  1. Ressurecting this thread a little as I have reached another milestone with the Van, its not doing bad for 15 years old...
  2. Since the highbeam is pretty bad i fitted a ledbar to improve the light a bit, happy with the result 🙂 It's dark here in Sweden during winter and a lot of wildlife on the roads so have to be prepared. I've crashed with a moose once and I dont want to experience that again. Will be changing the xenonbulbs too before winter comes, i think there is room for improvement there also.
  3. Had a visit from our local Air Ambulance a short while ago (they were thankfully stood down). The Pilot was 26 years old - younger than both my kids! It took them 12 minutes to get from Redhill Aerodrome to Eastbourne: Gaz
  4. Wrong, the Battery Management System aims to charge the battery to no more than 80%, as I explained in my previous post
  5. Otherwise, small satisfaction of last week-end: nice detailing of the cabin of Moby **** (that's the little nick name of my car, since it looks like the big whit whale 😁). Quite happy to see my Superb sooo clean! BTW, it gave me the opportunity to compare "Sprayabale Leather conditioner and cleaner" from Chemical guys (which I used on my wife's Q3 a week before) and "Gold Class" from Meguiars' which I used for my Superb. Finally, I think I prefer Meguiars' regarding the final aspect, since it almost doesn't modify the appearance. Leathers remain quite mat, as if they were coming straight from the assembly line. Considering now the nourishing and protection effects, errr... I would be very annoyed to try telling which is the more efficient. Some pics of the cleaning : After cleaning with only soapy water : A nice mat aspect, close to its appearance when coming out from assembly line the steering wheel is a bit too shiny though. I had a better result on my wife's Q3 a week ago... After applying Meguiars' Gold class: Moby **** still looks good though 97500km and almost 6 years on the clock.
  6. And end up being taken for £588 or £968 for a new alternator! The OP is making the sounds of a willing victim.
  7. Because present batteries will not be at 100% ( by design ) and if the customer could see this they would get worried that the battery ( even when new ) is faulty. Thanks. AG Falco
  8. That's an Augusta Westland 169 like the one in the vid below. Under two minutes for pre flight checks and take off. I wouldn't be too concerned about the pilots age. A case of 'don't the coppers look young these days'
  9. That seems very young to be flying that, usually they look for ex RAF pilots with years of experience under their belts. The 12 minutes is pretty impressive, I guess Redhill is not very busy then, the distance is about 30 odd miles, but they have to wait for the engines to get upto working temp before they can take off. The air ambulance over at North Weald can take a few minutes before it gets airborne.
  10. Indeed, but if it's rated as zero towing capacity it will most definately be illegal to tow with it. EVER. If it's rated to tow get a towbar fitted but not by the dealer as they'll just farm the job out. I've had towbars fitted to 2 Kodiaq, neither had prep, neither had any problems.
  11. It lights up pretty good despite the location where it's mounted for sure 😊 Yes it's legal, at least here in Sweden 🙂 You can have as much lights as you want on the highbeam. I've got buddies that has 10 times the lumens that I have on highbeam 😄 The only thing that's not legal is the "drl:s" or what you may call them that i use. On my ledbar you can choose between white or orange/amber.
  12. Had similar on our old Fabia and Octavia 2 Estate - I simply re sealed over the top of the original using a polysuphide sealant (I think it was Tiger Seal)... You can probably check that your assumption is correct by using electrical tape as a temporary 'seal' between screen and body and seeing if that resolves the issue - if it does then you can re-seal properly
  13. Well, it's settled. Bought an Octavia VRS Estate 6 speed DSG Quite happy with it so far. Have some plans, but none of them mean tuning the engine. As for the Darkside Octi, as mentioned before, it will be stripped.

Further Info released https://www.skoda-storyboard.com/en/skoda-world/what-does-the-new-superb-have-to-offer-check-it-out/ Seems a Superb mk 4 was used in last stage of Tour de France https://www.skoda-storyboard.com/en/skoda-world/the-new-superb-on-the-tour-de-france-in-unique-camouflage/ meanwhile in UK, looks like Superb mk3 is entering runout stage as brochure was revised 14th July 2023 https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/71165c49-62c5-4f74-b29a-be6ad40d7373
  15. That’s exactly my experience. I paid Sterling Insurance, who are owned by Adrian Flux, £318 with excess protection, 5k miles and £100 compulsory excess (zero voluntary) in June 22. I had no claims during the year. The renewal they quoted for this year was….. wait for it….. £567, which is a 78.3% increase! Oh and the excess? Yeah, the compulsory £100 went to £425! I was expecting an increase, as the comparison sites quotes, like your experience, had came back with quotes that were between 30 and 120% premium increases. I then remembered there was a banner ad on here for an insurer and found it was Chris Knott and their quote came in best at only a 23.4% increase at £390 which is still absolutely outrageous. I was in the risk business for fleet and combined commercial insurance for 15 years and this so-called “hardening of the (retail) market” is completely driven by the underwriting cartel decision to whack the poor old motorist yet again for the “softening” incomes made during C19 and the ever increasing numbers of world governments and authorities insurance claims, caused by the effects of global warming and boy, haven’t they done well. Ripoff Britain strikes again.
  16. No, both of your first two statements are quite wrong.

