  1. A few from today..............
  2. After dithering for many months, I finally bought my first Skoda - a 2014 Octavia 2.0 TDI 4x4 "Tour de France" special edition. High mileage at 140k, but a single lady owner, lots of history, and the car is as new. Absolutely amazing condition . Just thought I'd introduce myself as I'm sure to be asking for advice soon! First step will be to get it serviced, including the haldex, then a set of new all season tyres. I'll post some pics after collecting it.
  3. Magic potion sees oil leak and seals it (maybe). Magic potion sees small passageway in oil system and seals that too. New car time.

I have some 6.5inch Alpine Speakers that I was thinking of using to upgrade my daughters Citigo. The speakers have a protruding part which means they are not completely flat fronted. Will they fit? Secondly I have a sub which I was goining to fit under the passenger seat. This either connects to the speaker outputs or via RCA plugs. The factory stereo only had front speakers so I was going to plug into the rear outputs to save splicing wires. Does anyone know the type of plug and connector I need to go into the factory plug? Thanks in advance Chris

Have the Canton in my Karoq and it is worth it to my ears. Had an Octavia and Yeti both without and a long as you get the settings right on it it makes it worth while. Run out of volume on Octavia and Yeti but no on the Karoq. The car has lots of stiarage areas so missing out on a small cubbyhole on the dashboard is hardly a scarifice. Plus you get a spare tyre in the boot which is a nice bonus.
  6. Quoting the above, do not use options as a reference guide for FL models. Some have it, some don't. The changes are pointed out by travs above, front end is unmistakable (uglier in my view, I liked the big fogs), as well as the 6 to 7 speed change.
  7. Hello there. Im Alex and i have a Skoda Scala 1.0 G-tec 2020 model. Its the ambition version and i chose this model with natural gas for the economy of the cng. I bought the original bodykit from monte carlo and the emblem and letters in black. I also bought eibach sportline springs -45mm and with the new wheels OZ racing Superleggera iii the car really tranformed. After 60.000km and when the guarantee was over, was time for a little tune to the engine, just to wake up a little. Pipercross air filter with racingline turbo inlet elbow, full custom exhaust and remaped. Now the car is more enjoyable and fun to drive. My next mod the st xa suspension and i try to figure out how can i install bigger brake setup.
  8. Sorry my mistake, on a closer look yes three plates/fingers to each, the combination of my poor eyes the image and my faulty brain show four for me, I see I was totally wrong now. It's just that I and others have had so many copy/reproduction or alternative parts in the past that are not made as original and can cause issues with fitting and working. My mistake.
  9. Yes, this I recieved complete mirror with cable. Only carefully you car must have dimming back mirror (I don't know exact name in english) inside car. This mirror sending info to door mirrors + correct equipment, side assist or area view. Exactly what you have now on car, because connector could be diferent :) But I think on LHD, your driver mirror have dimming function.
  10. Somehow i see only 3 plates in both pumps, i linked those because it was more convenient at the moment, my own pump is in the images below, and it also has 3 plates. To me it seems like its a good fit, i was just wondering if someone has used such pump for Felicia.
