  1. @Stonekeeper Audi do not do an A3 electric, but whatever. Not ideal are they from whoever. Not to worry though if you do not have one or have to wait while they get charged up as you do not have a BEV. @Paws4Thot considering the Airshow turn out was discussed before and the lack of EV charging available but the park and ride was, why would anyone not believe the attendances? You are like at school back in the day I think. Sticking your oar in shouting fight. Snotty wee thing.
  2. the advantage of towing a caravan is that you can carry a petrol/diesel engined generator in it to charge your EV whenever you want.............................

Hi folks, New owner here. 2017 280 Sportline. DCC, Canton and a few other bits and bobs. Absolutely love it and as a bonus, the family do too. They really are such a capable all rounder. Feels special too. Been lurking about over the last month, gathering some info and asking questions prior to viewing. Great forum and some lovely cars.
  4. Hi all. Registered here some time ago but that was a when I hoped for a Superb IV as a company car..... far too long a wait so I got a XC60 PHEV. VERY rapid and actual real world consumption was not at all bad. Fast forward a year, company take over, 85 years work experience for the same company walk out the door......3 people, I'm not that old! Decided to take a work break and semi retire. Needed a car though!! £20 Grand lighter and I now own a June 2020 1.5 SE Hatchback. Genuine mileage, full service history and immaculate. Did I mention under 1250 miles per year? I have questions but I'll use the search before I annoy too many people. Then, it will be a man search, I'll ask them any way! Thanks for reading.

Hello 👋 just thought I'd check in as a new user. I'm currently purchasing a 20 plate Octavia vRS (petrol) estate, so having already viewed the forum in the past (usually being led this way after VAG related Google searches) thought I'd register. My current car is a 66 plate Leon Cupra 290. Previous cars ( from memory - some decent gaps and Clio was 9 years); Leon FR 184 RS Clio 182 Golf Gti mk2 16v Cavalier Sri mk3 16v Cavalier Sri mk3 8v Fiesta mk 3 Fiesta Xr2 (had it twice) Orion 1.6 Ghia Orion 16 injection Ghia Citroën AX GT MG Metro Audi 80 Quattro Fiesta mk1 1.1 (Supersport rep) Astra mk1 1.2s Rover 213 Astra mk1 1300s Astra mk1 1200s saloon Escort mk3 1.1 Cortical 1.6 Cortina Crusader 1.6 Cortina Crusader 1.6 Allegro 1.3 Think that's about it.

Yes, DSG is TVS stage 3. Ive always been interested in modding my cars too, and this one was the only sensible thing in budget that could pull a caravan too. I still get 21mpg with the van on the back, and i can live with that. I can still get high 30's to the gallon, if i drive like the grandad.....that i am. The kids love it and i see no reason whatsoever to change it. If it breaks, fix it and carry on.

