  3. Thanks for the info @imart143 i keep getting distracted / volunteered to do other jobs and keep forgetting to check the engine bay,, ive just put my keys in an envelope with a reminder to check tomorrow on the way out 🤪 Thank you for the link @D402 it says it also fits mine (DFGA engine) will see about adding it to the parts list in a week or so ,,,, if im allowed time to do some of my outstanding jobs... in the mean time,,, im goin to search / post Another question for a job that probibly wont get done until Nov 🤪
  4. Well moral as in whether you want to get rid of it or not and live with it. It was never an issue about emissions as it would still pass without it. Interesting read on MOT regs changes. Certainly looks to ramp up the MOT requirements and enforcement.
  5. @lol-lol That incident at RAF Fairford: the suspects have been released on bail and all come from London, and no explosives were found. The barrels in the vans were empty, and it would seem that they were attempting to steal diesel from farmers' fuel tanks and sell it because of the high London prices for diesel.
  6. The 2.34 tonnes if the Gross Vehicle Weight ie max weight allowed on the road and this is what the licence reading cameras work on to catch those who should be paying the extra parking charges in these cities applying these rules. My Scenic is roughly 1.75 tonnes sat by the kerb with washer fluid etc and can take almost 600 kgs of people and cargo and be legal classed as below the 2.4 tonne limit as it GVW as recorded on the V5 and DVLA as sub 2400 Kgs. Skoda bigger cars can be as low as 1560 Kgs kerb but also as high as about 1850 KGs kerb ie diesel, 4x4 and all the toys and the GVW nearly 2.4T, or close to 2.5 tonnes, which would seem to indicate that the payload, passengers and luggage allowed might be only about 500 Kgs which either sounds wrong or very poor as it is not difficult to hit 500 kgs with passengers and say luggage for a holiday. Check yours as the diesels look to have less headroom and you would not want a ticket for overloaded. Spent many a day on multi disciplinary exercises with the police, two departments of Dept of Transport, DWP and us as HMRC intercepting Bootleggers of Alcohol and getting them on overweight q was one of our best tools, as well as me seizing the cargo and the vehicle of course ! So cars have surprisingly small differences between their kerb weight and GVW. To me it should be at least a good 600 kgs in a C or D segment car but some are a bit less than that and the owner dies not realise it and is sometimes driving over the manufacturers weight limits and therefore illegally.
  7. Is it just moral? Potential new regulations on mot in 2027. Unless that’s just diesels. Recently discovered mine hasn’t done a regen in 50,000 miles or so. That might get interesting.
  8. Hi, a new battery did work, also the red light is now flashing which I forgot when the fob is near the car. Thanks, I should have tried that option first. Thanks again.
  9. Personally next choice would be downpipe. But if you have a GPF you have a moral dilemma about what you do with that…
  10. Potentially. I had a 2026 Audi A5 estate for a hire car over the summer and, aside from having 3 screens (digidash, normal screen and a third for the front passenger), it mirrored Google Maps in full. So perhaps this brings that software into our version…?
  11. 1 - not 4x4, but the 280 is the only one (it’s not the only 4x4 as there is a diesel one). 2 - do you mean can you cut the tailpipes off the 280 exhaust and fit it to a 220? Ummm no. The 220 will be a FWD variant of the ea888 design which routes differently because of the haldex. There will be better things to do. The thread I linked to had some chat - did you replace the resonator @tombee ?
  12. Today
  13. Well if your EV Scenic weighs in at 2340 Kgs, then it is heavy, my owners manual shows my Kodiaq, 4x4 TDI 110Kw Edition 5 seat and it has a large Ad Blu tank fitted, and comes in at just 1762 Kgs, 582 Kgs lighter . It is also 227 mm longer as well.
  14. Whereas I like Martini’s option of subtly changing the tailpipes despite keeping the exhaust standard. Like this badboy
  15. If you are paying Monthly, it would be reasonable for them to ask for any money needed to make up the difference between how much had been paid and the service costs received.
  16. Evening all, Just checked erWin to have a look around and I can see there is still the option to register as a private individual , not only for companies. Is it worth a try , cost vs data downloads i mean?

  22. How did you solve rack issue.
  23. @JR RS has done a brilliant guide. Make sure you have a good battery charger connected as a failed battery during this process can be catastrophic.

