  1. 1985 works fine thanks to @Rainesh 👍 1. Spotify can be displayed in full screen] 2. "show quick controls for apps" works fine now for AA [AA not as widget]
  2. My battery is still on its original one too, registered 2016. I always turn stop start off manually as part of my routine, but sometimes starting it is a bit sluggish, doesn’t help I only drive it once a week if that 😞 But yeah cold and heat kills batteries, so I’m suspecting this winter will be its last, I just hate spending money 😂
  3. I’ve just recently replaced my battery on my 1.5 TSI. The old one had lasted 120k and was causing all sorts of issues such as misfiring from cold and stop/start not working. When weird messages and EML lights come on the first thing to check on an Octavia is the battery.
  4. Close with virtual pedal - yes. Close with interior button - no. Close with key fob - yes. Open with virtual pedal - yes. Open with interior button - yes. Open with key fob - yes.
  5. Not if you turn it off. Pointless in any case having to indicate just to cross a white line as often there is no need. Turn it and stop/start off every time I start the car.
  6. send request to @Rainesh
  7. Have to ask, why were you covering the sign? Not obliged to answer🤐
  8. I had a Passat with start / stop for 10 years, 80k miles and it was still on the original battery.
  9. Another 6x150 Osprey hub opened today. 3 new Tesla sites opened last week, one of those open to all. A new Be.EV hub opening 7th November in Sheffield. (half price charging if you are around there for the opening day)
  10. Update: Both the main dealer (Mon Motors) and Skoda UK have actually been really helpful. Skoda UK has agreed to go 50:50 on the cost of the repair, and main dealer, Mon Motors have been a really pleasant surprise: communicative, reliable, open, honest. They've both been super helpful, called back when they said they would and they've fixed the issue. I pick up my fixed car later today. I cannot thank @Ootohere enough for your guidance and pointers - without which I wouldn't have had a clue - Cheers
  11. I guess it all depends on how long you intend on keeping the car for… if it’s for long enough the kids will be out of child seats, then maybe short term pain for long term flexibility? Even with my kids now 18 and 16, it’s still useful having 7 seats - they’re usable for short journeys but anyone over about 5ft wouldn’t want to go any sort of long distance. Also, has been useful in the past to have 2+1+1 when visiting IKEA 😂. As for saving money… it might be slightly cheaper to buy a 5 seat version, but I do wonder if they will hold their value as well because if you only want 5 seats, why not go for a Karoq? The exception is the iV as that’s 5 seats only…
  12. My 2016 UK model didn't have closing from the virtual pedal - just the keyfob (if you were outside the car) and the button on the boot. My 2023 UK model does do closing from the VP.
  13. Hi Stonekeeper, just wanted to say thanks again for your suggestion: that is exactly what the dealer had done when ordering from factory; they’d selected the tow bar with trailer assist which then forces parking pack to be added. They were insistent if I wanted tow bar I had to have parking pack and I would’ve given in. Thank you for the reply and the instinct

Exactly. But don't expect to see your battery at 100% all the time, which is by design. Thanks. AG Falco
  15. Possibly silly questions, but has the steering recently become heavier, are your tyre pressures too low, has the tracking or suspension been damaged?
  16. This concerned me too. When I first got the car I gave it a good blast home up the motorway and noticed it. Still does it now, car doesn't and hasn't missed a beat. So a bit of common sense and reading bits on here, seems it's just water vapour and nothing to worry about 👍
  17. To clarify, 18C is the lowest cited temperature offered, or I probably would have used a lower value for shortish runs when I was wearing a jacket.
  18. I thought about doing that I can give it a go and take the car for a spin see how it fares.
  19. After maybe 5_000 km, the centre or edge wear I cited up-thread would be measurable with a depth gauge.
  20. You won't be able to physically mount 6Y1959801 from a RHD car on a RHD mk1 Fabia. Only thing you could try is to transplant the circuit board across into the 6Y2959802. Not at all sure that rotation directions will be correct if you do though, but that can be changed by rotating the motor housing 180 relative to the brush-holder (circuitboard out first to avoid damage). Pic of 6Y2959802 from mk1 Fabia above a 6Y1959801 from a T5. (Both RHD): The mounting orientation is different between mk1 Fabia and all others, so the handedness is opposite. This shot shows approx orientation when mounted on door in each:
  21. Hello @Gondard, no that won't fit, it's a mirror image of 6Y2959802, look at online pics of the two. You need an exact match to that part number, for it to fit and work correctly in mk1 Fabia. In addition, the bottom line of the part number label, SK240DDRS, needs to be matched for a RHD mk1.
  22. Very small budget changes. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cdxl1zd07l1o For transport: Considering falling inflation projected, I'd have thought 2025 is the right time to scrap the fuel duty discount. Interesting nothing for EV's. I'd happily pay a slowly increasing duty for my use of EV. It is important introduction of any EV equivalent fuel duty is not a hit to the gut and thus affect the transition. I'd rather them announce something a few years beforehand.
  23. She says she will freeze fuel duty next year and will maintain the existing 5p cut for another year, too. There will be no higher taxes at the petrol pumps next year, she says
  24. Thanks. Fingers crossed this one'll get us to Northumberland and back, it's now booked in for a check next week. It's only been one occasion for the Error Message, and the stop/start worked a couple of times yesterday, so I'm hoping it's not that near a sudden cliff of failure.
  25. Hi All, @plamen_333 I wanted to update you regarding the recent issue: it has been resolved. The problem was related to the mechatronic. The transmission specialists replaced the mechatronic unit, performed a gearbox service, and completed the necessary coding. Also got a 12 month warranty. Everything is now working perfectly. It was indeed a costly fix.
  26. See what the budget in an hours time does for this. 6p a litre if the previously introduced 5p reduction in excise is scrapped as RAC mentioned should happen.
  27. Maybe check that p/n you wrote down, it looks like there are too many digits, maybe just "1" needs removing, I remember looking into VW small van steel wheel centre covers initially when I bought these Alcar steels for my wife's Polo, but had to give up and get a set of easy to clean, okay to look at, wheel covers. 28. So far so good, no battery level warnings in Scala.
  29. You can look through the manual for you car online. Don't worry about the VIN, just select previous, then Superb III. https://manual.skoda-auto.com/004/en-com/Models
  30. I only noticed the two above at the moment; I have no official info about changes/fixes in this version
  31. The giant clay mining areas of Cornwall and South Devon are a site to behold. We regularly would get the Dr Who film crew down there when they wanted an alien landscape.
  32. I finished with the buttons. The photos are not good because i was in a hurry to go to work plus i was in the balcony and the light was not proper.

