Many many years ago I said on this forum that the Yeti would become a classic car. Most Yeti owning peeps at that time on this forum scoffed at my stupidity. Most of those I guess have since replaced their cars. Ha ha. The Yeti is still the best all round car ever invented. It can do everything. And it is still the best looking suv. We bought ours new in 2011 and it will stay with us until it dies.

I came into a chunk of money last year, just before my 60th birthday. At the time I had a 2014 yeti elegance, a 140 bhp 4x4 dsg that I had owned for 3 years. It was relatively low mileage and drove like brand new, and looked brand new. I still had 1 year of finance to pay. I changed it for a karoq 1.6tdi dsg, so I have a much newer car with no finance. The Karoq is comfier and cheaper to run. However I miss my yeti. I loved it. I only like te karoq. Its forgettable to drive, forgettable to drive. Will I ever buy another Karoq? Probably not despite it being a good car. Would I ever buy another yeti? Yes. In fact I nearlydid a couple of months ago to use as my workhorse don't care about it car, but instead bought a mk4 golf gttdi. I actually went looking for a roomster. I love the yeti because it's different, a it of an oddball. The only criticism of it I had was the boot a bit small, and the seats a bit hard, although I did 700 miles in one day and stepped out of it fresh enough at the end.

+1 for the DSG, particularly with the 1.5 engine. So relaxing and comfortable to drive. As for rear legroom, I would say it’s surprisingly roomy for a car of this modest size. I’m an old geezer and had cars since I was 17 - my Kamiq is the best I’ve ever had.

Hi folks, New owner here. 2017 280 Sportline. DCC, Canton and a few other bits and bobs. Absolutely love it and as a bonus, the family do too. They really are such a capable all rounder. Feels special too. Been lurking about over the last month, gathering some info and asking questions prior to viewing. Great forum and some lovely cars.

  8. Only a delivery inspection in 2016 and an oil service at 57K miles in 2021, done in different places. Thanks. AG Falco
  9. Do you want me to code it for you? With OBDEleven. I charge Beer Money. Thanks AG Falco
  10. So, it turns out that if you remove fuse 15 the car is a little bit more throaty https://flic.kr/p/2pztgsg

I heard it's to make the noisier diesel engines quiet enough to pass the drive-by noise test that's part of Type Approval, so not needded for the petrol engines.
  12. I haven’t tried their winter tyres yet. But the summer ones are a great bang for the buck.
  13. Sorted it, tap and hold interestingly lets you drag and reorder the icons, but not remove or delete. Went into shop in the car, Park and fuel apps are ticked green/active but taping them in the shop then brings up "open" or "delete". Away they went
  14. 2 points
Yes I did check the other tyres. All at 36. And I’ve just checked the suspect one and it’s still 36. I’m thinking perhaps that it does have a VERY slight leak and over the last few weeks since I checked all the tyres its pressure has reduced to the point where it triggered the sensor.

As much as I liked / like my 1.2 TSI Elegance ('mine' for five years until June last year and now Mrs Bin's) I replaced it with a Karoq Sportline 2.0 TSI 4x4 DSG. The Karoq is without doubt the finest car I have ever driven. I remember cursing when I had to drive Mrs Bin's former car (a Ford Fusion) "It's not as comfortable as the Yeti, not as quick, not as quiet, stereo not as good, doesn't have climate control, doesn't have heated seats, etc, etc". I find myself doing the same now when I drive the Yeti instead of the Karoq. The Yeti is a perfectly fine car but the Karoq is more comfortable, quieter, actually has acceleration, is an utter joy to drive with light precise steering, the suspension soaks up the bumps, the 4x4 means it grips the road like glue, it has a better stereo, better speakers, a bigger boot, a heated steering wheel, heated seats that don't take ten minutes to warm up. The infotainment display is bigger and the rear parking camera is something I never thought would be so useful, I tut when parking the Yeti, "no parking camera". It looks better to that the 'box on wheels' look of the Yeti. Would never go back to the Yeti through choice. Still each to their own. I plan to drive this Karoq until they stop making spare parts for it. Shame Skoda have ruined the looks of the Karoqs with the latest update.
  16. @lewiswal47 many thanks for the info in the coming days I'll try your suggestion and report if the issue is resolved

