  1. The climate is changing, the idea it is caused by CO2 is man-made

  4. I think it was the car dealer (non skoda) that did the first service, and then halfords for the second one (I did not know better then) Full disclosure this is the first time I ever have done it. But I just put a light smearing of silverhook silicone grease in the boot with a cotton bud. No grease on the threads as they are coated from factory (NGK) . I was reccomended this stuff as safe to use and I've not had any problems so far, although it has only been a day
  5. a) Yeah, but as I have shown previously, the UK could achieve "Net Zero" and it would have zero impact on "climate change". None. I remember when the climate alarmists used to tell us how much sea levels would rise, or how much the temperature would go up, and they had to stop doing that because they kept looking ridiculous. They even had to rebrand "Global Warming" as "Climate Change" because they got that wrong too. There has always been liberal/left-leaning scaremongering which has been leverage to raise taxes and pursue a globalist agenda. In the 1960's, oil was about to run out in the next 10 years or so. In the 1970's, and I remember being taught this at school, another ice age was going to freeze us all in the next 10 years or so. In the 1980's, acid rain was going to kill all plant life in the next 10 years or so. In the 1990s, the Ozone Layer was going to be destroyed in the next 10 years or so, with catastrophic results for humanity. In the 2000's, the glaciers were all going to melt in the next 10 years or so. In the 2010s, sea levels were rising and low-lying land was going to be flooded in the next 10 years or so. In the 2020's, CO2 is going to cause catastrophic climate change, in the next 10 years or so. You don't have to be "far-right" to spot a pattern of behaviour in the scaremongering. b) You'll have to ask Blair exactly what he meant by "short term". What does it usually mean? c) I disagree.
  6. In a DSG car the stop/start can be manually controlled without having to either permanently disable it or temporarily disable it via the on/off option in-car...... The manual method of control is by the amount of pressure you put on the brake pedal. If you just softly hold the brake pedal the engine will keep running but more pressure on the brake will let the stop/start kick in. I can pretty much decide when to use it every time now without even really thinking about it.
  7. Hello Briskodians, I would like to offer a repair service for some types of electric window motor module as fitted to a few Skoda models, as well as one or two VWs. At this stage it applies only to two specific, exact part numbers fitted to the driver's side front door, as follows: 6Y2959802 Fitted to later Mk1 Fabia, from around October 2004. 6Y1959801 Fitted to Very early Mk2 Fabia and Roomster until end of October 2007; as well as 9N3 Polo and a few Transporters. (And some late 9N Polos I have learned). Private Message me a VIN if you'd like me to check whether your car has this part number fitted. (As described a few posts below, either of the above part numbers + suffix A on the end can also be repaired. Also happy to try with units of the subsequent generation, with part numbers 6Q1959801F, G, H, or J.) Note that both of these are driver's side units, the difference in part numbering is due to the orientation/positioning of the motor module on the panels they mount to. These parts suffer a type of intermittent, progressive failure where they 'sometimes work fine, sometimes don't work at all'. Eventually they just completely stop working. This is what I can fix for you. I will test your faulty unit, confirm the problem, repair it to full working order and post it back to you for £59, total. You'd post it to me - less than 1Kg so can be sent for around £4.25 on a tracked24 service purchased online at Royal Mail. I would aim to turn it round within 2 days of receipt, and send it back tracked24. This is the what the part looks like: Central locking via remote will still work in the absence of the window module, so you will be able to secure the car as normal while it is away. Obviously you'll want to ensure that both front windows are fully shut, as in the absence of the driver's side module the passenger side one will not operate. New units are no longer available from Skoda/VW, and ebay 2nd hand ones with these part numbers tend to go for big bucks. I will charge you just £59 including return postage. Cheers, Pete Edit 30/08/25: To get in touch, please click on my username which will take you to my profile, with contact info.