  11. If you do a lot of night driving the FL is worth it for the Matrix LED alone.
  12. Sorted now , drove 100yds and all back to normal
  13. It is in the topic but as I remember folders data and meta should be in folder named by fw, not in root of drive.
  14. You could try taking it to a place that has an MOT bay with a shaker plate, most likely found in a place that does light commercials and motorhomes (and ambulances !). With a good operator these can detect slight play that traditional pry bar techniques can't.
  15. Of course co2 is harmful in excess, being heavier than normal air is handy for fires like on board ships when you can seal a hold and flood co2 into it, it cuts off the oxygen so essential for normal fires. in such situations it is impossible to survive in a flooded hold without breathing apparatus, equally it is also ineffective with Lithium-ion battery fires because they produce their own oxygen and can still burn perfectly well in such situations. It would also help not to go around the globe chopping down huge, great forests which actually eat vast amounts of co2 and turn it into the other essential gas we all need oxygen. Yes we also need wood for all kinds of things, but we (humans)are not replacing forests at a fast enough rate, it will take many years before a newly planted forest will digest anywhere near the amount of co2 that a well established forest does.
  16. Spend an summer afternoon in a greenhouse, or pip over to Venus, 90 atmospheres of pressure, 400 C. What happen with gree house gas co2.
  17. Eibach R16554 is sold to replace 5Q0511115Q and 5Q0511115R, so probably matches 5Q0511115R. 5Q0511115R is just one down in the hierarchy compared to 5Q0511115S (eg. Eibach R19953). A lot could depend on how much weight you carry over the rear axle. If the Eibach R16554 did prove to be too soft, then the Eibach R16554 could be changed to the Eibach R19953. Whatever you fit, it's worth taking careful measurements of the new front and rear springs before fitting them. Then if the front or back proves to be too high or too low, this information should help find suitable alternative springs. Measurements I would want are the uncompressed length, the coil spring diameter, and the number of coil turns...maybe even the weight in kilograms.
  18. Thanks @Mickvrs220 That tallies with what Facilities manager told / showed me on his tablet. Opposite to what our manager told me ....... Thanks again mate.
  19. Of course when I Googled it that wasn't the definition I found for programming but something that on Googling again I couldn't find ( ! ) but listed was https://support.obdeleven.com/en/articles/5627138-what-is-one-click-apps-oca-builder-and-how-to-use-it (these computers just like messing me around. When I referred to them of wasn't thinking of OBDeleven particularly but other scan tool programs that are more straight forward than VCDS. I know of the "try this" scanner user forums and programs and of course it's a "try this - at your own risk and do a back-up to restore to before doing any alterations". You probably already know that Briskoda has threads and posts, or links, for such stuff for OBDeleven and VCDS, found in 'Diagnostics & VCDS' forum and individual model forums. 'Diagnostics & VCDS' - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/23-diagnostics-amp-vcds/

