  1. 2017 Skoda Octavia fitted with Adaptive Cruise Control & adjustable limiter. This vehicle had front assist from the factory We can also add ACC to cars without front assist, however there are additional costs involved. Completely error free & operating asif factory fit 😎
  2. Now, now, no need to panic. Germany is right next door to France so Autodoc will be able to deliver cheaply and even Skoda Parts in CZ will be cheap and quickly delivered.
  3. Time for a Citroën for you then 😛
  4. Can be slow delivering, but this lot will probably get you some at a good price https://www.lllparts.co.uk/en/
  5. More and more these days "cant find any/anywhere" means nothing came up on Google, if they are available from TPS then they will be available from any main dealer parts counter the length and breadth of the country but many people think if it can't be found on Google then it doesnt exist. Way back in 2005 when I moved to France a friend wanted to visit me, he said "do you know there are no camp sites anywhere in your area, the nearest is 130kms away!" I could walk 15 minutes and pass 3 small camp sites, there were probably 30 within a 10km radius, every large village or small town had a municipal camp site but no, I was wrong there was nothing in my area, he had checked on the internet. To be fair all of them will be either have a web page or be listed somewhere now.
  6. You, Spivo and me- think positive 🤪😂👍🏻
  7. Hi All, I've been lurking for a while looking up a bunch of stuff for the last .....year or so, if not longer. Finally the time has come to come forward and say hello, and hopefully contribute a bit as well besides asking questions 🤓. My wife and I have been very happily driving our Fabia 3 Combi for just over 2 years now. We're dutch and in the process of officially moving to Sweden, and the Fabia has even served as a 'moving' van with our stuffed caravan behind it and a loaded roof box on top. I'd probably be exaggerating if I said our cats have grown fond of the car as well, but at least they get comfy 😁. Although our Fabia was pretty decently equipped when we bought, I've been tinkering with it a bit already so far - with more than a little help from all your combined knowledge here 😇. The main improvement I was looking for was unlocking Android Auto, though that's a still ongoing quest I'll save for another thread. In the process I ended up buying myself an OBD Eleven dongle, which has thus far been put to good use I've unlocked Offroad mode Driving School mode Scandinavian DRL (taillights on with DRL) Refuel Quantity SmartLink (more on that later 😶) Hill Hold Cornering lights Probably some more stuff I'm forgetting now. As we've moved up North quite a bit I've installed an engine heater/compartment heater/charger, again made easier partially with some help from you guys. In addition to getting stuck with SmartLink/Android Auto, this was actually one of the motivations to register. Given all the help I've had lurking here, I thought it'd be nice to give something back in the form of a tutorial/write-up of the installation process. Besides AA I'm curious about any further upgrades/improvements people might recommend. They don't necessarily have to be 'economically sound' investments, as we plan to drive the car until it's 'finished', it is currently our only car, and well last but probably not least I enjoy the tinkering. As long as they improve comfort etc, and the costs are reasonable in relation to said improvement. Thing's I've considered/been thinking about. Installing an (original) rearview camera. (Not really necessary, we've got the beepy sensors which work fine when they're not iced over❄️). The only thing nicer than retrofitting an OEM camera that I could think of is if we could somehow repurpose the 'hidden' system from the vw golf, where the camera hides behind the vw logo and only pops out when used. But it would obviously have to be with a skoda logo ...😅 Front parking sensors (This is probably never going to happen though, not too sure about drilling in the painted bits of the bumper, and I'd like a painted set of sensors in that case not the ugly black dots) Dashcam front/rear. Maybe an entertainmentsystem upgrade of some sort if I can't get the SmartLink stuff to work properly. Electric windows in the rear - but they'd need to be lockable. Maybe USB charging ports for the backseat in the backside of the armrest. Heated seats, maybe steering wheel. ... Are these even retrofittable? Not too keen on doing the steering wheel retrofit myself given the relative importance and utility of having an operable/functioning steering wheel in one's car. It strikes me as a complex and somewhat delicate procedure. Perhaps 'automatic' trunk-lid opening of some sort if that can be retrofitted/frankenstein transplanted from somewhere. Mostly just thinking of something that gently opens with gas springs, not the fancy electronic opening and closing that I think my sister has on their Enyaq. Higher charging output from the front usb port, as in ....any charging output as opposed to data only. Folding mirrors (where they ever an option on the Fabia 3?) -- Just got distracted from writing this post while perusing the definitive vcds obd11 carista list by @JGrindel, which took me to @wirer's site.... I see can find a whole bunch of inspiration/instructions there 😂. I think it was actually @JGrindel 's fog light retrofit guide that helped me a lot in finding a passage through the bulkhead for my compartment heater install, so much obliged for that :). Alright wrapping up... On the compute side of things I'm considering also getting the Carista app with the adapter, because I generally prefer their more open/extensible philosophy compared to OBD Eleven. Not sure if it's worth getting VCDS as well - as I think OBD Eleven lets me do most of the things as well with the pro license? Anyhow....big long hello I guess on my part, and I will post the story of my engine/compartment heater install shortly.