  8. I sold my immaculate silver vRS about 6-7 years ago, I often regretted it but times and needs changed. I very recently had the opportunity to buy it back, I did. It is still in pretty excellent condition so I feel the need to subtly upgrade. Plan is to fit a Miltek or similar exhaust with a sports cat, sensible hybrid turbo and the obligatory larger intercooler. When mapped, I would like to see 300 bhp. My last vRS with similar spec and a maxed out turbo produced 245 bhp and 310 ft lb of torque which felt pretty quick. I’m not interested in loads of brightly coloured turbo hoses and loud dump valves, I want to keep it looking as standard as possible. If anyone has any kit lying around that they’re not going to use then please give me a shout and I will keep this thread updated once I collect together a kit of parts and get cracking. Cheers. 9
  9. Mony a mickle maks a muckle. The small nations and population of the UK has been emitting more emissions than they should be for a long time and keep on importing in crap that requires others to be emitting emissions. Maybe it is a case for stopping or reducing where and when you can and some climate change deniers in the UK mumping and moaning are unlikely to have the Coal Fired Power Stations fired up and the coal mines reopened. As it is they are likely to be dead in the next 70 years so there are the next generations to do what they want.
  10. All check your PMs. MIB2 units do NOT support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

  12. I've never found any dealer to have capability, confidence, trust, value and rapport. I've always found indies to do a better job, even if it is not always cheaper.
  13. Just for fun, I asked Grok AI to come up with some CO2 stats. First, I asked "what percentage of the atmosphere is CO2?" Then I asked "What percentage of atmospheric CO2 is produced by human activity? Give two answers, one as percentage of total co2 and one as percentage of atmosphere." Finally I asked "Of that 34.6% of total atmospheric CO2 what percentage does the UK produce? Give three answers. One, answer as a percentage of the human-made CO2 (the 34.6% of atmospheric CO2 you told me about). Two, the UK CO2 production percentage as a percentage of total global CO2, and also the UK CO2 production percentage as a percentage of total atmosphere." Even if the UK achieves net-zero, that will still leave 99.9908% of global CO2 remaining. (Note, that 99.9908% remaining CO2 still only comprises less than 0.05% of the earth's atmospheric gases.) If someone would be so good as to tell me how reducing global CO2 by 0.0092% will improve the climate, please tell me what impact it will have and show the data used to come to that improvement?
  14. Yes. I purchased on of these with appropriate cables. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08FCQB173?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 The centre connections go to the 12v dc and the left hand connections go to the Solar panel. Since using the PV controller I haven't had any issues starting the car. BUT I've been using the car at least once a week so it hasn't stood longer than 7 days without running. The display on the pv controller routinely shows voltages between 12.4 and 14.2V (depending on time of day) I have the load (right hand connections) switched off as there is nothing connected.
  15. 1 point
I think you should post this in the forum relating to whatever car it is that you own, at the moment it's so generic it's impossible to give a sensible answer as there are so many steering systems on Skodas.
  16. Then let me enlighten you… For me, it’s about capability, confidence, trust, value and rapport. If I get enough of each of those largely subjective values then that is the workshop I will use. At this time it happens to be the dealer from which I bought my Škoda; other dealers (not only Śkoda) and many local independent workshops come up lacking in one or more of those things I look for. Could get find an independent workshop that rates more highly overall? Probably, if I took the time and risk to find out. But I’ve lived in the area for 40+ years and experience has been underwhelming to say the least. So, being content with the dealer I’m continuing with them - until, that is, I have a need to look elsewhere, such as changing brand of car.
  17. If I had the choice again, I would have gone for the 2.0 4x4 Karoq. The 2.0 performance is, unsurprisingly, much more sporty. The 1.5 is average on 0-60 Traffic light Grand Prix, slightly slower than my 1.5 Octavia, and notably less than your Superb. Also, Sportline is only a trim level, not a sporty performance version of the 1.5.
  18. For the record the post mentioned and badly displayed and misrepresented above was made by me 18 months ago. It has not been removed and is a currently ongoing topic. As evidenced here. The topic is 'Farage debanked' in Roadside. To be honest I'm surprised it got to him so much. All I did was mistakenly type 'you' instead of 'they'. My bad <Oopsie!> Mine is the top post he displayed, the other is by Brisky admin and was made two and a half years before he himself started the 'Farage debanked' topic.
