Picked up my VRS this evening. Coming from a 2018 Octavia VRS the wait has been 100% worth it. Massive difference in quality and I'm over the moon! What a car, is it really a Skoda? Feels like a totally different car. Ordered in April. Diesel 2.0 DSG VRS in Moon White.
  3. Didn't want to disturb Mrs Tiggywinkle too much, but she's welcome to makes as much noise as she likes munching and slurping on the slugs in our garden:
  4. New owner, took delivery this week. Pretty happy with the colour!

I think at this point only my body shell is original 😂
  7. Yes there is a timer built into the car for controlling the charging but I find it a lot easier to use the app on my phone. Also I can monitor the energy usage using my Meross energy monitoring smart plug.
  8. This was my thought when I bought one too 👍. It's been great, and to be honest I'd have only ruined the job doing it myself anyway. This took 7 minutes to fit, with all the adhesive and everything included in the price.

Yip perfect logical progression from a Felicia which is perfect for the basics.😁

  18. Ayup all, Just landing my intro post. Ive recently purchased 17 plate octavia vrs tsi 230. Fitted new stereo = wheel bearing needing replaced, added alloy wheels = bad ground caused electrical spasm and dodgy accelerator pedal position sensor. I believe in your theory.
  20. Having just done my fronts and rears only thing I would suggest maybe paying for is a local garage to fit the springs onto the shocks as I tried some spring compressors and honestly it scared me lol so I took them to garage and they mounted them on for 20 quid.
  21. You should be able to set the charge current to a suitable level for a 3pin plug. I'd suggest 10A at most provided you have a good supply with little else on it. As for battery condition while slow charging. That's utter tosh and the guy needs to double check what he's telling you. Maybe he was mixed up and meant the socket? @stephenlumley is there not a schedule in the car for that? I have a timer function on my wall box but never used it as I have it set in the car. Skoda could be slightly different to VW but the timer function should be standard on the platform.
  22. So you have Swing MY19 unit. I am not 100% sure but I believe this unit supports RVC. You have either to connect camera (and code with VCDS, USB Eleven, Vag Can Pro or ODIS) and make a test or remove the unit, open it and see if it has video support chip - see DRIVE2.RU where the guy had SWING 5JA035867A unit and he replaced it with 5E0035871B unit (from Octavia). Also following Rapid Klub PL info I can see that A nd C units do not support RVC while B and D support it. Extrapolating it, I woul d expect that A/E/J units do not support RVC while B/D/H (there is no information in ETKA on C, F and G units).
  23. I've had my IV for a year now and only ever charge it from a 3 pin socket. No problems here. I also use a smart socket which means I can easily schedule charging to start at 00:30. This is when my Octopus Go unit rate drops to 5p. In the 4 hr slot at 5p it gets to about 85% charged. So I get the first 30 ish miles of each journey for about 70p. i was concerned that the smart plug may cook but it copes perfectly with the 10 amps charging current.
  24. I didn't replace my strut mount bolts, I reused them, that was six years ago and they're still all intact, likewise the pinch bolts. You don't have to replace every fastener if they're not stretch bolts.
  25. Only the miniscule one in my profile pic I'm afraid, but it's basically the same as your mock-up 👍😎. In my view, it really improves the look of the front - especially for lighter coloured cars like white or grey.
  26. If it was my car it would be either my elbows or neck🤣
  27. Depends how cracked they are, it's very common now for a variety of reasons, for MoT it could be an advisory for a few years on the same tyres - but it's certainly not a good sign. As with over-priced and over-valued old cars called "classics" like MG Midgets and Austin A40s the tyres may have lots of tread on them through lack of use/mileage but this can cause the sidewalls and tread to go hard affecting the performance of the tyre (braking, steering, handling, road holding, noise and comfort). If the tyres are too aged or in poor condition then this can have serious consequences (see images from R G Everitt below of *new looking* 27-year old tyres on a MG BGT). If the Citigo rear tyres haven't seen a lot of mileage then they could "dry rot" well before the tread gets anywhere near the legal limit of 1.6 mm (better to have 2.5-3 mm if you drive the tyres in the wet though) so possibly a good reason to rotate the tyres to even out the tread wear. Tyres have a manufacturing date on them, four digits, first two are the week of the year and last two the year - unless your tyres are that old they have three digits and perhaps a triangle (or no date at all) in which case they are so old their use is questionable. - https://www.uniroyal-tyres.com/car/tyre-guide/tyre-knowledge/the-importance-of-tyre-age-as-well-as-tread-depth If you're able to put up high-resolution close up photos of the tyres it might give some idea as to how bad they are.

