Can't help answer your question I'm afraid, but interested as I'm having similar thoughts on whether to buy 1.0 or 1.5 used octavia. What did you decide in the end and has it worked out? Anyone else have advice? Thanks

Good evening. Its a hatchback. I have no modified that suspension height at all its all standard. It amazes me how the suspension is soo soft as standard. Never had this issue on any car I've had hence why I thought it to be an issue with a fault somewhere. Do I also need springs aswell?

Had the same issue August 2026, ordered new button from skoda parts direct £20 (now asking £40 ?). Dealer wanted £44, so aware of problem and said they had not had to replace whole hand brake only replace button. I had read all posts, so not sure new button would work, but knew to pull control rod out to get ratchet to work. Guess what, yep failed, on a hill in the dark in slow moving traffic Sept 2026. Did not actually see button go when released the hand brake, doing multiple stop and move on, up hill. Reached down to pull brake and felt no button (dont press on pulling). I pulled the control rod out and pulled the handbrake at same time. Wife put hazards on for me and we had to let traffic pass, before trying to move off. Reported as safety issue to central skoda, clearly other manufacturers recalled on similar issue e.g VW T5. Dealer charged £115 investigation fee for known issue, plus £440 (£249 + vat for whole hand brake) to fix, two bits of plastic failing. Skoda parts, which is Skoda, £191, but dealer has to use TPS. Like other gent, needed car fixed quickly. I've raised safety issue with DVSC. All need to do this. Some customers get lucky with new button. But it's an un safe design. We found button and spring in back of car. Dealer said car was unroad worthy...so clearly unsafe. I would have gone small claims, but apparently got to go ombudsmen, they have it sawn up, apparently its dealer not manufacture if wear and tear, but it's a issue with the design in my mind. oh and I've done less that 58k...so less than original warranty distance. Rant over ....did buy gorilla glue ...should have used.

That’s interesting. I recently posted an account of my car performing a sudden emergency stop while travelling at 70mph in the centre lane of the M20. It braked hard, locked the steering, came to a full stop and turned off the engine. I hadn’t given it much thought until you mentioned it but the common factor with your incident is that I too had the drowsy/take a break message just a few minutes before my incident. I wonder if it’s related 🧐 As a result of my incident I sold the Superb as I felt we had had a lucky escape, might not be so lucky next time. Picked up my new car this morning…

Thank you for the replies. I have tried doing a factory reset 3 times without success. I have also tried removing the fuses that feed the unit and also the ones that feed the SIM/sos unit without success. I think that it is somehow linked to the account settings. I have tried deleting that account and setting up a new account on the app which appears to go through successfully and I get a welcome message. If I enter those new details in to the unit it just comes up with incorrect password even though the app says that the new password is correct. According to the screen when you delete a user account that existing user get a message to tell them that their account has been cancelled. I have never received any email saying that the account was cancelled, even though the new account that I tried setting up was with a completely different email address.

I bought a 2019 Skoda Karoq scout DSG 4x4 last year and all has been well up until about a week ago. I noticed my passenger side footwell was wet and upon closer inspection i found my carpet completely soaked .I cleaned both front drain tubes with a long wire and both are clear. I then researched the problem online and it seems to be a well known problem within the VAG group of cars. I think that its shocking that this hasnt been put out as a recall on what is basically crap engineering. The drain tubes for the panoramic roof as simply placed onto the sunroof cassette with no means of securing them in place. The tube goes down the door pillar to connect into a small rubber grommet ( push fit also ) in the firewall behind the dash. The grommet drains out into the area where the wiper motor sits. Seems the actual drain pipe shrinks over time and pops out of the fitting either at the top or the the bottom of the hose. I have phoned various skoda dealers and ive been told i need to book it in for investigation even though i know where the fault is?? they asking for a 4 hours investigation fee as £100 an hour. The id need to pay what they ask for in repair costs. Plus most skoda dealerships seem to be booked up into oct/nov This will be my last car with a sunroof. Id fix it myself but the job looks a bit tricky ..

I've just unticked the box on the settings menu that displays the clock as I always use the M FD clock.

What is the reason for choosing diesel & 4x4? What will your usage look like in terms of weekly usage? As @thamestrader has already alluded to, an elderly diesel with questionable usage could have all manner of issues just waiting to bit you on the *rse. Also note that the car will be too old to take Skoda's All-in service/warranty when the initial warranty has expired. There's quite a lot of relatively common faults like door locks, electric boot struts, leaking sunroof (if it hasn't been well maintained), fuel flaps, etc. together with the DSG & 4 x 4 system that you ideally would want covered. 19" wheels are prone to damage & many find the ride too compromised on the low profile tyres.