  19. Cheers Skomaz 👍 Bit of brain drain going on there, I knew that from my previous Volvo V60 🥴 Just hoping it’s from lack of use and not a leak 🤞🏻
  20. Yeah that's right they have a coated thread now to stop them from seizing so no anti seize or copper grease required. Although that doesn't mean the plugs weren't pulled by a garage and greased up I suppose during the warranty period. I have replaced them now with brand new plugs, I pulled them with the intention of replacing regardless of condition as they are 4 years old on 28k miles
  21. That doesn't look anything to be worried about, unless your engine seems to use oil, or more than it should. It could be a residue of something the last person put on the threads to ease later removal, copper grease does break down a little like this. There only seems to be three, so I'm guessing a 1.0 engine. I have the 1.2 4cyl, and cannot get the coils to let go of the plugs. Did yours come off easily, or was there a struggle? Any tips for getting the coils off? Thanks.
  22. Over-engineering is always preferable to just-enough engineering IMO, which is why my Asy 6's are Y speed rated.
  23. I remember lots of scaremongering over Oil & Gas for the past 50 plus years. That was the Conservative & Unionist Party & Elected Members that were doing it. There was lots of lying going on from the 1960,s. There still is. 16 years ago. (& Bottom vid, damn leftie,)
  24. Yes. I'll get that booked in and I'll get them to check all the mounts while they have got it.
  25. Hi, Since it's a manual gearbox, when was the last time you had your brake fluid changed? Indeed, the clucth slave cylinder is powered with brake fluid. It could then be an hypothesis... among others.
  26. The stop leak additives work on orings and rubber seals that have gone hard. They soften rubber and swell it slightly and generaly work for a while unless they are completely shot. Daughter has a 205 gti and got a replaement gasket on ebay for about £20-00 on hers its a rubber type shaped seal. Not sure on the 207 but if its rubber then an oil leak additive might work short term. Alasdair
  27. Some people seem to think they know what the people think. Trumpian! "People do not believe the climate narrative." "This is a fact." You make up your own FACTS. Surely some people do not believe. As for all the people all the time?
  28. Thats a good plan. Get it organised before you get the car. I made the mistake of paying for the car before asking what I could get. Obviously, at that stage, I couldn't get anything without paying through the nose.
  29. Hi Steve153. Welcome to the Elroq club. I have mudflaps front and rear, but I didn't get a price for fitting as the Sales guy said the Workshop would rip us off. Price of the mudflaps including VAT was £120.80. Fitting isn't too difficult, but you do need to take the wheels off. There's a couple of screws to take out of each mudguard liner and the mudflaps fit on these + there's a couple of holes to drill in each liner for push-in plastic fixings which presumably stops them fllapping in the wind.
  30. We finally had a week of dry spell, so I got round to washing the good old Superb. I also treated her to a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. That's at least + 20hp in street cred. l
  31. As you can see in the chart below, 125/70R18 has a much smaller outside diameter than the standard 17" tyre size on the Superb MK3. However, Skoda normally supply a 205/55R16 fitted to a 6.5x16 ET46 5/112 57.1 steel rim (from the Octavia MK3) as a spare wheel for the front wheel drive Superb MK3. Like the 125/70R18, the 205/55R16 tyre has an outside diameter that is much smaller than the standard Superb MK3 tyre sizes. Perhaps look at using a 215/60R15 Karoq wheel, ie. 215/60R16 fitted to a 6Jx16 ET43 5/112 57.1 steel rim. This should fit in the spare wheel well of a front wheel drive Superb MK3. I expect the 4x4 version would have less room and therefore need a spare saver...although I would look at a 135/80R18 fitted to the standard 3.5Jx18 ET25.5 5/112 57.1 space saver steel rim, rather than the rather small 125/70R18. Note that a standard Superb MK3 wheel such as 215/60R16 fitted to the standard 6.5Jx16 ET41 5/112 57.1 rim is about 6mm too wide to fit in the spare wheel well without raising the carpet. The widest inflated tyre that will fit in the spare wheel well of the Superb MK3 is 215mm. Unfortunately, the standard 215/60R16 fitted to its 6.5J rim is about 6mm too wide...at about 221mm...as shown in the chart below. Outside diameter of tyre 215/55R17 668.3mm 125/70R18 632.2mm (5.4% smaller outside diameter compared to 215/55R17) Actual width of inflated tyre (measured from sidewall to sidewall at the widest point) 215/60R16 fitted to 6.5J rim 221mm 215/60R16 fitted to 6J rim 215mm Alcar 6665 6Jx16 ET43 5/112 57.1 steel rim fitted with Continental UltraContact 215/60R16 95V https://www.mytyres.co.uk/cw/bundle?vehicle_ids=1302234084152546416&wheelId=SKWi-6665--D-126062&wheelIdWithTpms=&season=so&rimType=steel
  32. Don't let the fact that is different rim size worry you, the important thing is the overall diameter compared to the other wheels. Well, it is also important in case of fouling steering/suspension/brake components, but I do not think is the case with the sizes considered.