    523bhp?? 😳Holy Feckin’ Feck!!
  9. can I just point out the irony of discussing "green" EVs whilst being parked up watching hundreds of KG of avtur or avgas being burnt off ;o)
  10. Maybe someone could build a hydrogen powered car with a 30kw battery that you can also plug in? We would need more than 11 hydrogen refilling stations though. JCB are looking at a fleet of hydrogen delivery vehicles to fuel plant.
  11. It definitely wasn't a phev because i asked if it was fully electric first before we got into where he had driven it from. he did say it was over £70,000 though because i remember thinking how much diesel the extra cost would buy
  12. I thought it was am A3 as it passed the window of our Caravan but it must have been this, i didn't pay any attention to it after i heard the range.
  13. Personally, I only class vehicles EV if they are solely driven by electric motors. So ICE REx, hydrogen fuel cell and of course battery. I think parallel EV are worst of both worlds. It's bad as EV due to poor range, it's bad as ICE due to added weight. Might as well go for 1999 Prius level hybrid so at least there's no pretending.
  14. I've heard that a battery affects ABS sensors. A duff battery can play havoc with electronics, but your issue seems to be a specific, consistent and isolated fault. Although some ABS sensors are "coil on magnet" types, like a guitar pickup, I think most modern ones use Hall sensors, and these are usually just an IC (no coils).
  15. Overrun = engine slowing down from high revs with throttle closed (foot off accelerator) this causes a high vacuum in the inlet manifold which will draw oil in through any leaky valve stems. Follow immediately by pressing the throttle, applying power so any oil is drawn into the cylinder and burnt causing a momentary blue or white smoke to be puffed out of the exhaust.
  16. I think you can find the list of people with VCDS (somewhere in the forum) and most likely they would be happy to help (you could offer them some drinks/beers instead!).
  17. My ice vehicle does use more fuel when towing but i can still take 1400kg to Cornwall from Lancashire without refueling When an ev can do that i will get onboard. Or if they get to 200mile and i see evidence that all the caravans on a service station on a Bank holiday weekend can recharge. Last year we went to site in Norfolk met a man with an audi a3 electric, i was very interested until he said he had come from Lincoln, recharged at Kings Lynn and needed to find a charger at the site.
  18. wire looms looking fine and being fine can be different things.. get a multimeter in there and start continuity testing them, in case theres any breaks.
  19. Came across plenty of Frogs this evening!
  20. The gray is a blanking plug to protect the MOST (fibre optic) connector. It's used to connect to the amp and/or virtual cluster. As for the fakra connectors: - Yellow is USB. - Pink is the screen. - Blue is GPS. - White double is FM/AM and second FM. - Purple is GSM. The quadlock has pins for everything else, including but not limited to: - power - ground - CAN-bus - microphone - reversing camera - aux in - extra USB power - speakers (where no amp is used)
  21. Colourful sunset earlier today.......
  22. Do you want me to code it for you? With OBDEleven. I charge Beer Money. Thanks AG Falco

You normally need 6-8psi pressure loss to have the system give a warning. That is how it has been on all of my cars with indirect TPMS.
  24. Firstly, a/ Take off each door card in turn b/ Carefully remove or roll up out of the way the plastic sheet (remember to put it back in place before replacing door card). c/ Inside all 4 door shells you will see a multi-plug for the harness d/ Unplug the two halves and inspect for any contact corrosion. e/ If they look ok give both halves a good squirt of contact cleaner and re-connect. f/ Finally carefully wrap the connector block in a plastic sheet using ty-wraps, paying special attention to get a good seal around the cable harness, this is where the water gets in. NB: What happens is water / condensation runs down the cable harness and collects in the multi-plug (these are not water proof) and causes corrosion on the contacts. Some owners have even found that on or more connector pins have completely rotted away. (Replacement pins/sockets are commercially available).
  25. Very interested in getting mine done. Going down the rabbit hole of threads and options. Don’t want to to do any supporting mods, with the exception of a potential DSG map to compliment it.

The hesitation can be fixed by changing software settings, i.e., throttle pedal rensponse, e.g., using obd11. The option simply changes the application of throttle from exponential to linear. Whoever drove or was a passenger in my 1.0 DSG was thinking it was a 1.5. My godfather also fixed the same issue on his SuperB — more about it in other article. .
  27. Thanks for the offer varaderoguy. But good news - out in the car today the sat nav flickered back into life and seems to be working perfectly - time will tell for how long ???

