  1. Just a couple of light snaps of my morning walk.
  2. Spent a few hours there polishing, got a loan of a friend's dual action and I'm in love, what a nice bit of kit. This picture will not upload the right way around, however: Paint is pretty far gone so just did my best to improve it. Tried out heavy cut first, then carpro fixer, then carpro reflect. Heavy cut was painful. Carpro stuff has so far astounded me, it's much easier to use than my previous Meguiars stuff. Way easier to buff off too. Paints far from perfect never will be bar a respray, which I'm not doing. BUT, it has come up decent, needs glazed, sealed, waxed etc which will help cover some of the wear. Bumper came up well, looked almost blue with how faded it was. Definitely going the right way so far.
  3. Wow, a lot of us have been waiting since December, give us your address and we are coming round to duff you up!! Really hope that you enjoy the car, can I ask what spec you went for
  4. Had a poke under it on the pit. It is as you'd expect. Body is there, suspension is fairly corroded. Was advised on mot and was told exactly what I was getting. Cleaned up the air filter (needs replaced really) Got some genuine toyota pedal pads and stretched them to fit this. Washed it again and pulled the hardtop off, not impossible to do solo, soft top was hardly used and needs to stretch to clip on. 2 small tears either side but nothing to worry about really. Pulled the plates off In preparation for polishing, getting a loan of a dual action to do it. Driven it for the week, engines sweet as, doesn't seem a lover of our 95 octane e10, use the same additive I do in the rest of my stuff which helps. Runs fine, just seems to run better on the good stuff. As figured it is a tad low, especially for where I am. But it drives well, not like I'll be able to adjust much given the underside. Did notice some oddness in the brakes, and found left front caliper is sticking, so will be getting a new caliper and new discs and pads soon. Calipers roughly 50 euro, discs and pads from mtec about £90 so hardly breaking the bank. Getting about 27mpg currently, suspect caliper and a few other tweaks will bump it nicely. E10 is definitely hurting it there however.
  5. Lulworth Cove this afternoon - a tad fresh and breezy: Gaz
  6. At least there're 8 ferries a day from Cairnryan depending on whether they go to Belfast or Larne. Maybe they could drop mine off a Dumfries on the was past 😄
  7. E mail from dealer tonight that they are expecting car in next week and what day the following week would I like to do handover
  8. Oh, and it has the Plus Pack. Can’t be getting my hands dirty opening a boot.😜
  9. Bought one last Thursday after a test drive. A stock car with the exact spec I wanted. Got my reg number on Friday, just waiting for a call from the dealer to say it’s ready. 😁
  10. Reading with interest. OP, You mention the brakes dont seem to retard the speed, and if you press harder then you start to get some retardation etc, Question, what type and spec of pads are you using? Sound like it may be "track pads or fast road pads or some type of performance pads" from someone like EBC (green, yellow, red, black.) IME these types of pads are not really suitable for road use, they generally need to be warmed and used very hard to get the "performance" the manufacturers claim and IMO, you cant really get that from just normal day to day driving, you will get squeel, glazed pads/discs and that worrying foot on the brake nothing happening sensation until you brake much harder ... why? thats the way they are designed. I dont know what pad and friction material you are using, but maybe its a step for a hint. Hope it helps 🙂
  11. Still looking good. 👍 Considering they were first released 26 years ago now, the old Fabia have aged really well.

Tell them to do the navigation maps update too. Those maps are over six years old. It was a long road - mine was delivered in Oct 2020 - but we are now sorted. It must have cost Skoda a fortune in warranty work (and VW, Seat, Audi). Once the local dealer stopped BS'ing me, we got on OK. This site was a godsend.

R5 back on the replacement list for my Zoe ZE 50. Drove a 150 hp one yesterday after driving the Spring. Spring surprisingly nippy. Being so narrow and on skinny tyres it does lean quite a bit. The deal breaker for the Spring was just the drivers seat, and the front passenger seat was just so uncomfortable for a tallish and biggish chap like me. I would struggle to drive this car for over 15 minutes without starting to feel quite uncomfortable. Otherwise car was pretty amazing in most departments for less than £17k and with very good finance deals etc. 150 hp Renault 5 felt quicker than my 170 hp Scenic which it is on paper and really feels so. The back seats are still noticeable short of space and I would have like a Frunk like the Spring has but the cabin feels quite classy IMO and the drivers seat 9 out of 10. Not quite long enough seat length to be perfect but I could see myself doing long trips ie down to Plymouth from Worcester no problem. I can see why this car won Car of the Year 2025. It is not perfect ie rear seat space and it "only" got 4 stars on Euroncap but a worth winner, not driven or even seen lots of other 2025 cars but it is a very nice place to be and for prices between £22.5k to £27k or so a good price to attract lots of buyers. Would like to see finance APR drop for 5.5% to 5% with the scenario of falling central bank rates but we will see what happens in Q2 and Q3 on the deals on offer. Zoe goes back in September and I will miss that diamond of a small EV but the 5 will be a good replacement and as a second EV to the Scenic.