  33. 2013 Superb Estate with +100k miles on it here. Had the 4 wheel alignment done with new tyres, also running CrossClimate2's. I've just replaced springs, shocks and drop links on the car as the suspension was horribly soft and clunky. One rear shock was misting, so it was time to do them all. Big difference is that the car handles a lot better now. Even tyre wear since the alignment and better fuel consumption as well. Been pleased with how it all handles now.
  34. Hello, welcome to the forum. Quite possible that the voltage output from the PV regulator ('conditioner') is shut down when not connected to a load - in this case, your battery. 12.2 volts is likely to be insufficient to charge your battery anyway - what voltage are you seeing at the battery terminals while it is disconnected?
  35. After reading Pete's post I made contact and arranged for a replacement to be sent to me. He posted it yesterday afternoon, 16:22, and it turned up 10:50 this morning! Will send the faulty one back once swapped out. Great service. Many thanks Pete. 👍
  36. my take on changing the aero on the segitarius wheels on my new karoq, i only spent around £9, no-one will know 😛
  37. Slightly better pictures. The amp and sub will be getting retrimmed after the new amplifier arrives!
  38. No, red is better. Black is beautiful for about five minutes after each cleaning. (Nice photoshop job.)
  39. Some days, I absolutly love the velvet red. But on some other days, I just wish I got a black car at the beginning. Photoshopped to black
  40. do you know the weight of each rim ? looks like an ET 35? do the tyres hit your fender on a full load ?
  41. Few of the latest pics... Now remapped to stage 1, Rear half roof wrapped. Maxton front splitter on. Callipers painted red.
  42. Does any one has these new CEPEUS 19 inch rims on the Superb I want to buy them but i cannot see any pictures with these , so cannot decide. If you have some pictures with these Cepeus new rims add it please Thanks
  43. Blimey, how I hate reading this thread at the moment. Nothing to do with the subject matter. Just the lazy writing...does my bloody head in.
  44. Hey @Rantzzz, are those breyton wheels 19" ? hows yr review on them ?
  45. @Rantzzz- that has come out very nicely on urs 👍 u have a darker color compared to mine, so it has a nice contrast, whereas mine is subtle against the grey. 🙂 no no, don't use any additional glue, at least I didn't have to. wat I did prior to fitting it was, after measuring & cutting each piece, I then laid it out flat, overnight, on a table's edge, with masking tape to hold it down. this helped with removing the bends/tension in the chrome edge.span widget
  46. Here u go.... AU $4.16 29%OFF | 10m Car Chrome Moulding Trim Door Seal Strip Sticker For Skoda Octavia A5 A7 Kodiaq Superb 2 Rapid Fabia 1 Porsche 911 Cayenne M https://a.aliexpress.com/_mP3gUAA
  47. Thanks. I got a specific chrome door trim edge, with a specific L-shape lip. i got it from AliExpress. its flexible plastic, that comes in different sizes. i got the 9mm thick, 10m version. it comes with double sided tape. so i cut to measure, n then stuck it on. i'm impressed at how long, and well its lasted. survived high pressure washes, high speeds, sunlight, and rain. its ridiculous how much a small piece of OEM chrome/black strip costs!! my version looks almost identical, costs a 10th of the OEM bits, and can b easily fixed/replaced.
  48. Living in Saar - West side, close to the causeway, as I work in Saudi. Not that Bahrain is particularly big, but saving 15 to 20 minutes each way on the commute while still living on the more comfortable side of the "bridge" is a good enough reason for me to stay over this way. Skoda doesn't seem to have much of a following here yet. The car does get a surprising amount of attention however, mainly from people who are curious as to what it is.
  49. Fabulous colour that. First post I've seen from Bahrain, are you in Manama?
