  1. I have that method filed under 'Urban Myth'
  2. Hello. I’ve had this car for nearly 10 moths now and covered 10,000 miles. Overall I’m happy with the Karoq and glad I purchased it. Especially the 1.5 TSI engine which is economical. Around town 38-42mpg and longer journeys have seen upto 52mpg. I still find the car to be good to look at, it’s red and I haven’t seen any other red sportlines in my area. Rare colour or not a popular colour? Last year we did two European road trips(hence the miles!) across France, Germany, Belgium, and Holland and despite having only 148bhp compared to my last Karoq(2.0 TSI 187bhp) I had no issues. Likes- The colour Economy is good Performance is good above 20mph Spacious Comfortable Practical Panoramic roof Good to drive Standard specification, specifically Dislikes- Same panel rattle as I had on last Karoq, passenger front door. Intermittent and only slightly annoying. DSG box at low speed. Very sluggish gearbox. Although performance is good and more than adequate(for a 1.5 TSI engine) I’ve been driving my wife’s Cupra Born V2 for the last two weeks, I haven’t driven the Karoq until today when she decided she wanted to use her own car…bit cheeky!). Getting back into the Karoq I do miss the power and urgency of the Cupra. Nothing else
  3. I said seems they might have, not should last. "Nissan says that while production is stopping this week, the car remains on sale and is available to customers as normal through existing stock. " Repacement is due in 2026, today is early 2024. 2 years is a long time for a product replacement with no production. In the UK, as you know, pure EV's need to make up 22% of their UK new car sales this year increasing year on year to avoid crippling penalties or the purchase of expensive credits from the likes of Tesla. I personally believe they have over produced either not anticipating the collapse in sales of the Leaf or maybe intentionally building stock to optimise costs/tax and then cut further costs by closing the line completely.
  4. £390?. Was that for the whole car? After all you haven’t posted any images of the passenger side 😂 Seriously though, that red is a refreshing change

Hi Keith, Yes I did!!! So a RS3 LPFP fuel basket drops straight in and all you need to do source the wiring harness from the states. There is no coding needed! Its the best solution for it better than trying to fit a new lpfp into the existing basket. AWD MQB RS3 Pump Hardware and Harness Kit – SC SkunkWerks
  6. Is it down to 2 years 20,000 miles on vehicles built after a certain date or are they making out on any? Generation 4 or 5. If based on how many failures there have been they have to take into account all there years of Official VW group approved repairers / main dealers only doing half the job at services.. taking the Michael actually.
  7. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/money/electriccars/article-13145329/End-line-Britains-mass-produced-electric-car-Nissan-stops-building-electric-Leaf-Sunderland.html?ico=mol_mobile_money Seems they might have over 2 years worth of new stock to tide them over until the replacement comes on stream sometime in 2026
  8. I think I would not use a high performance lithium ion car battery unless it was out of the car and only being used as a static battery. Lithium iron phosphate different matter as much more capable of thousands of charge and discharge cycles. My company, which I ceased being a part of yesterday but battery division goes on, its Lithium metal polyamide batteries, which are solid state are good for thousands of cycles but should be kept cooking at 50C or so. Lithium Iron Phosphate seem the answer at the moment ie do not mind being charge to 100% repeatedly, do not suffer as much deg per cycle of charge/recharge and aer cheaper. got to be worthwhile though, 50p a kWh but back in to the grid at least I reckon ie double money plus !

No. Current model. Don't think facelift is available to order yet.
  10. Bit late to the chat @wolfsburger glad to see you got yourself a nice SE example. I am on my second standardish Fab vRS. I had one about 11 years ago as a second car. Kept it for a few years then sold it for about the same as I paid. It had the seat surgeons leathers inc door cards. The polo dash drawer. And some other tasteful mods. Fast forward to my 50th and I wanted a 272/280 S3. Hard to come by and a lot of money. Have ended up with a standard very low mile 55 plate Furby again been about a year.. Needs some work. I don’t drive much these days but it would be my car of choice as the fleet is up-to 4 cars on the drive. I would love an SE though with heated leathers lol
