  1. Insurance renewal came through, £8.26 cheaper than last year. Must admit I’ve heard it’s gone up loads for everyone so pleasantly surprised
  2. Round trip completed. 210 miles travelled approx, 35 miles showing on range left. Miles per kWh showing 5 m/kWh so faily spot on for Zoe range ie about 240 miles. Oddly the Zoe odometer seems to under record as Google said about 215 miles but Zoe instrument slightly less than 210, usually to over report mileage than under so range would look better than it real is, weird. Will charge up tonight of the cheap lecky at 9 p per kWh so I reckon cost for the 210 mile trip £4 ish. Car showed stats of around 48 Kwh used but over 5 kWh of regen. Use of lecky for climate was only about 1 kWh for the whole trip. My £12 heated seat cover worked well. Average temp was about 9C so quite warm for this time of year. Well done Zoe, be interesting to see how the Renault 5 spec will be. I hear there will be a smaller battery LFP version and a more expensive pure lithium version and similar for an Alpine A290 lithium version.
  3. I work full time as a roadside tech nowadays but before that spent around 10 years working on cars in workshops (mainly VAG but also JLR). My hobby is working on my own car doing all these fits and running SK Retrofits to offer bits to others too. Some information can be sourced from others who have done the same bits, other retrofits that are new or haven’t been done by anyone involve countless hours of looking at wiring diagrams, parts diagrams, comparing car logs, finding parameter files, writing a plan of the process, checking if parts are compatible (sometimes by trial and error) as well as just giving it a go and finding the outcome as you go! then sometimes parts don’t exist so you have to start looking elsewhere at other cars, then if still nothing, designing and creating your own parts. Like what I’m doing with the areaview for the front camera mount and all the cabling. someone’s got to give it a go for others to give it a go themselves 😛
  4. Get the digitiser replaced by a specialist or if you are able just get a digitiser and replace on top of the present one, cost about £20, do NOT get Skoda to do it!. Read through this thread:
  5. Reckon it could be how they do maths or shaving a year off... Signs are so far VW have not put up their navigation releases so far for November 2023 for mib2 standard (that's this one), mib2 high or mib3. So a positive sign they haven't got the mib3 one out yet, may be they have fallen asleep on the job. Mib2 high and Mib3 has been secured by other routes. Direct server. That leaves the VW mib2 standard release for November that hasn't been found. The German community Skoda board aren't saying anything. On the maths the 5 year rule would put 2025 as the point. 2024 being the last. They might have shaved a year off but where is the mib3 one ?. We believe mib2 high will go on for a couple of more years due to Audi using that on the TT after 2020 for a couple more years. Could be production issues. So in summary: MIB3 and Mib2 high have been located but not indexed onto the VW web page Mib2 standard hasn't been located or indexed.
  6. You should have kept that one back for April Fools day John. It'd have been a cracker. The car was fit for purpose, the road surface wasn't. Hope the claim goes thru but the pesimist in me says the council were unable to repair the road due to the dangerous conditions in recent days. " The weather has caused issues on almost every road in our district and we're doing the very best we can to repair them as fast as we can, but obviously we do everything at once". ( use legal term - Act of God ).
  7. It’s pretty flat, with the hatch open the RHS is still a little raised. But once the tailgate is closed it holds the load cover in place nicely and no view through the back is lost. 👍
  8. Thanks for the 'heads-up' on how to get to the sensor. I have ramps and long, skinny arms, so I'll give it a go. Many thanks, Chris
  9. Since many car have now automatic headlights as standard spec, I think it's easy not to notice they're actually off with DRLs ON. Why? Because, DRL light the road ahead quite significantly, and your dashboard is lighted up too as soon as DRL are ON. Additionally, if you let your car to a garage, most of the time, you take your car back with headlights on OFF position, since it's part of their 'check in' procedure. But, as you're used to automatic lights, it may take you several miles to notice it and put the selector back on AUTO position...
  10. Errrr, no. You do it because you’re INSANE!!! 😊 All I’d be left with would be a wonky dash with nothing working and a pile of “leftover” bits in the footwell.
