles / 5 yearsish. From subsequent reading it appears that premature failure of VW pumps is not uncommon - or in my opinion acceptable. (Also see my recent thread on Coolants)
  11. A few photos from this evening's walk...........
  12. You are spending in the region of £20k on a car and are arguing over an extra £300! Even considering rejecting the car! Do you think you can repeat the purchase with the cheaper spare at the same or better money? Would be surprised. I suspect you cut a very good deal on the purchase and hence why the dealer a) won't absorb the increase and b) is happy to cancel as they will no doubt find it more profitable to have it in stock to sell at a better price than the deal with you. Pay the money and get the car you wanted to enjoy now.
  13. Heres one from me as well
  14. Well on the day of her 17th birthday my daughter picked up her present. She is VERY happy and so am I. It drives like a dream, very impressed with it, quiet and comfy even it motorway speeds.
  15. Oh right yep no problem sure thing you could give it a shot maybe get a cutout and photoshop to see how itll look first up to you really if hou go ahead tho send some pics!
  16. There's no right or wrong answer here, it just seemed easier to me to route through the headlining and get to the gasket and loom point leading to the boot

It's the old tdi it's not pd all glow plugs are brand new .it's the smoke you get when your trying to start a diesel and you don't give the glow plugs longs enough to glow once it's warm it fires every time perfect.
  18. I'm running 1.5 bar, your exhaust will be fine, RTMG are based in Greece
  19. My first post here, and english is not my native. I have finally managed to install the Sinosmart reversing camera on my Octavia mk3 MY2015 (nickname: brownie). The hardest part was the cabling to the head unit, but figured out somehow. The other one was the factory release switch, where I could use a third arm for the removal. The image quality is not the greatest, as others already noted, but it works fine (not sure now for how long) as well as the dynamic trajectory. The supplied tool for the radio removal is a crap, so be careful ! Mine has stucked into the head unit and it took me at least two hours to remove it... Anyway enough of the complaints, here are some distance check at the green and the red line. The green distance is about ~1m (~3ft), the red is about .5-.6m (<2ft), which I think good enough.
  20. If you stop they might show a banner? But I can't say I've noticed one recently. Maybe they don't work in Android auto 🤣
  21. If no one answers, do a couple of quick checks. Find out the head number, if it doesn't end in a letter then be afraid and check to see if you can change the units on the SatNav and Speedo. The dodgy ones have SatNav defaulted to Km and you can't change the speedo to show kmh. Oh and check the VIN plate to make sure it doesn't read 0 for GTW - if it does, you can't fit a towbar. Whilst the spec on first editions, especially those as ex demo with lots of bells and whistle, there are many with issues....I'm in the process of returning mine and I doubt, for the money I paid, I'll be able to get an issue free equivalent spec.
  22. Final update from me. Dealer still swears that at the time of ordering the car showed at 150g /KM. I wonder if the 19inch wheels the SEL seems to have come with as standard for some of 2020 is the culprit; the 18 inch wheels that were standard when I ordered are +1g in emissions over the 19's. Anyway, who knows. She's agreed to my suggestion to cover the cost of the 2 service package I was lined up to take anyway. Looking forward to my new Karoq! Thanks everyone.

Hope it wasn’t too rough on the tongue!
  24. I've just bought bilstein B4 shocks 238978 and 238988....I got them from Eurocarparts for 780 for 4. The 988 part is not listed for mine on the bilstein site (7520 listed) It used to be listed for the 110kw superb but now 7520 is listed for both 110 and 140 kw. I've checked with Eurocarparts and larkspeed and both say the 988 is ok for my 140 kw 4*4 estate. Not sure why they would be different. Is it different codes for the same thing? Anyway getting them installed tomorrow and will report what happens. I'm hoping the suspension will be less bouncy in comfort and less noisy overall. I went for B4 rather than b6 as I've seen reports that b6 may render sports mode too harsh in DCC and bilstein B4 is firmer than OEM anyway. Any comments on the code differences welcomed.
  25. As well to look to see if it is obvious where there was a stick on balance weight and now there is not now. Also check the wheel bolts for tightness. Check the tyre walls on the inside of the car, ie the other sidewalls from the outside ones for bulges. ? While at it have the tyre pressures been checked recently and the TPMS reset?
  26. Thanks for that item reference! What makes the Alhambra springs better for the job, in your opinion?
  27. I agree. Based on the information you've kindly pointed me towards, I don't think this car does have overdue items if running on this 'variable' schedule. I'm just keen to clarify the position so I better understand what's what. The neuances of which DSG is installed and their history is something that I've only really come across today as, aside from a few months with a 2010 Octavia, I've had Fords, a Honda and a BMW for the last 20 years. I'm not a really car enthusiast nor do I work in the auto trade... Just a bloke trying to make sure he doesn't make a bad choice!

