  1. Today I fitted an AliExpress reversing camera. All in all not too bad to fit. Just some awkward trim panels and cable routes. Had to hard reset the radio for it to recognise it but working nicely now. And for only £36 vs £770 that Richter advertise it for.

Engine code is the starting point for any wiring/circuit research. Probably shown a few lines above the top of the section of your scan above, or on a sticker on the upper cambelt cover, or at the start of the engine number on V5c. Example shown below for a different engine type.
  3. Hi Nta16 Thank you - success! the key point is you suggestion working at back edge and not following the video guides which seem to be for different/older models. No way can this be done with just fingers. I did it with an old plastic card inserted between the shiny trim and the console (photo attached) I the slowly slid the card toward the left corner while gently pulling up on the gaiter and pushing down on the card , not levering, and it just clicked out. Then it was easy to do the other corner and lift the gaiter up to reveal the gear-lever location pin holes. The shiny trim and gaiter are separate pieces . I saw another thread where members had failed trying to follow YT videos etc. Thanks again- now to try resetting the gear change cables as per Alisdairs info. Regards Ian

Hi all, I'm glad to be a member of the Skoda group. I have a MK2 Octavia auto estate 2010

  6. I only had the fault intermittently but haven’t seen it since installing it. Getting to the plug is a pig to remove it from existing. And there’s 3 versions of the switch so you have to make sure you get the right one depending on your gearbox. One is only different by part number by one “A” at the end of the part code. But I left the pin in as I didn’t have any instructions. There’s a couple of screws to adjust the switch position once it’s installed so I used them to make sure it was in the right place. You can hear a relay clicking when the switch activates to make sure it’s right. Seemed to go ok and not seen the fault since. My switch was £27 from AliExpress.
  7. I'm waiting on my new Elroq, it's already in stock so I should have it the first week of January.
  8. Hate to tag the man in again but @JR RS has done this but it may have been to the rear one. He’ll likely have a part or a how to or knowledge either way
  9. Hi. I’ve recently picked up a late 2015 SE L Exec 2.0Tdi DSG in moon white myself. My work on it so far have been cosmetic/ functional and it’s already had some simple things done. The wheels have been recently refurbed in dark grey and the calipers painted red, the interior lights have all been changed to bright white LED and it’s had the AdBlue coded out as well as a few other bits and pieces added to the options menus with VCDS in the past. So far I’ve done: Start/stop memory module from AliExpress Chrome bumper protector strip (to cover some scuffs on the paintwork) AliExpress reversing camera Replacement top for DSG lever Switch to top of DSG to correct “Workshop only” fault Floor Mats Number plates and frame holders Replace parking ticket clip that was broken Next on the list is to obtain a proper spare wheel and tool kit as I’ve only got the pump and foam, and the foam is out of date. I also need to replace the parking brake switch as the chrome is chipped, and the gear lever leather has seen better days so that’s on the list too. I’d love to do black badges and black out all the chrome as I think it would look really good against the white. But there’s quite a lot of chrome including the roof bars, window trim and grille. So that one will be for the long list. I also don’t want to go spending too much on it until it’s had its next service and had a once over from the local specialist garage just in case there’s any nasty surprises. Most of my parts have come from AliExpress and I was initially sceptical but all of them have been spot on so far.

Have you carried out a load test on the battery?

Discounts make no difference to the £40,000 & VED. If the car was already in stock, it is the Manufacturers List Price that matters @ the time of purchase. Many have been caught out thinking they managed to be below £40,000

If you have a low spec Kodiaq those parts of the lights are not fitted with LEDs so they will never turn on. Have you checked if the light units actually have the LEDs in them?
  13. I suggest you two take this discussion offline, it doesn't help those less skilled than yourselves to read this debate.

Found this list but not sure if its the same on your car. Reccomendation is to unplug each individually with ignition off and then switch on and check if code is gone. The sensor that removes code is likely to be the problem or wiring to it. Not sure if it helps but worth a try. Check for dirt/moisture in connectors Manifold Pressure/Boost Sensor (G31) Intake Manifold Tuning Valve Position Sensor (G336) Low Pressure Fuel Sensor (G410) Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor (often on this circuit) Throttle Position Sensor

This is what I am taking about, I would like to turn on the inside part on the boot
  16. Testing of the brake fluid for H20 is 'Simply Clever'. it is obviously just the brake fluid in the reservoir that is tested because they are not letting any out of the calipers and testing that.
  17. This shouldn't really be a routine feature, dealers, like the independent I use, should be able to test the fluid and only change it when needed.
  18. That's why I wrote that you should carefully check whether the correct pins are present on the BCM board before you start tinkering. But some people don't understand that
  19. Going from 02xx or 03xx to 04xx without patching the unit first is NOT possible.

