  2. Today i fitted new wheels on the Skoda. 19 inch Borbet Y. Perfect fit. Just want to share it with you all
  3. Well I've just bought a 20 plate Octavia 1.5tsi dsg sel estate, with low mileage. So I'm once again back in the fold.
  4. Only 13 cm ie 5 inches shorter than an R5 but massively less capable. Applaud use of LFP batteries, thought it might be at least 30 kwh to be signicantly better than the Spring which can be had for about £11k. Spring is dye to come out soon with about a 100 hp motor. Needs to get better wheels and tyres D already feels skitty. ICE Twingo was a real hoot. Turning circle like a London Cab and more power than the electric Twingo. Twingo etech needs more battery, more power etc sk hope there will be a hot version. I recall Renault paired with Smart was it, using their relationship abd part ownership of Mercedes to do a hot 120 hp version. We need that as well as a better base model I reckon.

Sounds like pump has leaked into electrical connector. That has happened twice to me now. I will let you know how the garage sort it.
  6. Sounds like either the master cylinder letting fluid past the seals/leaking or the slave. Check the brake/clutch fluid level. Had one do this on a couple of cars. Clutch went straight to floor and had to lift it up with toe. Pumped a few times and it came back. Eventually master cylinder failed completely. No fluid visible as it was all on the undertray. It drained out when the car was winched onto recovery. Wasnt losing any fluid or very little until it failed completely.
  7. I haven't yet decided what's best to do next. Whilst Googling, I came across this which appears to be a menu outlining the options available. The helpful Service Manager at my local dealer made a note in his diary to discuss 'what next' - maybe this is what he has in mind ...... https://customer.vwfs.co.uk/service-plans/skoda.html?traci_c=UK%7CSI%7CGA%7CS%7CSKODA:DM-P:&traci_s=SI:SKODA:SEA:Google:SearchAd:2023-01:&traci_ee=19604534807:145589334923:647819819930::::&traci_t=skoda%20all%20in%20plan:e::&s_kwcid=AL!10901!3!647819819930!e!!g!!skoda%20all%20in%20plan&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=19604534807&gbraid=0AAAAAoaLYNOsOc_ZewAIQtMKVMzRoobky&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI6_aA3YHekAMVRZVQBh1S-Ct4EAAYASAAEgK2O_D_BwE
  8. Great tip, this really helps. Thanks for the quick response.
  9. Try a Westfalia distributor (I'm pretty sure Westfalia make VW OEM towbars) or it may be a case of a replacement swan neck
  10. @augusto73roma you have to patch swdownload from toolbox and then start installation of 0480 firmware. It will break with some error messages - you have to modify metainfo2.txt (change "RequiredVersion..." lines from any version it has to "0").
  11. I’ve got the SEL, so standard suspension, yes it’s soft but in UK it’s perfect because nearly all road surfaces crap and you can at least have a conversation Father in laws Audi A4 black edition has mix firmer suspension and can’t talk in it because it’s such a harsh ride Until roads are built and maintained properly I’ll always go with softer suspension
  12. I agree it could be the o2 sensor. Its likely to be the one after the cat. Check that you have no exhaust leaks as well as my sons fabia mk1 had similar problems. His exhaust was leaking at the flexi join. Not by much but it was enough to put eml on. Alasdair
  13. I will have a whole car to sell shortly. With the rubber mats! Maybe more than you wish to spend, though.
  14. Well done. I was getting a bit concerned. Will test it later.
  15. Thank You @chills ! As long as Retire the car from mechanic, I’ll see what’s under the seats; same for the harness (it’s the kit for Golf 7/7.5 that fits at least for the front ones)
  16. 2021 Superb iv Estate L&K in grey
  17. That should read, "B8 is for lowered ride height, and is only available for non-DCC" and "B6 non-DCC and B8 non-DCC have a monotube design and B6 DCC has a twintube design". Monotube is better (and more expensive) than twintube".
  18. one note to add, I bought my battery from Tayna batteries - much better prices than local shops!
  19. Whilst I thought about it.... If you ever want to fold the middle seat to form an arm rest or drinks holder, you end up with a gap straight through to the boot space. So I picked up a padded rear bumper cover off Temu/AliExpress. It is meant to flip out from the boot to cover the real lip and bumper when loading. I put some material from an old boot liner in the middle on the cabin side and Velcro left and right. Now, when you drop the centre seat, there is no noise or draft into the cabin. Also, it protects the bottom of the seats where the handles are.