  11. Mine has what I believe to be the original top up bottle of oil there.
  12. Why I'd written off the question off as a mib2 standard one, mib2 standard hasn't been updated since June 2023 so it's reached the end of the road and anything after V12 is as Pcbbc says above. Basically you got to run with old maps on a mib2 standard either way unless like that mib1 map Vag release an update is found by Russian boards (that one always used Here Maps). You would only be in luck on that if they reverted to Here Maps cartography on mib2 standard not the TomTom one. I suspect Vags TomTom cartography contract is dead whilst they have a Here Maps one which is what mib1, mib2 high and mib3 use. Why updates stopped a year or so earlier than we would expect on the 5 year rule (map contract). Skoda as we know runs 6 months late so their November 2023 release was actually the June 2023 release (old). For mib2 standard if you want Inrix on latest maps you got to hope Vag has a business case to dig out their old Here Maps mib2 standard code for producing these / the agents they use for turning this around. I doubt it's going to happen unless there is a fleet of vehicles that need these maps. Probably committed Skoda users that think only Skoda maps should be used haven't twigged the end of the road has been reached for mib2 standard maps... They will in June 2024 when no maps are released on the Skoda website 😉... 2110 V18 is the last release ever as things stand. V12 is the last one that you can get Inrix to work on as per the thread. It's remote that you'll see any new mib2 standard maps let alone with Inrix unless Vag has a business case to produce them and they revert cartography and dig out their old programs. We might be surprised... You never know. It's a wait and see, in the meantime modded V12 to get Inrix on mib2 standard... Basically what they found in Australia where they were customising Vag maps to work with their local TMC provider. The jump back to old maps came from them. It was perfected by Bigade1 / Pcbbc for UK Inrix to make it an easy task home task to do.
  13. Here you go then - mounting points are exactly the same but they do grip a little better.
  14. Originally for the fire extinguisher that could be had as an option, yes. I use mine for a spare bottle of 5w/40.
  15. I believe i've found the correct camera for the Mk4 here: https://www.cars-equipment.com/en/shop/cameras-parts/oem-5e3827566a-rvc-rear-view-parking/ but prices for fitting it seem ridiculous, the highest i've had was £845 which seeing as the part can be bought for less than £300 is just a rip off! Those nice guys at East yorkshire retro fit seem to be offering it for £495, but its a 5 hour drive away from South Wales 😞 has anyone found a fitter within driving distance of the valleys who is not wanting their customers to 'assume the position' ??
  16. Not sure what that video proves. He had to push down hard on the rod so it was a still functioning shock absorber. Was that fluid stain nearby oil from the shocker or just some water as further seen in the background
  17. Skoda UK have added a webpage on Octavia facelift https://www.skoda.co.uk/new-cars/teaser/new-octavia
  18. Yes, might be possible to nudge stick sideways with body, or an unbuttoned jacket
  19. Will add myself to this as have been lurking for a while. Just before christmas I bought a 2020 Octavia VRS estate, TSI, DSG in metallic blue - had one previous owner on 28k miles before I picked it up. Think its a fairly base spec and its a bit noisy inside compared to cars ive owned previously but other than that enjoying it so far.
  20. Yes I have and I can see that the leak is from the clutch master cylinder I don't go to garages I do my own repairs I'm just not sure on the correct part number.
  21. If you have the paddles does it still go into manual mode if you nudge the gear change lever to the left?
  22. An Octavia scout or any 2.0 TDI or TSI or Skoda car with Haldex has not got a 7 speed DQ200 DSG. It will have a DQ 381 7 speed wet clutch DSG where MCU failures are becoming more and more common. Globally. Check with a search of DQ381 failures. Not overblown on forums. VW would like owners to believe that though.
  23. Here is the News: the Bongs have stopped & the cd player doesn't ask for a running engine. It played a disc for an hour yesterday, and again today. The system has taken from 24/2 to 29/2 to fully adjust to the new battery. Thank you everyone for your suggestions & support, & especially to AGFalco for registering the new Yuasa battery last Saturday in Blandford.
  24. There is a Chademo to CCS-adapter, which some firms have devised, not sure how efficient or power handling or all te details but it is around. LEAF downfall was more about Rapidgate due to having no active cooling in large part I suspect. Despite that I really wanted one ie the 64 kWh battery size one which they could not supply and there was a question as to whether it would have a heat pump or not, 2021 models were suppose to get the heat pump as standard but this was the time of parts shortages. I did not get heated seats with my top of the range Zoe so had to fit aftermarket ones. The home batteries i to know the revenue I get from supplying the grid far outweighs the battery damage ie batteries only ahve 1 to 4 thousands charges in them so I want to making a few quid on every supply back to the grid.