  8. Update: Today noon after finishing work i found a boulevard and finally manage to put the 3rd-4th gear even for few seconds, i reached the U turn and turn back again having the chance to put 3rd-4th gear again but for a little bit. Unfortunately the city traffic ''caught me'' and after one kilometre i returned home because i didn't had enough time. The TC-6 showed fuel consumption 10,68 ltr for that small trip which means: 1) My Trusty as is isn't for hard city traffic 2) the Air Intake Manifold cleaning, the correction on the thermostat Coolant Sensor and the new Iridium spark plugs were worth it. The new plug for the Coolant sensor is coming soon, i can't leave the old cables because after so many years are hardened and i don't trust them.
  9. I got a new Style with 10'' Bolero and system ending with J in January. WIFI was missing from settings and naturally AA didn't work wirelessly. I was really pushing my dealer that something is wrong and finally yesterday I went to them and they connected to car - probably with decoder or something and they manually activated WIFI. It was disabled in factory. Don't know why - and they don't know either. Now - There is WIFI in the settings and Android auto works wirelessly without any problems. Hope that is solution for others with 10'' Bolero with missing WIFI in settings and AA not working wirelessly.
  10. This video gives a drivers view too: Pretty sure they don't have cornering fogs enabled as nothing changes when they put the indicator on. It's this light in these area's that's created by the dynamic cornering LEDs: At higher speeds they turn off: As I say, pretty underwhelming when compared to the 'bending xenons' which moved the projector left/right for the cornering effect
  11. 2 miles after passing the MOT the rear left indicator threw a wobbly. Took everything to bits expecting a blown bulb. No, the contact for the side of the bulb had broken at the top, but not fallen out. Kitchen foil bodge time, jammed the foil between the contact and the bulb and everything now works without throwing up any faults. A touch of grease on the pins helps the light unit go back in, otherwise they are a swine to get in.
  12. It wouldn't surprise me if they don't work when stationary. Pretty sure all UK spec FL vRS's have LED headlights with dynamic cornering lights as standard You can see the LED in action during this clip:
  13. That’s not the same as dynamic cornering lights, which, use additional LEDs within the main cluster to change the beam “shape”. Youre describing cornering lights which utilise the fog lights for low speed manoeuvres, as you’ve rightly described. Easy to get mixed up as they sound similar but are actually quite different. The swivelling xenon’s from the pre-facelift were great. I much preferred their behaviour over the facelift, but prefer the light output of the facelift. Must be some technical reason why LEDs couldn’t use the same system?
  14. The dynamic cornering light effect is quite subtle from the drivers seat and only happens at low speeds. It's nothing like the 'bending xenons' of old which is more obvious and works at higher speeds. Cornering fog lights have a much more pronounced effect although they aren't standard on a vRS, they can be coded with VCDS or similar.
  15. Impressive balance, despite the wind!
  16. ^ Love Fawlty Towers
  17. Thanks. My Fabia VRs has been so reliable with just basic servicing and regular maintenance that I'm almost out of touch with actually ordering anything! Last fault was the motor for the heating air controller and that was years ago. Truly amazing cars.
  18. A very light sprinkling of snow in the borders.. a couple of shots with the camera phone today.
  19. So when you plug into a 7 kWh charger with the Type 2 AC the onboard charger will be charging @6.6 kWh or what ever. As i do with a Hybrid or EV with a 7 kWh onboard. Charging with the 3 pin is not going to give more than it can. but, you can do a bit better with the right one.
  20. They not cheaper then Euro. For example coils just purchased recently in Euro on sale for Bosch paid £32 there they have some unknown brand for £30
  21. Loss of power shouldn't be an issue. When mine was swapped the dashboard errors cleared by turning the wheel full left to right and back followed by a short drive and restarting the car at the end. Only thing lost was current trip computer stats.
  22. Considering the type of city driving you do I think the fuel consumption will not be good, you will probably see more improvement on your combined driving and open road with possibly improved spirit in the performance.
  23. Agreed - out of the three I changed the H15s were the least white. The H7s and the sidelights were noticeable different.
  24. Inlet manifold to PCV valve, inlet manifold to purge valve, inlet manifold to servo.
  25. Welcome to the group!! Nice little write up and glad you found my posts helpful
  26. Hey all a quick hello I recently purchased a 2016 VRS Octavia, nice low mileage got most of,the toys I wanted apart from electric sears which seem rare as hell but apart from that it’s pretty max out :)- quick pic below from the garage plans booked in new key only came with 1 activate apple carplay Black grill surround and long term going to get full 9.2 MIB UPGRADE and virtual cockpit retrofitted apart from that unsure
  27. I don’t have problems with DAB reception and my BlackVue dashcam. I haven’t fitted any ferrite core on the cable, I don’t remember reading needing that on the instructions. I thought they tended to be fitted to dashcams at the cheaper end of the market. Have BlackVue updated their installation instructions then?
