  1. Stone Cross windmill looking rather splendid in this afternoon's Sun: And on the way back I counted 67 Coot and two Great Crested Grebe on Shinewater Lake: Oh and not forgetting these two: Didn't expect to see them, otherwise I'd have taken some food as they came over to me, so seemed interested. 3. What better time to introduce the car than after a proper weekend wash. She's a 280 L&K remapped to 370bhp with eibach lowering springs and 15mm spacers all around. Loving driving her more everyday. Any suggestions for what I should do next welcome.
  4. I happen to live in a terraced house, with a garden that in theory I could dig out and park a car but it doesn't end there, this area is over-run with students and rentals, hence the reason for 'no guaranteed parking place' and for people undertaking higher education in our Uni they do not appear to have many grey cells when it comes to car parking, the chance of being blocked in or out is remarkably high. To go electric would also mean moving house and area, I'm not rich enough

How easy was that. Problem solved. Many Thanks. Wonder why the Skoda dealer never mentioned the reset??????
  6. The vRS 245 is a GTI PP, so in addition to the DSG (DQ250 at 40k, DQ381 apparently 80k, but realistically 40k too), the LSD will need to have been serviced too (every 30k).
  7. We arrived at precisely the right moment! For around 5 minutes the sky was absolutely spectacular although within a couple of minutes it was like someone had turned out the light.................

Well, been on here for over 4 years now, contributed some, and learnt a lot more. But time to say goodbye. But not to Briskoda, just this forum. I am getting a 2026 Skoda Karoq delivered tomorrow, so will be migrating over to that forum. Thanks for all advice given here, it's helped a lot.

Well, all change, had the car a week and took it back with faults from day 1, and rejected it under Consurmers Rights Act. Dealer was ok about that, but they've sold my old Superb. They are putting my financail position back to where it was refunding cash I paid and the pex trade in value, but at the moment I'm carless, except for the Fabia they have given me as a courtesy car til the rejection process is over. Only problem I'm in somerset and travelling to scotland on 22nd Oct, just over 2 weeks to source another car. Not to worry I'll treat myself and hire a good car. Can't find a Superb, think I'll treat myself to a Merc e class
  10. Not strictly electric car related, but I know that many EV'ers also have home battery installations, so this is a warning of possible troubles; I would not want anyone to suffer.

  12. Firstly why were the only two comparisons made between top of the range supercars, Mercs, it went to great lengths waving the 'go electric' banner but never touched on the real-world issues that are raising doubt about electrics [1] the everyday charging, I imagine the majority of drivers reside in terraced houses or possibly in flats, not all having a garden, being confined to street parking, not necessarily in exactly the same location each time means for them the petrol car wins hands down for convenience [2] I have never seen a program that reveals how range is effected according to weather conditions, cold, wet, dark etc, wipers, heating, air-con, lights, lets throw in heated seats, all tests I have seen are in perfect daylight conditions. Tell you what, lets add a motorway traffic jam where all the above are operational but no distance is being achieved, could be for hours ! [3] Its rare but not unknown to experience power cuts, stormy weather, fallen trees, over demand as we are being pushed into an all electric future
  13. @johnnie47 It is great that there are choices and will be for many years to come. The millions of ICE vehicles available now and until no longer available new will be going on for decades yet. Sad IMO is that those that did get EV,s and might of had Free Charging and no VED no longer have that. But fair doos. Charging 3 pence a mile from EV drivers from next year is certainly not fair for those paying the public charging tariffs with 20% VAT. Non Real World testing under labority conditions are a nonsense.

Google says yes. Pretty sure the Reiger and Maxton sites don’t list different parts for both.

Yes happy with that thank you, ahh just thought mine is a Estate does the rear lower valance still fit
  16. Looks great. I’m obviously biased but dechrome and black/colour coded badges look sweet on a white car…