  11. Thank you for link and ideas - much appreciated.
  12. Parts will be approximately £185 OM. Vantage Skoda Morcambe. (Simpsons Skoda Preston about the same price) Paten parts seem unavailable from the wesites I tried. Part number: 1K2721503AR Skoda Yeti Greenline 2012
  13. There are ways of fitting a full spare in the 4x4 boot. Not orthodox but works for us. 👍
  14. Hi. Many thanks for letting me enter the world of Skoda. Just bought a 2019 Octavia Vrs 245, white with the black pack. Very very pleased…
  15. I saw a video about learners and insurance. It appears that if a young person has a car and insures it declaring a provisional license, the quote can be quite low. This is probably because the car is effectively under control of a licenced driver. After passing the test, the pass must be declared and there is a fair chance that, because there is no moderation, the insured is seen as a higher risk.
  16. If you have a claim on one of the policies you should also inform the other companies. If you have two policies with the same company you need to ensure they know about your second policy. I had an issue when my neighbour's fence fell in a gale and damaged our car. I had previously had a no-fault write-off in 2018. When I got in touch about the new damage, it turned out that the company software didn't 'inform' one of the policies about the total loss. My policy was loaded in 2018, but the second policy wasn't but should have been. They couldn't charge extra for the years they had missed, but did make a small charge for the last year unntil the accident went off the record. In the end I didn't get the new damage done through insurance as the excess was as much as it cost me to get it fixed. However, if I had done it through insurance my two policies would most likely have been loaded, and as I am a named driver on my two daughter's policies with the same company, I wouldn't have been surprised if they got loaded as well. In my view, I think it is appaling that you can have a no-fault paid by the third party, then have all of your policies loaded as well.
  17. H., welcome, for cleaning and lubrication, subject to usual caution for electrics if involved, if electrics you could use a combined switch cleaner and lubricant like Servisol Super 10, if not electric you could use other cleaner (electrical contact cleaner would also do) and then a longer lasting lubricant like GT85 (better than WD-40 Multi-Use) it will also help with releasing plastic clips. For parts and more info specific to your model you'd be better posting in the 'Skoda Yeti' forum. - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/151-skoda-yeti/ HTH.
  18. thank you. Polyurethane adhesive fixed it.
  19. Exactly the same problem and fix with my Bear.
  20. don't worry, probably cheap bulbs from china Fleabay and they will go REALLY bright and flicker then fail within a few weeks anyway !!🤣
  21. @varaderoguy Pray tell, how do you arrive at that conclusion to a rumble sound from a front wheel when turning left between 10 and 70 km/h?
  22. I followed a vehicle in dark murky urban conditions last night, no rear lights or number plate lights but I could make out some illumination of the road in front of them, the car was too newish to likely have 3 blown bulbs (a frequent occurrence here) so the DRL's is the likely answer and why he was not flashed by oncoming traffic. Why do you consider these drivers you see have made a conscious decision to turn off their headlights because they believe DRL's are sufficient rather than that they have simply forgotten to turn on their headlights? Have you never forgotten to do so yourself? I doubt that, it happens when you are already in a well lit area when setting off, pre DRL's as soon as you got to a non lit area you became aware as you could not see, DRL's prevent you from realising that. Of course there are others, around here usually the drunks who dont realise, in those cases at night DRL's are a real safety measure, there is far more danger to oncoming traffic and pedestrians than vehicles following who have very little speed differential, all vehicles have reflectors.
  23. You just tuck the cable in, no need for the mini plug to be pushed through anything
  24. Another pet hate of mine is drivers that turn their headlights off and think daylight running lamps are okay to use instead of 'normal headlights' not realising the rears are off , something I've never understood why car manufacturers made them this way.
