  1. There is... We had it enabled on our old MK2. The original poster simply needs to remove the new wiring that has been added and get the car coded properly by someone that knows what they are doing
  2. If it currently 12.2v charge the battery up with the correct charger, then the next day check the voltage, after that the next step is to check the voltage as someone starts the car and see how low it goes and how quick it recovers.
  3. Good to hear a voice that had this option enabled on a MK2! You're right, I'm pretty sure the garage did not really know what they were doing, or lacked the tools to do it properly! I'll pop over to a local Skoda dealer tomorrow morning... Many thanks! 👍
  4. There is probably an option in the BCM to allow twin rear fog lights, as I believe that this is a standard requirement in some countries. If present, enabling this would allow both lamps to operate without flagging an error. I've always thought fitting a single rear fog light rather poor - apart from cost, the only positive factor I can see is minimising unnecessary rearward glare when lights are misused - which misuse should be policed a lot more.
  5. There are many videos and also articles about this topic, and while I sympathise with you as you have all been encouraged to buy into the ethos of electric motoring and cheaper running costs for those home charging. Fact remains those with ICE car are still paying for more than 3p a mile in fuel duty, plus the 20% VAT, so every time oil goes up, so does duty and VAT pro-rota. It was predictable that, governments were bound to wake to the fact that they were loosing so much revenue by the continuing subsidizing of electric motoring and realise their folly. As we live longer, the pressure on their reserves and income is going to be under more strain than it was before.

  7. Haven’t managed to get out with the camera since the Holy Island snaps. Had a quick trip to Limerick via Cairnryan-Belfast with the journey from hell. A couple of snaps from the trip. Followed by a day of cleaning the van which took a battering. Been working on the windows of our project, now finally finished off with shutters. Still loads of other stuff to do but motivation is lacking. We didn’t re-install the home cinema system as we were supposed to be going for a minimalist look. Though was tempted with a big stack of hifi separates and some floorstanders. Should all just about fit nicely in the bay window.. 🤣 Pick it up next week, still gotta tell the missus.. she’s only just got over the flying ducks and Union Jack chesterfield. 🤣
  8. I can't recall where I saw it now, someone had posted details of the actual Ethanol content of the various petrol brands. That was quite interesting as some of the premium brands E5 and E10 contained less Ethanol than other brands., as the requirement is up to 55 or up to 10% .
  9. Which it should, if battery voltage is down to 12.2 as stated by OP.
  10. Thanks all - amazed how knowledgable everyone is! The BMS error was corrected after the half term trip.
  11. I have applied the 3rd solution in all of my belts and still fit in the lock buckle, the cover is very thin, no problem with the lock tongue. There are Belt Holders in the market to keep in place.
  12. Thanks - not sure what "high rate load" refers to? They had the lights on, fan, air con on - is that the load you are talking about? I do do quite a few school runs which are short - but also did a solid 1000 mile trip over half term (including two 350 mile runs) and it made no difference.
  13. At 12.2 volts, that 95% reading can only be battery Health - not SOC. Was the battery load tested under a high-rate load? Do you do a lot of relatively short runs? What is the battery terminal voltage with the engine running?
  14. I don't understand the 95% what did they say that was because 12.2v is around 50% charged. Fully charged would be 12.6v or higher depending upon time checked
  15. Thanks! I am hopeful Skoda will be able to get into things with software like this - its a bit above my head to be honest, but suspect this is the kind of solution needed, and the one I should have opted for before letting Euromaster argue that it could not be remapped, but had to be hard wired! Cheers! 👍
  16. Blennerville, just south of Tralee.
  17. We’ve had this very issue on our Kodiaq with 50k miles on the clock. After an hour of driving, it put the gearbox in emergency box, and started skipping even gears. Turning ignition off and on would temporarily reset the problem. After multiple authorised Skoda Marshall delaerships let us down (their first appointment was in 2 months 🙄), 3D Transmissions in Tilehurst have done a fastastic job at replacing mechatronics unit of our Skoda DSG gearbox. £2900 later we are all sorted.
  18. I would reset the selector cables first and also check the plastic gear selector in engine bay isnt seizing. Another possibilty is the cast weighted unit on top of gearbox selector. Make sure its not loose. Son in laws centre splined has worn so its loose. He was randomly getting no gears or difficult to change as it was hitting top of Gbox casting. Cant see anything engine related affecting gear change. Alasdair
  19. Pulling to the right suggests a right side wheel is being braked - either because a right side sensor is reporting too fast OR because a left side sensor is reporting too slow.
  20. I think it's start the car not relock, because you do it before you get out so if you where then to unlock to get in the boot it would reset, so that is why i think it's next time you start the car.
  21. It appears from OPs profile that this was originally a 1.8 L&K - and mentions in the post some 'Clutch' work with the conversion - but not what gearbox is currently fitted. If a manual box, I suspect a selector cable problem.