  21. Lots of things changed with the facelift. Main cosmetic ones to quickly identify I’d say would be Front lights/bumper changed, rear lights updated with chrome strip across the boot lid. Changed from emblem to SKODA letters across the rear. As for digital dash, it went from option to standard in some models - pretty sure it’s standard in facelift L&K but seems to have been an option pre-facelift. Same with 280 sportline plus - was sure I’d seen some with and without but not sure on whether it changed as part of the facelift.
  22. Just recently purchased a 22 plate SEL 1.0tsi with this awful covers on, got them off asap and put centre caps and nut cover on, looks so much better, they have damaged the wheels when they have been taken off before but its not too noticable. The wheels were awful in terms of brake dust etc, i really do not understand the attraction of them. When trims were popular they were placed on ugly steel wheels to cover them up, i get that, it makes sense. But to then cover up a lovely set of alloy wheels just makes no sense. They have gone, and will never come back.
  23. Interesting, thank you! Ill take a read. I have the PRO subscription and as such I do all the coding and adaptations myself, however I did try one One Click App maybe 2 year ago for "Urban Pace Joker Lights" and it epically failed, just threw up some light errors on my dash - so i just reverted it. I've never heard anybody say to me a OCA has ruined their car. EDIT: The issue is that cars of the same model can have different variaties of everything, but usually the same BCM so the coding would exist and be accepted by it. Most OCA's will specify what you require for it to work but some don't - so a person unknowledged on their car may perhaps use an app for comfort opening of their sunroof, when they infact dont have one. But the app'll work!
  24. ETA: Just been posting about OBDeleven (I use the letters instead of numbers to save confusion with OBD2 at a quick look/glance/read) I have seen some scan tool users post caution against the use of one-click how do you find OBDeleven for one-click programming/use, has it balls'd anything up for you?
  25. @lewiswal47 have the following pdfs for some delightful reading (note how far back they're from). Same as engine (and transmission) oil, for battery and battery charging there are camps of beliefs, sometimes strongly held. SSP-234-Vehicle-batteries.pdf SSP-426-Start-stop-system-2009.pdf SSP-504_Vehicle_Batteries.pdf
  26. The costs quoted must be how much it cost for the Tesla during driving & filling up at the end, and filling the BMW up. (No idea how much it cost to be fully filled up or charged before starting off.) Charging at Lands End will not be cheap if not a Tesla Super Charger. Nice when you get to a Super Charger that it is plug in immediately and get to your eatery and all the time is charging. No queuing on an Easter Holiday weekend etc. £39 if 50 Pence a kWh is 78 kWh, 440 miles would be 5.6 mile a kWh. £39 if 45 pence a kWh is 86 kWh, 440 miles would be 5.1 mile a kwh. If you were paying 70 pence a kWh and getting 5.1 miles a kWh that is £60.20 Other than a Tesla, maybe getting 4 miles a kWh and paying 65 pence a kWh, 17.6 is 110 kWh. £71.50 Diesel 144 pence a litre. £6.54 a gallon. 440 miles with 50 mpg is 8.8 gallons. £57.55 440 miles with 55 mpg is 8 gallons. £52.54 440 miles with 57 mpg is 7.7 gallons. £50.36 No idea the actual costs for the Diesel as it could be less than the average with the chance of buying at cheaper places. Like the Tesla might not be always getting to Cheap Time Super chargers.
  27. @EnterName Will be right. (Right Wing.) It is a Leftie Woke Internet myth about Carbon Dioxide. It obviously falls off the edge of the flat earth so can not be above the earth.
  28. CO2 does NOT cause damage to the climate.
  29. It’s fairly easy, but can be time consuming if you’ve got a big library, more so if you have pro levels of ocd and like it all to be perfect 🤩 Maybe experiment with a spare usb stick in case you get lost along the way
  30. Interesting, I was told by somebody from Skoda that the button will change this - obviously this may not be the case it seems. I would have thought that when stop/start is disabled the car may allow the battery to charge more fully, because it no longer needs to maintain a buffer for restart events. I have often found better battery charge when driving with S/S Disabled compared to when its enabled (but not functioning); perhaps these are just coincidence? I'll take some readings later through obd11 to see if the voltage really is any different with it on vs off!
  31. Pls share VIN and part number of the unit you bought.
  32. Kilen lists the Octavia MK3 2.0TDI 4x4 with automatic DSG gearbox as having 5Q0411105HF front springs. 5Q0411105HD are softer than 5Q0411105HF. The alternaive to 5Q0411105HD is 5Q0411105HC, but that spring is softer than 5Q0411105GL. Eibach R16554 are about 10% softer than your current standard ride height rear springs, which I suspect are 5Q0511115H. The actual lengths of springs will often turn out to be slightly different from what the manufacturer claims. I once purchased two springs with the same OEM part number but they weren't from the same production batch, and I noticed that their lengths were about 10mm different. Fortunately, the parts guy gave me an immediate refund and he ordered in a pair of springs that were from the same batch. Bear in mind that stiffer springs compress less (and softer springs compress more) under the weight of the car, so that too affects the unladen ride height...not just the uncompressed lengths of the springs.
  33. hmm, I have three identical ones, you'd think the passenger side would be different. If it comes to it I can get some underlay and cut it to SOME shape that fits more or less. This stuff is the last soft fabric that still has smoke in it, so tracing it onto new underlay is probably the best idea.
  34. To large storage. Try 4 gb.