I'm not interested in the new one either. If rumours are true it will use the same infotainment UI as the new golf based on the ID platform. The reason I started to look at the superb over a new Octavia was the touch sensitive volume slider on the Octavia which is a disaster. I was hoping new of the new one would drive down the prices of the current model to make way for the new stock. However, it seems with the chip shortage, stock models are already in short supply. When I checked last week, Superb was not even available on the German configurator. Here in Switzerland they are giving large discounts on the high spec models which almost come fully loaded with options. Only the 200/280ps 4x4 engines are available. Anyway, last Friday I got bored of waiting & bit the bullet. I ordered a sportline TDi in Dragonskin. Hoping for delivery in around 3 months
  18. Hi all, Thought id start this to document my progress on my 2017 Fabia. I've done a few mods, and also just began a journey into coding the car. Any coding I do/have done i'll post on here - whether successful or not - as ive scraped multiple forums and dodgy websites to find the information I wanted. Hopefully it makes it easier for you folks. 20. 56mm looks more like a size for a centre boss than for a wheel nut.
  21. Ours is a 2020 plate with levers on the sides which you use to manually adjust the lumbar support. Not really played around with the drivers seat as it’s been ok since we bought it. Significant Other has recently adjusted hers.
  22. I am having exactly the same problem. I cannot re-activate Skoda Connect after a main dealer salesman done a factory reset for poor screen response. I have tried everything that Skoda technical have advised. Main dealer could not solve it. I have pages of e-mails from the factory. Still the same. I cannot set myself as primary user therefore i cannot activate Skoda Connect. I am booked in to a main dealer on 1ST August. They say they will need the car all day maybe more! Pretty bad for a subscription service. This has been ongoing since the start of May.
  23. Nope not likely to throw a fault on the dash unfortunately. Keep an eye out for the vents not blowing hot air too, this is also a symptom of a blocked matrix or air locks entering the cooling system
  24. My issue was the windscreen wasn’t bonded suddenly started getting wet carpets I discovered the water was running down inside of the A pillar trim through dash in to footwell
  25. I'm guessing you talking about this one?
  26. Yes, the CrossClimates have been an absolute revelation compared to the OEM Bridgestones and what’s more they’ve gained Significant Others approval, so win-win all around 😄 Apart from the far superior ride, they also look more the business, far chunkier than the Bridgestones.
  27. Sorry for the delay in responding. I have had the car taken to a local garage, i just simply haven't got the time to do it. I'll post the latest prices for the parts. Thanks for your help 👍
  28. You're maybe sorted by now @Northern-Chap but those wheels are just Team Dynamics Monzas with a Skoda centre cap.
  29. This is dragging on. Either way, you can't buy one and the car will be fine without it. Chuck it in the bin and move on.
  30. Thanks a lot! It looks really like reworked old 085 gearbox. So i need to find it and check if this can be the donnor of an 4,86 final drive for felicia
  31. Jesus! That’s enough to blind any oncoming vehicles!
  32. Many thanks for your replies, both of you are of same opinion then, i'll fit it dry after a mega-good clean.
  33. @Ynnoj85I can't believe that you don't find the xenon bulbs good enough. That light view from the car is great though but I'd hate to be driving towards you with those on.
  34. Isn't it the water pump, the pulleys and the tensioner arms that are the achilles heel(s) though? If one of those pulleys breaks or the waterpump fails can't it completely "knacker" the whole thing as the belt will snap in sympathy and the valves etc. will be mashed in turn. The belt might look fine but don't forget about those pieces as well - much more difficult to visually inspect for imminent failure?? Like your troosers - the belt might be made of a wonderful material but if the little pin in the buckle snaps then your troosers will fall down and bear your airy harse to all 🙂

Hello Phil, welcome to Brisky Gaz
  36. Looks great, like the colour. What shocks did you go for?
  37. They are both incorrect, either ignorant and ill informed which is perhaps understandable hence acceptable or looking to milk you which is not.

I've just changed tyres from Bridgestone Turanza 001 to Goodyear Asymmetric 6, and I've noticed a reduction in fuel economy. The tyres grip very well indeed, but the trade-off is increased rolling resistance, even at the 2.6 bar "eco" pressure.
  40. IIRC that centre rear headrest was a £45.00 option. It's an easy enough retrofit too, if you're that way inclined. I did it with my old seats in the Fabia, and made a guide on here I'm sure.
  41. I have bought a few for family cars. All work no problem in the Skoda and in cars with aftermarket head units. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BX68HFYG?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155615682476 Just realised that you are looking for an Android Auto adapter. Check out the reviews for these items for sale on Amazon, some are for sale from sellers also doing Carplay adapters. They look identical to mine, but I assume there must be different internals for Android and Apple. https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=android+auto+wireless+adapter+uk&i=electronics&crid=EXMPIHOP9S9O&sprefix=Android+auto%2Celectronics%2C84&ref=nb_sb_ss_ts-doa-p_1_12
  42. New style charging systems for AGM and EFB batteries don't necessarily put out the (constant) voltages that old style ones do. I would say at 5 years old the battery is much more likely to be the problem, and at the prices you're talking for the alt replacement, imagine how gutted you'd be if you changed that and found no change to the situation.
  43. @pxl1g, @peju82, @TonttuX, @zorglub Check your inboxes.
  44. This week mine received new set of shocks, Eibach pro kit springs, racingline turbo inlet, hose and performance air filter. I can easily say there is no change on comfort at all.
  45. Keep it safe, some manufacturers can charge well into 3 figures for a duplicate!

I look at Yeti prices now and again on Autotrader, and there was one on for £19995 the other day. I know the used market went crazy a year ago, but this shows how in demand low mileage ones are.

My saga is coming to an end, just had a call from the dealer to say my car will be delivered Friday 21st July. Ordered Sept 2021. I bet I hate it now😂
  50. You need to be on at least 1896 software. Old versions think the car is left hand drive and as such think our overtaking is undertaking and don't allow it 😞