  22. OP hasn't said yet whether or not the complete powertrain unit was swapped.

  24. I doubt that a 2.0 TSI with whatever gearbox is not capable of towing a not very heavy trailer when all is well with them. I assume the TT Engine and box fitted was a used one, and it,s mileage matters more than the Octavia getting it fitted what it had done 60,000 miles. It will be a gearbox issue.
  25. I'm calling the Skoda dealership tomorrow to see if this is an option - from old posts on this, it seemed there was a problem doing this, and from my comms with Skoda, very unhelpful and wrong concerning how the car was originally issued in the UK... The garage I took it to - Euromaster told me they could not do this using a VW/Skoda computer. Still, I suspect you must be right - there are twin filament bulbs in each lamp, so there must be a way to activate them. Many thanks 👍
  26. So the Octavia has the allowable / relevant weights for towing on the car, regardless of the engine swap.If stopped towing by the DVSA / Police then they are looking at the plate.Unlikely they are looking at the engine and swap. & as it is the cars weight and b
  27. The towing capacity of the TT was nothing to do with the engines BHP / Torque, it was just because AUDI never gave it Towing Capacities just as Skoda did not with Mk2 Fabia vRS Hatches or Estates with 180 ps & 250 Nm torque. But they gave the Polo, Ibiza & A1,s with the same drive trains the braked and unbraked figures allowing the fitting of a towbar for towing. Much the same with some Skoda Kodiaq 7 seater manuals, no plating allowing towing.
  28. Have you had the vehicle scanned for any logged DTCs? Presume trailer is unbraked, therefore less than 750kg - is that correct?
  29. Was it the complete engine and gearbox that was swapped? Unlikely that your gearbox issue has anything to do with the stated 'Nil Towing' capacity unless the engine (or gearbox) was overheating, which would also seen unlikely with such a small trailer. The 'Nil Towing' capacity will have simply been an Homologation requirement not fulfilled at the time of manufacture.
  30. As said I ran it through the main rubber grommet in bulk head behind/below glove box . Think I pushed a piece of rigid wire through first and then taped cable to it and pulled back then ran under carpets into rear. Alasdair
  31. I always click on the cog and adjust the playback speed to at least 1.75 and pause graphs when needed
  32. This guy has one of the most monotonous voices of any presenter on the internet / Youtube but his video below is the best I have seen on the impact of pay per mile for pure EVs an which ever hybrids, presumable PHEVs, that the tax changes bring about. Bit of a spoiler alert but he shows that a 3p per mile tax is taken in their stride for EV owners. It would be nice is the flip side on the coin of us EV drivers paying PAy Per Mile if we got a cut in VAT on Public Charging which would help adoption by those with driveways at home to charge on. The big point also made is that the 5p per litre reduction brought in for Covid is due to end in April 2026 ie only 4 and a half months away. Pay per Mile is not due until 2028. Very comprehensive mathematical modelling, with some admitted flaws but generally looks a fair model.......... EVs will continue to be have far lower running cost even in a post Pay per Mile scenario, certainly at 3p per mile but logically this could go to 4, 5 and even 6p per mile in the next decade.
  33. The car arrived and can confirm, that wireless android auto works well. Connects immediatelly and no glitches.
  34. I was very happy with my mk3 2.0TDI manual for 8 years. Not a single fault. Sold it with 150 000 km on the clock. It didn't had too many extras: AFS xenons, rear camera, heated windshield, no assistance systems at all and cloth seats. So nothing special, but still - a comfortable car for the price. The only downside was sound insulation. Not terrible, but for such a nice interior quality, insulation was the only thing I thought could be better. But it was time to get something new. Was thinking to try something new. Never liked SUVs, so the choise is narrow. Passat for my tasted was too ugly. I knew it's probably a better car and could get the same specs as Superb for the same price, but it wass too ugly. Then thought about Audi A5. Took the test drive and was disappointed a lot. I expected a feeling better than Superb. But: parts below were the same hard plastic. Door gaskets were faulty for a new tested car. Standard trims, with door panels from cloth looked like they are taken from golf mk2. Leather seats could fix this, but even then, trim in center console is hard terribly looking plastic... everything felt cheap. For 5000! I could get S line alcantara seats, which were better and with no terrible plastic trims in center console. But this raised already high price to almost 60 000 Eur with discount already. And with no such extras like heated rear seats, no heated windscreen, no matrix lights. Then decided to give a try for a superb. When I went to dealer and checked Sportline interior, I felt it's a different class to audi A5. Quality was everywhere: firm alcantara seats, hard plastic in audi replaced by alcantara trimmings everywhere in Superb. Got a price for a high spec superb 14000 eur less to A5. With many more extras too. And realized that I just maybe can't afford a good Audi. So just ordered Superb. So now why am I writing this long story? Well, while I was waiting for the car to be delivered, I started reading reviews. I know I had to do it before ordering :) But reviews are usually paid by manufacturers, so I started looking for user comments. And these were terrible everywhere. Everybody compared it to mk3 and almost everyone said mk3 is miles better car. So I waited for a new car with fear. Finally, It arrived last week. Already 2000km on the clock. And after this, I can say that all negative comments comes from people who had never driven it. Maybe never even seen it live. I wasn's expecting many changes, as platform is the same. But mk4 is from another world compared to mk3. Interior quality is even better, sportline seats are very comfortable. Sound insulation is better regarding wind and road noise. Probably engine is a bit noisier. Unless it will get better when it runs in. Also about the engine. I was expecting it to be the same as previous, as its also 110kw tdi. But it much livier. And handling in corners is similar to A5. Which was the only positive thing from my test drive. It's a lot better than mk3, and not bouncing and rolling anymore. Though, don't know if it's related to sportline trim. But in general - everything is better in mk4. Except maybe Canton system - was expecting more. But also didn't have time to play with settings. A lot complains about too sensitive asssitance systems. I think these works well. They are designed to assist and even if they are on the sensitive side, this is why they are designed for - to protect in advance. So after all, I'm really surprised about the car. Big comfortable car, with super quality interior. In real life it looks better than in videos. And digital cluster everyone is complaining about, looks a lot better in reality too. So my advice - just go for it. And you will never look back to mk3. Which is a very good car, but mk4 is just better.