  25. My Karoq is a 18 plate car so I figured it was time to replace the cambelt in line with previous guidelines of 5 years. I booked the car into my local garage but had a call saying that they could not complete the work as a special 'tool' costing £2,000 was required to electronically tension the belt. I researched on-line and saw horror stories of £800 - £1,200 for replacements ... but what do you do? it's a no win situation. Luckily I found out that a garage not too far away was authorised to carry out Skoda maintenance work ..... Got them thro' Skoda.UK website. Called them this morning to get a quote and was given some extraordinary news. On my Karoq ( and I stress on my engine number starting DADA) , SKODA HAVE REVISED REPLACEMENT GUIDELINES TO ... UP TO 15 YEARS .... YES NOT TYPO, 15 YEARS OR 180,000 MILES. Understandably, the garage stressed it was a guideline and that personally would look to replace a while before as any new cambelt fitted by them carried a 3 year g/tee so a replacement at say 10 years would cover you until 13 years and hopefully way beyond. I hope that Iv'e made your day! I certainly feel good about choosing my Skoda.
  26. It's been a topic of much discussion on here over the years (at least since 2016 to my knowledge) how different the advice from Skoda UK was to the rest of the VAG world. It's great that Skoda UK have fallen into line with the rest of the VAG world, but it took them far too long and it has cost UK Skoda owners a LOT of money in unnecessary cambelt changes - if this was the USA someone would be starting a Class Action case against Skoda UK!
  27. Hi, I am also new to the Octavia ownership world, my mk2 has the stream unit fitted so I purchased an oem swing unit thinking it should just plug in and away you go. Unfortunately it turns out it isn’t so easy. Immediately the battery went flat overnight and continued to until I attempted a little research and saw a suggestion that because the previous unit matched to the car and other electronic components once removed there is an issue because the car does some kind of scan that once removed it does the scan again and again causing the drain. I reinstalled the original unit and the car was back as it had been with no power drain
  28. I've always thought the only thing missing was a mower attachment. What's the minimum cut height?
  29. Moon was bright though and my Galaxy S23's camera surprised me with it's abilities 😮
  30. Fatalistic, above, pointed out that their's is the same. So seems likely it's doing this by design - I'm guessing that Skoda (VW Group, probably) assume that you'll only look at the trip mileage now and again and once you've looked you may well want to reset it, so they helpfully tell you how.
  31. Hi Thanks everyone. I've just had OSRAM bulbs fitted, purchased from Powerbulbs. Night breaker Laser +150% H7 Cool Blue Intense Next Gen H15 Both claim to be 120% brighter. The wider spread of the H7 is noticeable as is the increased whiteness of both beams. And yes, I've a manual thumb wheel adjustment -hidden by the steering wheel.
  32. Can you check from outside the car if any other lights are coming on when the right indicator is on? I'm guessing there's an earthing issue somewhere
  33. 1 point
Some have two, some even have a SIM slot
  34. If under 1000 miles, could try arguing with dealer, vehicle not fit for purpose as part disintegrated in normal use, therefore want remedy. (use legal term remedy). Therefore want faulty vehicle or parts replaced Free of charge, or will reject as unsuitable for Cumbrian roads. (They won't know how serious you are about rejecting, but if they do the talk and patter, ask them for a letter confirming they are rejecting any claim so you can give written outcome to your lawyer. Then after few minutes pause, ask if they will swap the wheels with some 17s and they can keep the 19s. To close the matter. See how you get on.
  35. Its a very easy job, took mine out yesterday to replace my 12v power socket fuse, as I wanted to put some air within my tyres. I also managed to unhook the damper arm and put it back on again without taking the side panel off. Just need a long narrow screwdriver to do so. I also hooked the damper arm on fully extended, prior to pushing the bottom clips in. You can fit the screwdriver down the left-hand side of the glove box whilst its open to unhook it. Once the glovebox is out you can see the pollen filter cover at the right hand side. Maybe I just got lucky with my technique lol.
  36. I advice to put instant consumption values on your VC and that will give you a good idea of what is happening there. In short, yest, battery is always consumed when accelerating and often when maintaining speed but not much power needed (like driving down the hill - car may decide to consume some 2-3kWh/100km instead of switching ICE on).