Its @tombee wanting the cut outs for tailpipes adding to his 220, and ive got diesel so want no cut outs but jumped on the thread at the prospect of a L&K type trim! so as long as Tom doesnt mind the towbar cut out then I think we are both happy!
  18. If it worked when area was disturbed and also when gearstick moved it could be a wiring fault or bad earth? Are you getting any clicks but not cranking or nothing at all. Alasdair
  19. Very little energy is used in traffic jams in an BEV. Best try driving one. I do and know, regularly through Glasgow it can be 40 minutes or so covering 5 miles. & you can switch the car off as you might in an ICE vehicle. Even in the coldest of weather i doubt you will keep everything running, and heating from 0*oC outside to 16*oC inside is not using much energy. not like it is a 2kW fan heater. I have my windows open a bit, wind deflectors fitted, stops steaming up. Heated seats have very little affect on the efficiency / range of a BEV. I have mine on for a few minutes at the most if the car is not pre-heated. My arse would be on fire even at the low setting. Yes you get power cuts, weather, road closure diversions. (A 60 mile one on Skye just now) Snow gates closed etc etc. Filling stations without power as well. No card usage being a use, people without cash. Public Charging might not be cheap. The last trip i did cost £3.50 for 160 miles charged at home, then the next 200 miles was £27. That was not Rapid or Ultra Rapid charging. Doing Rapid or Ultra Rapid Charging for the 360 miles could have cost anything from £60 - £92 depending on Location / Charger providers. Business / Commercial drivers getting BIK and maybe charging paid for & even if no Home / Work charging are in a whole different position from a Private Driver with no Home or Work Charging.

Cool I have standard diffuser so sportline or l&k would be an upgrade for me! It would have to be dechromed of course! @tombee and myself can fight it out who gets which one and perhaps we can go half’s on postage!

