  1. And finally ................................. Lol. After all this looking I have come to the realisation that we (my mate is after one, too) are not going to be able to actually see any FS emtb's in store, I did more searching online and found a few Scott's available in my size. I was looking at either the Scott Genius (really like the look of these) there was a Genius 10 available about £5500 and also noticed the Scott Strike 40 at £4249. Bit of a coincidence that my old FS is a Scott Spark 40. I would have loved to test ride both of them but obvs not possible so I decided that the Strike should do what I want. General difference was Carbon vs Alloy frame and 625wh vs 500wh battery then slightly better suspension with even more travel 160/150 vs 140/140. Most of the rest is the same really.so.............. I purchased the Strike, only available in a midnight blue. Unusual colour for a bike but I think I will like it. I did like the matt black and gold of the Genius but thought the travel may be more than I need and of course the extra grand and a half, Lol. Awaiting email confirmation of delivery date, it should be 23rd....................... 🚲
  2. Last ever photos, taken last year, before it went down the scrap yard:
  3. Out testing with Kam and the gang last night. First time out since a major off at Snetterton a few weeks ago. Stayed in the pitlane, as it was a trackday, to avoid the wrath of the organisers who have a pro togger trying to flog shots to the participants.

With a car sales person / executive / dealer principal best that you just ask them where they get their stories. Is it from the factory from a reliable source or a document released to dealerships or are they just going on Chinese whispers and from a man who knows a man or woman. There is a load of guff being told daily and weekly and monthly by car sales people to customers and potential customers. Skoda / VW can do press releases if they want when they want to tell people rather than allowing the rumour mill.
  6. Thanks for the pic Lee, yeah..i've taken it off & bought a recon unit. Guess what, it's changed nowt apart from steering being slightly stiffer/heavier, but I don't mind that. The knock is still there on turning. J.R. Yes mate.. i'm going to have another look at l/h top bearing again, if i'm being truthful, I just cleaned the ball-bearings & repacked with cv grease, but I did put new mount + bearing on r/h. The guy where I bought the rack told me if the knock persisted, it could be the steering column bearing. At my wits end now! Can I please re-iterate, the car is as quiet as a new one over rough ground, a joy to drive, apart from turning. Sorry i'm a bit late replying, but many thanks for your suggestions.
  7. No, do them one at a time, remove and discard an old bolt then fit and correctly tighten a new one, this way the gasket should remain stuck in place.
  8. Here you go. I had forgotten the foam tape glue got a bit tired last summer so I had replaced the foam tape with some silicone / rubber dots. 5 small ones along the top edge and one bigger one down each side. Kwality.com.
  9. England needs to get on with energy storage, probably a combination of hydrogen and batteries as part of the national grid. It's madness that they're getting people to turn the wind farms "off" during times of high usage. To be honest it comes back to the UK needing to own a fair chunk of it's national infrastructure again rather than having it run for profit by companies (Usually state owned) from all over the world.
  10. Had a walk around Rufford Park earlier in the Summer solstice sunshine . Last car in the carpark again 😃
  11. Nice looking cars there. I do like that Ignis!
  12. I had to drop the wife's ID badge off at her work and parked up in front of her car. On the way back I took this pic as it's not often we see them both out and about together. I then got up for the sunrise this morning seeing as it was the 21st of the month. There weren't any druids around where I was but I did take a photo that captured a bit of the car. Here's one just for the sake of it.