  20. The sticker on my MK4 Fabia suggests 2,5 bar front and rear for partial load and 2,7 front 3,4 rear !!! full loaded... Seems to me very high for everyday/normal use resulting in harsh ride. I believe these have been set mainly for max fuel economy reasons. Tried a 2,3 front and back and the car feels much better to me. Maybe i will add 0,2only in rare cases of full load.
  21. Seems they are upto 30% with the V2 Comfort being only £200 off
  22. This sounds like the car has installed the new 1989 software rather than 1969.
  23. We wait for developments! I believe with better components, as many have done replacing, this aspect of the car can be much improved! @cnc I also like comfort, but the bounciness is not really desirable, besides being uncomfortable, it stresses many components in an unneccessary manner... the Superb's suspension - at least mine with DCC - allows too much body movement, i had a similar case on one of my earlier Audis and it was not very pleasant, especially when towing 🫣
  24. I have to change my Renault 5 to Yellow as the pop green i was due to get was found be damaged at the import centre. Did not want to have the yellow which attracts an £800 premium but that was only choice to get about sams time as Zie going back. Picking up next Wednesday and Zie going back to Renault on the Thursday. 15 hp less than the Zoe but torque per kilowatt similar so acceleration similar. Bit less range than the Zoe. Two thirds of the price the Zoe was 4 years ago. No Google inbuilt on the Evolution model i am getting so will use Andoid auto. No Reno assist I expect which reminds of that annoying paperclip figure with MS Windows No rear camera, just beep beep. Looking for aftermarket arm rest but have order after market cup holders. No stupid 5 bar charge indicator on the bonnet either. Still gets the 10 inch infotainment screen. Looking forward to trying it on the twisties with its multilink suspension. Twinge launch very soon but RHD versions sound like a good year away !
  25. Did you get chance to try the press and hold reset? Appreciate that you are confident tyre pressures are ok at moment but what happens when you do have a genuine loss of pressure? Over here you will fail our annual roadworthiness MOT inspection with the TPMS warning light on with a car of this age. I suspect you may have a similar system in NZ so if you are going to just leave the TPMS warning light on, recommend that you check to make sure that this won't cause problems with any such inspection down the line.
  26. The Moon a few days back............ Full tonight although too cloudy for a clear view 😕
  27. Thanks for your comments, all, very much appreciated. @cnc I totally get where you're coming from - I did 950 miles over 5 days a couple of weeks ago, and 600+ last week, and just get out feeling refreshed every time...never had that with any other car, so don't want to ruin that. @leolito , I don't want to have that conversation with The Plod, so won't be caught touching anybody else's cars in dark corners...at least not in public 🤣 I did have an Arteon Shooting Brake PHEV company car with DCC, and the suspension was lovely in that; for covering long distances I usually had it set to just softer than comfort (it had the full adjustment, rather than three presets), and to sharpen things up, occasionally set it to sport. It was one of the only good things about the car, apart from its looks, as it was a proper VW parts bin and lockdown lack-of-development piece of junk! It's gone through two of my successors and both hated/hate it and can't wait for the lease to end! @MartiniB Thanks for your in depth detail on the suspension upgrades, much appreciated. I had a response from the garage earlier today after sending them a link to the Koni Special Actives, and I have even more confidence in their credibility as they don't want to do or advise on anything until they've actually inspected the car, and if we do look at changing the suspension, they want to be sure they match the shocks and spring rates correctly. I'm hoping that it's just tired and needs refreshing, and my head says just do something like new bushes and go OEM+ with something like Bilstein B4, but my heart says otherwise... Will update next week.
  28. Hurrah, she is finally at the Dealer. They've sent me a video of our VRS just as it's come off the transporter , Hyper green will definitely stand out 🤣 collecting on Friday at lunch time so only two sleeps, all quite exciting
  29. Just installed a 12v USB C and A socket replacing the 12v Cig lighter socket. Was able to reuse the connections to the car, removing the existing and then soldering the new wires from the adaptor and making good. Just tested and all works fine, had to trim a little the back of the unit where the new socket went as the lock ring catch along with trimming down the lock ring also. Also didn't destroy the old one getting it out, there are 2 tabs which you need to press in to get the inner metal socket out from the plastic surround and then you can remove the plastic surround, as this is held in by the metal socket.
  30. Okay, I’ve discovered that if you tap the pencil, it allows you to drag the “Interior Monitoring” bar down the screen… and it promptly returns to the top! I’m guessing that if they are multiple bars on the shutdown screen in future that this will allow you to change the order in which they appear on the screen. Mystery solved.

So far: few flywheels one front spring both front drive axles (it is easier to change and almost the same price than only the ball joint) few sets of brake disks back camera Probably some stuff else, but cannot remember anything major.