  14. Hi everyone 👋, I'm one half of Scott and Alana 4x4 and at the back end of 2024, Alana bought a Skoda Yeti 4x4. I currently own a Land Rover Freelander 2 which we use for everyday life things as well as using it for some off-road fun. This is exactly what the Yeti will be used for too, but we'll be a bit more gentle with it on the off-road stuffs 😁. Whether we are out green laning or out on the drive fixing/modifying our cars, we generally don't have our trusty GoPro too far away. In this thread you'll find a mix of videos from our time owning our 2015 Skoda Yeti 4x4. So have a scroll down and see if anything takes your fancy 😁. Our YouTube channel was dedicated to our Freelander 2, but it's now being shared with the Skoda Yeti which you can see here: Scott and Alana 4x4 YouTube There is also a playlist of our Yeti videos that you can watch here: Our Skoda Yeti Playlist If you have Instagram, Alana does a great job of posting pictures and videos to our Instagram account in which you can follow: Scott and Alana 4x4 Instagram We also have a Facebook page that you can follow: Scott and Alana 4x4 Facebook I'll try and keep this thread updated with all of our Yeti videos with the newest video at the top 😀. 15. So I've done it yet again, I've bought yet another car, This makes it my fourth road legal car (currently). Considering my Mk1, the whole reason I joined this website is back in bits, again, (and still not finished) it is a touch silly, but I said that about the justy, and another car I've not bothered to make a page for. So here we go, a friend had a mazda mx5 for ages, not really used, long story short I offered to buy it for not much IF he got it MOT'd, he did, so I bought it. 83000 odd miles, 10(!) Owners (including me), not quite a looker. It is a pretty well specced car from new. A 2001 but prefacelift, 1.8 with LSD and hardtop with heated rear screen, that alone is worth the majority of what I've bought it for. Has some wheels on it, rainsport 5s on the front and old Yokohama semi slicks on the rear. Coilovers on it, pretty decent mid range ones with damping adjustment. It's not a show car, but drives better than any car I own, simply cannot get over how tight it feels. I did have to go to Scotland to get it, but wasn't far from the ferry,so made a day out of it. This is my first RWD car, although I have driven and "enjoyed" some before. Drove really well and was very well setup, it is a touch low for the roads I drive but so far no problems. Big radiator in it, hot air intake etc but otherwise it's standard. Engine is sweet as could be, slight weeping from somewhere but perfect otherwise. Got on the ferry and all the way home no problem. Being first Sunday of the month, the local car show is on, so, not bothered to go out and get the justy I took this exactly as it was. Packed doesn't describe it, a good time as always, funny I never bother bringing my one working Skoda to it anymore. Some questionable stickers on the back glass, may leave them, probably won't. Took it back out to give it a good clean, wasn't washed in a long time, moss etc growing, spiders made the engine bay and cabin their home. I quite like the wheels, they aren't perfect but a bit of metal Polish should clean them well. Light is fairly sympathetic here, but it cleaned up pretty well in all, was parked outside so paint is oxidised. These are single stage AFAIK so it will come up decent. Probably the one time single stage is worth anything. Pulled apart the boot and cleaned it, gave the interior a mild cleaning to get the rough off it. Gave the headlamps a rough Polish with a rag, they are pretty poor, and the lenses are very dull. Pretty good pic of the oxidation here. Found a lot of documentation for it behind the passengers seat, Owners manual, service book etc, even a diary of sorts from a previous owner. AND the badges that are missing from it. Pic of the interior, originally had an OEM nardi airbag wheel, which I got with it. Currently has a Momo millennium on a quick release. Very 2000s, I love it. Even found some buttons on a bracket in the glovebox, they go on the steering wheel, look like something from an early fast and furious movie. Has an odd mismatch of gauges, oil temp sensor (coolant temp on the cluster is hot when at operating temp) and a genuine smiths volt meter from an MGB, also got a boost and oil temp gauge with it, useful for other projects. Has a short shifter also, very tight, very notchy but makes an odd rattle when driving which I need to fix. Nice pioneer head unit, speakers are surprisingly good and meant to be original ones to boot. It has had welding done a year or two ago so for MOT purposes it IS sound. Some cosmetic areas I'd like to fix are the rear arches, not catastrophic yet, but will be a cut and weld job If I wish to pour money into it.