  35. Cool! Thanks! I've managed to find a video where someone shows how they fitted one for a towbar, and think I understand how to use it as a relay between the left/right crossover wiring. As for power - I reckon I'd have to run it from the battery because there's no lighter socket in my Octavia. Very many thanks, if I can work out how to fit the bypass relay, it should 'mask' what's going on and sort things out... 🤞
  36. Unlikely as it may be, should we ever meet, please remind me to lay on the floor and admire the paint job on yer sump 👍 It’s nice to see the love you’re giving this little Scooby 😎 Gaz
  37. That rain sensor on the windscreen is only for the auto wipers, so that will have no effect on the brakes. I suspect that one or more of the wheel speed sensors is being affected by the rain.
  38. 1 point
Button is there on my 25 Model year Sportline Edition 4x4 TDI
  39. That's right. And since your car no doubt has an alarm, the system must be Thatcham Approved Category 1. That is presumably what the insurance company expects to hear.
  40. The insurance company has full access to the Thatcham database, all they need to know is that its fitted with the OE Alarm system and not an after market system.
  41. Just washed it. What helps is the Raceglaze water filter which means zero water marks, although I do towel most of it off. It really needs a whole day spent on it but I just don’t have the time at the moment.

  44. Hi, Sills are not design to work as you think, they are powered by 3V battery and 30sec timer as i remember from searching for them to add them to my car...but then i given up. Product Description SKODA Illuminated door sill covers are a decorative accessory for your vehicle. They protect the paintwork around the front door sill from dirt. They are NOT designed to be stood on when getting into (or out of) the vehicle. Side door sill covers with backlight perfectly match the contours of the vehicle sill, - are positioned using templates order no. 5E3 071 718, are held in position using retaining clips and a magnetic strip, which are located on the underside of the door sill covers. light up for around 30 seconds when the doors are opened, then go out, light up again if the door is closed and opened again, or if the sensor on the side door sill cover (located behind the OCTAVIA logo) is covered, we recommend having the batteries replaced by an authorised ŠKODA AUTO service partner. 45. I fear that is absolutely correct, though reliability of this one isn’t its strong point, the car is great and I do love it but the dealer support is the opposite, it can’t be any worse! Having had engagement with four Skoda dealers on various matters with this car, the conclusion is they rank as worse, worse, worse and worst!
  46. So i took them down a notch and can confirm I’m much happier. the white adjustment screws on top on the lights are what you need with a 6mm hex / allen key. the ones near the centre of the car do left and right alignment (don’t mess with these, is my advice) the ones near the sides of the car do the up and down. Take it easy though, one full rotation doesn’t look like much if you’re pointing at a nearby flat surface, but makes a big difference on the road. i can no longer see the silhouette of the driver in front’s ears on road signs ahead, and the full beams seem to point ahead now and not slightly skyward as before. I’ve restarted the car a few times since and can confirm the change has remained. i think if you’ve got a problem with any of the individual 4 light units pointing the wrong way, or the matrix not working correctly, then this is unlikely to help. For that, you’ll likely need a proper dealer calibration, as mentioned by a previous poster.
  47. Essentially, at 7m away, the top of the low beam shining on the wall should be at or slightly below the height of the center of the headlight projector lens. hence u need to measure:- 1. centre of project lens to the ground 2. top of low beam cut-off to the ground. #2 should not exceed #1. ideally, #2 should b between 2-5cms lower than #1. obviously the ground must b level/flat.
  48. No I did not change oil . I just change filter and error is gone .it was wrong filter fitted and nobody thought that could be the issue. You guys point that out for me .engine oil was changed when they changed oil pump even that garage don't even bother to change filter . I am going to go to that garage and tell them if next time somebody come around with low oil pressure. It will be good idea to change only filter and switch first then open sump .might save money for car owner .your guys are great .thanks again for your time and help I really appreciate it
