  1. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Applies to both of the above posts.
  2. A few from yesterday (@ Calke Abbey) Came across a few lovely vehicles too 👍
  3. I love the Superb MK3 with EA888 engine, I'm on my third model now, all Laurin & Klement. Awesome car and spec for the price. Initially I had the white L&K 280 with DSG6. I then changed to the newer L&K 272 with DSG7 and virtual instrument cluster. Was very happy with the petrol blue colour. Changed the alloys to 19''. Now I've swapped that against the last iteration of the MK3, back to 280bhp. Despite not being un-enthusiastic about the grey colour. It doesn't offend me, it's nice enough, but personally I find it a bit generic and boring (apologies to all owners of grey Superbs, beauty lies in the eye of the beholder). So I had it vinyl wrapped with Teckwrap Wilderness Green. Now I'm considering having it de-chromed as I reckon black contrasts better with the green than chrome.

    If everything works, it’s a mk3 🤣
  5. De Walt jobbie. But, cracked it - neighbour on the breaker bar, me holding the wheel 👍
  6. Normally all you lose is the clock time and trip mileage. There will be a few warning lights up on replacement but a short drive including steering lock to lock and they auto clear.
  7. I used the Action Can SP 90, it has no smell or a neutral smell. Its the same as the WD40 version that Graham used above I think. I know Wurth make one too but it has a strong after smell.

Thanks for the mention, it is handy, used it a lot, been a god send checking out potential cars and option list by VIN, I'm surprised it still works with GDPR as every other free reg checker doesn't give the VIN any more, can't remember how I came across it but sure it was from a BMW forum when I was trying to find options on a 330D, so all credit goes to the person that found it.
  9. Broke my Parkrun PB yesterday running 16:56 at Widnes (previous PB 17:55 at Ellesmere Port). Also ran a track mile a week ago and finished in 6th place with 5:02.2. Should have broke 5 minutes really. Next time.
  10. I just got back from my 1560 miles trip. I'll write about it up in another thread next week. Certainly didn't need 18 charging stops I charged whenever convenient, total 12 times but only 4 times took on fairly large amount (35 kWh or more, or more than 50%). Reality is people always need more breaks than the car. My friend in a diesel fuelled up at least 6 times that I know of whilst travelling in convoy. Of course, he stops at cheapest we find along the way, which isn't optimum refuel strategy for minimum refuel count.

Back in April last year I had the misfortune to have my car written by someone else, this started a massive car hunt for a replacement and some may remember I posted some photos of a white Superb which looked odd, and I thought that it might have been hiding something, I post these photos again here. To cut a long story short it was, at the time I had a loan car and the insurance company indicated that they wanted me to accept their valuation of my old car, and they wanted the loan car back. I'd driven well over 1,000 miles looking at other Superbs, and none of them lived to what I was looking for. I spotted this white one on Autotrader and as all the good cars had been snapped up within a day or two of being listed, I phoned the instant it appeared for sale, was told that the car had not been prepped yet so was not ready for viewing, so I decided to put a deposit down to hold it so when it was ready, I had first refusal, as long as the deposit was refundable, I was told yes. When the car was ready, I was called to view it. Off I went, with my son to London, when we got there the car was soaking wet from where they had just washed it, the inside was not prepped to any real degree, the car had its chrome trim put back in place and was hanging off in places, the windscreen has massive cracks in it, doors and bumpers had dents and scratches and the tailgate was very noisy in operation. The photos used in the listing never showed any of these, apart from the chrome trim was missing. I rejected the car, and then they refused to refund me as promised, I had a feeling something was wrong at the time, so I paid the deposit with my credit card for the extra security. My bank got my money back for me. I did some checks on the car while I was waiting for it to be prepped and discovered that they had actually used photos of the car, taken a year earlier, just prior to its MOT in March 2022 and the car had a fresh MOT on it when I saw it, that had already alerted me that this car was dodgy, and guess what, the dealer still has this same car on sale today and is still using the 2022 photos of it in the listing. I'm so glad my spidery sensors were working when I placed that deposit and not used my debit card, which I would normally have done. Tomorrow, 1st of June I'll have owned my current Superb for a whole year, and while it had 140,000 miles on the clock, it has proven to be a pretty good car overall, all the major items timing belt, water pump, brake discs, pads etc had been done, yes It's had a few minor issues since I got it, but is to be expected on a high miler. It passed the MOT again and breezed through the emission test, so all looking good.