Have you got them turned off in the 'menu'?
  18. I like that game as well And yes this is a genuine mileage, not been around the clock
  19. surely though *if* the vehicle has a towing weight stated on the VIN plate *and* the towbar itself has it's own CoC stating which vehicle it is intended for then it's legal to tow? Wiring harnesses & additional cooling(if required ) are effectively supplemental
  20. That is correct, it is separate... to some extent. As said - AFAIK most (if not all) cars without towbar prep have all towing related fields in CoC empty. It might differ from country to country, but in Poland at least it means, that you cannot legally fir a towbar in easy way. Probably "smart" way for manufacturers to sell you towbar prep. Thinking about towbar? You have to pay us for "prep", otherwise we will make your life harder... Prep and CoC are not legally related, but manufacturers (or at least VAG) made it related in their own way. Nothing prevents them from putting towing info to CoC for all cars, but they decided not to do it, easy as that.
  21. Oh and I've also been able to establish who has lived (or owned) this house since 1824 1824 - 1837 Robert Baxter (rented the property from WIlliam Green the original freeholder) 1837 - 1895 William Baxter 1895 - 1909 James Hart 1909 - 1931 Moses Lowe 1931 - 1941 James Pendlebury 1941 - 1972 Mary Ellen Pendlebury (inherited the property on the death of her father James) 1972 – 1980? Millicent Rigby (bought the property in 1972 for £100 and "allowed" Mary to live here rent free until her death in around 1979) 1980? - 2013? Jean & Peter **** (inherited the property on the death of Jeans mother Millicent however never lived here as they live in house on main road below us and used the house mainly as a storage unit) 2013? - 2014 Lee **** (bought the property from his mother on the death of his father Peter, mother still alive. Still owns the house on main road originally built by Millicent & husband in 1925 however rents it out) 2014 – 2018 Ryan & Elizabeth **** 2018- Present Mike *** & Gail ****
  22. For reference my house has been here since approx 1824 (the oldest title deed I have in my possession though is dated 1837), the other 3 are modern additions in 2018 . ALso to note, what is now the front of the house was originally the back , the front door was originally accessed via a footpath from the main road (one giveaway internally is that as you come down the stairs you go straight to what is now the back door. As for kids, currently there are a couple of young teenagers and a toddler and as I (think I )mentioned earlier what's nice is that we get very little (if any) traffic in here except the residents but I hear what you're saying Its really sad that we don't still have the original land associated with this property (shown in Red below), it all being split off originally in around 1913ish which is (as far as I've been able to work out) when the row of miners cottages that were opposite us and the smithy off to the left(& up) were demolished. The house to our right was built in around 1870ish by the original owner of this house (William Baxter) for his daughter when she married. Oh and there was also a small orchard to our left until around 1975 when some other new houses were built. Now all we have is the leasehold of the section marked (approximately) in green. Over the years the remainder of the land has been used variously as a timber yard, there's been an undertakers on here, a nursery and more latterly prior to the new houses being built a car showroom
  23. You need update to 306 or 308 first. Then to 324 or 330. An error 1550 no relevant appears. You can try Car scanner with a cheap OBD elm 327. With this you can do 3 codings in trial mode before paid mode.
  24. No, those words mean nothing to me but I'm intrigued now! It was the first ridiculous term I could think of that would hopefully not be taken as offensive by a sensitive soul, I know one member dresses as a fox so thought I would be safe with goat!
  25. Thanks very much Thud and special thanks to Breezy Pete. You're both a great help 😀. Plus AGFalco: You guys are the best!
  26. The gray is a blanking plug to protect the MOST (fibre optic) connector. It's used to connect to the amp and/or virtual cluster. As for the fakra connectors: - Yellow is USB. - Pink is the screen. - Blue is GPS. - White double is FM/AM and second FM. - Purple is GSM. The quadlock has pins for everything else, including but not limited to: - power - ground - CAN-bus - microphone - reversing camera - aux in - extra USB power - speakers (where no amp is used)
  27. All I can see on free vincheck sites is it's a blue Skoda Superb. Using the reg number, I found out that its MOT'd till Dec 2024 and I'd check the rear brakes😀 Cheers