  16. Hello all. I bought a 2016 SEL 2.0tdi Estate in black, manual shift with 19" wheels when it was 2 years old with around 8k on the clock. It has been the best car I have ever owned in overall terms. Hard to better. Spacious, smooth, ridiculously economical, quick enough in real world motoring, and good to look at. So once it reached just under 50k miles recently I decided that the only thing to replace it was - another nearly new Superb! I have bought a '23 plate L&K hatch 190 tsi, dsg box. As expected, the tech is more up to date, but there are a few things that to me indicate that some costs have been cut along the way since my earlier car. My old car had lovely thick front mats with "Superb" embroidery. The new car doesn't. Just a small point but presumably a money-saver. The old car had cooling air in the glove box as well as the centre console. The new one only has it in the centre console, unless I am missing something. My old car had luggage nets, which I am not sure if they were standard or not, but I miss those. On the tech side, I made the mistake yesterday of turning down the setting on my heated seat whilst sat at some traffic lights. Immediately the navigation map on Apple car player that I was following disappeared and was replaced by a graphic showing how many lights were illuminated on the heated seat. This seems unnecessary to me. On the plus side, both front seats on the L&K are electrically adjustable and seem a bit more comfortable than my old SEL. The DSG gear box changes smoothly up and down , and changes can be made manually very quickly. In traffic I could drive more smoothly with the manual, albeit with more left leg action required! The Canton sound system is definitely a step up, but overall, I feel that the plethora of electronic gizmos such as virtual cockpit are very obvious, but they do not for me , and this is only my opinion of course, represent a step forward, and the 24 model with its "ipad plonked on the dashboard" as made popular by Tesla looks even worse to me. It is still a highly competent car of course. I would love to know what others think.
  17. I would. After all, it’s just going to cost you an hour of your free time at the most.
  18. Unlike my previous mk3 Superb the mk4 doesn’t have a removable panel on the end of the dashboard on the passenger side. The glove box was really easy to remove on the mk3 too and there were a number of bolts to choose from for the ground. On the mk4 once the glove box is dropped there are no exposed metal parts. There is a single bolt just visible through a narrow gap but it sits about 5 or 6 inches behind the fusebox on the bulkhead and it’s impossible to get to it to fasten the connector to. I think I’ll either stick with using the usb socket on the mirror housing for power and forget about parking mode or get a professional installer to sort it out for me…
  19. That's very exciting !!! Congratulations, I hope it meets all your expectations.
  20. Surely / Shirley is all fine and well. But it is as well reading the threads of those that had the 1.0 TSI,s with GPF,s doing high idle speeds. No GPF light on or anything. but the High Idle speed and car running away from them. Not a regen which is done with high temp and lifting off the accelerator and during deceleration.
  21. We have had these same tyres (slightly bigger in size) on our Freelander 2 for a year or 2 and we love them on both the Freelander 2 and the Yeti! 😀 We do have a road set of wheels and tyres for both cars in case we do any serious miles on just the road but we have never fitted them to date 😄. Not that the Yeti is at all crashy over the bumps, but the bigger tyres have made it less-crashy than what it was if you get what I mean 😁. The edge protectors on the all terrains will help a small amount when it comes to fending off those sharp edged pot holes. In the dry they grip perfectly fine unless you're driving like you're on a track day and you'll start noticing the limits 😁. In the wet they also grip really well but a decent road going tyre will always grip better. We haven't noticed an alarming wear rate on the set we have on the Freelander. They will wear quicker than a road going tyre as they are a softer compound and the tyre is more flexible overall due to their off-roading characteristics. You do compromise on them not lasting so long, being a couple of Db louder and not being quite as grippy on-road. But the upside is they work really well off-road which is obviously where they are going to shine compared to an all season road tyre 😁. If you want a tyre for road use that might put up with a few miles of light green laining, get a good quality all season tyre. If like us, you plan to do a good few trips off-road, get a set of Falken Wildpeaks, Toyo Open County, General Grabbers or BF Goodrich if you can afford them 😁. Here's a video of what we put the Wildpeaks through with our Freelander 2. Obviously they won't he stressed quite that much on the Yeti 😄. I've also done a tyre review before we bought the Yeti 😀.
  22. As Hamlet said ... "ay there's the rub" tom
  23. Thanks for the link for the supplier. How are you finding the new wheels/ tyres, I assume the ride might be improved given the bigger sidewall? How are they in the dry? I noticed they are M&S rated but they then state they are true all season tyres tyres? I’m slightly concerned the wear rate once temperatures begin to rise.