My perspective - - hmmm, now that would be interesting I guess. However, there are things I'd rather not say lol , not due to any "Non-Disclosure" agreement etc, just that so much has changed since I was working that side of the service desk, that I guess a lot has changed. Thankfully one of the changes was being implemented just before I left VW. One of the changes what I assisted in bringing in to the franchise I was working for, was to service not only VW's, but to include all vehicles in the VAG.
  15. I think it's saying take the existing contact with red/blue wire out of fusebox position 5. Put it into whichever one of their supplied connectors it will fit in. Put the red/blue wire they have supplied, with the same contact type, into the fusebox. So effectively one wire become two, one (originally in fusebox) that goes to the clutch pedal etc, and the other going to the cruise stuff. Yes, pin 64 for diesel, as it says, in English.

OP I’m just about to move my Karoq on and have a brand new Leadstand scissor jack that I bought from Amazon. Hope this is the link; www.amazon.co.uK/dp/B0874QPPBR?psc=1&ref_=cm Still boxed although I did open it to check it worked. Believe the car I’m picking up Wednesday has one in which case it’ll be available. Cost me £25.90

I've got a spare impact wrench I don't really use that's all, a lot better when your at the side of the road in the rain/snow etc. I'll try find a local breakers for a jack cheers.

Cheapest would probably be a breakers. Nut cover removal tool etc. can be sourced from Amazon or the 'Bay. Rather than packing an impact wrench, why not get a breaker bar and socket - or one of the extending type wheel braces?
  19. No, country lanes where I live are 60 limits,. It is almost impossible to drive without moving side to side to avoid potholes and cow **** and silage. Edit. Sorry, just noticed Ootohere was responding to john1952.
  20. Yes, standing up behind your bum. Just pushes you forward a bit in the seat. It's the width of the seat, about 8 inches high and 3 inches thick. It was sponge that came out of a dining chair seat when we reupholstered them and had new sponge. Everything I tried that was bigger made it worse and the lumbar adjustment doesn't seem to go in far enough even on it's minimum setting.
  21. Same here - Having had my Fabia for 12 months now, it's becoming second nature every time I start a journey to a) press OK to switch off the privacy display, b) switch off the start/stop and then c) switch off the ridiculous "Lane Assist". Who was the idiot that dreamt up the idea of "lane assist" ??? Positvely dangerous feature if you are crossing over white lines a lot of times driving in towns. The sudden pull of the steering wheel is very disconcerting.
  22. Sorry but I'm not the best person to ask. Other guys on this forum are better placed to answer your question. Good luck in your search.
  23. No want to keep original to put back on when I sell it.
  24. All done, I figured the spool/reel window mechanism out, put it all together minus the little spring/clip on the door lock, and re attached the external door pull cable which had never been connected since i bought the car, and now it all works perfectly. The door opens from the inside, outside, locks, unlocks, the window goes up and down. Pleased with myself!!