And who put the £40k luxury car tax in. A new RS is over £40k before adding any options, so it attracts a £640 pa VED charge. And as I don't really need a big car anymore as both of my parents & dogs have now died, I'm on my own and I only do longer journeys 4 times a year now, I can do without a larger car. So I'm thinking about the Fabia 130.

  22. It's finally there! 28th october ordered, 27th december delivered! So far a superb car!
  23. A 2015 Octavia won't have a clutch mechanism on the AC pump, it's a variable displacement pump.
  24. Problem new to me, try to run the firmware upgrade in Manual SWDL mode with "Select all" marked
  25. I put in an AliExpress reversing camera, but not made any cosmetic additions
  26. yes indeed, but I had already tried that idea.....but it was with the original door catch. However, when I bought the new catch I thought it would solve the problem, but it didn't so I then went looking elsewhere.....like the wiring harness up in the top left corner of the boot opening. Today, I tried the old catch just to see if it was in fact working .....and it wasn't. So I actually had two issues, the catch and the fact it wasn't catching the bottom part on the door frame correctly.....the wiring was all a red herring BUT......it did let me discover the damaged pipe for the rear windscreen washer.......and it now turns out its damaged in other places too.....behind trim in fact , so more removing of panels in the rear of the car. BUT at least I know what the problem is , more than half the battle.

I had a 2012 Octavia vRS CR DSG for 13 years and changed to a 2.0 Sportline in March of this year. No regrets. Octavia was better on fuel and handling. For everything else the Karoq wins hands down. Saying that the Octavia was better on handling needs a bit of clarification - having lower and stiffer suspension there was less body roll. The Karoq has more roll but I've never felt unsafe in it. I don't have DCC so that might make a difference. In the Karoq I've never thought - I wish I was in my old Octavia for a bit more performance.

I have the 2.0 TSI 4x4 DSG, how it compares to an Octavia VRS I can’t say as I’ve not driven the VRS. However I don’t think you will disappointed especially in Sport mode! To go back to the 1.5 TSI engine, yes it did have issues, yes they have improved, have the problems been completely solved - not entirely, and are much more noticeable with the manual gearbox, so the DSG is the better option. However the 1.5 TSI DSG is 2wd and prone to front wheel spin when pulling out of junctions. I don’t think the 1.5 TSI is available, in the UK at least, as a 4x4. In 10,000 miles in my 2.0 TSI I’ve not encountered front wheelspin when pulling away, even at damp junctions, where my 2.0 TDI DSG 2wd Touran would spin and traction control would cut in. The 1.5 TSI uses the dry clutch DQ 200 DSG, the 2.0 TSI uses the wet clutch DQ 381. The road holding and grip of the 2.0 TSI is excellent. The rear suspension on the 4x4 Karoqs is the VAG multilink setup ad used on the VW Touran, Passat and probably Octavia and Superb. The 2wd Karoqs use a torsion beam rear suspension.
  29. in the UK you don't get sound insulation under the bonnet because the sounds of crashing about on our rubbish roads means you cannot hear the engine anyway😄
  30. 5 december forecasted production 3 december actual production started 8 december left factory 19 december forecasted arrival in The Netherlands 12 december arrival in The Netherlands 16 december delivered at dealer 27 december forecasted pick up at dealer 27th pickup at dealer
  31. Dont worry, About 98% of us have this problem. The infotainment system on a lot of Audi/VW cars is a pain. Only thing i can say is when it happens press and hold the on/off for about 10 seconds and the system reboots itself.. But keep on at the dealer where you bought the car, They are responsible for getting the software fix done.. I thought they had fixed this on newer cars, But obviously not...
  32. Are we meant to be using the voice control for this sort of action? "Hey Laura, turn on the nearside rear heated seat"

Skoda will give you a contribution to reduce the price below this, well they did for me anyway, a loyalty discount, but I added extras, as I don't mind paying a little extra 😀

Seems to be going off topic somewhat. I only posted so others, like me, trying to find a Royal Green vRS may have the option to see one, so I hope it helps whoever is considering the purchase an option to view one in the flesh so to speak 👍 (and btw you can get it for less than £40K depending on your options)
  35. We're having this problem now. Did you get it sorted? AA man told me that leaving it plugged in but not charging is draining the battery, did you experience that at all? We use hypervolt home pro 3 and Octopus auto scheduling.