  32. Thanks @Danoid , I popped into Gliptone on my travels last week after speaking to Graham there on the phone beforehand - what a helpful chap! Picked up the leather conditioner, gentle cleaning solution, a horse-hair brush, soft tyre dressing sponges (for applying the conditioner), and an Odor Goblin. Have only cleaned and conditioned the front seats and doors cards, and cleaned the steering wheel, and a definite improvement in looks, feel and smell. The steering wheel still smells a bit with the sun’s on it, so I’m just going to clean it whenever I remember, and the seats had some splash marks on the back that the detailer hadn’t been able to remove; I may have gone a bit more aggressively as they’ve all but gone now. That’s the positive, the negative is getting home and seeing that I’d scraped the front bumper through to the black plastic in the tightest parking space ever (I know exactly where I did it, but thought I was just clear)…hurts even more after making it look so good the week before! First world problemA!
  33. Whilst I like the yellow the 5 comes in that matt grey in combination with those wheels and what looks like a body kit is hideous
  34. Took me a little while to decide on an MOT centre that would look after me and I can happily say look after me they have. After a whopping 7 years and 6 months since it's last MOT, We're back!
  35. The speed limiter and the speed limit warning are two different systems. You can enable the speed limiter so that you do not exceed the speed you set. The speed limit warning sounds a chime once you exceed the posted speed limit. It also sounds a (different) tone when the speed limit changes. Both of these settings are user configurable via the digital dash controls.
  36. I had the same problem and feared it may have been the wiper motor as one of the other contributors has commented. I removed the jet which was not blocked, I tried again and no fluid came out at all, I worked some stiff plastic coated garden wire down the hole where the nozzle fits, it goes in 3 or 4 inches, I jabbed it and rusty water emerged, tried it again and it worked, rusty dirty water at first, after a few squirts the water ran clear and it’s now working ok, I hope this might help someone,
  37. I replaced the rear 12v socket with a Dual QC USB ports on Gandalf a couple of years ago. It sits flush. I have a 90-deg cable which allows me to close the compartment so it is out of sight. U can read about wat I did here.
  38. What age were the tyres? They can get less complaint with age. Most owners found Michelin Cross Climate 2's to offer considerably better ride than most Summer tyres.
  39. My old pickup Has been sitting for nearly two years. The engine is a 1.6 from early ‘98 with nasty emissions and overheat. Tried a few things and ran out of enthusiasm. The body is mostly good. It has a Hard cover and lots of spares including wing and door and rear light. Shame to scrap the old truck. I am happy to sell parts or as a donor/project. Let me know if there’s anything you need.
  40. I tried all sorts but they were steadfast. I got discount which Renault have instructed not to give on the R5 as hey are in such demand. Tried to say I will have the Pop Green with the damaged rear bumper and the local dealer can fix but no joy. There is a claim against the shipping company presumably, thankful not us as we move about 4m finished cars a year but don't do this little run from Dieppe to Portbury Bristol. Same seats in terms of build as the Techno and Iconic but a simply two tune dark rather than the yellowy seats. I, and my son, would only get chocolate or similar on the seats so safer bet with dark than the yellow. No in-built Google maps etc so just auto-link to Android Auto. Frankly have both the phone Google and the car Google running at the same time is a pain as switch from one to another, as I do in the Scenic, and it wipes the journey in the other system. Each system has their advantages. In theory the car google estimates battery SOC at arrival but it is so over estimating on power use it is worse than useless. Should be able to precondition battery but again never had that work properly and generally I think it is just a waste of energy unless you are in very cold climates and need to charge early in the journey which should be between rare and never for me with the R5. Came across this video which is so funny and harps back to the early noughties Ali G video with the body kitted original R5. Promoting Reggie Land rather than the Renault 5. Has to be yellow, no matter what the cost and should get in back as will probably keep the R5 for the next decade or two. Renault's natural colour is yellow like Skoda is green IMO.
  41. You can always buy a spare wheel or tyre, the question is where will you store it ? Leave it in the boot but that will eat into your bootspace. For some strange reason 15 years back the EU and UK decided it was acceptable to just have a can of sealant ... As soon as that regulation was passed they all saw the opportunity to save a little bit of money . Whether not the Elroq is suitable for you, the only way you can answer is by test driving as it's personal to wash person. For us, our Elroq VRS is perfect size. We had a Kodiaq followed by a Tesla Model y ( too big with awful turning circle), we live in a city so wanted something a bit more usable. Renault 5 was too small , enyaq was the roughly the same size as the Model Y. Elroq was perfect , especially as we have growing kids . We also have a superb estate we use for camping etc