Ive just coded the battery to the var and its changed from 70% and gone up to 100% so maybe the cars computer thought it still had the old battery in maybe ?
  34. Don’t wait too much with the battery. When it’s too weak, it’s quite sudden. On my former Mk2 Estate, all was ok and one day, Xmas tree lights on the dashboards. 😳 It was only 3.5 years old though… Probably from a wrong batch, who knows… I changed it on my current Mk3 at 6 years old. I didn’t want to play roulette when driving to work or dropping kids to school. Regarding the brake realease mod. It doesn’t deal with the Parking brake but Auto Hold. 😉 I confirm that it’s way smoother. I wouldn’t go back to ´normal / factory’ setting for sure.
  35. It’s likely there is a metal crash bar behind that area and the bumper may have moved with it since the impact. Not an expert. When I did this hot water trick on a Toyota it was all plastic in the area
  36. Understood, I’ve been doing similar. Mainly popping it into neutral before the revs drop too low in a higher gear on the approach to a junction or roundabout and then select the gear I need from neutral, shouldn’t need to be driving like this though! If you find yourself on an empty piece of road, iI’d be interested to know the outcome if you slow down in higher gear and shift down to 1st or 2nd, ie if it still stalls when the revs drop as you press the clutch to shift down.
  37. Since when is 8 not more statistically significant than one?
  38. Great to see this. Lots in Cornwall and some materials in South Devon too I think.
  39. Thanks for the answers. I googled it just after I had posted and realised that it is about directional tyre that must be installed according to the rotation arrow.
  40. Did anyone see this news 2 weeks ago? Could be our saviour with the growing trade war with China.
  41. I would use a Q-tip/cotton bud on a small part of the mark to test if any solvent/fluid you use won't make it worse.

Try here first. https://carista.com/en/blog/battery-registration-made-easy-ff5wxcivsg Thanks. AG Falco
  43. If you purchase a directional tyre, it will become either left or right...depending which way you fit it to the rim. Once fitted to a rim, a directional tyre will be either a left tyre or right tyre...it can't be both. So if you purchase a directional tyre that has been fitted to a rim so that it has become a left tyre, you would have to remove it from the rim and fit it the other way for it to become a right tyre, ie. a directional tyre can be either left or right but not both...depending which way it is fitted to a rim.
  44. Try a spray of furniture polish or wd40 ,but the perfume may have etched into the plastic .
  45. .. even on the FWD versions.
  46. I’ve a 170 bhp superb manual box front wheel drive Doesn’t know the caravans on. i came from a 2.5ltr 20v Volvo 850 and that guzzled petrol, the car had no torque so had to keep the revs up. it used to be well in the minus 20mm at times
  47. I would like some of those changes on mine. Stop / start definitely, Scandi rear side lights as DRL's, Audi throttle &, if possible, speed sign recognition in the Matrix. I can't justify the cost of a VCDS so will probably ask my Independent VAG specialist to have a look for me when it goes in for service next.
  48. Holy thread revival Batman!! Yep, after 18 or so months they are back. I wonder how many kettles and cups of tea they've gone through to get this far, lol. I can't see the vid on Rob's post so here it is. (hopefully not posted twice). It's been so long, they've made an extra long episode.
  49. You might be up for a record for the oldest non-spam thread resurrection