You be surprised how much muck etc gets behind the wheel liners Took my fronts out after finding loads of leafs while I removed the mud flap when machine polishing the car. The wife’s Fabia Vrs was unbelievable, got a shock a the amount behind them. maybe worth removing them every now and then
  29. It's definitely best to change them. My original Bridgestone tyres were noted cracking on the 5 year service (independent) who advised to replace them even though tread-wise they were well legal.
  30. Ha ha. Not sure if I would have enough content to make a it a worthwhile read. Unlike a guy in OZ (JJ RS) over in the Superb forum https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/488943-gandalfs-evolution/ who has a list of mods on his car as long as both of your arms.
  31. Good link to the manual and page number. Requires reading a few times! It is a bit of a mouthful And also a big document to download on the go to find it. It seems the operating speed at which actual automatic braking can occur depends if the system thinks the object is stationary or moving. A few of the most relevant pieces on emergency brake operation ( with operating speed range), quoted below: "Emergency braking at low speed In the event of a risk of collision in a vehicle speed range of approximately 5 km/h to 30 km/h, the warning light appears on the display  » Fig. 286 and the system initiates automatic braking. " "Automatic braking - a stationary obstacle If the driver does not respond to the advance warning of the risk of a collision with a stationary obstacle in a speed range of approximately 30 km/h to 60 km/h, the system initiates automatic braking. Information on automatic braking If automatic brake intervention is triggered by the system, the pressure in the brake system increases and the brake pedal cannot be operated with the normal pedal stroke. The automatic braking interventions can be cancelled by pressing the accelerator pedal or by means of a steering intervention."
  32. You can find all of the answers you need in the Skoda Owner's Manual Page 239.
  33. Why didn't you get it replaced on the insurance, it would only have cost £75 for the excess.
  34. I phoned the local parts shop and they didn't have the part. The main dealer has quoted me £33.and it's a special order. But, just to be safe I've I've managed to get at the other sensor and measure the resistance. 14C 13k Ohm finger temp 10k Ohm my "dodgy" sensor - 3k Ohm So, explains everything.
  35. Job done! Went for xenons on high beam after strong recommendations from the dealer. So now I have all 6000k lights, except for the fog lights. They will follow, and they will be replaced with 6000k LED.
  36. I always advise gentle use for around 100 - 150 miles, if I have fitted them myself on a customers car I will go out and do a hand full of gentle stops 30-0 or 50-20 mph just to start the process. I was told by a Brembo rep that is is best not to 'over-heat' new pads because it can damage them, hence avoid heavy stops, towing caravans etc It will be different if fitting performance/track orientated pads, in which case check with the manufacturer
  37. My VRS went into dealership for 2 days for alot of updates and I think they may have changed control unit for the infotainment system. I now have wireless android auto running along with a dramatic improvement in response time, some new shortcuts in the 'set' hotkey , my phone auto connects and the climate control remains on sync when selected. Hopefully this sorts all the software issues I was having such as PDC, airbag errors etc. Dealership told me only released last week or two but you'll only get it if you're having ongoing issues. I've attached the latest software for info Top is from August update and bottom is the latest available
  38. The Power Magic Pro allows the dashcam to run after the car is switched off, i.e. parking mode. Any bumps and motion will b detected and recorded. I already had a Blackvue Dashcam installed before, but it was setup to only work while the car is on. Now my dashcam can run in parking mode, when the car is off. With the module, u can preset it to stop parking mode based on time (hrs) and/or voltage cutoff (V). Or U can manually switch it off so it only works while the car is on.
  39. Are you climatic (the manual one with 4 fan speeds) or climatronic (the fully automatic one with 7 or 8 fan speeds). If it's climatronic, the fan doesn't have a resistor. The speed is varied using pulse width modulation. For climatic:

  41. Corrected, thanks to @MartiniB’s eagle eye.
  42. You’re over thinking all of this way to much... VW spend millions of pounds to develop a car and not once have they ever said to put it in N when stopped. Stop trying to out smart the car and the technology involved in it. It knows what it’s doing and knows exactly how to operate it’s own gearbox.
  43. Yes it is. The boot torch that comes with the car is magnetic, and I've used it to stick to almost every part of the car body panels, except the bumpers.

Finally got round to fitting the S3 front brakes and wow what a difference they make. I was a little concerned if they would fit or not, but can confirm they fit under 17 inch zenith with 5mm to spare.

The later 340mm front brake discs are better than the older 345mm front brake discs. The VW group started to use the 340mm front brake discs on the 2008 Superb, as shown in the chart below. 340mm front brake discs weigh about 10.8kg each, whereas the 345mm front brake discs weigh about 12.1kg each. The ventilated part of the 340mm disc is wider at 11mm wide versus only 9.5mm wide on the older 345mm version, so the cooling is better. The brake pads have a larger surface area on the 340mm brake discs, as they are about 175mm wide compared to only about 155mm wide on the older version. The 345mm brakes are an ATE design, whereas the 340mm brakes are a TRW design. 340x30mm Front Brake Discs 1K0615301AD brake disc (vented) 340X30MM 5X112 http://www.oemepc.com/tvn_result/search/tvn/1K0615301AD The 340x30mm 1K0615301AD front brake discs were fitted to the following Europe, Spanish, and Czech built cars Catalog Model code Model Name Years Audi A3 Audi A3/S3/Sportb./Lim./qu 2013 2014 2015 2016 Audi A3CA Audi A3 Cabriolet 2015 2016 Volkswagen CC CC 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 Volkswagen GOLF Golf/Variant/4Motion 2013 2014 2015 2016 Volkswagen PA Passat/4Motion/Santana 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 Volkswagen PA Passat/4Motion/Santana 2015 2016 Volkswagen PACC Passat CC 2009 2010 2011 2012 Catalog Model code Model Name Years Seat LE Leon/Leon 4 2013 2014 2015 2016 Catalog Model code Model Name Years Skoda OCT Octavia 2013 2014 2015 2016 Skoda SUP Superb 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 Skoda SUP Superb 2014 2015 2016 The 345mm front brake disc OEM part number is 1K0615301M Catalog Model code Model Name Years Skoda SUP Superb 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 The Superb MK2 was fitted with both versions, the 345mm version and the 340mm version.