  28. It could be either really, the loom or the lock, more testing is needed.
  29. The end of the line. All in and working correctly, engages with reverse, looks great. The missing link was another part of the head unit loom still being in my drawer rather than attached to the unit. On that loom? A video input labelled Reverse Cam In... I'm slow but I get there in the end. Thanks for all the help and suggestions everyone.
  30. I’ve got to get ready for my Saturday job now anyway 😂
  31. There will be some regrets from many I’m sure ! You are the voice of reason, not a miserable sod 😀 The trick is finding a happy point on the scale of life between being a miser living in a small poorly maintained property but loads of money and being a playboy maxing out your debt and running the hamster wheel until you die !
  32. Fair enough, not forgetting that the 53k on that car is more like 80k if you include the tax you pay before you get your cash to buy the car, that 80K from your salary could have been put into your pension tax free. But yeah, I know, I sound like a right miserable old sod 😂 I only ever ran Skodas for a very long time because I had an eye on my future and didn't want to work forever (I retired at 54). I know you can extrapolate my argument to every single thing you buy, but your example of the house kind of proves my point, that is generally an appreciating asset. Of course everyone should do what they want with their money, just pointing out that one day, some might regret their choices when they realise they have to (rather than want to) work until they're 80.
  33. Hi I found one of the thin pipes of the turbo was twisted, I untwisted it and it never had a problem ever again. All mechanics and specialist etc etc saying replace the turbo I proved them all wrong. It's the part in the pic which is lightly marked. Just make sure there is no twists or turns in the pipes and they all look they sat the way they should and not forced they should all look relaxed the way they should be.
  34. Thanks ords, I should have searched, but it's never great on phones I find, maybe this forum is ok on a phone. Next time I'll try! Seems it's the 'mist' just panicked as Ive had other turbo cars with issues with turbo seals
  35. There's a setting to improve the audio (but never does) - I think it's called sound enhancer or similar. That just needs turning off. There's a few threads regarding this too.

The VR6 engine fits. Someone has just done a conversion on their 4x4. It’s a lot of work and you really need to know what you’re doing. I fear that if you’re already asking, then it maybe not for you. This picture and car is owned by Carl.
  37. Yes I did. Ordered end of November my VRS and was told mid to end of Feb for build. Actually build week 6 and now on route to Emden

When I got my "mildly tuned" vRS I knew the gearbox was "soft" as the dog rings were badly worn and the bearings did not sound great - I nursed it for a year and it eventually went bang - I had lost 4th and then 5th. I got a second hand box which does crunch in 2nd if you rush the change when cold but apart from that I got somewhat lucky - Its being going well for over 2 years but one night of hard abuse will spell the end for this one as well. I did consider doing a rebuild myself for the experience but after advice here I ditched the plan When the last box failed I went looking - I was offered an 02M box from a Golf but it was totally different. I have heard that it is possible to swap the internals from a Golf box to the Fabia casing but this is a lot of faffing and there s a certain amount of uncertainty - The casing will crack as well. Sep is 100% right saying the gearboxes are soft and even a mild tune will stress them - Add in age and miles and you have a perfect storm - You could be lucky in a second hand box or you could be unlucky. Unless you drive the donor car which 95% of the time is impossible it will be a gamble.

No, here, there's been tons of problems with them over the last dozen years or more I've been a regular on here and no problems with the five speed in the PD100, in fact the PD100 is by a distance the most reliable drivetrain available in the Fabia although my 2.0 petrol is pretty solid, but then I have a very similar five speed gearbox. The DMF and the six speed box make the VRS drivetrain much less reliable than the PD130 engine itself.
  40. tested the camera worked, added a power wire. succes! waiting on the skoda camera mount sadly the old mount for old car didnt make it too the new. but i new that already. waiting for china to bring the license plate light holder connectors are waiting
  41. I didn't know the siren had its own battery. This looks promising I can only speak from experience with my own car that starting it after 2 or 3 months is not a problem.
  42. Mine on 2022 kodiaq sportline are spot on. On straight roads bendy country roads that I live on and there working spot on. To be honest my favourite thing about the car.
  43. A few more taken with my camera.....
  44. I've had loads of Octavia's will get a Mk4 at some point if they sort out the reliability issues.
  45. Crackin photo that gaz ,i would love to see the northern lights 👍

The OP hasn't visited briskoda in the past two years, so you are unlikely to get an answer.
  47. People have suggested for years that they learn. They do adapt to conditions but they don't learn your driving style. The more recent boxes will probably have more data to draw on to make changes so appears more than ever to learn. Still just adapting though. A tune will change the shift points to higher revs along with faster shifting. Might also increase the clamping pressure of the clutches to handle more power. All adds up to a more engaging experience at the expense of economy and wear. Stick to suggested services and don't drive like a dikc and you'll likely not see any detrimental effects.
  48. Took this today for a local photography competition. The theme is doors.. I’m currently knocking up some for a project.
  49. Hi kind regards from Poland. Superb 2.0 TDI 200HP Colour : Imperial Violet Equip: Style + all other possible options (excluding leather and 19 inch alloys). My second Superb