  26. Can not translate them to Greek, no meaning. The factory takes indication from the coolant sensor and the after market from the lower hose, when the thermostat is closed of course shows much less, when the thermostat has opened and hot coolant returns to the expansion tank shows one click less because the lines on the factory are not so good in reading.
  27. Actual manufacturer of battery is not critical information - EFB or AGM, capacity in AHs, and a minor change to the existing serial number sequence (to tell battery monitoring unit that the battery has been replaced) are all that is necessary.
  28. My DSG has it. Left of the gearshift above the lock button.
  29. I used WD-40 silicon spray with straw applicator so I could poke it through the vent slats to make sure that the silicon got into the mechanism and less over the vents. 30. Yes these slimmed down mib2 high only versions were the preserve of Audi drivers only that got them on the paid mapcare subscription behind a pay wall previously. @pcbbc was familiar with them. The versions released on Skoda, VW and Seat were the combined mib 1/2 high release where they could be used in either unit. This release drops the mib1 high support but you must present all folders to the unit. The programmers have called the directionarys mib1 and mib2 but it needs both, just they got a rubbish directory naming convention. We had already seen a few months back the mib2 high only release of 370 in the Audi form curtesy of Russians boards and mibsolution.one. This file appears to be identical to that one except it has some additional checksums in it. The ones with the additional checksums are by country. I only checked the UK on these which demonstrated the early release of 370 was the same as this 370 for the UK once you ignored the additional checksums. VW must use a different way of manufacturing these files from the source materiel with more checksums or they changed their processes if it all comes from the same place. The main thing is not to get excited by the drop in file size. It's fine it's for mib2 highs only. Columbus, Seat Plus and Discover Pro and those Audi mib2 highs. Present all files as you have always done. You can use a Mac but you must use CleanMydrive to remove the Mac file garbage off the drive once copied before putting it in the unit else it will fail the integrity signature check.
  31. Working Download Links: I have uploaded the file to a couple of my cloud services, and no password is required. Give them a try and let me know if they are working okay for you. The first link will likely become unavailable when it hits a bandwidth limit so best to download ASAP. https://e.pcloud.link/publink/show?code=XZVfN9Zh62r0cJ7y4YQMaldlQMJxbP78tTV Hopefully this link should work okay: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rT0eItntrx6zeUz0dMAnzpBKL5Ktswg7/view?usp=share_link If requests become to much I will likely have to restrict downloads but for the time being I'll keep them live and un-restricted.
  32. The left analogue gauge in the console reads the coolant temperature between the expansion tank and the radiator. Always is one click less than the one in the cluster.
  33. First thing id do is test a different phone to see if its the phone issue. If not, being a brand new car - straight back to the dealer under warranty.
  34. The thing is @KenONeill/ AKA @Paws4Thot you can turn off the sounds. As for being where others are making the noises you can stick your fingers in your ears, that is just much like 'Blocking members'.
  35. Not too sure on details but from what I understand the battery invertor uses a heat exchanger that is also connected to the air con. On mine there was a leak between the 2 sides and the coolant and ac refrigerant we mixing and leaking. They have replaced the heat exchanger now so hopefully thats fixed it. As far as price goes I dont know as was done under warrenty but did have a quick look at the part and was around £900 if that was the right part.

Thank you @Gaz It’s been a good 14 months of Skoda ownership, a change from the Freelander we came from, but I can’t continue getting out the car with backache every time I been driving an hour. Going back to JLR with a used Velar P300 HSE R-Dynamic which hopefully should be as comfortable as, if not more so, than the Freelander which we had for many happy miles
  37. The cut out section for the head light will be a different shape I think.

  39. Your nearest Škoda main dealer is 200 miles away? Take it to any Škoda main dealer……surely there’s one closer to you than 200 miles?
  40. This link is to a 'fuel efficiency' test of the Tesla Model 3 with or without its aero wheel covers. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a30169467/tesla-model-3s-aero-wheel-covers-efficiency-test/ So, even if the Skoda expensive plastic aero inserts could add (say) 3% to your Fabia's fuel efficiency, you'd be most unlikely to notice that improvement just by driving the vehicle. There's a 2020 research paper here for combatting insomnia https://core.ac.uk/download/pdf/211225703.pdf
  41. Must be on the input/stalk side of things, since the same IC within the BCM powers the indicators whether they are triggered by hazard switch or stalk.
  42. I think if it were me, I'd swap the seat for one you know you'll feel comfortable in - the standard Octavia seat you refer to should be a relatively straightforward swap, and available from a scrapper. VW Golf ones may possibly fit too? Then, when you come to move it on, you'll have a pretty pristine driver's seat to go back in it. You have my empathy though. I had the same, donkey's years ago, with a Vauxhall Cavalier. And like you, it was the only car it ever happened in. Everything was fine on the 20 minute test drive, but after I got the car I found chronic back pain arriving at the 30 minute mark of every drive. I very nearly got a Recaro interior from a scrapyard, but when I went to get it, it had been vandalised with a knife. Nothing I tried worked and I got so disillusioned in the end that I moved the car on. Good luck with getting more comfortable. Gaz
  43. I would have thought that if it has been built then it's too late, without very deep pockets if at all at a later date. I think that there's a lumbar adjuster on the seat. Not never looked for it.

Hello and welcome, Tony! 😊 I look forward to hearing more from you, particularly from the perspective of someone who spent time on the other side of the service counter.
  46. That is what I drive, TBH I had never given it a thought as I am so used to compensating after 18 years of RHD in France. I have a specific problem of being blind in the left eye so cant see as far to the left and the straight ahead field of vision is narrower, when I take a Priorité à Droite I especially one at an acute angle I really do sail through without looking (Inshallah!) because there is no point, the width of the A and B pillars in the Yeti causes me a very large blind spot and I have to position the passenger seat and headrest to not add to the B post blind spot. The MK1 Octavia was fine, the MK2 terrible by comparison, the Yeti worse still, no different to any other newer vehicle and less of a problem for those with 2 eyes.