One (or more) of the windows needs its 'one-touch' operation resetting. This should reset it Close the window: Pull the window switch all the way up to the second detent until the window is completely closed. Keep holding the switch up for about 2 to 3 seconds after it shuts. Open the window: Push the switch all the way down to fully open the window, and hold the switch down for 2 to 3 seconds once it is fully open. Repeat closure: Pull the switch up once more to fully close the window and hold it for 2 to 3 seconds at the top.
  22. @NottsIan I agree with your assessment, something isn't right. I have read that the throttle sensitivity can be adjusted. As I mentioned previously the when DSG adapts to towing it changes up later and down sooner, but it reverts to normal after about two days.
  23. My old firm Ceva is absolutely dedicated to reducing carbon footprint print and whether that is going full EV, or using HVO or LNG in the case of ships that can load up to 4,000 tonnes of fuel at a time. I think diesel needs to be there in case we have a "nuclear" winter caused by war or natural disasters like Icelandic volcanos or the Atlantic warm water stream stopping as it is due to in the next 2 or 3 decades which would lower SE England average temperatures by about 10 C. We would need all the energy diversities we can get.
  24. Our Clio "self charging hybrid" was lovely to drive for 23 months. Low down oomph of the electric motor and range of the petrol engine even though the tank was bit less than 40 litres. Well into the mid or upper 60 mpgs in summer, dropping just below 60 mpg in depths of winter. Coming back from Ferrari Challenge at Oulton Park and we got a flat tyre. Gunge did not work so out came RAC. Changing wheel for the RAC man's spare and dash light up like Blackpool illuminations. With hybrids more than twice as mych to go wrong, maybe 4 times as much as the systems xan seem to go in to conflict. Would never get a hybrid again. Or maybe only a Toyota as their biuld quality and experience sets them apart. And... https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/features/366162/petrol-station-ev-charging-station-future-uk-forecourts
  25. Hi all, just a quick update. So after taking the two solenoids out that didn’t need removing I removed the whole pump but I still could only see the two solenoids. I then saw a picture of another Lucas pump and there was a cut off solenoid at the end like other pumps but on my pump I couldn’t see it until I took of the mounting bracket and there it was. Cutting a long story short I had power going to a module on the base of the pump but no ignition power coming out. I removed the solenoid leads from that module and put them to the ignition power to the module, earthed the other end and BOOM I now have a working injector pump and after bleeding the pump I now have the pick up running 💥🎉 Thanks for your help guys without your advice I would still probably be chasing this one. Rob
  26. PS. Why have a story on Diesel & show a green PETROL Pump? This is the UK with black pumps for diesel not the USA.
  27. Lets forget who is feeding THE TIMES stories be that 'Insiders' or LABOUR PARTY 'Communications staff'. Lets hear from The Horses mouth, which ever Secretary or Minister of State is 'The Horse'. Let them tell 'The House' first and not leak stories.
  28. You're right, this is pure clickbait; diesel is going to be around in huge volumes for many years to come for all of the reasons already mentioned.
  29. Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and new to Skoda. I wanted to post this review to help others - I found a lot of the car journos to be very dismissive of the Fabia 130 and couldn't find anything about the car from real owners other than the odd comment on YouTube and on here. After 1000 miles driven in my Fabia 130, I've found it to be a fantastic all-rounder, which was just what I was looking for. I have had many hatchbacks over the years, Renault Clios, Ford Fiestas, a Mazda 3, Hyundai i10, Toyota Yaris and I wanted something that was sporty and fun but also practical and with good tech and want to say that the Fabia ticks every box. If you read reviews from Carwow, Auto Express, Whatcar they say that it isn't a hot hatch and isn't fast or fun enough, which is true, but Skoda has never claimed it to be a hot hatch, it's a special edition, tuned Fabia Monte Carlo - go into it with that mindset and you will love it. Pros It handles very well - it feels light on it's feet, grips well and in sport mode the steering is weighty and responsive. The seats are incredible - more comfortable than my Mazda 3 which I did a few trips around the UK in. The car is loaded with tech if you option it well and just about everything you need is included as standard. The Winter Premium pack is a must in my opinion for those misty/frozen mornings, and a heated windscreen is something I have missed since owning a couple of Fords. The infotainment is good, not outstanding but I am happy to sacrifice blazing performance for good buttons and easy-to-use menus, which the Fabia has. The steering wheel buttons are a particular highlight, everything you need is there and being able to switch through menus in the virtual cockpit and switch off ADAS systems with a couple of button presses is a breath of fresh air these days. Cons There are some minor software glitches that are more irritating than anything - the radio station will randomly swap on starting the car for me, no idea why but it's such a bizzare quirk I don't know why it's not been fixed in an update The engine note is dreadful - akin to a herd of cows than anything sporty. At high revs it resonates throughout the car with a drawn out groan. Again, it's not a hot hatch but better sound deadening or a proper exhaust note would go a long way! Most of the HVAC controls are easily reachable with physical buttons, but there are a couple of things (heated windscreen and the temperature sync between the two zones) that are only accessible in a menu on the touchscreen. Strange. If you are using Android Auto for Google Maps (and I assume Apple CarPlay) you can't have your navigation on the virtual cockpit - if you want a zoomed out view on the main infotainment screen and a zoomed in view on the virtual cockpit for seeing close junctions and directions, you have to use the default Skoda navigation system, which is good, but it's an oversight. Overall, I'm very happy with the car - the price was a steal, I got it for £8,000 off list in July, and it's loaded with options. Unless you really do not want anything sporty, it's a no brainer to go for the 130 over a Monte Carlo in my opinion. I decided on this over the Polo GTI because of the option to have a heated windscreen, premium sound system and heated steering wheel which, strangely are not even options on the Polo. Plus I like the understated nature of a Fabia. If you want something out and out fast, look elsewhere, but if you want a good blend of practicality and space, sportiness, good looks and good tech, be sure to look at one. If any prospective buyers have any questions, I'd love to answer them, or if there are any other 130 owners here, let me know your thoughts on the car.
  30. Connect the old BCM—it doesn't matter if Component Protection (CP) triggers. Create a backup using the VC tool, connect the new one, transfer the backup using the VC tool, and purchase a stock dataset if necessary. That’s how I would try it. If it was just about expanding the color range, an update would have sufficed.
  31. Flying by to say that after about 10 months since I bought the car and roughly 5 since engine swap began, it is finally on the road awaiting registration paper (local bureaucracy thing). I had some issues as is with any big work, but nothing that's related to putting CTH in previously CAV driven car, things like a leak here and there or mistake during assembly. It's worth mentioning that I have final stock CAV software ver.9971 Engine managed to complete all readiness codes. Pulls like it should both on compressor and turbo. Anything that I logged was within specification. No overheating, no undercoolling, no exhaust noise, no misfires, no smoke, fuel consumption within expectation, no rattles or knocks. What remains is a bit lumpy idle on cold weather starts due to NGK BKR7EIX plugs. It did noticeably improve after running full 45 liters of fuel with pulse gt injector cleaner which I opted to run because injectors were used with unknown past. Second thing is I had twice p0420 catalyst system efficiency below threshold (mind you, after successful readiness). At first I thought it's an exhaust leak on cheap FA1 clamp, but no, second error was with pipes done by the book. Right now I'm thinking it might be aftermarket diverter valve with flat orings, but that doesn't fit the picture much. Alternative suspect is secondary O2 sensor with 170'000kms on it. My Renault Megane mk1 also had O2 trolling around constantly but not setting codes so I'm willing to guess a lazy sensor can be good enough for self-test but not for normal operation. Took me for ever to get around making a log of O2 sensor, I have about 2 hours of it but as luck would have it, with lackluster cheap scanner instead of VCDS. I'd like to post a photo, but there isn't any obvious CTH feature to show when it sits in engine bay.
  32. Agree on dust they emit but can't fault their performance. Nearly no squeal on my though but i have different calipers now so maybe something to do with that.
  33. The easiest way is to measure them
  34. Most likely Columbus mib2 You can download maps from the Skoda website by entering your vin. https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/ Install instructions here: https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/Download/columbus_MIB_2.pdf You can also manually update the software on your main unit with this guide: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/514645-how-to-guide-for-mib-firmware-update/
  35. Hi Doofy, yeah I feel the same about these small modern turbo engines, interesting what you both say about the oil, the VW 504 / 507 seem more available here at a good price. I bought 5 litres of the 508 00 to top up with from an auto spares shop as I couldn't see it on the shelves in the supermarket, cost me over 60 euros, the 504 / 507 was around 45 euros for a branded make in the supermarket. Wish I had known that then!
  36. @BKRacing please check your messages Regards
  37. I picked up my Karoq DSG new in July 2026. Ever since, I have felt that the gearbox changes up when it should if i am driving on the flat but doesn't change up quickly enough if I am going uphill. I have to use the flappy paddle on the steering wheel. All of this is in comparison with my previous 1 litre manual Karoq which indicated to me when I needed to change up or down.
  38. the official version...
  39. Some intern placed an order for the bolts and accidentally ordered 20,000,000 of the wrong type I reckon!
  40. ive had this issue too, you need to keep the revs higher. its actually stalled before you have come to the lights, but there is no indication it has.. no juddering or anything of the sort, its not until you come to a stop you realise or go to set off again. 2025 1.5tsi manual i'd actually drove 4 other skodas, two octavias, a superb and kamiq and didnt have this issue