  13. FIxed finally took dealer 4 attempts to fix ( still under warranty , just ) Lubricated suspension bushes no fix Replaced rear suspension units no fix Replaced suspension bushes no fix Replaced axle bush - Fixed So much nicer to drive a non squeaky car , I was close to giving up Cheers Steve
  14. Hi, Don t recognise that dealership,Can t think where that is and i am local.Help me out tell me where it is.Cheers Andy
  15. Well so far all trouble free.... Interesting when going shopping 😁 Bungee cords to hold 2 bags on rear shelf, bits in the boot and beer etc on the floor in-between OHs legs 😂 Out today for Lunch with in-laws so Tom'y got to be inside their garage out the sun and rain... 3 car garage, each door 3m wide to get the Fezza in without folding mirrors. I'm parked in the centre bay 🙂
  16. Well, as I said. The guy I bought the rack from did suggest it could be the bearing/u/j in the column. I've ordered a top mount + bearing today, should be here Thurs. I've really gone through everything that moves when turning the steering wheel & i'm afraid if this latest purchase does not cure it, it only leaves the steering column & that will not get investigated until I save some more pennies up. I wouldn't feel competent enough, so it would be a garage job. Anyway, i'll let you know as soon as i've fitted new mount. Thank all for the input & keep an eye out in the classified ads, there maybe a yellow vrs up for sale lol.

Ordered a Vrs iV Hatch in race blue 7th October 21 with winter pack and mate ordered Vrs Diesel wagon with winter pack and suspension upgrade 4 weeks later from same dealer.... his is in transit and i still dont have a build date.... f*ck the environment i knew i shoulda stuck with a real engine haha!!!
  18. Hi, Yes i am,a 5minute walk from Ingram.That s where i bought my car.
  19. 1 point
yes but it still looks like the biggest delay is the vrs cars.just hope with doors are getting back into production lately.i may get some news in the next week or so.I HOPE
  20. Is this still available please?
  21. Hi DM, cv joint was one of the early diagnosis?? as the knock is definitely on left side & I bought the whole driveshaft (new). Can't be ars**d with messing with the black stuff lol it gets everywhere. As said, i'm going to have another look at top-mount bearing. If still not cured suspicions will fall on side mount as you suggest.

I think darkside developments tested a bunch of tuning boxes on a rolling road, the results weren't very good if I remember correctly.
  23. Sorry to pick up on this thread again. DieselMonte... Did you just remove both seat foams/covers and swop drivers to passengers complete? If so, how hard/easy is this to do? Thanks.
  24. Personally, ASAP or straight away, I'd fit four new tyres of the same make, type, model and age (take it steady on the new set of tyres for the first 100 miles, 200 if wet, and check the wheel nuts for torque after the first 30 miles or so). If the current fourth tyre is OK you could keep it in the boot as an emergency spare if it's not the same make, type, model and age as the other 3 or you'd need to keep checking its still OK. Tyres go like that from any combination or permutation of - lack of use, age, being kept outside, being cheaply made.
  25. if it needed for safety reason i am all for it.them vital minutes or seconds getting to the scene of a accident sooner could be the difference between life or death.
  26. I suspect you already know the answer to the question you are asking. If it were me, I'd be happy to do some local running around on them as I shop for new tyres.

I requested pre-delivery that the wheel inserts not be fitted to mine. It cost me around £80 for the wheel bolt caps and centre inserts, and I prefer the wheels this way, but each to their own. We all have different tastes.
  28. Honestly I can't see there being a risk. I can still see the mechanics face and smile when he handed me the keys back and I asked if the map went on ok (his smirk "oh I think you'll notice the difference!") I now want stage 2 but they don't do it for this engine!
  29. There is the rear Haldex Servicing. That is at 3 years / 30,000 miles or sooner. so on a 2014 car should have been done twice by now. maybe even 3 times. The rear diff might at some point benefit from an oil change. Just be sure nobody is mixing up the drain holes of the Haldex and the rear diff. So they need to know their holes....
  30. We have that metal pipe also, i don't touch it. An older problem, the connection on that aluminium sensor got loose and the whole engine bay get full of hot coolant. That day was a nightmare.