  37. Slight revival of this post 12 months' on 🗓️ - had a new Sachs organic clutch fitted last week at local garage QST, and thanks kindly @roaddetective for highlighting the requirement for replacing seals, as it was the first thing I asked about. Reassuringly, they sort those out by default as part of the service (due to their experience of the same thing that has happened with other vehicles, and especially on this thread). However, I've referenced this thread itself as to 'why I asked', and if there is an issue with it in future that I'd refer to this 😅. I also had my water pump replaced at wondrous expense... Running in clutch for first 100ish miles has been issue-free (thus far). Standard effects felt re: heavier pedal, slight vibration on slow-speed manoeuvres, quicker engagement. Am looking forward to proper use post-350+ miles, though fingers crossed I don't have a similar issue as above 🤞
  38. to activate data plan for builtin Wi-Fi Hotspot are required extra purchases, which i didn't mentioned cause i ignored €35 25Gb 365d €18 5Gb 90d €7 2Gb 30d i selected just this one €40 1y Care Connect - Remote Access, useful for me €50 1y Infotainment Online, i ignored free Infotainment Apps, not tested
  39. ..I had an Allegro ???? . . . ...I'll see myself out....
  40. A Polyurethane adhesive is probably your best bet - strong adhesion, waterproof and flexible. to be extra sure I’d get a 3M plastic adhesive primer first, else it’s gonna be a complete sunroof setup
  41. Your part number is 5Q0955547, superseeded to 5Q0955547A then to the below which is current; 5Q0955547B Rain and humidity sensor
  42. Was going to be my next question if you found what I thought you might. Probably got a little bypass relay thing somewhere in the boot area which has been miswired or just scruffily (shortily?) wired. If you find such a thing, look for stray wire strands, or just rip it out and tape up all loose wires for now. Sad thing is, I believe a 2007 Roomy may well be perfectly happy with towbar wiring directly fed from the existing bulb wires without such a relay thing. Will check this out for you later, but I think factory towbar wiring just parallels off. There's a cute 10-second coding job you can do with VCDS (lite) to tell the 'vehicle voltage control unit' there's a towbar socket wired in, after which you'll get an extra visual indication on the dash when connected and indicating (this legally substitutes for the beep function of the bypass relay things). 7-pin or 13-pin towbar socket? I imagine it's a 7. Glowplug light may well be a result of same issue. Don't panic. 🙂
  43. Hmm, good extra data. Sounds like the car is getting a signal as if it's been put in reverse gear each time the brakes are applied. On your drive, with an assistant, see if reverse light(s) are coming on with brake lights, even in neutral. Selecting reverse with blower on automatically switches air intake to recirculation mode which increases sound in cabin. Selecting reverse with front wipers on adds rear wiper action...
  44. All belts were changed at the intervals except the one that snapped. The timing cover was covered with tippex numbers! The one that snapped was retiring as a taxi in a few months time and I'd stopped caring as I had a new car lined up. Someone did try and repair it but it was never the same again and I think it ended up scrapped.
  45. Push the bench back with more force and then lift up to disengage from the back fastenings.
  46. Hello everyone, after 1 year of loving this car I thought I would like to share with you my project. First of all I remember buying this car and telling myself I would keep it stock no matter what... 3 months later I couldn't keep my word and decided to do some modifications. So here is a little list of what it's done, hope I can inspire some other people to not keep it stock -TA technix airride system -Borbets T 7,5J front 9J back -Ramair air filter -Stainless steel exhaust cat back -custom phone holder -omp steering wheel -momo steering hub -Custom tail lights and here are some pictures of the car:
  47. Many thanks ApertureS, much appreciated. Yes it is one of the sensors on the black rear strip on the bumper, so 5Q0919275C.
  48. 5Q0919275C if you are talking about the back 4 sensors mounted in the black plastic piece. If you have self park and the additional side sensors the part number for the two side sensors is 5Q0919275B which come unpainted and are body colour matched.
  49. That's all folks... Here's the replacement bus. I'm putting a few Superb 3T ancillaries in the for sale section, including K&N filter and a centre console armrest cubby tray if any current owners are interested.