Neither my previous 2015 1.4TSI nor my current 2016 1.8TSI had the bonnet insulation - I have also been told that it's only fitted by the factory on diesel models. That said I purchased the bonnet insulation and fittings for both and fitted them myself - took me less than 15 minutes.
  29. I have had two Yeti, 2x wheel drive 110ps they both towed beautifully, first my Eriba then my Orion. They carried almost everything I offered up including several Ercol captains chairs and all sorts of camping gear. It was quick, handled well, braked well and, I thought, looked amazing in and out.
  30. Unless both cars were identical spec, I would expect the replacement to need coding... Maybe refit the original, check the coding, refit the new one and code as appropriate?
  31. I've done all the process today, everything works. As I have the Nav already present I didn't lost anything durint the update from 0156 to 330. My Kamiq is a 2020 SEL, 1.0 DSG and is a follow up to my 2011 Fabia Elegance, also a 1.0 DSG, both of which have proved excellent (I had the Fabia for 90,000+ miles). Very quiet in use, good economy (I recently got 58.8mpg on a 43 miole drive, including climbing the steep side of Sutton Bank). Economy, too, is consistent with 52-54mpg being normal for any run of some distance, e.g. home to York at 44mpg. About town and on short journeys, economy still good, e.g. a five mile run at 43.4mpg. Driving is mainly local but with longer forays, time and health permitting to Norfolk from Scarborough. However, driving is usually me or me and my wife, so I can see the 1.5 being better with three teenagers up.
  36. Maybe even cheaper than anticipated..........
  37. Left Cluster Daytime Running Light - 3SL VRB36 Right Cluster Daytime Running Light - 2SL VLB22 These are the channels you need for the DRL's. This is for UK Vehicles, Right hand drive. I am not sure if the adaptations change when the vehicle is Left Hand Drive, Although I imagine not. So looking at channel 2. Theres no way to adapt it as such to only work with ignition on, That would be a wire/power supply job not adaptations, however you can change the operation of the DRL, Say instead of being a DRL, To have it come on only when the headlights are on. To do this, It would simply be a case of 09 Central Electrics -> Adaptation -> Leuchte2SL VLB22 -> Light Function A2 from Tagfahrlicht to Abblendlicht Rechts. Essentially tells the module to tell on with the right low beam, not the "DRL". Now, There are 3 extra channels in the adaptation, Type Of Load 2, Lampendefektbit Position 2 and Fehlerort mittleres Byte DTC-DFCC 2. PERHAPS these may help in your quest to stop flickering from occuring, but i have no idea what the last two truly do. Do so at your own risk, and take backups! Type of Load 2 is most likely to hold your answers - This tells the car what type of lamp it is. Xenon, Halogen, LED, Wattage, Etc. Maybe by attempting to tell it its a different type of LED lamp, this will fix the issue. Again, Do so at your own risk. I hope this helps you in your quest, it does sound truly annoying!
  38. PS Ford Eco-Boost. Brilliant. Needed to admit a Balls-Up quicker. Ford - VW Engines in a partnership now. What a coc-k,up. My pals service van has lots of thousands of quids equipment in to deal with these. VW Twinchargers. Engine of the year for 9 years. What a carry on. At least Volvo shorted things out, after Stephan Jacoby left VW to head Geely (Volvo). Mazda, fantastic, they had to become so, as they got stuff so wrong in the past. The tech was is great. Just needed snagging sorted. Mercedes, well that can be a Renault engine, etc etc.

If a 1.5 DSG SE doesn't stretch you financially it will do everything you mention comfortably in a reasonable tech spec. The Monte Carlo is a marmite thing for me. Love the outside don't like the inside and there is nothing in the drive to change the character from the the other models. We bought the 1.0L DSG SE Drive but typically only 1 teenager occasionally and it's fine too. I believe the DSG may be better matched to the 1.5 though and whilst not disappointed with the 1.0L I would go for that in preference but my other half does the needs vs cost accounting and it's her car really so I went with it. But to reiterate, it's fine and I enjoy it. You however, coming from manual may notice a 1st gear lag (D1) when pulling away in the 1.0L but if ever that bothers me I switch to sport mode (S1, 2 , 3 & 4) before knocking it back into drive and it is a different ball game.
  40. But you still need to keep the heat down. Remember manufacturers have been devoting a lot of r&d into reducing emissions so smaller radiators etc means less weight reducing CO2

I can say that about my Toledo, far and away the best I've owned. In to 10 years now from new, I'm after a little more newness now, is that a word and to keep in my old age. Glad you like yours, thanks.
  42. Does the vehicle location move when the car is moving? If not then I suspect that there is a problem with the GPS antenna (in the roof mounted shark fin) or the wiring to it.
  43. 1 point
Do you have a link to the ad? Older diesels tend to have problems with differential pressure sensors of the DPF. I’d also steer away from remapped ones.

I've had manuals all my life but when I got my Kamiq over a year ago I bought the 1.5 with DSG. Very happy with it, very smooth in auto mode and you can use it in manual mode if you wish.
  45. I would personally try 2 things. Firmware update And maybe erase and redo the map SD card
  46. Great news! So £150 for this eBay one,€115 last week for the eBay German one who doesn’t accept returns and then it’s just the paint work needs fixing, more ££. More expensive parking outside the house than parking on a red route in Kensington 🤬🤬🤬 Thank you everyone, best forum out there 🥳🥳
  47. We sold our caravan in 2020 but towed 1350kg with my 280 for almost 4 years before that. The 280 has a braked towing limit of 2.2 tonnes so I doubt your horsebox setup would trouble it. When towing I set the suspension and steering to sport - the stiffer steering in particular reduced movement caused by undulating roads (the A1 tramlines caused by lorries in particular). MPG was around 23 when towing. These days (now I use the car less) it's 28 day to day. I can't comment on the Audi but the Superb comes with indicators as standard too 😉
  48. Might pop the panel off on the passenger side airbag plastics and clean the plugs and contacts 🤔 Every time I clear the code it comes back the next day. Annoying. Very annoying.
  49. @chli @vegarz @ace_finland with the B201A error, u need to generate a code, using an XOR Calculator. This is generated based on your existing adaption value (Step #1), in combination with the decryption key, which in turn generates a new Key (Step #2) for you to enter (Step #3). below is a screenshot from a how-to document i created, which contains the steps to fix the B201A error.
