Silencing the loud spoken traffic congestion warnings
I'd have thought this would be similar to sat nav directions or phone calls, in that the volume can be adjusted during announcement (or call) by using the volume dial on the steering wheel. After a year of ownership (used car purchase), i've not had any traffication announcements, maybe they were turned off by previous owner.

Final Drive Service?
Definitely try The Phirm - they're by Blackwater station. I spoke with them and VAS Motion when deciding where to go for my big service a year or two ago. The Phirm are a TVS dealer, but I can't actually remember why I went with them in the end - I think I just liked their answers better. Either way, I've spent a fair bit of money with them, doing stuff like my DSG, VAQ and major service, as well as LCAs, CV boots, new battery, minor service and other stuff. I plan to see them for some new brakes soon, too. @travs had his intercooler and suspension done there, and had similarly good experiences. Do you know what these are? I've only ever seen the standard VAG Haldex service kit from Febi (silver bottle with white and red labelling) or the VW one in the silver bottle.

Final Drive Service?
Just to clarify, Haldex is a Borg Warner product, VAQ is a "clutch for a shaft" using Haldex bits. The VAG branded fluid seems to vary from VW Group to marque, though some of the aftermarket brands use a common fluid - but there again, VW Group don't "make" these fluids. I deferred to using what, in my case, SEAT quoted in their parts listing. It could be that these VAQ parts manufacture has been licensed out to 2 different suppliers covering different VW Group brands, and they use acceptable but different materials or processes - and so VW Group quotes 2 different fluids for different marques.

Glowplug prices - having a laugh
I have just enquired about a glowplug for number 3 - you know the one that costs the earth. I have seen branded plugs for €140 each but not always in stock. I checked with my local Eurocarparts and they quoted me €275!! I thought I better ask Skoda maindealer as that seemed crazy and after 5 minutes on the phone (mostly holding) I was offered one off the shelf for €175+vat - €215. When has a main dealer not been the most expensive for parts?

Radiator fan noise
I have noticed my radiator fan is making a noise especially now with the aircon being used during this hot weather. It has a rumble rather like a washing machine drum spinning. Are the bearings lack lubrication and would a spray of lubricant behind the fan blades quieten it?

Cropped pic of the best one I took. Thankfully the magnetic ND filter kit from K&F I ordered last week (Aug 3) arrived just in time. I started with all 3 filters, but ended up with 10 and 6 stop (plus Hoya CPL). Exif data, if you're interested

What have you done to your Superb III today?
New struts purchased and installed. £80 for a pair on ebay shipped next day from the UK. Popped old ones off, popper new ones on. Job done. Will give away the old struts if anyone wants them and can do a better repair job than me.

Power steering issue
Read on here that you remove wheel and plastic wheel arch for access to hydraulic connections/pump. They also removed fog light to access electric connections as they point forward. On my sons theres no front fog lights fitted so I assume if none the bumper may have to come off unless its accessible from under car. Alasdair

Thanks for the recommendation, Camberley is 10 minutes away and I work in Guildford so either are perfect. Thanks again, blue was my preferred colour and this green was a close second 👍🏻

Battery Problem?
At least it was sorted. You can have lots of seemingly unrelated issues if there are problems with a steering angle sensor, wheel speed sensor, etc. It’s not an uncommon thing to lose braking assist, park pilot and other things, all because of something as simple as a dodgy ABS ring.

Final Drive Service?
Are you able to make the drive to The Phirm, in Camberley? I would recommend them instantly - @travs can confirm. Their lead times are quite long but, to be honest, the same is true for all decent VAG indies. I like to keep myself as incognito on the internet as possible, so I won’t give my first name, but if you tell Paul at The Phirm that someone with a blue Octavia vRS full of cake sent you their way, he’ll take care of you. Failing that, VAS Motion in Guildford are also very good.

Karoq Instrument Panel & Servicing Generally
Maxidot is the name for the display between the two dials. There is a range of data display available (including oil temperature) - to change display (hope right, from memory) press the RH scroll-bar on the MFSW and then scroll to switch the display.

Karoq Instrument Panel & Servicing Generally
The air filter schedule as per Skoda is ridiculous. 60,000 miles / 6 years. It is simply clever to inspect at every service and replace it required as a dirty / clogged air filter can cost you in reducing the mpg. Were the spark plugs replaced already. They are at 40,000 miles or 4 years?