It used to be done on head bolts that were torqued normally but not with angled tightened bolts.
  29. The PS4 I got fitted last year were £99 each; fitted. Think they still are on black circles. I wouldn’t call that expensive.
  30. The best bet would be to scour salvage yards for crash damaged cars.
  31. You could try and haggle in a free service, something that worth a chunk of the extra £335 but no real cost to the dealer.

hello Chris. Just to let you know my car has arrived at the port of Grimbsy, the sales man has lefT the main agents now. regards Bill
  33. I wouldn't want to fall out with him over this subject, but this isn't a wrong or right, and this technically isn't anything to do with the motor trade in general, this is a modification to a vehicle regarding the swapping of a axle beam for the benefit of a disc brakes on the rear. To put someone down for wanting to do said modification isn't what I really want to see on a thread I've started, or in this forum really, there's no need for it. If it's something he doesn't agree with he that's fine, but DieselMonte only wanted to know whether or not the modification was possible, not whether or not he agreed with doing said modification. He may have to suffer a lot of fools, but I couldn't see anything foolish which he'd said.
  34. Sounds like sawtooth / castellated tyre wear on the rear. It's relatively common on these, it can be solved by always putting the new rubber on the rear and moving the rears forward
  35. I feel exactly the same with mine to be honest As of when I feel the need to switch! I will look at a Superb Sportline estate or maybe a Golf R estate (7.5) Have looked around but not in a major rush.
  36. The chassis mount is here at the top of the picture.
  37. I have a 2020 Scala 1.0 115ps DSG. It is a solid all-round car and definitely punches above its weight in terms of size and performance. The 115ps is perky and gives good acceleration all the way to motorway speeds. Like all DSG gearboxes, you have to learn the way it operates as can be tricky to get a smooth start off the line, but otherwise it is good. Mechanically, things to look out for are quite limited as it still quite a new model, but check the DSG box changing smoothly and that there is no excessive noise from it. I would alsp check to see if it has had all software updates done as there was a recall a few months back for the e-call SOS system. Otherwise, if it's an ex-loan car, just check for the usual bodywork and wheel damage etc as they aren't always treated that well. Good luck with the viewing
  38. I have taken exception with him before but on reflection only when I was on the recieving end of the blunt way he puts things but when its others getting the good news I find it entertaining! I should be ashamed to say that but I'm not because what he was saying was not incorrect. He certainly knows his stuff though and I can't think of an example where he has been wrong, I think he works in the trade and sees a lot of our vehicles perhaps not hands on and I reckon he has had to suffer a lot of fools, he certainly is not defensive of the motor trade and makes me laugh with his description of them.
  39. Haldex oil change and screen cleaning Actually I'm lying since I did this a week or so ago but I didn't find the time to post it here too, still i think it'd be interesting for others to see what a Haldex screen looks like after just 22K km and 2 years of age, (albeit one that has seen its fair share of Launch Control) Remember, this is an item that is supposed to never be disassembled and cleaned during the lifetime of the car, just an oil change is foreseen every 30K km... It'll be on my private maintenace schedule every 12-18 months depending on usage and signs of clogging (trumping during launching or when the AWD should be fully engaged). The Haldex reset after cleaning seems to have helped too.
  40. Another while out in the bike at wast water by Wasdale.

My independent VW garage flushed my coolant after I realised I had lack of heat on drivers side and coolant was odd colour, soon after the cambelt got changed. Two bottles of Wynnflush, put on the new expansion tank, had it for a full day to get it hot and cold to do it twice, lent me a car, for £112 all in
  42. It was very straight forward, a pair of pliers and something to remove and then store the fluid plus 10 minutes is all you need.
  43. It’ll be press fit. When fitting the new one, check it first for any obvious sections that may have widened in transit. Or if it feels slightly loose when fitted you can pull it off again and tighten with some plastic grips or pliers with a rag to protect the seal and then thump home again with the heel of your hand. You can lightly use a rubber hammer but normally not necessary.
  44. I would have the dealershi[p check this out thoroughly as it is nonsence that people say it because its been sitting around and getting damp. I had the same problem with mine and could not find any water inside the car, but the dealership took the carpets out and found that the underlay/insulation was very wet. Six weeks later they found the leak as the seal had gone on the windscreen. When it rained heavily it would pour in behind the front scuttle, out of view with all the carpets in. They replaced all my carpets and insulation, headlining and several bits of trim. The car seems akoy now but we havent had heavy rain since so I'm just crossing my fingers. I think you will find this is getting to be a common fault on the Karoq.
  45. U want the least amount of swearing, easy access and least amount of risk (breaking something else in the process) - bumper off job. U want lots of swearing, feeling ur way around (cause u can't see inside), scratching ur head (plus others bits of choice.....), and don't mind having a few spare bolts or broken tabs - keep the bumper on!! So.....u going take the Red or Blue pill? Choose wisely

Hi again just thought I would post the costs of doing this in case anyone is considering it and wants to know the costs involved. victor reinz head gasket kit this included a new gasket for the rocker cover plus the stem valve seals and the exhaust manifold new seals plus the head gasket itself £70 new head bolt set £25 change of oil £32 oil filter £12 head reskim plus stem valve seal fitting £80 total £219 and basically 1 day to strip took head to machine shop and they skimmed and did seals recollected that day, day 2 rebuild and reset of hydraulic valves. Just for comparison I asked my local garage beforehand and including them getting the skim etc they quoted me £760 erm rather have the saving and know its been done correctly
  47. i'm back in a fabia vRS estate ( had 3 now ) forgot how much fun they are to drive some pics of the new toy
  48. The last thing you want if going places with your car full of people or stuff or both is to have to be charging at a charger where you need to plug in your own cable.
  49. Really nice! Discrete mods', but efficient! Awesome job!
  50. Good morning folks and as the year draws to a close I thought some of you might be interested in these stats for my 2018 1.5 DSG Petrol Karoq. I did my last fill up of petrol last week and I don't think I will be driving any great distance soon... I did not keep record from August 2018 when I got it but I now have a couple of years of data. Obviously 2020 has been some what of a different year from 2019 and my driving distance have dropped some what. But it does give some ideas on what you might get and may be helpful for others? Lets hope 2021 improves. The last two images show all figures added together to produce a total based on everything but you will see the last few months I have barely been driving any where and the short journeys hammer the MPG.