  31. England needs to get on with this energy from wind and storage because for the next year's it will be coal, oil and gas and even Diesel Farms generating electricity. Then the cost a fortune now and for ever nuclear. Those oil companies threatening to not go ahead drilling in the North sea will have no problem finding others ready to take the licence. Same with those with the licence for offshore wind farms. Since my local council starting charging last November 23 pence a kWh to charge i have had this at PodPoint at no cost. and it breaks my heart if i have to buy bananas at full price. 1,130 kWh @ 23 pence would have been £260 that my council would have had. I have had more than that from PodPoint as if charging for less than 15 minutes i do not log in. When there is a 50kWh charger available at only 28 pence a kWh i would use that when needing a quick charge as my home tariff is almost that.
  32. I agree. There will be even more wind being generated at night which will be very cheap to use and eventually more nuclear. 10p or less for a few hours at night is all that is needed for millions of UK users to get most of the electricity they need for the day for the EV and their house, sadly those who cannot take advantage will be paying the high daily rate, 40p plus per kWh and I can even see and introduction of a super rate of 50p per kWh plus for time around 0600 to 0830 in the morning and 1630 to 2000 hours in the evening.
  33. It's really hard to describe. It's better on all three, low pick up, mid range and then top end it just keeps pulling like a train. Off the line speed with the DSG will leave most standing, it makes my car almost feel like 4 wheel drive, it completely changes how the car pulls but somehow it's still smooth and has actually increased my MPG. My car insurance only went up £30 a year so i suggest you declare it (Esure) The remap cost me £399+VAT. I will get every car I have remapped in the future No more regens and def no error codes. It's been on for 2 months now - flawless
  34. Possible but not with VCDS - unit must be patched (hacked).
  35. Was a pleasure meeting you m8, hope you can make Pub meet.
  36. A now retired pal who worked his life in the bottled gas supply industry told me that with any aircon system with rubber hoses or even O ring seals in dry break couplings it is not a question of if it will leak but how long before the refrigerant charge drops below the operating threshold. Fridges and monobloc AC units are completely sealed the motor and pump within the big cylinder, pipes to the condensor & evaporator are solid steel or copper, split units that are charged during commissioning use flared couplings and unless they are badly made there will again be zero refrigerant losses. the DIY ones being sold now with the precharged connection coils with dry break couplings will leak via the seals from day 1. Car AC units with exposed pump seals, polymer flexible hoses and sealing washers will leak a significant quantity every year. He told me that it is possible to have hoses and seals of a material with a molecular value such that leakage is negligible, they have to use them for HSE reasons but they would double the cost of a vehicle were they equipped with them.
  37. Lovely sky for reflections this evening
  38. I know its just your wording of making a hole but i really hate it when a garage/bodyshop use a hole saw or drill or step drill to cut pdc holes. They never cut perfectly and always leave a roughish edge. When they use the proper press on the other hand that forces the plastic out, it leaves a nice tapered edge and prevents any paint peeling, its such a small difference but to me it makes a massive difference in quality
  39. Good morning everyone After just over seven and a half years of Rapid Spaceback ownership, last weekend I traded her in for something new (I bought a brand new MG ZS 1.0 Exclusive Auto in Red). For those of you who haven’t been here since the early days, my Spaceback was one of the very first to arrive in the UK. An ex-demonstrator, it came to me nine months after it was first registered. I made many genuine accessory improvements to it (Curry Hooks, Umbrella Holders under Front Seats, Variable Boot Floor, Sill Trims, Factory Sat Nav retrofit to name a few) and even managed to work out how to get to grips with the temperamental MDI Audio Interface. But, after 52,000+ of motoring it was time for a change. I wanted something more comfortable with a much higher riding position and more creature comforts. Alas, Skoda could not supply anything used or new that fitted the bill and was affordable, so after a 6 month wait, I opted for a brand new MG ZS (Petrol, not EV). This will be my last petrol car, whatever comes next will be either all-electric or at least a hybrid. I will be listing a range of mint condition accessories for sale in the next few days, including the variable bolt floor, so keep an eye out and have yourself a