As you can see below, dtintecno claims that the 1.2TSI 90PS/110PS engines remap to the same power/torque. dtintecno claims 130PS/215Nm for a remap on the 1.2TSI 90PS and 110PS engines. dtintecno claims 145PS/250Nm for a remap on the 1.4TSI 122PS engine. dtintecno claims 155PS/270Nm for a remap on the 1.4TSI 125PS engine. 140PS from just a remap for the 1.2TSI engine sounds like an exaggeration. This isn't a recommendation for dtintecno, but their claims seem reasonable...unlike some other remappers.
  36. Thank you for all your efforts. Unfortunately it still isn’t working. The folder has the maps folder in it, but not the tow other files that you have shown in the photo. I really don’t understand. I really appreciate all the time you have taken to try and help though, it really is much appreciated. Thanks Ian Hi. I am using a pc.
  37. Hi, Same tupid feeling I had in my Scout 23. In Skoda I ordered original complete mirror without cover. In my country cost cca 220€ (3V0072538A without area view). Change was for 1 hour original Skoda service. It is simply plug and play. But car is in warranty.

Get a couple of litres of de-ionised water from your local supermarket - normally used for steam irons, etc. Cheap as chips and a lot more reliable than the 'distilled' water your local Sh1tFix gets from the men's room tap!

If its just a little low, why not top up with distilled water for now - a few hundred millilitres of water in 8 litres or so of coolant wont do any harm for now- then sort / fully flush in future ( before winter?) when you determine which coolant for your motor?
  40. Hello, there is no cabling ready. It would have to be completed.
  41. I'd take a guess that's paint transfer, try a gentle rub with car wash and cleaning pad - or a very gentle wipe with T-cut.
  42. We had to put the app on our phones for work ,you seem to be over worrying about it ,its just a six digit code that gives you access to work related stuff ,its not going to rob your bank steal your car ,its just crap related to work stuff and thats the only time you will use it 👍 but i believe it has to be on same device that you get your work stuff on
  43. I recieved them I tested them, working fine.
  44. Hello, I am expecting these dynamic turn lights today. The installation procedure is almost the same as the previous Octavia model. Please watch the video below Install Dynamic LED Lights for mirror - Octavia 3 - YouTube
  45. Thank you for the reply. Apologies but here is my late update on what happened. The AA came out on fleet breakdown insurance. They did not tow me. They swapped out my battery for a fully charged one. And just just told me to drive 16 miles (13 miles motorway) 22 mins with them following behind me. They told me it was standard protocol to not tow vehicles with bad alternators. But to do what they did. Apparently, the longest trip he did like that was 50 miles. Swapped out another battery half way through. Also told me a fully charged battery should do 25-30 miles with aircon / lights / music off etc. So I guess, I could have just charged the battery up myself.
  46. Agreed. I'm fortunate enough to have two cars, one of which will hopefully be an EV from next month but with the technology at it's current state I would never consider one as my only vehicle. The only reason for having one is to lump my 15k annual commuting miles on to it (and as many other miles as possible) which will save me a fair bit of cash on fuel and depreciation. The EV will be quite unlikely to ever go further than 100 miles from home with the Superb taking on any longer journeys. I really hope the ZEV mandate is dropped at some stage. People should take on new technology at the speed that works for them, not be forced into it.

I had the Canton in my previous karoq - and if you have this you lose that nice storage area on the dash board - you know i dont really notice any difference - my current sportline doesnt have it - and i dont miss it. The storage is much more useful
  48. From what the OP had said this is a software update for a module in the car rather than the OTA infotainment update that you seem to be describing yourself. I can add to this topic in that mine was booked in today for its service and when I dropped it off yesterday afternoon they said that since I booked it in a couple of weeks ago they now had a software update showing for the DSG and that they would do it whilst it was in with them. I then saw this post last night and contacted them this morning to say I didn’t want the update doing in case it was this same update and when they looked the update had gone and was no longer showing against my vehicle and after discussing with them they also think that Skoda UK have pulled the update as per the OPs info from his dealer hence it no longer showing as being available or required for my car.