  24. No comms with ECM means no power, ground or CAN connections to ECM or failed ECM - best to get a wiring digram from ERWIN and trace fuses and wiring.
  25. Thanks Guys. Just tried it with left mirror selected and that worked. 😎😎😎
  26. I meant, if you selected left or right mirror, then in reverse the selected mirror should lower itself. If you have mirror knob on neutral or heating position, then it will not engage if I recall correctly.
  27. Ah... I've never noticed that when I've been over visiting the MIL and we've been tripping about but then I've probably always filled up in the north before heading off. Something to just keep an eye on them over time??
  28. To see if your car needs the update, just try leaving your key in the car. Make sure You have the spare handy, just in case. How do I know this……..!🙄
  29. Some of you will know that I currently have a thread running over here detailing all the modifications and adventures Alana and I are having with our Skoda Yeti. https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/530881-scott-and-alanas-yeti-4x4-modifications-and-adventures/ A few weekends ago, we set out to service our Diesel Skoda Yeti 2.0L CR170 and took out the camera to show how we went about doing it 😀. I've split the main video (which you can find in the thread above) in smaller videos for each of the serviceable items which might be handy for you if you fancy servicing your own Yeti 😀. Changing The Air Filter: Changing The Cabin Filter: Changing The Diesel Filter: Changing The Oil And Oil Filter: Resetting The Service And Inspection Interval:
  30. In this video, Alana takes to the tools to service her Yeti. With both of our cars we generally do the oil and filters every year and change out the diesel filter every other year to hopefully keep it all nice and fresh 😀.

No I never had any issues with mine. ŠKODA Australia used to have the replacement of the Siren as part of the 6yr / 90,000km service. They no longer replace them as part of the service, as you know the price of these are very expensive. I located one from a "wreck" newer vehicle and just replaced it myself for minimal cost.
  32. The tears will leak into the car but are easy to repair from the inside. As for E10 be careful there as there are odd reports of hoses failing due to the high ethanol content. I've switched to E5 on my Mk1
  33. Good point regarding the insurance and helpful to know that the speedo is accurate. I’ll have a look online for wheel and tyre suppliers and pricing.
  34. Thanks everyone for your input. An update. Took the car to the dealers Thurs 6th and went for a long road test with their technician, 20 plus miles in order to get it on a dual carriageway with long sections with no roundabouts, lights etc. The technician experienced the fault for himself saying that he could feel the restriction in the steering as if it was sticking. Left the car with them and later in the day they phoned to say they had found a fault and and Skoda apparently had a fix for it. They were waiting for Skoda Technical to respond to them. Left the car with them overnight as I had nobody to give me a lift availiable and the dealership is awkward to get to on public transport. Skoda still had not responded by Friday lunchtime so went and got my car back. I'm assuming it's a software fix and hopefully we will get it sorted early next week. My dealer, I think is the largest Skoda dealership in the North East and is a family run businesses with an excellent reputation so I believe they are trying their best to sort this. Thanks.
  35. It was like that in MIB3 infotainemnt in all VW/Skoda/Seat models that used it like Octavia4. It is not related to Carplay or Android Auto. Incoming call could be answered by clicking OK button on the steering wheel but there was no option to hang up with same or any other button. Ending a call was only possible by touch button on the infotainment screen. I havent tried the new infotainment in Superb4 but if it works like in previous cars then this was by design for some reason which is WTF really.

Having replaced the Siren in both my Passat and Superb, you are in the correct location. Base of the windscreen, in the plenum chamber, remove the plastic cowling and you will see if front and centre. If it is not there, possibly, you do not even have an alarm system, as that is the ONLY location for it on our cars.
  37. Finally got round to ordering these and they are a perfect fit. I got them from Amazon - 3397014871 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0C9QDHDLY?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

The interior monitoring alarm + battery is located at the bottom of the b-pillar, behind the trim.
  39. Excellent YouTube videos. Love the wheel and tyre combination, I was thinking about putting all season tyres on the standard rims but I’m now thinking what you have fitted looks better. Has the change in size affected the Speedo reading ( save me doing the calculation)?😀
  40. If you can’t get the ABS to cycle you don’t need larger discs - you need to get the system repaired. If it’s not air in the system or contamination then next best guess is the servo. FYI - increased pad/disc surface area won’t make you stop any faster. They might give you a bit more bite, but going from 288mm to 312mm is pointless, and 340mm won’t be possible. As said before, all you’d be gaining is heat resistance - not an issue in a Yeti. Certainly, I wouldn’t be driving it all that far until you have it sorted.