Anyway 17s are on with ps5s , car drives so much nicer imho so all good here 🥰🤗
  43. I take it you have had it since new or low mileage and at 8k I would not expect corrosion or wear that would warrant a disc change unless the caliper is either defective or pads are sticking in carrier. I assume it was a dealer if its under warranty that did the work plus you mention one disc was replaced. Its normal and safe practice to replace in pairs. If it is a defective seized caliper it should be covered by warranty and because it caused damage to disc maybe disc should also be covered. If the pads had seized in carrier I doubt it would be covered Alasdair
  44. Generally one disc wearing excessively compared to the other side suggests that the pads could be sticking.
  45. 1, It would exceed the manufactures specification. 2. Depends on the make / quality of the tyre, tyre pressures used. Tyres as they age get harder and this also degrades the ride. So just fitting the same tyres as you had but with newer ones will improve the ride. You can find many budget tyres make a thicker / heavier tyre than the premium makes in the same size. In the winter, tyres with more natural rubber will produce a better ride. Again premium tyres can have more ( expensive ) natural rubber in them. Tyres get harder the colder it gets, unless you run winter tyres. HTH Thanks. AG Falco
  46. Please remember what ever tyre type snd speed or load rating there might be XL / Reinforced sidewalls. For those that see very little snow and find Summer / Standard UK fit tyres as OK, maybe take a trip oop north of Brechin this week.
  47. Tyres are a very underrated very complex car component and even the same make and model of tyre will vary within its range of sizes. You could ask insurers about tyres but their answers tend to vary on many matter of the insurance hence the varying premiums. But I can't see an insurer being upset if the only difference is one step up in Load Index and I'd be ery surprised you'd notice much if any difference when driving. (unless there's a big difference in design, tread, compound and composition of the 84 tyre to 88 tyre). Just changing from worn to new tyres if you have chosen correctly should give you better braking, steering, suspension, handling, ride comfort and noise. Alignment change if it was required would also help to some extent. If you want to know more loads of info in the 'Tyres & Wheels' forum on this site. - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/213-tyres-wheels/ HTH.
  48. Most insurers struggle to identify the correct car but if it came down to a technical point, they would have to prove that a (probably lower load rated tyre) would have had an effect. I just changed my Fabia's tyres and bought the correct load rating of 84. It might be my imagination but the ride does seem better, however that could also be attributed to the different tyre brand and having the allignment done too.
  49. Just over a year into mine and only a couple of niggles. Occasionally won't start. Not even turn over. Had to call Assistance and seems to be a feature. The brake pedal goes hard and needs a really firm push to bypass the interlock and start. 2nd is a squeaking rear suspension. That and Royal Mail deciding to cut across 3 lanes and clip the rear end. Being fixed in the new year.