  25. For a lot more light you'd be better off with something like this. https://www.amazon.co.uk/OSRAM-BREAKER-brightness-headlight-64210NB200-HCB/dp/B092JMZTDR?th=1
  26. Unbelievable shocking service from Skoda Grimsby and Skoda Morecambe 😔😔
  27. Electric vehicles will crush fossil cars on price as lithium and battery prices fall ...the world’s largest EV battery maker recently announcing it’s on track to cut battery costs in half this year, new research suggests the decline in EV prices may by happening faster than thought. Analysts think ICE (internal combustion engine) car makers are in for a rude shock, as EV prices come in below existing petrol and diesel models at the lower end of the market. ........Because key minerals needed for LFP battery production are cheap: Lithium, iron, aluminum, graphite and copper. None are rare, all are commodity items and easily sourced from ethical supply sources. Even the lithium is cheaper as it uses lithium carbonate, rather than lithium hydroxide.”
  28. But you are on the Mk4 group
  29. 1 point
Is that a facelift model then?
  30. AS far as I can see that wont work with the Mk4
  31. Is that a section broken off? 😮 You didn’t attempt the Dakar rally did you?
  32. If it wasn't chucking it down today I was going to install this Sinosmart plug& Pray unit (no coding required) I bought from Aliexpress for £35. Unless it clears up will have to wait until I get back from Scotland.
  33. Oil and filter change due on VAQ, front diff, fwd cars. Octavia MK4 now at 2 years 20,000 miles apparently. There are threads on the ones leaking or wrecked through lack of servicing. Links in the threads from me on service kits etc.
  34. @Rooted clearly that table above is out of date as the cambelt info is off. No mention of VAQ either. Assuming it's similar to Haldex, are the intervals the same for both?
  35. I did no know that, thanks.
  36. Impossible to find a 2024 price list or service schedule. I was assured that the filter/gauze had been cleaned though I doubt it was too dirty inasmuch as (been ill) I've only done 3600 miles.
  37. I worked with Drax many years ago on their proposals for biomass co-firing - specifically in relation to the transport and delivery of the biomass and the facilities for it. At that stage I seem to recall it was intended to be a mix of wood pellets and rapeseed co-firing...
  38. Some I would expect but not others. However, thank you for this rivetting list. I have other news: Bolero played a complete cd side for 61 minutes this afternoon, as it always has. I shall say no more......except - MORE please !
  39. My thanks go to @silver1011 for his advice back in 2016 while I was trying to understand the stop/start system. S.S. inhibit conditions. - High power consumption - this one can cover a few different things - from actual high consumption to low SOC or failing battery. - Battery temperature too high or low. - Engine coolant temperature lower than 22 deg.C. - Too great a difference between cabin temperature and outside. - Engine speed more than 1200 rpm. - Vehicle speed less than 3 KPH since last commanded engine stop. - Front wheel angle turned more than approx. 3/4 turn of steering wheel. - Insufficient hydraulic pressure in braking system. - Stationary vehicle on excessive gradient. - Drivers seat belt unfastened, drivers door open, engine hood open. Plus the usual, clutch, gearbox position for manual box, or equivalent conditions for DSG.
  40. I found this, it doesn't look like anyone has bought one yet. https://www.vagupdate.com/wireless-charger-for-volkswagen-skoda-and-seat-5NA980611
  41. R600 is a beautifully made piece of kit with a huge filter !! A loads for sale on fb marketplace. Filter easy clean and reasonably cheap to replace if needed.
  42. After 6.5 years, decided to change Gandalf's personality. Really pleased with how these turned out, and the fitment is spot on. Rotiform LAS-R 19x8.5 ET35 Matte Black finish.
  43. No... It's only for the amp and instrument cluster. I would be amazed if the software supported a camera over MOST. Use the quadlock as per the factory fitted RVC.
  44. sub wise i stayed sensible in a full fibre glass side sealed enclosure , 10 inch sub looks small but is mighty.
  45. I would definately investigate Darkside Developments based in Barnsley. They are amazing when it comes to performance tuning. Re: TDI engines. Your engine will probably make 190bhp from standard, but just to let you know that if you want *reliable* improved performance, the TDI engines probably won't make anymore than about 220-230bhp without some serious hardware improvements.
  46. Had this problem flag up on the M6 yesterday evening. We were up near Penrith and the weather was grim so I assumed it must be some water ingress. However, still no joy. Looking at hte image above, are the control units in the rear bumper? Or do we think they're mounted towards the front of the rear arches, perhaps behind the arch liners?

There's nothing like someone telling others how to drive. Brand new 19" 225/40/19 on our Karoq. It took around 1000 miles for it to settle down, it was never great tho. I'd been using the same right foot to drive for the past 40 years without issue. Stuck all weathers on the car after 2yr - no wheelspin. And it was still the same right foot !