As you can see I've got the SE Executive TSi 110 DSG, I do too notice a bit of lag when starting from a dead stop, I have to be a bit careful when pulling out especially onto a busy roundabout (D1). Nearly got "had" last week because the stop/start had cut in, thats the first time ever since I got the car last August, always make sure now its switched off. Previously had a Ateca TSi 1.4 DSG, which didn't seem to have that lag, but suppose it was because of it being a 1.4 engine. Up to now I have not noticed another "Executive" about here in the Norwich area, what makes the Executive so different from other "top of the range" Kamiqs ? I am dissapointed when I see youtube videos showing Kamiqs with their full led tail lights ( some even scrolling ) even front led indiators too, heated windscreen and power operated tail gate. You'd think using "executive" would imply something like really top of the range, Fuel economy is very good I find.
  29. I'm over in the Scottish Borders if you need me.
  30. Welcome to the group. Nice motor - It's identical to mine
  31. Electrified. The Hydrogens do or will help manufacturers with the first registrations of zero emission vehicles. They are included. Electrified ICE are not. Helps with the Annual fleet average C02 though. Kidology.
  32. My five-year-old Samsung TV has the normal red and white audio out RCA sockets so I'm fairly sure your dad's TV will have as well. My old (2009) model Samsung had them as well.
  33. IIRC car manufacturers are required to make key components (whatever that means) for 10 years after the end of production - how critical that is depends entirely on the meaning of "key components". BTW Skoda stop updating sat nav maps only 5 years after the particular infotainment system is no longer used in production, so clearly they don't regard being able to find your destination as critical!
  34. The dpf is another good point. A bad map will likely lead to increased regenerations at the very least. Worst case it will block the filter in short time. A good map may well be cleaner than the stock one depending on how you drive so the dpf could last.
  35. Many thanks for this, I'd tried several times with the Skoda version from the portal but it kept failing at 60%. The VW version has updated fine.
  36. Nothing has appeared as yet. Not worried, everything is working well.
  37. PM send. Thanks. AG Falco
  38. Before you do anything else, does the car smoke at idle, and/or when picking up throttle off the overrun? If the answer to either of these is "yes" you likely have one or more worn and/or badly hardened valve stem seals. To expand on @sepulchrave half-@$$ed reply, to establish whether or not the piston rings are worn you need a 2 part test:- Dry compression test. Note the results of this. Add a tablespoonful of engine oil to each bore and repeat. If any cylinder gains more than 10% pressure in this second wet test, that cylinder has worn piston rings.

Saying goodbye to my Dragon Green Superb 220 Sport line this week, as I want to downsize and reduce my monthly running costs as a high mileage business user. I'm moving over to Lexus hybrid after 15 years of Skoda and a SEAT in that time. Had some mostly great times with some great memories of some fun cars. Maybe I'll return one day... Over and out.

As far as engine/transmission is concerned, - if you can, get a test drive of the 1.5 DSG. I had been a diesel/manual man for donkey's years, but then the leg problems of old age and the anti-diesel lobby's antics, led me to conclude that a complete change of drivetrain would be a good idea. I am so glad I did - the combination of the two is perfect for me and , despite the Kamiq's staid appearance, it can be quite a hoot when you floor it in 'S'. It is very comfortable for my regular 600 mile trip, economy is good and it is quite a relaxing car to drive. Have a test drive - you will be pleasantly surprised.

I've had manuals all my life but when I got my Kamiq over a year ago I bought the 1.5 with DSG. Very happy with it, very smooth in auto mode and you can use it in manual mode if you wish.
  42. not as clean as some on here!

  44. Where is your car parked when you're doing this, and how long did you wait after the factory reset? The signal from the satellites is very weak, so you need a 360 degree reasonably clear sky view to see as many satellites as possible. In addition after a factory reset the GPS needs to see at least 4 satellites with a strong enough signal to get any fix at all, and that fix will be very coarse until more satellites come into view which can take quite some time depending on how clear the sky view is (some satellites can appear very low to the horizon and be easily obscured).
  45. Such a simple job. Mine was blocked for a few years. A few days soaking in vinegar did the trick for me.
  46. Small update today - as it's now spring, the summer wheels and tyres are now back on, with 2 new Michelin Primacy 4's at the back fitted today to replace the oldest budget tyres on the car. No change to the front as the tyres are quite new even if they are budget tyres that came with the car!
  47. Further to the above, interestingly there is the water being retained in the area between the concertina webbing at the front of the sunroof - it doesn't seem to be draining off anywhere of its own accord and is just sitting there. I've attached an image for reference, I would have thought this area Should drain off somewhere too? Thanks again guys