Out of interest, what were the weather conditions at the time? I've found that the sensors/cameras which provide the input to all the 'assist' systems are far more susceptible than they ought to be to moisture, condensation, etc.

The rivets are N 91078801 and are 6.4 x 10mm. I got a two handed rivet gun to do my sons when the regulator totaled itself. Got them on ebay for around £10 for 10. Put part number into search and a few should ping up. Make sure your not paying a fortune for just one rivet! Alasdair

Is the 2023 Superb MK3 2.0TSI 272PS 4x4 a hatchback or estate? Does the car have standard ride height suspension or lowered ride height suspension? Does the car have DCC (electronic damping control) shock absorbers? When it comes to the springs, the front springs are the same on both the hatchback and estate, when all other things are equal...but the rear springs are usually a little stiffer on the estate compared to the equivalent hatchback. Lowered ride height suspension is also known as sports suspension. Lowered ride height suspension has a nominal 15mm lower ride height compared to standard ride height suspension. On the Superb MK3, the springs on the lowered ride suspension are about the same stiffness as the springs on the standard ride height suspension. Hence, even lowered ride height cars have soft suspension. Bilstein B6 shock absorbers are for use with standard ride height springs, and Bilstein B8 shock absorbers are for use with lowered ride height springs. The main difference between Bilstein B6 shock absorbers and Bilstein B8 shock absorbers is that the Bilstein B8 shock absorbers are about 20mm shorter than the Bilstein B6 shock absorbers. Wondered if anyone could recommend a discrete dash cam for an elroq. But nervous because the 5V charger is in the boot and seemed complicated to install?

Skomaz - thanks for replying and for the suggestion. I've put some clear tape all the way along the join of the glass and plastic body of the headlight and so will see what happens. The dust cap seals both seem fine and from what I can see, there aren't any cracks or hairline fractures anywhere in the headlight. So puzzling and annoying as on a dry sunny day the condensation disappears within a couple of hours and it's evident there isn't any collection of water and so it seems to be a breather type issue rather than a cracked or damaged headlight. Typically the MOT is due in January and so the condensation is usually worse than ever. Last year they failed it but then cleared it with compressed air but I'm desparate to get to the bottom of the issue as I'm not so sure they'll be so understanding this year. Thanks again.

Yes, I unmount every connector in the panel and was the main light switch (the one lighting in the picture above). It seems a bit burned on the other side.

Update on this. Rear donk solved. Bottom droplink bolt on the passenger side wasn't tight (the one bottom right of the 2nd pic). Jacked up the hub so all under load and torqued it up properly. Checked the other side which was ok. As I jacked the hub up and compressed the spring, there was the donk sound but I tried it a couple of times and couldn't see what was moving to make the sound. Did the same after the work was done and silent. Test drive was silent too. Spring looked fine sat in the cup and looked fine under compression so not sure what was up. One thing sorted. Work booked for end of next week - helicoil my dogbone mess, front arb switched to H&R, front topmounts, check the wheel speed sensors then 4wa and hopefully that's it...

I was sitting in the warranty managers office reading Skoda's reply to him with attachments from the ombudsman supporting the VW group's stance. They were recent rejections so VW have probably come up with a more robust "excuse" for not coughing up which the ombudsman now agrees with. Missing inspection reports weren't mentioned, purely the location. If it can be rubbed or collect dirt causing corrosion it's a no. He reconned if it was just the small bubble about a half inch into the panel it would have probably been ok but as you can see a small area where the edge of the rubber filler surround meets the bodywork they've decided it is "edge and fold". As you say it's cobblers. My only real option is the ombudsman which I have started but they quote a 6 month wait before they'll even look at it but it appears they'll side with VW anyway. I may have to bite the bullet and get it sorted myself.

It is necessary to drill out the rivets to get to almost everything in the door such as replacing the window winder or door lock - both have been done on mine. The window winder is mounted on that metal panel so you also have to be aware of how to connect and disconnect the glass. It is shown in the Haynes manual. The rivets are a large and non standard size but are easily available from motor factors who stock VAG parts. You may need a larger rivet gun than a diy tool. It may be better to pay a garage for 1 hour of labour. I used an auto electrician as they do this all the time on VAG cars but local garages may not have any experience.