bargain! To conclude, here’s my final report on the Spaceback after all those years of ownership: Good Points * Very reliable - never cost me a penny mechanically other than scheduled servicing. One electrical fault (see below) and never failed to start or broke down. * Pretty well put together - while it eventually developed some dashboard rattles and had the Spaceback signature clanky front axle, the interior and exterior always felt solid and well put together. * Plenty of power - the 1.2 TSI is a great little engine. Just as happy bombing along the motorway as it was creeping around town, and never struggled to keep pace with fast moving motorway traffic. * Economical - I averaged 42MPG over the time I had the car and on a few occasions (including my last ever fill-up) broke 50MPG. The trick is to cruise at 67MPH, 2,100RPM in 6th Gear. * Big boot - can’t fault the storage space. * Rear Legroom - definitely the party trick of the Spaceback is the insane amount of rear legroom in the car. Even more than the long wheelbase Rover 75 I once had. Easy upgrades - Very easy to replace the Swing radio with the Amundsen sat nav, the essential upgrade you can do on this car. * Most people thought it was an Audi A3 until they saw the badge :) Bad Points * The seats (OMG the Spaceback is still the most uncomfortable car I’ve ever owned, and I once had a Peugeot 106, itself a contender for most uncomfortable place for a car driver, but the Spaceback is worse). I know the seats were improved for the facelift model, and boy was that needed. The uncomfortable seats were my main motivation for making a change. * Rattles - after a couple of years it started to develop a few trim rattles, all dashboard related. The clanking suspension and front axle. A known trait of the car, the clanking noises when you go over a bump are disconcerting (even though everything is nailed together properly down there). * Tailgate wiring - the loom to the tailgate snapped after 6 years of opening and closing due to being too tight. Could not open the boot as a result. It broke about 18 months ago and cost nearly £500 to fix (Skoda main dealer). The only major repair expense the car suffered though. * Armrest - broke the catch three times and had to replace the hinges soft top once. Easy and cheap to do given this entire part is lifted from an old Polo. * Headlights - terrible, even after upgrading the bulbs they don’t put out enough light. Thanks Chris
  40. A little update, it didn't take too long for the car to find a new home. It was bought at auction by a dealer called LDSM Cars in Sydenham, South East London. Assuming they got the sticker price, they sold it for about £2,000 more than I traded it in for, which is fair enough. But the car is taxed again and on the road. Maybe its new owner will find their way here eventually.
  41. The official circuits aren't organised in that way. There's no such page(s) as 'door loom'. You'd have to look up the separate parts of the loom by function, then piece them all together, which would take a fair old while.
  42. From the latest Scala owners manual: Looking at the latest Scala brochure: Based on that, I would say you don't have adaptive headlights and therefore you won't have a LHD/RHD switchover available. You'll need to use traditional stickers/beam benders I'm afraid.
  43. May be nothing but mine would jump stations without me touching the head unit. Turned out I was bumping something on the steering wheel.
  44. If you haven't already tried, it might be worth cleaning the screen, in case some grot is interfering with the touchscreen operation....
  45. I have an aftermarket one - not sure of make though. It's rubbish! The amount of play in the actuator where is joins the 4 butterfly's is unreal - I won't be fitting it. You'd be better off finding a low mileage used one and order a couple of OEM rubber gaskets and go from there. It would also be worth pulling the injectors, give them a clean and replace the 'O' rings etc. Re the aftermarket inlet manifold, I'll try and find out it's make and let you know...
  46. Sorry for the dirty state of things and the terrible exposure. This ECU was under the driver seat.
  47. I read a bit on the forum to understand what you are asking. If I understood things correct, there are two versions. One with 8 speakers and one with 10? And the Columbus was delivered with both these configurations? And if you have the 10 speaker system there should be an amplifier under driver seat? Correct me if I misunderstood it. To tell you the truth, I don't remember what I bought back then. If I got it right, then I can check if I have anything that looks like an amp under the seat. Is there any other way identify the different versions?
  48. Gave the new car a wash and polish today. My process is probably fairly simple in comparison to others and all done by hand (although I do have a basic halfords machine polisher but the paint is in pretty good shape).