  41. I had a 2016 L&K 280tsi and now I have a 2023 L&K 280tsi. So I know where you are coming from. Yes the little details like no cooling air.. well in mine there is no cooling air in the centre console either! But then again, it wasn’t something I needed or used. The heated seats thing - if you have ventilated seats as I do then pressing the button pops up the display and allows you to select between heated and /or ventilated. But whatever was displayed before doesn’t disappear, it just dims. If you touch the screen again it all goes back to normal, so I don’t find it too annoying. A few things are worse (satnav is terrible, no volume knob) but lots of things are better including the matrix headlights, heated steering wheel, faster warm-up (aux electric heater), the 7 speed DSG (apart from the mapping), Kessy on all doors. So overall I’m quite happy. Agreed, the stupid bolt-on iPad on the mk 4 is ludicrous and once Mr Musk gets his comeuppance, I predict the fad will disappear rapidly.
  42. Had a trip to Marwell Zoo today, came across this Village Weaver in the aviary…
  43. I used to have a 2.0TDi and now have the 2.0 TSi, I haven't driven the 1.5TSi. The 2.0TDi was good but I find the 2.0TSi absolutely brilliant. OK the mpg is about 30 round town and 40-45 on a motorway which is obviously less than the diesel but it is fun and the acceleration is great. I retrofitted a towbar on the diesel and have a factory fitted towbar on the 2.0TSi. The retrofitted one was fine but if you are towing be careful with the oil temperatures. On the diesel, and I was only using the towbar as a cycle rack carrier, the oil temperature would get up to 113 degrees or more on a hot day. On the 2.0TSi, because the towbar is factory fitted and it includes an enhanced cooling system, the temperature never exceeds 99 degrees.
  44. The politics will kick in before that with tariffs etc, it'll just mean higher forecourt prices, the established brands will put up their prices as well. I think for me cars will be the equivalent of a washing machine, I'll buy (probably lease) the cheapest thing that does the job. If they all look cheap and nasty why pay a premium? We'll inevitably get an electric but it'll be nothing special as I will no longer care. If it autodrives so much the better. I'll get a classic for the garage as something to enjoy.
  45. 4 years down, both as a member and an owner of this wee car.

I think it's all been said. If the clearcoat and the paint are gone then it's about building the layers back up. If it's black or dark grey in the pit of the scratch then you are through to the plastic. So first a good clean and a wipe with alcohol. Then (cocktail stick is good used as a pen) some of the colour in the bottom of the scratch. Let that dry then apply some clearcoat. Build it up in layers slowly and don't do it on a damp day. If you let the last layer go slightly above the surroundings then you can polish it back once it's dry. (and I mean really dry.) If, as has been said, the scratch is white then it might polish out. TBH nowadays I get a mobile company like Chips Away in.

Here's my troll, again, taking a position without enough info on the particular issue and twisting what I've put, the clear coat comes with the touch up, if you need to add paint then the clear goes on top and the two come as a pack. Yes filling a scratch with just paint will stand out. But this all depends on whether the scratch can be polished out or not which really needs looking at in the metal, a photo might help a bit or it might not. I've polished out minor small scratches on wings, doors, bumpers, door mirrors, etc. on our cars, friends and neighbours' cars over the last 25(+) years with success. If the scratch is too deep or it's part of a dink there might be a fail or only partial success. It doesn't take much effort and time to find out if you can polish out the scratch and if you can't not much lost and unless you've been careless it'll not make things worse. Sometimes scratches are not actually scratches in your paint (paint used as a general term here) but a transfer of whatever has touched at that paint so is actually only on the surface or not too deep into the surface so easily polished off. Dealing with minor small scratches is not a workshop, specialist, involved job otherwise it'd be well beyond me but if you want, or you think the scratch you have needs it or you want more involved info you could look at and ask in the Styling and Car Care forum. - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/8-styling-and-car-care/

  50. I have a similar impression that the lane assist is quite passive until you reach the extreme, although its my first experience of Skoda lane assist. For me this is a good thing & I really like how it is implemented. When I am driving you feel nothing from the system until you drift next to the line where you have first a vibration before the assist tries to steer you away from the line. When in ACC and you relax a bit more, it is good at maintaining the lane without feeling like you are jerking left and right. My previous experience was in Volvo & Mercedes where both systems were extremely tiring to use especially for long journeys because they were very aggressive and always strongly intervening even if you were well within the limits. In a recent 3h trip in the Skoda, I barely noticed the lane assist was active which for me is exactly what I expect of an assistance system.