  25. I think you have to pay the full balance if you want to cancel.
  26. Mine are Phillips cool white w5w led bulbs. Were fitted by previous owner and appear to have a resistor in the light fitting too.
  27. Do you have any new information?
  28. Octavia iV estate MY2021 last few days cannot connect my Android phone (Motorola) (was previously no problem). Have tried a different phone (Pixel) - same problem. Both phones upto date with Google software etc Any advice?
  29. Not sure I can answer your questions specifically. But I love the solution on this one to keep OEM look with super sprint back boxes

  31. Hello, Sorry if this is a tired topic, but I don't really understand it properly. I fell into the trap of consulting AI on it a lot back in May as it would give quick responses to all the details, and at the time it seemed like it was realistic and made sense, but really it doesn't seem to track. So originally my MK1 Fabia had a hard pedal. After a wild goose chase with the servo and its vacuum pipe (which would have become a problem later anyway), we found that the actual cause was a blockage in the ABS pump causing 1 wheel to receive no brake fluid. So we replaced the ABS pump and the pedal was a lot softer and we had much better braking performance. We bled the brakes a few times and replaced the front brake pads as my dad wanted to change them. Then we ended up bleeding them again as we noticed that the pedal was a bit soft. I don't remember at what point we first noticed this, and if any difference was made by the brake pads. It is possible that it was always that soft, but we didn't notice initially as we were expecting a much softer pedal after fixing the old hard pedal. So my Uncle who is a car mechanic who we asked about it, insisted that the brakes were soft because of the new pads and I was just overblowing it because I'm a snowflake or whatever. But I can't see that it would make them that soft, and 1000 miles later the pads should be worn in but there isn't any difference. So originally we assumed it was air in the system and we bled it a load more, but we don't know if there is air in the pump that can only be bled by doing a VCDS bleed. But surely the air trapped in the pump that a VCDS bleed would get out, would not be part of the normal braking hydraulic circuit, until ABS kicks in and extra valves open and the pump has to operate. Otherwise you would be able to bleed it normally and only have the braking dynamics change after an emergency stop where extra air is introduced to the normal circuit. But then I looked more into what I heard about how you are not supposed to use the full pedal travel when doing a 2 man bleed. My dad said he didn't think this was necessary as he had never had that problem with another car. So the AI ended up convincing me that I had damaged the master cylinder seals by bleeding it improperly, which I came to accept, but I haven't yet bought the parts for that job as I keep putting it off as I'm anxious about bleeding the clutch and that becoming a similarly long story. I have already determined which master cylinder and servo mounting gasket I need for that. I just haven't ordered anything. So I've been driving it like this for about 1000 miles (admittedly a lot of them motorway/dual carriageway, but not exclusively) and it stops perfectly fine, just the pedal travel is obviously more than it is supposed to be. I've kind of got used to this now. My dad thinks it might fail its MOT, which is on Friday, for insufficient reserve pedal travel. So I've been told to get the new master cylinder ordered in case we need to change it for a re-test. But today I am looking at other posts on this topic, and it sounds like when the master cylinder seals fail, this is normally accompanied by fluid leaking from the master cylinder either into the engine bay or into the servo. To my knowledge, neither of these have been occurring and the fluid level has not gone down significantly since we last messed with it. I would expect it to go down a bit due to the brakes bedding in. I need to check this again though in the light tomorrow. I hadn't been looking for leaks there before, only at the ABS pump unions. So now I am wondering whether it is the seals after all, or is air in the system. How do I tell? The brakes don't "pump up", which is why I didn't think it was air in the system. Instead, you get a bit of travel, then the pedal gets harder, then if you press on the pedal for a longer time, it very gradually sinks. You can only really do that if the engine is running and the servo is active. The pedal doesn't actually hit the floor, but I don't know if that is possible or if there is a stop somewhere that another part of the pedal hits, or in the MC. So that seems like the MC seals, but why then are you still able to get good braking pressure, and why is there no fluid loss? The master cylinder is the 19 FTE 5615 one if it makes a difference. And the ABS pump is the mid range one that has ASR but not ESP, I think, though I can't remember exactly. Mine doesn't have the ASR button but I think that's because it's an '07 and you can't turn it off. It definitely isn't the ESP one though as we didn't need to do the steering angle calibration when we replaced it. Sorry I've made this really long winded. I'm just trying to include as much information as possible that might be relevant. Elliott
